Cora Jor-El

Barry was sitting in his condo, putting his feet up, about to turn on the TV when the flash of his sister Rae interrupted him.

"Rae, with two jobs and doing some work at the bakery, I don't get much time to myself," Barry complained at her presence.

"I need a word," Rae said ignoring his complaint and knocking Barry's feet on the floor as she took in the condo she had previously lived in and now rented to Barry. Barry had made some changes to it, which she frowned at, but didn't say anything about.

"Well, you gave Lena Luthor my number so sure, have a word," Barry said with a smirk as he sat up. "What's going on?" Barry knew when his sister was concerned over something and the expression she wore indicated that clearly something was up.

"The man who attacked Cora, John Henry Irons, he wanted to talk to me and well… I found what he said very interesting," Rae started. "Apparently on his Earth he raised me after you all were killed in an anti-meta attack against dad," Barry gave a nod and waited for more. "Cora on his Earth, after coming back from looking for Krypton, killed Clark, Kara, and everyone of importance to let a Kryptonian invasion force take over the Earth with barely any resistance. It seems he was trying to stop it from happening here."

"Well, good thing this is our Cora and not…" Barry paused. "What?"

"Crisis," Rae said, making Barry blink. "According to the other Earths there are changes to some worlds due to Crisis. Only the Paragons can pinpoint the changes and only if they knew the history beforehand. I swear I told Karry about our Cora when they asked about Clark, but they didn't remember her."

"Meaning Cora being on this Earth could be a Crisis change," Barry reasoned, biting his lip.

"We know John Henry Irons had to be on this Earth when it was destroyed to come back here," Rae said. "But if when the Paragons brought back our world, some of his history could have been written onto here."

"You think we're repeating his history because he's here?" Barry asked.

"I can't rule it out and if it's true… Well, Clark is everything. Kara sacrificed her powers to save him. I mean, he even offered to be the father of our kids after you did. I can't sit on my hands and do nothing and get Clark killed," Rae said.

"Could you kill Cora to stop it?" Barry asked deadpan.

"I don't want to, but if I have no other choice," Rae said sadly at this. "I am hoping we can be sneakier than that. We have something John Henry Iron's world didn't have."

"Yeah, a warning," Barry nodded.

"Okay, two things John Henry Iron's world didn't have," Rae said.

"What's the second then?" Barry asked.

"You, you moron," Rae said, pushing him playfully as she said it. "Come on, let's see if we can set a trap."

Rae and Barry ran into her new office in Starling; Kara was there along with Gypsy, Prime's Cisco, and Clark. It had been Clark they were looking for.

"Clark, what are you doing here?" Rae asked.

"We told Cora we would meet at the Fortress tonight for a word, the three of us," Clark said, and Rae bit her bottom lip. "Just don't let this go too long. I need you as backup." Clark turned back to Kara at this.

"This should be it for Francisco Ramon," Kara said. "Prime, Mutant, Karry, and us have altered the net app. All we have to do is lure him to a certain world and…"

"Then I'll activate the net which will drag him right here," Cisco said with a smirk and giving Gypsy a smile. "Don't worry Kal, we'll have this done soon." Clark groaned as Cisco said his Kryptonian name. "Oh sorry, I'm used to this face being called Kal and also being a Green Lantern."

Rae blinked at this. She remembered Karry's Barry mentioning her Clark had the same face as Prime's Clark and she knew other Clark's had other faces too, but Prime Kal was a Green Lantern. She could do something with this "Just don't run late. I know how…" Clark started.

"Why don't you go with Kara?" Rae asked, making eyes turn to her. Barry even turned to look at her. Their current plan was getting Clark to help them trap Cora to prove or disprove John Henry Iron's history. "Barry and I do a lot of tracking together. I think it made us grow even closer."

"I have actually been a little curious on the multiverse lately," Clark said. "And a full powered Kryptonian who's not a bird could do wonders. No offense, Samuel." Clark had got Samuel for Kara, after all, even though she didn't have full powers. He said it was a way to make sure she was protected. "What do you say?"

"I'd love to bring you around. Come on, let's get to my bike and I'll open a portal for us," Kara said to Clark; the two went to where Kara kept her bikes and other modes of transport. Both were already in their outfits, while Samuel gave out a screech, going to follow them.

"I'll head to my world too," Gypsy said with a nod opening a portal.

"What exactly is the plan here…?" Barry asked, a little confused.

"We found several more of our evil Francisco Ramon's headquarters but have left them alone, so he doesn't know they are traps," Cisco explained. "We updated the net app we used to trap another multiverse hopper years ago, so once we get him to a certain world I'll activate it and it will bring him here – we were even able to use devices here to make an inter-multiverse communication system so I can direct people in real time. It's honestly an advancement of our…"

"Cisco, shut up," Rae snapped, and Cisco shut up. "How long will this take?"

"Anywhere from a few minutes to hours. Depending on how long it takes us to get him to the right world," Cisco admitted.

"We need you to try to aim for the long portion of that and we also need your Kal," Rae said to Cisco, who raised an eyebrow. "Long story short, Cora may or may not be trying to kill our Clark and lead a Kryptonian invasion here. We need your Kal to pretend to be our Clark to prove or disprove this."

"Okay," Cisco said, after a moment, putting his goggles on to go and get Kal.

"Seriously? That's all the explanation you need?" Barry asked.

"Trust me. I've heard weirder," Cisco said as he opened a portal.

-Bounty-

Prime's Kal-El was in Clark's spare Superman suit Lois had leant them, while Rae and Barry also styled Kal's hair the same way Clark wore it as Superman. He was standing on top of a building in Metropolis while Rae was on top of an adjoining building, vibrating her cells so she was invisible. Barry was doing the same thing on the building with Clark. He was going to remain quiet so Cora didn't hear him as Rae had a com on so she could direct Kal if needed.

"No one will find it suspicious I am just hanging out on top of a building?" Kal asked. He was also wearing an undetectable mini camera so they could record everything.

"Clark sometimes just flies over the city. I don't think anyone will care Superman is on top of a building," Rae stated over coms.

"Are you…?" Kal started but stopped as Cora landed on top of the building. "Cora!" There was a Cora on his world too, and he was used to her being called Cora there, rather than Claire.

"Kal," Cora nodded.

"Remind her that's not your name," Rae said into the coms.

"How many times do I need to tell you that is not my name?" Kal stated, putting on his best performance so Rae had to smirk at the wording. He was talking and acting like Clark. This could work. "Call me Superman when I am in my outfit."

"Kal is the name our parents gave you," Cora said, ignoring the comment about Superman.

"Remind her of the Kents," Rae said over coms. Invisible, she could also see Barry, who was invisible, vibrating at the same frequency to remain invisible, waiting for his cue in case he was needed.

"Our human parents named us something else. The parents who raised and protected us when we came here. I have been Clark for my entire life," Kal said. It was lucky he was now well-versed in his multiverse history, which was a lot more common than him becoming a Green Lantern back home.

"Her human name is Claire," Rae added.

"You have been Claire for most of your life," Kal added to this.

"I have reconnected with our Kryptonian heritage since I left," Cora stated. "And this is why I come to you now. I know you wanted a conversation between me, you, and Kara, but Kara is not really one of us now."

"And what would make you say that?" Kal said, anger in his voice at this, and the look in his eyes were obvious. He'd grown up with an older Kara as cousin back home and also welcomed the younger clone, who was Power Girl on Prime.

"She lost her powers. The powers Rao has kindly bestowed on us," Cora said.

"Powers we did not have on our own home world," Kal added in.

"She gave them up to save our Clark," Rae added quickly, knowing Kal needed this information.

"Powers she scarified to save me," Kal added at that. "Kara is our older cousin. She lived on Krypton before it was destroyed. She is more Kryptonian than the two of us could ever be – powers or no powers."

"It is clear you don't see what I see. You have adapted to this world too well, my brother. A human wife, mongrel kids... same as Kara," Cora said looking out at the city and standing on the ledge of the building. Kal tried not to react to this – he had recently welcomed a son with Lois on Prime so the situation was the same between him and this world's Clark and under normal circumstances, he wouldn't let anyone get away with calling his son a mongrel. "You serve them, act as their servant. And for what? We are the powerful ones," Cora continued, not noticing Kal's reaction. "We are the ones with advance technology and powers. They should worship us as gods! They should serve us as is our right as Kryptonians."

Kal held up a hand and Rae and Barry knew this was for them. Kal wanted to talk on his own without them interrupting for a moment. "My sister, you need to go back to school on what the Kryptonian way was," Kal said as he moved closer to her. "Kryptonians did not take slaves, we did not expect to be worshipped as gods. We helped the universe. It is my honor to serve and protect this planet, to save my new home, too," even on Prime he worked as the Green Lantern of Earth's sector, so this was a truth for him as well as this world's Clark. "As it is Kara's honor as well, no matter what powers she may or may well not. As it should be yours, too." Kal put an arm around Claire for a moment. "I shall hear no more of this my sister. These are our people now."

"Yes, you are too far gone. I am sorry, my brother," Cora said, pulling away from Kal and lighting up her eyes. Rae and Barry could see she was going for a kill.

"No!" Barry shouted, dropping the invisibility, and using his arms as wind tornados to throw Cora off of building. Kal was fast though too, in using his own Green Lantern powers to stop the fall being fatal – the shock of the sudden situation stopping Cora from flying. Rae then ran and grabbed Cora, bringing her back up to the top of the building.

"Oh Claire…" Rae said, shaking her head at the woman.

"I guess I'll take care of all three of you now!" Cora snapped, lighting her eyes, and sending out a heat vision, but Kal held up his hand and a green shield appeared in front of them. "What?" Cora seemed confused as her attack was blocked, obviously not having taken in being saved by Green Lantern powers before in her shock.

"Sorry sis, I'm not your Kal," Kal stated with a small smirk as Cora let out a scream of rage and started attacking them again, but Kal used his Green Lantern powers to contain her in a green bubble, her heat vision hitting the green shield with force. It was more force than Kal had expected as the barrier exploded, sending all four of them flying, but Barry and Rae recovered quicker, following Cora who had taken the opportunity to escape. They couldn't let her get away.

Barry tried to use arm tornadoes again, this time to slow Cora down, but it didn't prove effective, so Rae tapped into her own powers, being more connected to the Speed Force than her cousin to speed up, getting ahead of Cora who was flying above, now fighting Kal once more while Barry did all he could to keep up. They were fighting across Metropolis now, Barry quickly changing priorities to get the public to safety as he sped those in the path of the heat vision and freeze breath of Cora's away for their safety.

They were in Central Park when a golden rope appeared from nowhere, wrapping itself around Cora and stopping her attacking altogether.

"What…?" Kal asked, as Rae and Barry stopped as well.

They looked around to see Wonder Woman herself holding the other end of the rope that had Cora tied up; but she was still struggling to get through. "You know, I forgot all about Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth," Rae mumbled as Diana and Kal landed by the two speedsters and dragged Cora to the floor. The woman still struggling against the Lasso.

"It's a good thing my Lasso can stop even Kryptonian powers," Diana stated, taking in the other three heroes. "Clark, I did not know you were a Green Lantern too…?"

"Not your Clark," Kal chuckled, catching his breath – he wasn't used to this type of fighting. Landing by Cora though, he didn't waste time in knocking his sister out, to the surprise of Diana. "That's for calling my kid a mongrel!" He added not over that comment.

"Kal!" Rae complained.

"Sorry… but I've always kind of wanted to do that to my Cora," Kal muttered. "I love her to pieces, of course, but she can be a bit of a bi–"

"What is going on here though?" Diana interrupted.

"Long story, we'll tell you on the way," Rae said, chuckling at Kal's explanation to knocking Cora out.

"The way to where?" Diana now frowned.

"The Fortress of Solitude of course," Barry smiled. "Think you can handle bringing her?"

"Not a problem," Diana said, wondering what she had got herself into.

-Bounty-

Once in the Fortress of Solitude, they had also been joined by Prime's Cisco and Kal, who had paused at being inside the place, the Kryptonian having never set foot in a Fortress of Solitude before, given Krypton was alive and well in his universe. It was something else and he thought he needed a deeper look into the place some other time.

Cora, meanwhile, had been put on a chair under red lights, to take away her powers and was already starting to rouse from being knocked out by Kal. She still had the Lasso around her, however.

"Diana, she has to speak the truth now, right?" Rae asked.

"Yes," Diana said with a nod.

"Well then, I…" Rae started.

"We've got incoming. I'm redirecting them here," Prime Cisco interrupted her, working from a tablet device now and confusing Rae for a moment, but she moved aside as a doppelgänger of Cisco himself appeared in the room. This had to be their Francisco Ramon and he seemed confused.

"Barry, punch him!" Rae said and Barry was fast in punching Francisco Ramon unconscious as Kara, Samuel, Clark, and Gypsy now appeared in the room.

"That was…" Clark had a smile on his face that disappeared as he took in where they had ended up. "The Fortress? Wait, what's going on here?" His eyes then went to the restrained Cora.

"Clark…" Cora had woken, "they trapped me. I didn't… I…" Cora was obviously trying to lie, to make them the bad guys but couldn't due to the Lasso of Truth still being around her person. "I… tried to kill you. And I would have too if Rae and Barry hadn't set up him as a distraction!" Clark looked to his alternate, who was still wearing his extra suit.

"Huh. It really is like looking into a mirror," Clark stated as Kal chuckled.

"Cisco…" Rae said as she saw Gypsy take hold of Francisco Ramon and portal out – likely going to turn him in and get the bounty. On instruction, Cisco pushed a button and played the encounter with Cora that they had filmed, projecting it in 3D in front of them.

Clark starred in disbelief as he heard his sister's and alternate's word, agreeing with his alternate on everything before seeing Cora try to kill him. Cisco shut off the video after that and Rae put her arms around Kara, who seemed just as stunned as Clark. Barry went and gave Clark a pat on the back.

"Well, that explains that," Diana sighed, having wondered why Superwoman was the bad guy in all this.

"How did you know…?" Kara asked, though.

"John Henry Irons," Rae said. "This is what happened on his world. The similarities were too much. I decided it was better to set a trap and be wrong than be right and do nothing." Kara hugged her wife; thankful Rae had done something.

"How about we find out the whys," Kal said. "Cora's still contained by the Lasso,"

"True," Clark sighed.

"Claire," Diana now spoke, holding the rope. "Why did you try to kill your brother?"

"He would stand in our way," Cora said, clearly trying to fight the truth but not being able to.

"Our way?" Clark asked.

"My husband, Weg-Zod," Cora said, and Kara's blood ran cold at that. The house of El and Zod had been enemies for the longest time, "and father-in-law, Dru-Zod. They found me as I looked for Krypton's remains. They showed me the truth. They have more of our people, Krypton survives through its people. We are going to make Earth our own. New Krypton. Humans will be our slaves."

"This isn't you," Clark said to his sister.

"And Krypton doesn't do slaves," Kal pointed out again.

"Well, I have been shown the truth," Cora pointed out.

"What does that mean?" Barry asked as Gypsy now returned without Francisco Ramon.

"I'll transfer half the bounty to you when it comes through," Gypsy said to Kara, of their capture of Francisco.

"Thanks, but I've got bigger things on my mind now…" Kara indicated Cora. Gypsy nodded to this, knowing the threat.

"I have been shown the truth," Cora repeated.

"I think I know what it means," Kara said, making eyes go to her. "An old brainwashing technique. I forgot the name of it. Used during the dark days of Krypton. Outlawed when Krypton reunited as one world."

"I don't understand…?" Clark looked to Kara.

"Kal-X," Kara, however, called out as the small robot appeared from a side room of the Fortress, surprising some of those gathered.

"Oh wow, you have a Kal-X here," Prime's Kal smiled at the little robot.

"Greetings, Kara, Cora, Kal, Kal, Rachel, Barry, Cisco and Gypsy," Kal-X said, surprising those gathered he knew who each of these people were.

"Greetings," Kara dismissed. "Can you confirm…?"

"That Cora Zor-El has been brainwashed using traditional Kryptonain techniques?" Kal-X interrupted.

"Urm, yeah," Kara stated, surprised he was ahead of the game.

"Indeed. Cora Zor-El has been brainwashed, I can confirm using internal scans," Kal-X stated, to the surprise of no one.

"Can it be reversed…?" Clark asked.

"Of course, but it will take time," Kal-X supplied.

"You can't keep me here forever!" Cora snapped now. "My husband will come and save me soon!"

"What… what does that mean?" Gypsy asked, a little concerned. "Soon?"

"Oh, you don't know…?" Cora suddenly went quiet at this, a small smirk on her face.

"Using the equipment here and combining with Earth sensors I have located something of great importance," Kal-X spoke up again – and on the holographic screen they had watched the fight a few minutes ago, there appeared an armada of ships, deep in space. "Kryptonian ships. They are heading for Earth. By my estimates, they will be here by this afternoon."

A chill ran through the group at this revelation.

"And when they get here, I will be free and you all will be sent to the Phantom Zone with our dear old Grandmother and Grandfather," Cora spoke up, causing Kara turned her head.

"What?" Kara asked.

"Hah! Another thing you don't know," Cora chuckled.

"Tell me!" Kara snapped at her cousin, knowing the Lasso of Truth would impel her to comply.

"Seg and Nyssa Seg-El escaped Krypton's destruction by sending themselves to the Phantom Zone," Cora stated the truth. "Dear old Grandfather's been there before, of course. He thought he could get them out and come here – to find us. Unfortunately, his way out was damaged along with Krypton's destruction. They are still there," Cora explained. "I'll make sure you join them."

"Kal-X can you shut her up?" Clark asked, as the little robot moved over to Cora, who injected her with anesthesia, which knocked her out almost instantly.

"Can we believe her?" Clark asked now.

"If she's right, we should get them out," Kal added.

"I think she's telling the truth," Cisco said, having put his goggles on. "I know my Earth's Seg and Nyssa a bit."

"They live on Earth now too," Kal supplied. "They're good people."

There was silence for a moment.

"A Kryptonian invasion is coming for us," Diana reminded the group.

"And my grandparents are stuck in the Phantom Zone," Kara added.

Rae took a deep breath, looked at her wife, and said, "Better call Ray and let him know we'll be home late tonight."

Post Chapter Note: Well, that was an intense chapter. Yes, there will be another chapter. Originally this plot was only the previous three chapters, but we extended this to four realizing this chapter would not take care of the Kryptonian invasion. Hope you enjoyed.
