Hey guys! This is a new story I have had rolling around in my brain for a while. I don't know if it's any good so you will have to let me know what you think. Basically, the world is changing demigods are getting stronger scents no matter what parent. That means the younger ones are more vulnerable. Cue the gods/directors telling Percy and his friends he is in charge of finding them all and a lot of crazy happens. This first chapter is more fluff than anything. A little warning there are mentions of homelessness so if that is a trigger, I'm sorry! I hope you like it and please enjoy it. Finding Home!

Chapter 1

POV Percy

Being alone is never fun. Being alone when you're below the age of 9 is worse. It's not something I would wish on anyone. I mean sure I had my mom and as I grew up, I gained a few family members (a lot of family members). But I still know what it means to be alone.

Facing school after school as the new kid every year since you were 6, you feel alone. It's even harder to be alone when you have no protection from scary things that are chasing after you. Eating your family, leaving you an orphan. It all sucks.

That's why Camp Greco Roman is searching for younger campers. We have high-risk cases or cases that have already taken place where a demigod under the age of 7 has lost all family and ran away before they could get caught by CPS or eaten by monsters.

This means some of the oldest campers who have graduated high school or are close to graduating are taking the time to go find these orphans. Which is fine. They have no one else and as a kid who felt like they were alone for a long time, I'll help wherever I can. The thing is I'm only 19 and they want us to raise these kids. RAISE THEM. Becoming a family basically. Which okay, I and my friends are halfway to a really messed up family anyway. What could a few kids hurt to throw into the mix? Let's just hope Annabeth and I get an older bunch.

For each parent group, we have our own wing of a big ass house that we are all sharing. It's like a manor that you read about in Harry Potter or something. This house was designed by the Athena cabin and built with the help of cabin 9 over the last few weeks. Leo and Annabeth as surprising as it is, make a good team so really, I'm not that surprised it got done as fast as it did. It was built in one of the forest clearings. Far enough away from camp to feel like a different place but close enough if they needed help or vice versus.

There was no worry about monsters in the forest anymore. Ever since a hellhound almost ate me alive when I first got here things have changed. If a kid is stupid enough to run headfirst into the forest to fight a monster, they have to get permission from the camp directors, and even then, the directors set up the clearing that the monster will be in. Meaning all the kiddos will be safe to be in the forest. With supervision of course.

Each wing is set up for a different "family". Or that's what Chiron is calling us. There are eleven children that we have to find. All in the age range from 2 to 6. These kids don't have a family as I said. This means I'm fine with finding them and bringing them here but to have to parent them? I've barely been parented myself. How does one expect me to be a "dad" of sorts if I haven't even spent more than a few hours at a time with mine? It's just a lot.

Anyway, back to our "manor". In the clearing is a pathway to a beautiful garden, there's a pond, an area for pets and horses. It's nice. The wings of the house each have one master room and three additional bedrooms. The master for the couple and the other rooms for the kids. Each room has its own bathroom. There is one big kitchen that is for the entire house. One playroom, one living room, and a dining room. It's going to be like we are all one big happy family.

We started at the top of the list. Yep, you guessed that means Beth and I are first. We're searching for a little boy by the name of Frank Zhang, a three-year-old. He is said to be in Canada somewhere. This really sums up where to start looking.

"This is going to take years if we don't get more information about where to find these kiddos." My best friend Jason said.

"You're telling me. I know that I'm not 100% on board for this situation but thinking about a little boy out there alone makes me hurt for him."

"I guess we need to start asking?" Annabeth questioned.

"I'm not so sure that's a good idea. I mean who is going to give information to a bunch of teenagers about little kids?" asked Nico "I can ask the shadows though if they have seen any little kids running around."

"At least it's a start," I said

We were in two different camp vans traveling the country/Canada for these kiddos. We figured it would be smart to keep close together since Nico was the only immediate transportation back to Will who was our resident Doctor at the Manor. Which I know seems like that will attract more monsters but Leo and his cabin supped up the vans and other electronic things to be monster proof. It is sweet now that we can have play stations in our cabins and having a TV available for all these littles will be a blessing.

We stopped at a little town to take a quick break and let Nico do his shadow talking thing. I took the time to go get a few snacks from a little convince store. I was just about to go in when I heard shuffling from the alley close to the shop. I took out my trusty pen and made my way there. I checked my six and made sure no one was following. I took a few steps in and immediately I stopped. There was a little bulldog sitting in a cardboard box shaking it was so cold.

I took a few steps forward. It whimpered.

"It's okay, pup I won't hurt you. I'm here to help. Where's your owner." I looked back when I heard Beth call my name. When I looked back a little boy with black hair and big brown eyes that matched the bulldog was sitting with his arms wrapped around his knees. I blinked.

"You must be Frank," I said on instinct. The little boy nodded. "I'm Percy. I'm here to help you. You think you want to get out of that box and into something warm?" The little brown eyes widen.

"W-warm?"

"Yea. You can come home with us. You don't have to ever be in a box again. Okay?"

The little boy nodded and he slowly uncurled and reached for Percy. Percy quickly picked him up and walked back toward the vans.

"Beth," I said when I got there, she turned and gasped.

"You found him." I nodded. She walked toward us and Frank immediately tried to crawl over my shoulder to get away from her.

"Hey now. None of that this is Annabeth she's nice and won't hurt you." He was still shaking.

"No h-hurt?" he was looking up at me.

"No hurt," I promised. He relaxed and peeked out at Annabeth.

"Hi Frank, I'm Annabeth but you can just call me Beth. Okay?" he nodded.

"W-warm?" he looked up at me.

"Yea let's get you warm."

All three of us made our way to the van. Jason and Nico took the front seats with Jason driving and we crawled in the back-finding a blanket to wrap around the boy.

"We didn't think about car seats." Said Annabeth.

"I don't really think he is going to get out of my lap." She nodded.

"B-Beth?"

"Yeah, buddy?"

"Hunwgy"

"You're hungry?" he nodded. "Okay how about some fruit snacks?" he smiled a little and nodded.

She reached back to grab Frank's bag. Each kiddo had a bag that we brought with new clothes and a few pull-ups just in case, baby wipes, some snacks, and a sippy cup that we could fill with juice or water.

"Jason, I think we need to stop soon so we can get this little guy cleaned up. Where's the next one?"

"Montana, I think there are actually two of them there." I nodded.

After a snack and some water, our little companion was fast asleep drooling on my sweatshirt. I smiled down at him. I could not believe that this little boy was in a box. He had to be that bulldog too I just knew it.

I kept rubbing his back making sure he was okay and stayed asleep hopefully he didn't have to go during his nap. We should have changed him before we left. I was just happy that he was okay and in one piece with no permanent damage.

"I think we should stop at the next place; we need gas and I don't know when the last time little guy emptied his bladder." Said Jason.

"I would rather not find out in this van so could someone ring over to the other van?"

"Already there." Said Beth. "Piper? Yea we think Frank might need the bathroom soon and we need gas…Yep next stop…" she looked over at us and smiled "Yea he's asleep on Percy…Yes…" she smiled "Okay yea see you in 10."

Ten minutes later we were all jumping out of the van. Jason pumped the gas while Nico went into pee along with Frank and me. I grabbed his bag and headed into the restroom.

I put Frank down on his two feet and he started to sway from side to side.

"Need to potty?" he nodded. "Okay let's go in here." I herded him into the bigger stall and I helped him out of his dirty pants and placed him on the pot. He did his thing while I searched the bag. I pulled out new toddler-sized joggers and a tiny camp shirt that was long-sleeved. I smiled.

"All done." He said. I helped him down.

"Okay, bud. We are going to change out of those dirty rags, okay?" he nodded.

I helped him out of everything and started to put the pull-up on when he shook his head.

"I big boy." He pouted.

"I know bud but this is in case we can't stop when you need to go okay?" he crossed his arms "Please Frank, I don't want you to get your new clothes all dirty if you have an accident. Do you want that?" he shook his head no.

"I big boy." He said near tears.

"Buddy, I know you are the biggest boy ever but I really think this will be better just for now. When we get home, you won't have to wear them okay?"

"O-okay." He hiccupped. I helped him into the pullup and then I took out the wipes to get as much dirt off him as I could.

"C-cold." He shivered.

"I know almost done." I wiped down his right arm and started on his face. "Okay all done now warm clothes." He softly smiled.

After we were done, I did my own thing quickly and then we both washed our hands. Frank needed help reaching the sink but other than that we were fine. His eyes were still a little red as we were walking out of the bathroom. Annabeth was there in a flash bending down to make sure he was okay.

"You alright bud?" she asked.

"We had a hard discussion about the pull-up," I said.

"I big boy." He stated.

"Yea you are but remember what we said. They come off when we get home."

"Off. Home." He told Annabeth so she would know too.

"Of course, buddy they come off when we are home." She smiled at me and winked.

"Where home?" Frank asked when were back in the car on the way to find the next 2 kids.

"Home is in New York."

"New Yowk?" I chuckled softly.

"Yea New York. It's on the beach. Won't that be exciting?" asked Annabeth.

"Y-you live there?" he looked at both of us.

"Yea buddy we will all live together. You, me Beth, Jason, Nico, and all the other kids we pick up from places just like yours." I said.

"Box?" he asked sadly.

"Maybe, but they won't be able to do that cool trick you do." I smiled. He giggled behind his hands.

"What trick?" asked Annabeth. I looked at Frank and nodded.

He closed his eyes and after a couple of seconds, a tiny wrinkly bulldog was sitting in the middle seat.

"Oh, my gosh." She said. "You are the cutest thing ever." I laughed.

The little dog did a tail wag, put his front paws on her chest, and licked her face.

"That is cute bud but let's get our warm boy back?" The dog did the same thing closed his eyes and pop there was Frank again.

He laughed behind his hands again. After the trick, we buckled him up in between the two of us. He could just see out the front windshield his eyes round just watching. He wasn't much of a talker just kind of set there and hummed every few minutes. That might change with some love though, one could hope at least. I did notice that he had a death grip on the sleeve of my hoodie. It was kind of adorable but also kind of sad. I just hoped that the rest of the kids were as good as he was so far.

What did you think? Good idea, not good idea? Should I keep writing? This is really as far as I have gotten. I guess this is all that has popped into my head when it comes to our little baby campers. To make some things clear I will post a list of kids who are young and who are the old campers.
