Chapter 506: Maera
Friday, February 17th, Afternoon
The restaurant wasn't far from their hotel. They took a seat at a table in the five-star Italian restaurant. They were seated around the table and looked at their menus; after they were left alone, they looked at each other casually.
"So, Bobbi, we've been getting positive feedback from your show," Brooke said.
"Already, it's not even been two days," Bobbi-Lee said.
"News travels fast," Sabrina Cohen, the business head of Davis Enterprises, said.
"So, what does that mean?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"If the sales keep coming in, the sky is the limit," Brooke said.
Bobbi-Lee nodded, "I assume that's good, and I should double my effort for the next season," she said.
Brooke and Sabrina looked at each other. They both turned to Bobbi-Lee, and Brooke smiled. Bobbi-Lee canted her eyebrow at Brooke.
"What?" Brooke asked.
"I know that smile, Brooke; you're plotting something," Bobbi-Lee said.
"I'm not plotting something," Brooke said.
"Bull, Brooke, you're smiling like a Cheshire Cat playing with its prey," Sabrina said.
"If anyone is the predator, it's you, Sabrina," Brooke said.
"I'm not playing anything," Sabrina said.
"What's going on here?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"Sabrina landed an interesting opportunity for us as designers and a business," Brooke said.
"What would that be?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"The Met Gala," Brooke said.
"The Met Gala?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"The annual fundraising benefit for the Met's Costume Institute," Sabrina said.
"I know what the Met Gala is," Bobbi-Lee said.
Sabrina nodded and looked at Brooke. Sabrina looked to Bobbi-Lee. "The sponsorship fell through, and I jumped in for us to replace the sponsorship," Sabrina said.
"That's must have cost a pretty penny," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Not for you to worry about," Sabrina said.
"I also get to be co-chair," Brooke said.
"So, what is this opportunity mean for me?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"There will be celebrities that are going to wear our designs to the gala, and since you're my best designer, I'm going to need some help," Brooke said.
"Okay, what does that entail?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"Just meeting with clients and doing couture designs for them," Brooke said.
Bobbi-Lee sighed, "So, this is why the fancy lunch?" she asked.
"No, that's to celebrate your success," Brooke said.
Bobbi-Lee sighed, "So, where are we working from?" she asked.
"Beaulieu, of course," Brooke said.
"I expected us to work here, New York," Brooke said.
"The high and mighty will come to Tree Hill to get dresses fitted," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Versace worked out of Miami Beach," Bobbi-Lee said.
"People do come to Tree Hill for couture," Brooke said.
"For Brooke Davis, not Roberta Leigh Burke," Bobbi-Lee said.
"They'll come, and you'll get work," Brooke said.
"How do you know?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"I know," Sabrina said.
"We already have our first customer," Brooke said.
"Who is that?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"Fallon," Sabrina said.
"Fallon's family has always supported The Met, and she's always at the Gala," Brooke said.
"The joys of being a billionaire," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Noblesse Oblige is an amazing thing," Brooke said.
"I guess it is," Bobbi-Lee said.
"It's a lot of work, and I think it will be big rewards," Brooke said.
"I agree; that's why I jumped at it," Sabrina said.
Bobbi-Lee nodded, "The Met Gala usually has a theme," she said.
"Yes, it does," Brooke said.
"So, what is the theme?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"It's the Carnival of Venice," Brooke said.
Bobbi-Lee nodded, "I guess I need to do a lot of research," she said.
"I guess you do," Sabrina said.
The waiter returned, took their drink, and starters orders. He looked them over and smiled.
"For your main courses?" The Waiter asked.
"I'll have the Spigola," Brooke said.
"Very good, Ma'am," the waiter said.
Sabrina looked at the waiter. "I'll have the Branzino," she said.
"Very good, Ma'am," the waiter said.
"What's good?" Bobbi-Lee asked.
"It's all good, Ma'am," the waiter said.
"The place is known for their seafood," Brooke said.
"I've never been big into seafood," Bobbi-Lee said.
"You mean to tell me you grew up on a sea coast, on a private inlet, with a dad that fished, and you're not into seafood," Sabrina said.
"What can I say? I'm complex," Bobbi-Lee said.
"Well, are you going to order?" Brooke asked.
"Yes," Bobbi-Lee said and turned to the waiter, "I'll have the Pollo."
"Very good, Ma'am," the waiter said and walked away.
Bobbi-Lee looked at Brooke. "How much will I have to work at Beaulieu?" she asked.
"Not many, just when we need you there," Brooke said.
Bobbi-Lee nodded, "Let's roll the dice," she said.
Brooke smiled and nodded. Sabrina nodded, "Let's do this," Sabrina said.
The three ladies sat together and had lunch.
