A/N: This drabble was inspired by something that my mother did to me once. I was mad at her for weeks over it. Anyways, Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts
Yuffie twirled the old, but still shiny shuriken around her fingers as everyone else, namely Leon and Cid, argued their guts out over who was going to take care of her now that Good ol' Radiant Garden was kaput. It really didn't matter to her who she stayed with, as long as they didn't do anything to change what she was right now. She hated change. Quite honestly, she'd had far too much of it this day and she planned to have nothing change ever again.
However, some people LIKE change and they tend to think that a little change will go a long way, even if one has experienced far too much change already.
Namely, a stupid, cotton-headed, pink-clad girl named Aerith Gainsborough.
Yuffie didn't like Aerith. She was a pretty, floofy, artsy-fartsy, flowery, GIRLY girl. She was everything that the seven year old Yuffie hated... and she liked change.
She tried to change everything after they landed. She made them all get new clothes, new shoes, new homes, new friends, new memories... The list of what she tried to change was never-ending, but today, as she walked in the door while Leon and Cid were still bickering, she changed the one thing that was constant in Yuffie's life. The one thing that had been there for as long as she could remember.
Aerith waltzed over to Yuffie with a large, leather case in hand.
"Yuffie! Yuffie! I know how much you like those sharp pointy star things, and I noticed that yours was getting a little old... so I bought you a brand-new one at the weapons shop! I told the man what features yours has and asked him to make one even better!"
She practically ripped the case open in her excitement and held it out proudly to the small ninja.
"Go on! Take it out! I want to see how well it works for you!"
Yuffie just stared blankly at the metal... metal... THING inside the box. She raised her hand as if to touch the six pointed shuriken that Aerith had bought and slapped the case out of her hands, letting the twisted piece of metal that she was SUPPOSED to call a weapon clatter to the floor. Her breath came out heavily and tears stung her eyes, driving wet, frigid, burning trails of salty water down her face.
"You... You... mean, mean, mean cotton-head!" she screamed. "I didn't WANT a new shuriken! Mine's just fine! There's nothing wrong with it!"
Aerith backed up a few steps.
"Uh... but I... but I thought that you might need a little change... You know... to make the pain go away..."
"I don't care if the pain goes away!" she sobbed. "I don't care! I don't care! I don't care! I just want to keep my SHU-RI-KEEEEEN!"
Yuffie's face was red, and puffy, and mottled. Tears dripped off of her chin and splattered against the floor of the hotel they were staying in. Aerith looked at the little girl with such ferocious pity that everyone in the room noticed it. She opened her mouth to make some kind of response to that, to get the girl to accept the new shuriken, but two hands made themselves known on her shoulders.
"Don't you dare make a response, girl. I don't really care if you bought that thing out of the goodness of your heart or what, but that girl over there does NOT need that right now. I know that if I was her, I would have reacted exactly the same way. So let it go," Leon whispered.
Aerith barely nodded her head as she watched Cid cradle the crying Yuffie in his arms and give her the meanest glare possible.
She really needed to learn not to fix, or in this case replace, what's not broken.
A/N: Uh... was it any good? I don't think it's up to my standards, but right now I'm actually sick... that and I wrote this in fifteen minutes... Anyway, review if you'd like!
