Luffy ran into the village to show everyone his new powers. In the meantime, Oriana was sitting outside with Shanks outlooking the sea. "Boss, we are going back to the ship" a man with a headband that had the name Yasopp written on it said. "Yeah, I'll be there soon"

"I still can't believe you have your own crew now. I'm curious to know the people that chose to follow you" Oriana teased. "Twelve years is a long time to grow, you know," Shanks replied with a grin.

Oriana's smile fell, "How's my father and crew doing?" Shanks noticed her change, "I met them five years ago. They were all affected by your disappearance especially Whitebeard. Last time I heard they were still looking for you" the pirate captain said as comfort.

It warmed her heart to know that they haven't given up on her, "Shanks, I…" Oriana didn't know how to ask, "Of course, we'll take you back home," Shanks said without hesitation. The girl leaned her head on his arm, "Thank you"

"Come with us, Oriana. We are going on one last voyage before leaving for good" Shanks said and extended his hand. Oriana looked at him than his hand before taking it, "Alright" and the two rose to their feet.

The two were about to board the ship, "Oi, Shanks why does she get to go with you but not me?!" Luffy asked offended. "She's a lot stronger than you Luffy and a lot smarter too, plus she can swim," Shanks said childishly.

The kid kept saying something, but Oriana just boarded the ship carefree, "Nice ship" she grinned while looking around. "Thanks" the captain came up next to her. "Boss, who is this girl and why is she coming with us?" a round man asked.

"Her name is Oriana. She is my old friend, and the true daughter of Whitebeard," the crew gasped while Shanks looked at her for a moment before continuing, "She's been missing for twelve years. I promised to take her back"

"She's the one everyone was looking for all those years ago? How did she end up here?" the crew asked shocked. Everyone's attention was on her, "We were sailing through the sea like normal and I fell overboard. I saw this island in the distance, so I swam here," Oriana quickly summarized.

"You don't know how you got from The Grand Line to East Blue?" a tall black-haired man with a ponytail asked. "I'm in East Blue?!" She wasn't just at some island close to her last location but on an entirely different sea.

"You okay?" a hand was placed on her shoulder. Oriana took a deep breath as she put her hair behind her ears, "Yeah" she nodded but in reality, she felt like breaking down. The ship set sail with Oriana climbing up to the highest point.

They came back to the windmill village a few hours later. The pirates went straight for the party bar, but the place was empty. There were voices coming from a few blocks away. The pirates came up to Makino and a small man begging for the bandits to let Luffy go.

"That's why there wasn't anyone at the port to greet us?" Shanks said, shocking the people around them. Oriana raised an eyebrow, "Why would you expect them to welcome pirates?" she asked confused.

Shanks just smiled before focusing on the people in front of him, "Luffy I thought your punch was as strong as a pistol?" Luffy was under the foot of the leader and didn't hesitate to respond, "Shut up!" and the captain walked toward them.

One of the bandits held a gun up to Shanks' head, "He told you not to move" the man grinned. "Are you willing to put your life on the line?" the bandit looked confused at him, "I'm telling you that this is not a toy" the captain pointed at the pistol.

A moment later the bandit fell to the ground after being shot by Lucky Roo as the pirate just took a bite of his meat. The bandits looked scared, "That's unfair!" someone yelled nervously. Oriana sighed and sat on the grass next to them to relax.

"Unfair? Don't make me laugh!" Yasopp started, "You think you dealing with saints?" Ben continued while questioning their sanity, "You're dealing with pirates!" Shanks finished.

"Listen bandits. You can spill food, drinks, or even spit on me and I'll just laugh it off. However, for whatever reason, if you hurt my friend. I won't forgive you!" the captain said with anger in his eyes.

Oriana smirked to herself, "Cool" she whispered. If anyone heard her, she would a hundred percent deny it. The compliment would only go to Shanks' head, and she was sure he'd use it against her in the future, especially after all the fun she used to make of him.

The underlings charged toward them with swords. Benn Beckerman stepped forward ready to fight them, "Wait, Oriana will go" Shanks informed. The pirates, bandits, and villagers looked at him like he has just gone crazy, "She will?" his crew asked.

"I will?" the girl repeated.

"You will" Shanks confirmed, "Unless, you're scared and can't do it" he started smirking knowing it would annoy her. Oriana got up and dusted the dirt off of herself. She went up to stand beside him, "You're a real bastard, you know that?"

Shanks just laughed which only annoyed her even more.

Oriana quickly stretched her arms before taking her stand, "I'm ready, small fries!" she grinned. It seemed to make them angry, and they came at her swinging their swords, but she punched some of them in the gut.

While others' weapons were kicked out of their hand before getting knocked out by the girl. It wasn't long till the battle ended and the only one standing was the leader who looked really scared by now, "Wait. He started this!"

"Seriously? How pathetic can you get" Oriana looked at him with disgust?

The bandit leader suddenly threw a smoke bomb in front of them before running away like a coward, "He's worse than I thought" she said before clearing the place for smoke. Once everything was gone, she saw the bandit running off with Luffy from the corner of her eyes.

Shanks started to panic, but Oriana didn't hesitate to go after the two. She arrived at the port and noticed a small boat in the distance. She was about to jump into the water, "Wait. I'll go, Oriana!" Shanks said as he ran past her and threw his coat and hat to her as he jumped into the water.

The bandit threw Luffy into the water but a moment later a sea king emerged from the water behind him, and it ate him along with the boat. Then it turned its attention to the boy and was about to eat him when Shanks got him out of the way.

Oriana fell to her knees as tears started falling down her face when she saw that the sea king ate Shanks' arm. She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see Yasopp who had looked at her with sympathy. It wasn't long till Shanks and Luffy came out of the water with Benn and Yasopp's help.

The girl removed the water from their bodies before the pirates took their captain back to the ship to get treated. Oriana stayed with a crying Luffy, "Don't cry, Luffy. Your smile always shines like the sun" she embraced him.

Shanks gave his arm to this boy, and she refused to let that go to waste.

Later that day, she decided to visit Shanks who was sitting on a bed in the infirmary, "Hey" she greeted awkwardly and stood by a wall. "Don't be such a stranger. Come sit down" he patted the place next to him. Oriana waited a moment before she sat next to him, "Hahaha, why are you acting like that?"

"I'm not acting any different" she pouted, "Yes, you are" he put his hand on her head. "Now, tell me," he said. "Do you regret saving him?" she asked, "No, I don't" Shanks said smiling. "What makes Luffy so special?" she had a hard time understanding how he can react like that.

"Doesn't he remind you of captain Roger?" Shanks smiled, "Roger?" She questioned. Luffy has a bright smile like the pirate king and the same black hair. 'Maybe he was the son Roger was talking about' she thought but quickly shook that thought out of her head.

The math just didn't make sense.

"No, nothing in particular" Oriana shrugged. "You'll see it sooner or later," the red-haired man said.

Three days have passed since the incident with Luffy and Shanks. The red-haired pirates were restocking their ship's supplies. It wasn't long till they were ready to set sail towards new waters. Oriana had been helping around the ship and Makino in her bar.

Shanks had told her many times not to worry about anything because she was their guest. In a short time, Oriana had become really close with Luffy who for the last couple of days had been begging her to stay with him.

Yet, she refused every time. How could she not when her family was looking for her all around the Grand Line. For Oriana, it didn't feel that bad because she'd only been on the island for about a week and couldn't feel how painful those twelve years were.

Oriana was about to climb onto the ship but stopped to see Shanks and Luffy's interaction, "I've decided to become I pirate on my own" the boy said proudly. The red-haired captain had to ruin that for him, "Either way I wouldn't have taken you with me. Like you could ever become a pirate" he pointed his tongue out in mockery.

Or it could be to encourage him.

Luffy frowned, "I will! I'll gather a crew better than yours, and find the best treasure in the world. No matter what, I'll become the pirate king!" Shanks smiled proudly at him, "Oh, so you are going to surpass us?"

"Okay, I can see it now," Oriana muttered and remembered how Roger had yelled something similar.

Shanks took off his hat and place it on Luffy's, "I'll let you take care of this hat. It's very important to me. Someday bring it back to me once you become a great pirate." the captain walked back to his ship, "That's our promise, Luffy"

Oriana smiled and ran past the captain, "Where're you going?" he asked, "I'm going to say goodbye to him" and she gave the boy a big hug, "I'm going to miss you!" she closed her eyes and enjoyed his smaller figure.

"Let's go, Oriana!" Shanks yelled from the ship. "Coming!" she yelled back before letting go of the boy, "Bye Luffy. I'm sure we'll see each other again" she smiled as she ran over to the ship. She was about to board the ship, "Oriana. Please don't go" he looked at her sadly.

Oriana stopped as Luffy ran over to her, "Sorry Luffy but I can't stay" she took a step forward, but Luffy grabbed her arm, "Please, I don't have anyone else I can have fun with. The other kids are mean, and I don't like that!"

"Luffy..." she said before looking at him. What he said was heartbreaking.

Oriana knew she was lucky to have a crew that cared deeply about her, but she forgot that not everyone was that lucky. She looked at Shanks as if he could give her an answer somehow, but there was none.

Could she really stay with him?

Oriana looked into Luffy's eyes, which she later realized was probably a mistake. But seeing his sadness and hurt was what made her change her mind, "Okay…" she whispered. "What?" the boy asked, "Okay, I'll stay" she gritted her teeth together.

"Thank you! We're going to have so much fun together!" Luffy hugged her, "What about your crew, Oriana?" Shanks interrupted. Oriana smiled down at Luffy and patted his head, "They've been waiting for 12 years. Would a few more months hurt that much?" she said sadly.

Oriana wasn't sure if she was trying to convince them or herself but seeing his happy face, she didn't feel that bad about her decision. "Let's set sail!" Shanks yelled in the background. Oriana quickly jumped up to the ship to hug Shanks goodbye.

His face soften as he put his arm on her back, "Are you sure about this?" he asked one last time. "No, but my crew is about family, and I'm sure daddy would love Luffy" she whispered for only Shanks to hear, "I'm sure he will"

Oriana loosened her hold around the captain and looked at him with a smug grin, "I'll be much stronger next time we meet. So, don't go soft on me. I want to beat you just the way you are!" Shanks blinked, "You're challenging me too?" he burst out laughing.

"If you see my father, can you tell him that; I'm sorry but he'll have to wait for me a little bit longer" tears fell from both her eyes as she tried to force a smile. Shanks nodded and laid a hand on her shoulder, "Got it. Leave it to me"

Oriana jumped off the ship and stood at the edge watching them sail further and further away.

-x-

Oriana had been staying with Makino for the last couple of weeks. She had been helping clean the bar from time to time before it opened. Since the barmaid was letting her sleep and eat there for free.

After everything was done, Oriana was going to meet up with Luffy. She found him between some buildings with other kids playing with a ball, "Oi, let me play too". They were playing with each other totally ignoring Luffy and it pissed her off.

"We don't want to play with you or your freaky powers" a boy her age threw the ball in his face. Oriana had seen enough and went over there, "Hey, stop that!" she yelled. The kids all turned to her, but the boy stepped forward with a smug smile, "And if I refuse? What could a girl like you do?"

"I would love for you to find out" she replied. The boy took the ball off the ground and threw it at her. Oriana caught it without looking away from his eyes, "So, this is what a boy like you can do. Let me show you what a girl like me can do" she smirked before throwing it back at him.

It hit him in the face so hard that the back of his head hit the ground. The kids ran away scared, and she thought that she might have overdone it but seeing Luffy's shining smile made everything alright.

Oriana picked up the ball, "Let's play Luffy" she smiled and gently threw it to him, "Thanks Oria". Her eyes widen before softening a bit, "What?" he asked after noticing her sudden change, "It's just a nickname my mother sometimes used to call me"

"Should I call you something else?" the boy asked, "No, it's fine. I miss the nickname" she smiled and Luffy smiled too. The two kept playing and having fun together until he suddenly stopped, "What's wrong Sunshine?"

"Why are the others mean to me?" Luffy asked, "Because they're spoiled brats that don't know how great you are!" Oriana said without hesitation. He looked down at the ground, "I want to have friends" she went over to him, "You'll get amazing friends that value you for who you are. Don't settle for anything less than that, okay?"

Luffy gave her one of his heartwarming smiles, "Alright!" The two kept playing.

Oriana noticed a warship coming closer with the word marine on the sail and a dog head figure. Luffy looked pale before slowly backing away, "What's wrong?" she asked, "Run, Oria" the boy said as he ran away.

A big man came toward her with an aura that reminded her of her father and even Roger. "Oi, girl. Where did Luffy run off to?" he stood tall in front of her, maybe intimidating her a little bit. "I'm more interested in why he looked so scared when he saw you?"

"Bwahaha, that brat!" the old man said before going in the direction Luffy went off to. Oriana curiously went after him, "How do you do that, old man?" she asked after catching up to him, "Do what?" he asked, "How do you make people so afraid of you that your very presence scares them?"

The old marine burst out laughing, "Bwahahaha you're a funny kid" but he never answered her question and the two continued to look for the boy. Since Luffy was stupid it was really easy to find him because he hid behind a rock, but his head was fully exposed for the world to see.

The man grinned, "There you are" and charged at Luffy before punching him, "Hey!" she felt her anger rise and ran over to them, "What are you doing, grandpa?!" Luffy yelled as he held on to his head. "Grandpa?" Oriana stopped in front of them.

"Luffy, let's start your marine training" his grandpa still had his grin. "I'm not going to be a marine. I'm wanna be a pirate" the boy declared. Oriana sighed, 'Smart Luffy, tell a marine that's not afraid to kill you that you want to be a pirate'

"What was that?" the old man asked as a warning for Luffy to change his answer. "I'm going to become the pirate king! That's the promise I made with Shanks when he gave me this hat" the boy declared, clearly not getting the memo.

His grandfather's face turned furious as Luffy ran, the man grabbed his arm thinking he would stop him, but the boy's arm kept stretching, "Luffy don't tell me you ate a devil fruit?" he said, "I ate the Gomu Gomu no mi. I'm a rubber human"

Oriana just stared as Luffy's grandfather grabbed his cheek and started walking towards the mountain. She stood there for a moment before following them, "Oi, where are you taking him?" she finally asked.

He looked at her, "I'm taking Luffy to an old friend. You go back" but the girl ignored him. The boy bounced up and down, "As I said, grandpa, I'm going to become pirate king," the old man got mad and started babbling about something.

Oriana wasn't listening to what he was saying instead she giggled as Luffy slapped his grandpa's leg, "Ow, ow, ow damn it. My body is made out of rubber but why does it hurt so much. Let go of me grandpa" she wanted to help but decided to stay out of it. It was a family matter after all.

And she about those very well.

Soon after they came to an old house in the middle of the forest. He finally let Luffy go and knocked or rather slammed on the door and three men came out with one yelling, "Stop it whoever you are. Do you want to get killed?"

"It's me," Luffy's grandfather said which was enough to silence the men, "Garp-san?" the one with the curls and orange hair asked shocked. "So, that's his name?" she muttered. They kept talking about something that she didn't bother listening to.

"What a crappy-looking dump" he commented before running after a dragonfly.

The adults got her attention when they mentioned a kid named Ace that lived there too, 'interesting' she smirked. Garp grabbed his grandson to stop him from running around, "Take care of him too" he told them.

"Who is he?" they asked, "He's my grandson" Garp replied before turning to Oriana "Who are you?" "I'm Oriana" she answered simply. "Oh, take care of her too" he turned back to them. The three looked baffled, "What? We can't".

Oriana decided to walk around and Luffy was running around playing when someone spat on him. She saw a boy sitting on a bison and he was going to spit on her too, "If you value your life you'll stop right there" she warned but he did it anyway.

The girl stopped the spitball with her powers right in front of her face before throwing it back at him. It was about to hit him in the face, but it dodged it at the last second, "Oh I missed? Shame" she smirked. The two stared at each other as if it was a competition.

She felt if she moved away, she'll lose whatever this was.

"Oh, Ace. Luffy, girl, this is Ace. He's three years older than you Luffy. You're going to stay with them from now on" Garp said. The youngest boy was still trying to get an apology out of this Ace guy, but his grandpa punched him instead, "Try to get along"

The trio protested but one look from the marine made them agree.

Ace jumped down from the bison and walked past them. Soon everyone gathered inside

Oriana took a deep breath before going too, only to see a huge trade of meat being laid in the middle. She went over to the food, but someone had grabbed her arm to stop her, and she casually kicked the person away.

The girl grabbed a lot of it and sat down close to a wall, "Oria! You have so much meat" Luffy drooled. He was about to grab some when she hit his hand, "A pirate don't share their meat, sunshine"

"But I only want one" he begged, Oriana almost felt sorry for him, but if he wanted to be a pirate, he'd have to be strong enough to fight for the food. "That's not the attitude of a pirate," she said while looking into his sad eyes.

She was about to break when a small bowl of rice and a glass of water were offered to him. Luffy ate the rice in one bite, "One more. I want one more, old man" imagine her surprise when she found they were mountain bandits and their leader, Dadan was a woman.

She tried to scare Luffy with chores, but he quickly accepted them. He explained to her that he was going to be a pirate and he'd had to learn how to take care of himself.

While Oriana was still eating, Ace got up and went out, "Where is he going?" Luffy asked before getting up to follow him. The girl didn't let it bother her, so she kept enjoying the meat while the bandits sometimes turned to her.

Oriana ignored it and once she finished, she went out of the house too. The girl looked around the forest and realized how beautiful it was. She climbed onto a tree and jumped from one to another swinging like a monkey with a big smile on her face.

Until there were no more trees to jump to. Oriana removed some branches from her view to see a place filled with trash and even the air had this smokey fog. She jumped down while looking around and noticed people digging into the trash.

She didn't really know what was going on, so she just kept going.

After a while, she came to a big wall with guards at the gate. Oriana casually walked over to them and was about to pass them till the guards stopped her, but she decided to run without knowing where she was going.

She turned the corner and bumped into someone, "Oi, watch where you're going" a blond boy with a missing tooth said, "You could have moved too" she fired back. "We got you now" a group of older guys came closer with weapons in their hands.

"Oh, no," the boy said before quickly standing up and grabbing a metal tube that was attached to his back. Oriana sighed and got up when she saw the guards had caught up as well. The two-faced their persecutors as their backs face each other.

Oriana was the first one to attack by kicking the two guards hard into a building wall. It was over quite fast, and she wondered why she didn't just get it over with from the start.

Meanwhile, the boy had knocked one of the guys out while the other four stood over him.

"Do you want my help?" she asked the boy, but he seemed too busy to answer. Oriana used her powers to hold their feet in place so the blond could knock them out quicker. Once he finished, he turned to her, "You're really strong"

"I know" she smirked and was about to be on her way, "Wait! More of them are going to come after us," the boy stated. "I'm not worried" she shrugged, "How about we stay together just in case" he suggested. "Sure, if you're scared. I'll protect you" she teased.

"My name is Sabo, by the way" he took a tophat from the ground and placed it on his head, "Oriana" she smiled. "Oh right, I forgot! I was supposed to meet up with my friend" he started running out of the city, but he stop when he noticed Oriana going in the opposite direction.

"Oi, where are you going?"
