Chapter 556: Tree Hill Guidance
Monday, February 27th, Morning
She walked into the Guidance Office and saw a young guy, probably around her age, sitting there. She studied him, sighed, and looked around the waiting area. At this moment, Ashlyn Pierce-Scott walked to her office door and looked out.
"Sawyer, you're finally here; please come in," Ashlyn said.
Sawyer Scott nodded and walked into Ashlyn's office. "You sent for me, Ms. Pierce-Scott," she said.
"Yes, you're on the list to show new students around, right?" Ashlyn asked.
Sawyer nodded, "Yeah, I did sign up for it," she said, hinting she wasn't in the mood for it.
"Good," Ashlyn said, "I'd like you to meet your new charge."
"My new charge?" Sawyer asked.
"Yes, the young man in the waiting room," Ashlyn said, "His name is Kenelm."
"Kenelm?" Sawyer asked.
"Yes, " the young man said from the waiting area.
Sawyer turned and looked at Kenelm. "Okay?" Sawyer asked.
"Well, I'll let you get to it," Ashlyn said and retreated into her office.
Sawyer shook her head and turned to face Kenelm from the door. He looked up at her, and their eyes met. Sawyer's green eyes studied Kenelm's dark eyes. She walked over to him.
"Sawyer," Sawyer said.
"Kenelm, but everyone calls me Ken," Kenelm said.
"Hi," Sawyer said, "Please, follow me."
"What's wrong?" Kenelm asked.
"Just some friend drama," Sawyer said as they left the guidance office.
"Sorry to hear about the drama; whatever he did, it's his fault," Kenelm said.
"Why would you say that? I could be a horrible person," Sawyer said.
"I don't know him and know you. Also, well, someone as beautiful as you shouldn't be hurt by anyone, he, she, or they," Kenelm said.
"Thank you," Sawyer said.
"You're welcome," Kenelm said.
"So, follow me," Sawyer said.
"Lead the way," Kenelm said.
"Alright," Sawyer said.
"Hmm," Kenelm said, looking at Sawyer's butt in her skirt.
"What was that?" Sawyer asked.
"I was thinking about your name," Kenelm said.
"What about my name, Ken?" Sawyer asked.
"I don't think I've met anyone named Sawyer before," Kenelm said.
"I'm the only Sawyer I've met," Sawyer said.
"So, where does Sawyer come from?" Kenelm asked.
"It's a family name," Sawyer said.
"Oh, nice," Kenelm said.
"Your turn," Sawyer said.
"My turn?" Kenelm asked.
"Where does your name come from, Ken?" Sawyer asked.
"My mom found it in the Canterbury Tales and liked it," Kenelm said.
"Oh, cool," Sawyer said.
"So, this place seems to be a basketball school," Kenelm said.
Sawyer nodded, "Yeah, it is; we have a game coming up tomorrow, a state tournament game," she said.
"Oh, what are the boy's chances?" Kenelm asked.
"It's the girls' team," Sawyer said.
"Oh, wow, there are great woman players too," Kenelm said.
"Yeah," Sawyer said and sighed, "They're a good team."
"Are you going to the game?" Kenelm asked.
"I have to be there," Sawyer said.
Kenelm dragged his eyes off her butt and up her body. He noticed Sawyer was tall for a girl. Kenelm nodded; she's a basketball player. "Are you on the team?" Kenelm asked.
Sawyer shook her head, "Sadly, no. I'm a cheerleader," she said.
Kenelm nodded; that was an interesting fact. "Oh, really," he said, which would explain the friends' drama.
"Really," Sawyer said.
"So, you're a student ambassador and cheerleader; you're quite impressive, Sawyer," Kenelm said.
"Oh, thanks, Ken," Sawyer said.
"You're welcome," Kenelm said.
"So, what brings you to our little corner of the world?" Sawyer asked.
"I guess it was time for a change for my family," Kenelm said.
Sawyer nodded, "Well, welcome to Tree Hill," she said.
"Thanks," Kenelm said.
"You're welcome," Sawyer said.
"So, how did you end up here?" Kenelm asked.
"I was born here; my parents are both from here," Sawyer said.
"Oh, so, you've not been anywhere else?" Kenelm asked.
Sawyer shook her head, "I spend the summers in New York City with my sister," she said.
"Oh really? That's interesting," Kenelm said.
"Yeah, well, my sister is a working writer in the city," Sawyer said.
"Cool, so what else is there to do around?" Kenelm asked.
"Well, not much at our age, but if you're sixteen, there's usually one night a week at Club TRIC for underage shows, and sometimes they have all-ages shows," Sawyer said.
"I see; anything else?" Kenelm asked.
Sawyer shrugged, "I'm not sure; it's too early for the beach; I'll get back to you on that," she said.
"Okay," Kenelm said, "So, where are we going?"
"The Commons, we'll go over the school from there," Sawyer said.
