Vic stopped counting how many rounds of sex they'd had, it was definitely the best she'd ever had.
She didn't know her chief had so much resistance, but he was really good at it. Though it was weird to think that she'd just had sex with her chief and that he'd seen her naked.
Vic was on the bed looking at the ceiling and playing with a curl in her fingers while Lucas was in the bathroom cleaning himself.
He then came out of the bathroom wearing only his underwear.
"Hi," he said, sitting on the other side of the bed.
"Hi," Vic said, looking away from the ceiling to look at Lucas, Vic had never noticed but under those clothes, he was incredibly hot.
"Are you okay?" He examined her.
"Yeah…um." Vic bit her lip. "Now what? We go on with our lives as if nothing has happened or..."
"What do you want to do?" He interrupted her.
"Me?" she asked, propping herself up on one elbow so she could look at him.
"Yes" Lucas sighed and rubbed his beard, he always did that when he was nervous and Vic thought it was adorable "The ball is in your side Victoria, if you don't want it anymore I understand, I can be professional, I promise I won't upset you at work."
"I really enjoyed that and you weren't bad."
"Thanks." He let out a laugh.
"I'm serious, I want to continue."
"Me too." Lucas turned and faced her.
"Like I said you weren't bad chief." Vic gave him a small kiss.
"Outside of work, call me Lucas." He took a curl of her hair and played with it between his fingers before tucking it back behind her ear.
"Call me Vic or you can keep calling me Victoria, whatever"she smiled "After all, how did you know that mine is Victoria? You don't know the name of your firefighters properly and do you know my first name?"
"I read your file." Lucas let out a nervous laugh.
"Okay, but why did you memorize my name?" She frowned.
"I have a good memory."
"Hum"she arched an eyebrow "okay."
" Why, Vic?" He looked at her curiously.
" I don't know, I like Vic, it's small and simple. Before I was Vicky and my grandmother called me Toria." She forced a smile and her eyes were shining.
"Toria is very beautiful." Lucas brought his hand up to her cheek and stroked it gently.
They ate, talked some more and laughed before heading off for another round of sex and falling into bed exhausted.
Vic woke up the next morning to the sound of the shower, she rubbed her eyes trying to adjust to the sunlight streaming through the curtains. Her eyes stopped on the chair at the far end of the room.
Vic's eyes widened seeing Chief Ripley's outfit on the chair. She'd had sex with her boss and spent the day with him in bed.
Panic settled inside her and Vic jumped out of bed and dressed quickly.
She arrived at the station before her shift started, no one had arrived yet or at least Vic thought they hadn't.
"Captain." Vic's eyes widened, she hadn't expected to see him there so soon.
"Hughes, what are you doing here so early?"
"I…hum…I didn't have anything to do around my house, so I decided to come to work early." She forced a smile.
"Right." He turned his back and went to his office.
"And you, captain?"
"The same thing. "He replied and closed the door to his office.Vic was cleaning along with Gibson, they were silent for a while. Vic and Gibson weren't close, they were friends but didn't talk about their personal lives.
She needed advice and couldn't tell Travis what happened, he was going to ask who the guy was and Vic couldn't lie to her best friend.
"Gibson, I need some advice."
"My advice?" He raised an eyebrow.
" I thought your best friend was Montgomery."
"He is, but he's going to ask questions about the guy and I can't say who it is." Vic sighed.
"Okay"
"If hypothetically you sleep with a guy and run off the next morning without saying anything to him, what does that mean?" She bit her lower lip nervously.
"I guess it means you don't like him, is the guy from station 23? Is he bad in bed?"
"What? No, not the guy from Station 23." She widened her eyes nervously.
"Do you like this Hypothetical guy?"
" I like it, I really like it but I don't think it will work, we can't be together." Vic ran a hand through her hair in frustration.
"Why not?" He raised an eyebrow.
At that moment Vic's cell phone that was sitting on the counter started to ring and the name Ripley appeared on the screen.
Vic stopped breathing, she froze looking at her cell phone screen, Gibson wasn't an idiot, he would realize that the hypothetical guy was actually their chief.
"Hmm… your cell phone is ringing." Gibson took Vic's cell phone and handed it over without looking at her.
Vic couldn't read Gibson, she didn't notice his reaction. She quickly grabbed her cell phone heading towards her room, as soon as she closed the door she answered it.
"Hi," she said with a sigh. Lucas couldn't figure out that Gibson knew about them.
"Hey " Lucas was relieved, she answered on the last ring and Lucas had already given up hope of her answering the cell. "You left this morning without saying a word."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I had this thing to do and I forgot. "Vic bit his nails nervously.
"I see, do you want to go eat something after your shift?" he asked, hoping she would accept.
"Of course," she smiled. Lucas still wanted to go out with her.
"Great, I'll meet you at your apartment in an hour."Ripley picked her up at her apartment at the end of her shift, she changed into comfortable clothes and so did he. Vic still found it a little weird seeing her chief in normal clothes but she had to admit he was adorable.
They were now sitting at a cafe table far from station 19, not something fancy and romantic like a good restaurant, but it was nice to be able to go out together in public.
"I'd like to take you to a better place but under the circumstances I can't," Lucas said, tapping his fingers on his coffee cup.
"It's okay, I liked it."
"Tell me a little about yourself, Victoria." Lucas smiled softly.
" About me? um… not much to say, my parents have a restaurant, I have a sister who is a doctor and we are from Louisiana." She sipped some of her coffee and let out a sigh.
"I have a sister too, she lives here in Seattle, she's my only family."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Vic smiled sadly. " My sister lives in New York with her boyfriend."
"Why did you become a firefighter Victoria?" he questioned.
" Hmm…" she let out a nervous laugh "my grandma loved theater and I grew up loving theater too, I was in a play when the set caught fire and that was the day I decided I wanted to be a firefighter " she played with her napkin "My director died in that fire."
"I'm so sorry," Lucas replied and looked at her softly.
"Everything is fine now and you?" She looked at him curiously.
"Well I was born in Australia and there are a lot of wildfires there so I always knew I wanted to be a firefighter, it's not a good story." He laugh.
Vic remembered the day on the roof when Lucas told her Sullivan's story, that accent she didn't recognize was the Australian accent.
They were silent for a while, exchanging glances a few times.
"Did you know that the day of the fire in my play was the first time we met?" Vic asked.
"What? No, I don't remember that, I thought it was at your graduation." He raised his eyebrows confused.
"Captain Herrera pulled me out and then you came to me and took me to be checked." Vic gave a small smile at the memory as Lucas looked at her confused.
"I don't remember that Victoria, I'm sorry." Lucas squeezed her hand gently in apology.
"It's okay, I didn't expect you to remember."
They continued talking and laughing for some time. They felt great in each other's company and it wasn't hard to tell from the looks that Lucas Ripley and Victoria Hughes were falling in love.
