Chapter 612: New York
Wednesday, March 8th, Evening
If it weren't for Katrina's assistance, they would probably spend most of their time together hiding in the hotel room. Creative people, by nature, seem to be introverts. They were no different, but she found herself standing in front of a mirror, looking at herself in the nicest clothes she had brought, with Katrina looking her over.
"What's wrong?" Kat asked.
"Are you sure about this?" Alix asked.
"Yeah, enjoy yourself; you and Tucker need a break," Kat said.
"We're not normally a go-out-on-a-date couple," Alix said.
"In-bed dating would make you more friends with benefits than a couple; what would Babushka think?" Kat said.
"Nothing; she passed away four years ago," Alix said.
"How about Opa?" Kat asked and smacked Alix on the shoulder.
"Ow! That's not fair," Alix said.
"Alix, life is too short to hide or be unhappy," Kat said.
"What do you mean by that?" Alix asked.
"Go out and enjoy the city, be young," Kat said.
"You're one of the most introverted people I know," Alix said.
"I know, but enjoy yourself," Kat said.
"What's wrong, Katrina?" Alix said.
"Something on my mind," Kat said.
"What is that?" Alix asked.
"Someone said something to me," Kat said.
"What's that?" Alix asked.
"Once the devil notices you, you're never out of his sight," Kat said.
"That's dark," Alix said.
"Yeah," Kat said.
"Who said it?" Alix said.
"It doesn't matter, go have fun with Tucker," Kat said and stroked her Welsh Dragon necklace.
Alix nodded and met Tucker. They sat quietly in the back of the UBER as they rode into Manhatten. Tucker held her hand as she looked out the window. Finally, Tucker worked up the nerve to reach over, take Alix's chin, and turn her to look at him.
"What's wrong, Alix?" Tucker asked.
"I'm worried about Katrina," Alix said.
"Why?" Tucker asked.
"She's been using some rather dark language," Alix said.
"Like what?" Tucker said.
"I remember when she left Mental Lapse, she said some things cost too high a price," Alix said.
Tucker nodded, "I heard that before," he said.
"Tonight, she said something similar," Alix said.
"Is she usually this dark?" Tucker asked.
Alix shook her head, "No, but it only seems when the subject of Brian Scott comes up, well, that's when the darkness comes out of her," she said.
"Well from my understanding, Brian has that tendency," Tucker said.
"He didn't always," Alix said.
"People change," Tucker said.
"That they do," Alix said.
"Well, before you got here, Kat gave an interview to a filmmaker doing a documentary about Brian," Tucker said.
"That could be it," Alix said.
"Possible," Tucker said.
"How does it make you feel?" Alix asked.
"Why?" Tucker asked.
"He is family," Alix said.
"Vaguely, he just happens to be the sperm donor to one of my nephews," Tucker said.
Alix nodded, "Yeah, so what are we doing tonight?" she asked.
"There is this place I found that has live music every night and good food," Tucker said.
"Cool," Alix said.
"There's more on your mind," Tucker said.
"You know me too well," Alix said.
"So, what is it?" Tucker asked.
"Katrina wants me to come out on stage and sing a song with her," Alix said.
"So, what's wrong with that?" Tucker asked.
"Nothing in principle, I guess," Alix said.
'So, what song? It would be a great note in the film," Tucker said.
"She'll probably want to do, what we call her song," Alix said.
"What's wrong with that?" Tucker asked.
"I've not sung that song since our Babushka died," Alix said.
"Okay, why?" Tucker asked.
"I was never as good at singing it as Katrina," Alix said.
"Well, it will probably be a duet," Tucker said.
"What is with the positive waves?" Alix asked.
"I've nothing but positive thoughts about tonight," Tucker said.
"And look at me," Alix said.
"Enough with them negative waves, Alix," Tucker said, "I've had nothing but positive vibes about this all day."
Alix chuckled, "I needed this," she said.
"Tucker smiled, "Thank you," he said.
"You're welcome," Alix said.
"So, what type of music are they playing?" Alix asked.
"Acoustic, a mix of stuff," Tucker said.
"That's interesting," Alix said.
"I hope so," Tucker said.
The UBER pulled in front of the location, and they got out. Tucker settled up with the UBER Driver and went into the small venue. They found a table and ordered drinks. After their drinks arrived, they ordered food and listened to the live music being played, putting their worries aside for the night.
