Chapter 611: Rerun's Bar & Grill

Wednesday, March 8th, Afternoon

Walking into the bar, she looked around, and finally, her eyes settled on the bartender. The short Hispanic man nodded and smiled.

"Tree Hill in the championships and like the groundhog, Angela Scott appears," Ramon "Rerun" Vasquez said.

Angela tilted her head, "Let's hope I don't see my shadow," she said.

"Let's," Rerun said.

Angela walked over to the bar, and she and Rerun kissed each other on the cheek.

"Has either of the Ash's showed up?" Angela asked.

"I think Ashlyn is in the other room," Rerun said, "You're expecting Ashton too?"

Angela nodded, "Yeah," she said.

"A reunion of the A's, it must be Championship Season," Rerun said.

"Funny, Rerun," Angela said.

"I try," Rerun said.

Angela chuckled, shook her head, and walked off. She passed by one wall; it held pictures of her throughout her playing days. The one she focused on was one where Angela stood in position waiting for a free throw, she wasn't at the line, but Angela flashed back to that game. It was in the Olympics; she wore her Team USA Jersey. Angela nodded; the gold medal game was the next one, so this had to be the semi-finals, as it was against Team France; she knew and had played with two of the women on the team. After a quick trip down memory lane, Angela moved on and found Ashlyn sitting at a table in the corner.

Angela took a seat at the table and looked at each other.

"Had to stop at the wall," Ashlyn said.

"It just kind of beats you over the head," Angela said.

"Which one were you looking at?" Ashlyn asked.

"The one from the Olympics," Angela said.

"Don't you get enough of that at home?" Ashlyn asked.

"As I live with my mom and Andy, I don't have any of that stuff on display," Angela said.

"Why not?" Ashlyn asked.

"I have pictures of my favorite teammates and me, but not else," Angela said.

"Why don't you bask in your glory?" Ashlyn asked.

"Glory is fleeting; remember you are mortal," Angela said.

"Who is getting a triumph?" a female voice asked. Angela and Ashlyn turned to see a shorter blonde woman taking her jacket off. She is Doctor Ashton Perry, MD, the third of the A's. Ashton hung her coat on the back of a chair and sat down.

"No one," Angela said.

"Angela was looking at her wall again," Ashlyn said.

"If I had her career, I would too; I have my wall; it's at my office," Ashton said.

"I don't have one; all my stuff is in storage," Angela said.

"Why?" Ashton asked.

Angela shrugged, "I have pictures of me and my favorite teammates," she said.

"Including us?" Ashton asked and gestured to her and Ashlyn.

"Especially us, that picture has the place of pride," Angela said.

"Awe," Ashton said.

"So, am I still keeping you a secret from Brett?" Ashlyn asked.

"I don't want her to feel pressure or for people to make it all about me," Angela said.

"Good idea," Ashlyn said.

"Do you need your knee check-up?" Ashton said.

"Yeah, but you know they are going to send me to the specialist," Angela said.

"Yeah, but I'm better looking than Doctor Andrews," Ashton said.

Ashlyn chuckled, "I agree," she said.

"Nathan mentioned your knee is acting up," Ashton said.

"Well, Doctor Ash, it's been doing it since high school," Ashlyn said.

"Well, Coach Ash, you need to be able to stand, and just for the quality of life, you should have it looked at it," Ashton said.

"Always the doctor, Ash," Angela said with a chuckle.

"You know, we've always had a nickname, but you never had," Ashton said.

"Andy calls me Little Angel," Angela said.

"That doesn't count," Ashton said.

Before Angela could respond, the waitress, Kora, showed up. She looked them over and nodded.

"What may I get you, ladies?" Kora asked.

"I'll have another ale," Ashlyn said.

"Malibu Bay Breeze," Ashton said.

"An ale," Angela said.

"Excellent; anything else?" Kora asked.

"Any of you want food?" Ashton asked.

"How about the make-your-own taco platter?" Angela asked.

"Go for it," Ashlyn said.

"What protein would you like with it?" Kora asked.

"How about tofu and pulled chicken?" Ashton asked.

"Works for me," Angela said.

"That's fine," Ashlyn said.

"Would there be anything else?" Kora asked, and the three women shook their heads. Kora doubled checked the order and left.

"So, you never had a nickname, Angela?" Ashton asked.

"Dash calls you Angie; you told me," Ashlyn said.

"So does his wife," Angela said.

"Angie? I don't see it," Ashton said.

"It took me a while to get used to it," Angela said.

"You'll always be our Angela," Ashton said.

"Oh! Thanks," Angela said, blushing slightly.

"But she's outgrown here," Ashlyn said.

"Hey, Ash, do you know I picked your number when I played in the Olympics, so you were on the court with me," Angela said.

"I do," Ashlyn said.

"So, why are you so grumpy?" Angela asked.

"Brett is having issues and was asking about The Cabal and revenge on a cheating boyfriend," Ashlyn said.

"Garvan is cheating on Brett?" Ashton asked.

"I don't know; she won't tell me," Ashlyn said.

"I could talk to her," Angela said.

"She's almost eighteen; maybe I'll have to let her find her way," Ashlyn said.

Kora returned with their drinks and passed them out. Ashton took a sip of hers. "You know, bring her in after the season; I'll give her joints a check to see where she needs to rehab before college," Ashlyn said.

"While doing that, you'll talk to her?" Ashlyn asked.

"Always the doctor," Angela said.

"Of course," Ashton said.

"I'll see what I can arrange," Ashlyn said.

Angela smiled, took a sip of her ale, and looked at her two oldest friends. Life was good for tonight at least.
