The Hunger Games were widely known as only an annual event, and for a while the citizens of the capital were satiated. But as the games slipped passed, they brought nothing they hadn't seen before.

They had grown tired of only one game a year.

So the gamemakers got together and decided this: six months after every game, during the midway mark, there will be a second reaping. This reaping will only have half the amount of tributes

They called it the Hunger Trials and this is the first time it will take place.

Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Gemma Regal was halfway through her checklist before she decided to just skip to the end. Reaching beside herself, she plucked up a smooth silver knife and drove it through her pale hand. She hissed in pain, and watched as her rather sparkly purple blood splattered on the marble steps. "Blood and pain functions, check." She commented, tapping her thin translucent bracelet on her wrist and watched as the wound closed-up and the blood evaporated as if had never been there.

She huffed, her eyes glancing over the finely crafted arena. When she found out she got to work on the arena for the 249.5th game (it wasn't technically called that, but who really cared?), she was ecstatic. If she knew she would be doing something as basic and dull as physics testing, she wouldn't have even bothered with the internship. "How realistic is the neck breaking here? Let's find out." She said with a roll of her eyes. Instead, the teen went back to her work; making sure she couldn't breath during underwater, checking the softness layers of each area and making sure the gravity fluctuations functioned correctly. She recorded how well everything worked verbally, sincd you couldn't exactly take a physical copy of stuff out of here. Standing up, the girl stretched her arms above her head to ward out stiffness. She glanced up at the sky, her eyes narrowed in disapproval. 'If they're going to go with unnatural colors they should just go all out-I mean, the sky is still blue, how dull.'

"Any problems?" A sharp voice came from behind, startling Gemma. She cursed and spun around, quickly clasping her hands respectfully.

"No Miss." She said, bowing her head. Imogen Kelter, a high ranking gamemaker and in charge of this arena, had decided to drop in on her today. And like usual, it was as soon as she took a five second break. She heard a tsk sound and kept her eyes on a fixed point in the ground, which this time happened to be a purple dandelion. Otherwise they would roll out of her skull.

"We didn't offer you this job just so you could slack off." Kelter lectured, her lavender hair bobbing smoothly over her stretched skin. 'Half-century hag.' Gemma thought with an internal sneer. "This is a huge responsibility and there were plenty other promising volunteers that could have been chosen."

"Yes Miss, I understand." The teen respectfully replied. "I was only making an observation before I continued on my work." She added. She was bringing up that stupid sky no matter what.

"And that observation was what?" The gamemaker questioned, her sleek white uniform rippling in the sunlight.

"The sky would be better off as another color. Everything else is already an unnatural color, blue doesn't fit thematically." She brought up, carefully raising her head. Kelter was silent for a few beats, no doubt thinking it over.

"That is not your job. Focus on your task at hand" And with that, the woman blinked out of existence.

The girl instantly rolled her eyes. "That's not your job. Bla bla bla" She mocked the woman. How condescending. 'Fine then.' Gemma decided. Before this, she was at least planning on doing her job truthfully. A grin spread across her face. Mistakes happened, right? And guess who it would reflect on if this game had more than a few glitches, certainly not the hapless intern. "Ha!" The teen barked out a laugh, her braided black hair swung behind her.

Imogen Kelter would learn from her mistakes if it was the last thing she did.

a/n-hello this SYOT is mainly for practice before I do 24 tributes. The rules and form will be on my profile :)
