Chapter 587: Los Angeles

Friday, March 3rd, Evening

The hotel room was designed for two queen beds but fitted with one king size. This allowed for a bigger sitting area; the table was where the subject sat. The person whose room this belonged wandered around, finishing her setup. Before sitting down, she looked at the wall and the abandoned headboard for the second queen that was mounted to the wall.

Felicia Van Ankeren looked across the table at her subject. While she was tall and blonde, her subject Anwen "Anya" Wolfle, was small and dark-haired. She nodded and adjusted the camera while watching her laptop.

"How are we feeling, Anwen?" Felicia asked.

"Please call me Anya," Anya said.

"How are we feeling, Anya?" Felicia asked.

"I'm feeling good," Anya said.

"That's great; please don't slouch; it looks better on camera," Felicia said.

"Oh, okay," Anya said and adjusted herself.

"Good," Felicia said, "Here comes the important part."

"Okay," Anya said.

"We're just having a conversation; it is not a race; we can take as many breaks as you need; we have all the time in the world," Felicia said.

"Does anyone believe that?" Anya asked.

"My last interview was my longest, so far, for this project," Felicia said.

"Why?" Anya asked.

"It was emotionally trying," Felicia said.

"I'm not sure what I can add," Anya said.

"Let's find out," Felicia said.

"Alright," Anya said.

"When I say, give me a countdown; I want you to count down from three and count up from three, make sure you say one twice, understand?" Felicia asked.

"Okay," Anya said.

"Are you ready to begin?" Felicia asked.

"Let's go," Anya said.

"Give me a count down," Felicia said as she started to record.

"Three…two…one," Anya said, "One…two…three."

"Very good," Felicia said.

"Thanks," Anya said.

"You're welcome," Felicia said, "Please state your name and relationship with Brian Scott and/or Gabi Vincent."

"I am Anya Wolfle, an independent musician, and Brian Scott acted as my mentor," Anya said.

"How did you meet Brian?" Felicia asked.

"Through an email, it seemed Brian found some of my songs I posted on social media. He liked what he heard and shared them on his socials, helped drive people to my stuff, and drove up my views. What happened was we exchanged DMs and later Emails, and eventually, he started giving me advice on production and writing. This led to him and me working on some songs together," Anya said.

"When did you first meet Brian in person?" Felicia asked.

"It was in a coffee shop in Los Angeles, and I also met Gabi for the first time. It was a nice meeting and discussion. I think we were feeling each other out. Gabi was quiet during this whole meeting; it was eerie, but in the end, she spoke up," Anya said.

"What did Gabi say?" Felicia asked.

"I think this will work," Anya said.

"That's it?" Felicia asked.

"Yes, that's it," Anya said.

"So, that's how you ended up working with Brian?" Felicia asked.

"Yes, after Gabi spoke, we arranged to meet and work on music," Anya said.

"When did that happen?" Felicia asked.

"A few days later, I ended up at his home studio. We smoked some weed and looked at some song ideas. Some were his, and some were mine. We ended up selecting a few to develop," Anya said.

"Was his family there?" Felicia asked.

"Yes, Gabi let me in, we exchanged a few niceties, and she led me to the studio. I believe I saw one of his kids, I believe Lennon, watching TV," Anya said.

"Was Gabi pregnant, if you remember?" Felicia asked.

"I'm not sure; she might have just had Darren, I believe is his name," Anya said.

"Yes, it's Darren," Felicia said, "So, what happened from here?"

Anya shrugged, "We started working on the songs; it was amazing how Brian just knew what to change and refine. It must have been amazing to be in the room when he and Kat Hartmann worked on a song together," she said.

"Have you heard any of Kat's newer stuff?" Felicia asked.

"Yeah, it's great; she needs to do more with Nordwind," Anya said.

"So, you worked on these songs with Brian; what was the result?" Felicia asked.

"It became my EP; we called it after me. I wanted something to play on my last name, like Alpha Wolf or Huntress. Brian said no, this is your introduction to the world, and we need your name out there, front and center, in the lights," Anya said.

"You had a minor hit off that EP; tell us about it," Felicia said.

"La Di Die," Anya said, "That started as an idea of mine, and Brian adjusted and suggested things based on his experience."

"He sang on it as well," Felicia said.

"Yes, it just seemed right," Anya said.

"What else happened during these sessions?" Felicia asked.

"Brian booked the Scott, Hartmann, and Jared tour just as we finished the EP," Anya said.

"Is that all?" Felicia asked.

"Brian was starting to record this one odd, yes, odd for him; I would call it, song," Anya said.

"What song was it?" Felicia asked.

"Brian called it Hellhound on my Trail," Anya said.

"When was that?" Felicia asked.

"It was Christmas Eve," Anya said.

"I have to ask this question, and I know you've heard the rumors…." Felicia started to say.

"No, I didn't fuck Brian Scott, I was eighteen, and he was respectful. He told me why he helped me; he said life is in thirds, the first third is about you learning, the second third is about you refining, and the final third is about you teaching. He told me he was teaching me," Anya said.

"I see," Felicia said, "Tell me another memory of Brian."

"The day we made my EP go live for download, it was the day before he left on the Scott, Hartmann, and Jared tour. We talked about working on new material, said I should try to work with his mom and her people. The last thing he told me is that he would see me after the tour," Anya said.

"He said work with RBR?" Felicia asked.

Anya nodded in silence, holding her eyes tightly closed. Felicia turned off the camera.
