Chapter 583: THHS Library

Friday, March 3rd, Morning

Friday Study Hall made no sense to her, but she found herself sitting in the library with a class book open in front of her. At least there is no game tonight, but they would be traveling to a neutral site tomorrow. She sighed and started to roll her pencil back and forth across the table.

Sawyer looked up and saw Kenelm sitting across the table from her. Sawyer canted her head. "Ken, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"It's the library; I can be here," Kenelm said.

"I'm in study hall, not Library," Sawyer said.

"Oh, I didn't know," Kenelm said.

"Don't worry about it; as long as you're quiet, you won't attract the librarian's attention," Sawyer said.

"What about the study hall teacher?" Kenelm asked.

"Oh, Mrs. Griffith is in the librarian's office," Sawyer said.

"Okay, so I can be over here," Kenelm said.

Sawyer nodded, "Yeah, just be cool," she said.

"At least pull out a book and look like you belong," Sawyer said.

"Oh, okay," Kenelm said, reached down, pulled out a book, and opened it.

"What brought you over here?" Sawyer asked.

"I saw you were here, and I wanted to thank you for helping transition to the school," Kenelm said.

"Don't worry about it; it was my job to do it," Sawyer said.

"I did hear that you didn't want to do, and you told me you were having some personal drama," Kenelm said.

"Yeah, and that's still going on," Sawyer said.

"Well, I hope it works out for you," Kenelm said.

"Thank you, Ken," Sawyer said, "It means a lot."

"You're welcome," Kenelm said, "Your patience and time mean a lot to me."

Sawyer nodded, "Awe, okay," she said.

"Yeah, you made a scary time, and the transition went smooth," Kenelm said.

Sawyer looked at Kenelm, "It's no big deal," she said.

"It is, at least to me," Kenelm said.

"Okay," Sawyer said.

"So, what are you studying?" Kenelm asked.

"Can you keep a secret?" Sawyer asked.

"Yeah," Kenelm said.

"I'm not studying," Sawyer said.

"If you're not studying, what are you doing?" Kenelm asked.

"I'm working on some designs for the Ren Faire in the fall," Sawyer said.

"So, why are you working on it now if it's for the fall?" Kenelm asked.

"Because I will have to make them," Sawyer said.

"What are they?" Kenelm asked.

"Costumes," Sawyer said.

"Oh? Can I see?" Kenelm asked.

Sawyer sighed and looked around, "Okay, as long as you don't make fun," she said.

"I won't make fun," Kenelm said.

Sawyer took the sheet of paper and passed it over to Kenelm. He looked it over and raised an eyebrow; he lowered it and handed it back to Sawyer.

"So, what do you think?" Sawyer asked.

"It's terrific," Kenelm said.

"I'm trying something different," Sawyer said.

"You've done it before?" Kenelm asked.

Sawyer nodded, "Yeah, all the time," she said.

"Nice, you have a real talent," Kenelm said.

"Thanks," Sawyer said.

"What else do you design?" Kenelm asked.

"I've also done some sci-fi and cyberpunk stuff," Sawyer said.

"I'd like to see them as well," Kenelm said.

"I don't have those designs with me," Sawyer said.

"Pictures?" Kenelm asked.

"I'll have to look for them," Sawyer said.

"Okay," Kenelm said.

Sawyer looked around, then turned to Kenelm. "Give me your number," she said.

"My number?" Kenelm asked.

"You know your phone number or social media contacts," Sawyer said.

"Oh yeah," Kenelm said, "Do you have Snapchat?"

"Yeah, I do," Sawyer said.

"Give me a sheet of paper," Kenelm said.

Sawyer took a piece of paper, wrote down her number and social media, and slid it over to Kenelm. Kenelm tore the page in half, wrote down his contact information, and handed it back to Sawyer.

"I'll check my photos when I get home and send you some," Sawyer said.

"Okay," Kenelm said.

"Are you into stuff like what I design?" Sawyer said.

"It's interesting," Kenelm said.

"Most guys like one thing about what I design for guys," Sawyer said.

"Which is?" Kenelm asked.

"The sword," Sawyer said.

Kenelm laughed, "I can see that," he said.

"Yeah, men and their swords," Sawyer said and rolled her eyes.

"Yeah," Kenelm said as the bell rang. They packed up their books and started out of the library. As they walked in the hallway, Kenelm stopped and looked at Sawyer.

"I wanted to give you something as thanks," Kenelm said, reached into his bag, and handed a card to Sawyer.

Sawyer looked at it. "What's this?" she asked.

"It's exactly what it is," Kenelm said and walked away.

Sawyer stepped aside and opened the card's envelope. She read the card and smiled.
