Chapter 623: Legacy
Saturday, March 11th, Afternoon
She found her seat in the stands with her parents. Taking her seat, she looked across the arena. Memories flooded back to the front of her mind, and how she played one of the biggest, if not the biggest, games in her high school career on this court. Looking towards one of the baselines and remembered how the final play started from there. She smiled, she was either going to be the shooter or the decoy, and as it turned out, she was the decoy, but they won on that buzzer-beater.
Angela Scott got comfortable in her seat and looked around one last time before she removed her Chastity Davis Specials Sunglasses. She was probably overdoing it, but she didn't want to be spotted and people making a big deal about her being here. Angela was here for Lucas, Ashlyn, and Brett, not for herself. Leaning back in her seat, Angela sighed and pulled down her Tree Hill Ravens baseball cap. Angela's dirty blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail and fed through the back of her hat. Even trying not to stand out, Angela knew she had to look good. That was from her friendship with Chase Burke. Angela saw Chase was already in her seat, and Huck was next to her. Such was the demand for tickets she couldn't get in the same section.
Because of her friendship with Chase, Angela learned the importance of appearance. This has benefitted her throughout her career. So, Angela took care with her appearance today; the jeans she wore were fitted, and she wore black ankle boots that were dressier than practical; for her top, she wore a simple black Old Navy hoodie. In a nice extra touch, the hood's pull strings were black with blue and white strips, which all happened to be the colors of Tree Hill High School.
"You look comfortable," Karen Hargrove, nee Roe, Angela's mom, said.
"I'm trying," Angela said.
"Don't make it look like a foregone conclusion," Karen said.
"I'm not," Angela said.
"I'm trying to figure out why Lucas wanted us to wear black," Karen said.
"It's called a blackout; it shows the number of fans in the stands," Angela said.
"Oh, I see," Karen said, "He's never asked for that before."
"I don't know," Angela said.
"I wonder if he's not confident about this game," Andy Hargrove, Karen's husband and Angela's stepdad said.
"Maybe, it's the opposite," Karen said.
"They haven't lost this season, so maybe he wants to put an exclamation point on it," Angela said.
"I just find it interesting," Karen said.
"It probably looks good on TV," Andy said.
"That's probably why it was started," Angela said.
A tallish blonde came over and sat down near Angela. She looked over at Angela and her family and smiled. "Hi, Angela, Karen, and Andy," Kayla Drake, Huck, Kelly, and Bobbi-Lee's older half-sister, said.
"Kayla," Andy said.
"Kayla, how are you?" Karen greeted.
"I'm doing well, Karen," Kayla said.
"Welcome," Angela said.
"You don't mind me being here?" Kayla asked.
"No, why would we?" Karen asked.
"No, also enjoy the company," Andy said.
"I'm surprised you wanted to sit with us," Angela said.
"Well, I couldn't get a ticket with my family," Kayla said, "Kind of glad I saw Buck sitting next to Huck."
"Oh god, I don't want to be around that one," Angela said.
"I think Huck will keep it together," Karen said.
"Also, I figure Nathan and Haley would be sitting with you," Kayla said.
"With you and Haley running RBR by yourselves, I figure you'd need a break from each other," Karen said.
"For Brett, I would make the exception," Kayla said with a laugh.
"Make an exception for what?" Haley James-Scott asked as she walked over to her seat.
"Not spending time together," Kayla said.
"Don't worry about it; we're here for the game," Haley said and sat down.
"True," Kayla said.
Haley looked around, "Hi, everyone," she said.
"Hi, Haley," Angela said, leaned forward, and kissed Haley's cheek.
"Haley," Karen said and kissed Haley on the cheek.
"Haley," Andy said and kissed Haley on the cheek.
"Where's Nathan?" Karen asked.
"He's in the restroom," Haley said.
"Oh," Karen said.
"Yeah, he wanted to be comfortable," Haley said.
"Makes sense," Andy said.
"What makes sense?" Nathan Scott asked as he sat next to his wife, Haley.
"You wanting to be comfortable," Karen said.
Nathan nodded, "Yeah, my knee and back are bothering me today," he said.
"So, how have you been?" Angela asked.
"Busy," Nathan said.
"Any new students?" Angela asked.
"No, not yet, but it's looking like there will be some coming my way," Nathan said.
"Anyone, I know?" Angela asked.
"You know I won't say," Nathan said.
Angela nodded, "I do," she said.
"So, The Sun, why did you move there?" Nathan asked.
"Couple of things, I wanted out of Brooklyn, Connecticut is up and coming, the training facilities are great, they want to build around me, and I can keep Jess in the same school," Angela said.
"I heard they brought Kay in," Nathan said.
"Yeah, the coach called me about that. Because Kay and I play the same position, I was worried," Angela said.
"What did the coach say?" Nathan asked.
"That there is a plan, and they are building around me," Angela said.
"How are you and Kay getting along?" Nathan asked.
"Good, I guess we don't talk often," Angela said.
Nathan nodded and turned to look at the court.
