Something was wrong with the Kyoshi Warriors. It nagged at the back of Kanna's mind and even though she wanted to know about the origin of the warriors, she found herself trying to sort it out instead of paying attention to Hoshi's history lesson.

Hoshi herself was part of the problem. She was the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, but looked to be about Kanna's age. She had not mentioned that the position was hereditary or given any reason why she had been chosen over older and more experienced women.

Kanna looked around the dojo, searching for the adults who had both trained Hoshi and decided that a twenty year-old was fit to lead an elite battle group. But none of the warriors, no matter how skilled, showed any signs of age. Nor did there seem to be any instructors overseeing the training and pointing out mistakes.

Kyoshi Warrior training was clearly different than Northern Water Tribe training, but that didn't explain where all of the adults were. There were too many young, inexperienced warriors in the dojo for the adults to let them train unsupervised, unless...

"I don't believe it," Kanna said. "You're all a bunch of girls."
