Chapter 577: Trin's Apartment

Thursday, March 2nd, Afternoon

The doorman always seemed just too nice to be ordinary. They knew she was coming up since they let her into the building. The doorman looked at her with a curious look, but she was just another blonde that entered these buildings, a dime a dozen. Taking a deep breath, she knocked on the door.

A moment later, the door opened, and the young man of the house stood at the door. She tried to remain stone-faced, but he looked so much like a brunette version of his dad. He was the oldest; after all, in some respects, this eleven-year-old boy changed her life in many ways for the better.

"Kat?" Wyatt Scott asked tentatively.

Kat nodded and looked at Wyatt, taking in the growing young man. "Yes," Kat said.

Wyatt smiled; there was a cute tentative, shy quality to him, "Please, come in," he said.

"Thank you," Kat said and entered the apartment.

Kat looked around the Upper East Side apartment. The later afternoon view was amazing since they were high enough to see over some of the shorter buildings. Kat remembered that Trin told her this was her childhood apartment. Izzy said maybe for Trin, but she remembered a smaller one. Kat walked over to the breakfast bat and took in the view.

"You're welcome," Wyatt said as he closed the door behind them.

"Is your mom around?" Kat asked.

"Yeah, she's out back; she'll be out soon," Wyatt said.

"Okay," Kat said.

"Please have a seat," Wyatt said.

"Are you sure?" Kat asked, wondering how he got such manners.

"Yes, my mom would want her guests to feel at home," Wyatt said.

"Such a gentleman," Kat said.

"Thank you," Wyatt said.

"You're welcome," Kat said and sat on one of the couches.

Wyatt took a seat across from Kat. They looked each other over. Kat was used to being studied by people. It was always for various reasons; not all were pure of thought.

"Nice necklace," Wyatt said.

"Oh, thank you," Kat said.

"You're welcome," Wyatt said, "What is it of?"

"It's Y Ddraig Goch or the Welsh Dragon," Kat said.

"Oh, why do you wear it?" Wyatt asked.

"It's to represent my mom; she was originally from Wales and moved here as a baby," Kat said.

"She must like that you do that," Wyatt said.

"I hope she does," Kat said.

"She never mentioned it?" Wyatt asked.

"No, she died when I was very young," Kat said.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Wyatt said.

"Don't worry about it," Kat said.

Wyatt nodded, "Okay, my mom said you speak a million languages," he said.

Kat laughed, "That's a bit exaggerated," she said.

"It is?" Wyatt asked.

"Yeah, I only speak three," Kat said.

"I'm learning French; the girls across the hall are teaching me," Wyatt said.

"That's the best way to learn," Kat said.

"What languages do you speak?" Wyatt asked.

"English, obviously, Russian, and German," Kat said.

"Oh, cool," Wyatt said.

"I think it is, too," Kat said.

"So, you played music with my dad," Wyatt said.

Kat nodded, "I did when we were young," she said.

"Were you close to each other?" Wyatt asked.

Kat nodded, wondering where Wyatt was going with this, "Maybe at the time," she said.

"You played music with him; I hear your name mentioned when people talk about him. So, what was it like playing music with my dad?" Wyatt asked.

"For a time, it was fun; we also wrote songs together," Kat said.

"People claim he was a genius and possibly a voice of a generation," Wyatt said.

"I wouldn't know anything about that," Kat said.

"What was he like?" Wyatt asked.

Kat shrugged, "I met him when he was only three years older than you are now, so I guess he was a nervous tentative young man. When we parted ways, we were very different people," Kat said.

"Is that a good thing?" Wyatt asked.

"It depends on your point of view," Kat said.

"Depends on your point of view?" Wyatt asked.

"What might be good for me might not be good for you," Kat said.

Wyatt nodded, "I think I get it," he said.

Trinity "Trin" Adams came sweeping into the room and looked them over. Kat reflected that she entered just like her mom. "I'm sorry, Kat, something needed to be dealt with; I hope Wyatt has been keeping you entertained," Trin said.

"Yes, he has," Kat said and smiled.

"What were you talking about?" Trin asked.

"The languages we speak and how he's learning French from the girls across the hall," Kat said.

"The LeGrande girls, they're great kids," Trin said.

"She has a cool dragon necklace," Wyatt said.

"You're still wearing that old thing?" Trin asked.

"Until they put me in the ground," Kat said.

Trin smiled and took a seat next to Wyatt. "So, you're playing two shows in the area," she said.

"Yeah, the last two dates on the tour, then back to Tree Hill, a rest, then some South American dates," Kat said.

"No rest for the weary," Trin said.

"Exactly," Kat said, "If you want, I can get you and Wyatt into the New York show."

"I'll think about it," Trin said.

"Okay," Kat said, nodded, and looked at Wyatt, still amazed at how much he looked like Brian.
