~~Chapter One: Enzo~~

The Grand Line, an ocean route approximately located around the entire equator of the world with the sea and the islands possessing a vast number of unpredictable phenomena that are not seen anywhere else in the world. Located randomly in the Grand Line is Kuraigana Island, a dark and gloomy that was the home of Shikkearu Kingdom before it fell due to a terrible war that was fought on the island. Inhabiting the island were humandrills, a type of highly intelligent mandrill that is capable of imitating humans so much that they will mimic any trait that they witness. Due to witnessing the war that took place on the island, the humandrills learned how to wield swords and became bloodthirsty warriors; They also developed a rank system based on the armies they've seen.

Currently, all humandrills, including their leader, a humandrill that manage to imitate the strongest swordman's techniques, were in a pile, like pancakes, unconscious and groaning in pain, with the cause of their pain sitting on top of them. Sitting on top of them was another inhabitant of Kuraigana Island, a male human. He was a very handsome man with sharp facial features and a golden bronze skin tone. He has narrow, blue-gray eyes and silky, waist-length black hair in a ponytail with two bangs framing his face, except for a few strands falling in his face(Like Yatogami Kuroh, In the cover image). He was roughly 9' and had a very muscular physique with minimal body fat which was hidden by his clothes. He was wearing a midnight blue kimono with a black haori that was decorated with peregrine falcons. He also held a katana over his shoulder with right his hand; It had a black, moderately curved blade, a blue hamon that had the appearance of flames, its tsuba is golden and shaped like a rounded crown, and its hilt is wrapped dark blue. On the left side of his waist was his sword's sheath; It was dark blue with golden crowns decorating it. As he was sitting on the pile of humandrill, he appeared to be reminiscing.

~~? PoV~~

My name is Yatogami Enzo, and as I sit upon a pile of beaten humandrills, I start to think of how my journey started, and to anyone hearing my tale, I say, it all started with a slash. My family, the Yatogami, were a group of people that defended the Tenryubito(Celestial Dragons), descendants of the original creator of the world government, hence the name Yatogami, God's Night Sword, as most of us had golden bronze skin and black hair, and the Celestial Dragons like to think of themselves as gods. Although my family was guards of the Celestial Dragon, we didn't like them much because after a few generations they started to develop an arrogant, supercilious attitude to the point that anyone that is not a part of their family was a peasant, and they also started to practice slavery. Due to my family not caring about social status, they started to interact with the slaves, sometimes even marrying them, however, this proved to be their downfall, as one of the slaves could read the Poneglyph, large, mysterious steles with historical knowledge inscribed on them in an ancient script, and was also someone who bore the 'Will of D', an enemy of the Tenryubito.

The Tenryubito found out 20 years after the marriage, and turned on my family, killing all of them with the help of the Navy, however, one Yatogami escaped, the daughter of the 'Will of D', and my mother, Yatogami D. Kurumi. My mother escaped via a small boat hoping that she would get killed, however, she didn't know she went to the Grand Line, a sea that was too deadly for a small boat, luckily, she was saved by a ship, a pirate ship. My mother entered the ship, knowing that although beautiful with her golden bronze skin, blue-grey eyes, and silky black, she did not look helpless enough that these pirates could take advantage, and luckily for her the pirates, weren't the stereotypical ones, as they had their morals. After a few hours of being on the ship, my mother requested to see the captain of there join because she did not think it was safe out in the world where the Marines could find out that she was alive, and she didn't think she would find another crew like this one, and fortunately for her, the captain let her join. After three years of traveling with the crew, my mother fell in love with the captain and married him. A few months later she died due to the stress of giving birth to me, fortunately, she still had enough strength to see, and hold me before she died while whispering "Welcome to the world Enzo." Due to my mother's death, I was left to be raised by the captain of the ship, my father, Edward Newgate aka Whitebeard.

My father, Whitebeard was an abnormally large man, with a height of 21'10", he had a long face, plowed because of the advanced age with many wrinkles around his yellow eyes, and many scars running along his chest and was very muscular. Like all of his men, he had the Jolly Roger of his crew, the Whitebeard Pirates, tattooed on his back. He wore a black bandanna around his head and adorned himself with a white captain's coat, which hung loosely from his broad shoulders and bore his Jolly Roger symbol. He was bare-chested and wore light, loose pants tucked inside his large black boots and a dark pirate sash around his waist. My father was a very powerful man, as with his size and muscle came immense strength, and although strong on his own, he had a devil fruit, mysterious, distinctive fruits scattered throughout the world, known for granting their eaters permanent superhuman powers—and an equally permanent inability to swim. With his strength, my father had fame as he was one of the Yonkou, the four most notorious and powerful pirate captains in the world. However, with his fame and strength, my father also had powerful enemies, such as the marines, pirates, and even other Yonkou, as they weren't allies, however, they weren't strictly enemies either.

So to prevent his enemies from targeting me, my birth was kept a secret from anyone outside the crew, and to make sure I could survive if his enemies came after, the first thing I learned after learning how to read, write and walk was to fight. Every day, my father would make me eat breakfast, do a morning workout, spar with a random member of the crew, then he let me do what whatever I want for a bit, which was normally reading the notes that my mom left which covered our family history and reading Poneglyths, and then at the end of the day I'd spar with him. I was satisfied with my routine, and fighting with only my fists, feet, elbows, and knees, until we visited Wano which was a country not affiliated with the world government and the home of the samurai. For the first time in my five years of living, I was deeply interested in something because as soon as we landed, my father use his naginata, Murakumogiri, to had to block a slash from a dual-wielding samurai. I was deeply enamored with the weapons of the samurai, as they looked like pieces of art, not weapons, and while I was admiring the katanas, I noticed the samurai was covering them with a weird flowing aura, being curious about it, I turned to my father's first division commander, Marco, a tall, lean, muscular, blonde-haired man with a rather sleepy look on his face and some stubble around his chin, and asked him, however, all he said was that it was called haki, so I decided to ask my father during our next training session.

We only stayed for a day, however, I asked some from the crew to buy a cheap katana for me as I wanted to learn how to use it. Due to me mainly being in my room reading, as my father gave me a few days off from training, I didn't know that the samurai, his vassal, and this light green-haired lady joined the crew until I went out to ask my father to teach me how to wield a katana; When I realized that the samurai joined the crew, instead of going to my father, I went to the samurai, Kozuki Oden, a very large and muscular man of towering height, standing in at 12'6" with long, wild hair of black color that was notably gathered into a large, flat, circular plane at the top, and also included a prominent widow's peak and triangular sideburns, to request for his mentorship in kenjutsu, and when I did all he did was to laugh, and accept my request. With kenjutsu training replacing sparing with the crew, my training routine continues like that for the next two years.

While teaching me kenjutsu over the years, Oden married the light green-haired woman, Amatsuki Toki within the first two months and had a son named Kozuki Momonosuke. After staying two years with us(He's 7 now), he and his family went back to Wano while his former vassal stayed with us. With my kenjutsu instructor gone, my kenjutsu learning decreased massively, so I decided to put a pause on kenjutsu until I visited Wano, as I wanted to learn how to craft swords. Since I wasn't busy learning kenjutsu, I asked my father about haki during our next training session. He told me that Haki is a mysterious power that allows the user to utilize their spiritual energy for various purposes. Haki is dormant in every living person, but for most people, it's rare to ever awaken the ability, however, one can do intense training can awaken it. Haki is separated into three categories or 'types.' Kenbunshoku(Observation) Haki, a form of Haki that grants the user a sixth sense that allows them to sense the presence, strength, and emotions of others, as well as gain limited precognitive abilities. Busoshoku(Armament) Haki, a form of haki that allows the user to use their spiritual energy to create, in essence, an invisible armor around themself, providing incredible offensive and defensive capabilities; This form of haki can be used to injure devil fruit users that are otherwise immune to ordinary physical attacks, such as 'Logia' users, a type of devil fruit that grants the power to transform their body's composition into a natural element at will, as well as create and control it. Haoshoku(Conquerer) Haki is a rare form of haki that allows the user to exert their willpower over others; This type of haki cannot be attained through training and only one in several million people are born with this ability and anyone who possesses this type of haki has the qualities of a king, and are 'Supreme Rulers.' Since I needed to get stronger, and because I had nothing else to do, I asked him to teach me it; After that all I knew was pain.

The first thing my dad did was to make my morning exercise infinitely more difficult, by adding a shit ton of weights and increasing the reps until it reached a point where I would stunt my growth if I lifted over that, and then I learned how to activate my Armament. To train my armament, and to activate observation haki, My father had a few people from the crew throw pebbles at me while I was blindfolded so I had to activate observation to sense where the pebbles would hit and to block with armament. After six months, I got good enough that I could cover my whole arm with armament, and use observation to start dodging the pebbles instead of blocking, so my father left me on a random island with large animals and told me to survive there for two and a half years. Although the large animals here were mainly food, and sparring partners, they also gave me experience in fighting multiple opponents at the same time, coincidentally they also helped me confirm if I had conqueror haki. Within my first four months on the island, I found a young bird on the ground dying, I liked birds a lot so I ran over to rescue it, however, while I was running to it, I saw a snake slithering towards it, so I started to run faster, however, the snake got there first and was about to bite it which made me very angry, so I shouted at it in rage "Leave it alone!," and I blacked out for a second or two. When I came to, the snake was knocked out beside the bird, with the bird beside him hurt, and bloody, but fortunately still alive; I carefully picked up the bird, and the snake after killing it, and went to somewhere that I could be safe for the next week on the island. After a week, the young bird recovered enough to leave, however, it choose to stay with me because I saved it from the snake and nursed it back to health, feeding it the snake also gave me a few bonus points, so after checking its gender, I gave the young peregrine falcon aka Hayabusa, A large, crow-sized falcon, it has a blue-grey back, barred white underparts, and a black colored head, the name Suzuki. With Suzuki by my side, I finished my training on the island by becoming adept at using observation and armament haki; Although I did not learn how to control my conqueror's haki, I did the importance of speed from Suzuki, vice versa, as I taught her how to use haki. With my two and a half years finished on the island, my father came back to pick me up, and when I got on to the ship, we share a little hug, though he did raise an eyebrow at Suzuki who was standing on my shoulder. (10 years old now)

After two days of celebrating my survival and missed birthdays, I learned what happened in the world during my training. Gold Roger, the pirate king, my father's rival, was executed by the marines; I wasn't affected much by this because anytime he was near our ship, I was most likely training or reading my books, and unlike the billions of other people, I didn't care about being the pirate king, however, what got my attention was when my father told me that his name was Gol D. Roger, not Gold Roger, which meant that he, like me, possessed the 'Will of D.' The second thing I learned was that my former mentor, Kozuki Oden was killed, and this devasted me, as when I heard this I was in disbelief, staring at the ocean, and then I released a wave of Conqueror's haki in my despair, knocking some of our weaker crew members out before my father calmed me down. After I calmed down, I decided that the best way to mourn my former mentor was to immediately head to Wano, finish mastering kenjutsu there while also checking if his children were okay, as I heard that he had another child, however, my father stopped me and said I had to stay on the ship for the next few years to learn how to control my conqueror's haki, plus it was about time I learned how to navigate through the Grand Line. So, after three more years on the ship, Suzuki and I left in a caravel, a small ship that is faster and agile due to its size, though fragile, towards Wano. (13)

After arriving at Neko Port in Kabi, a region on the west side of Wano, I bought a simple black kimono and a katana to fit in because the people of Wano did not like outsiders, and then I spent the next 2 months traveling Wano while searching for Oden's children, but unfortunately, I didn't find them. Although a little depressed that I couldn't find my mentor's children, I decided to complete my second agenda in Wano which was to master kenjutsu, so I started to challenge any samurai I encountered while traveling in Wano, however, I stayed away from the Flower Capital because I would get unnecessary attention on me. After defeating hundreds of samurais that I challenged for two years, I was finally defeated by one who went by the name Kyoshiro, and due to that loss, I realized that I haven't learned enough, so I spent the next three years learning iaijutsu, a combative quick-draw sword technique, and while I was learning iaijutsu, I challenged Kyoshiro every month until my sword broke during our fight. Feeling slightly angry that my sword broke in the middle of a fight, I asked Kyoshiro where I could find a swordsmith to teach me how to make swords, so I could make one that will never break on me. He told me to go to Amigasa Village in Kuri, a region on the south side of Wano, and ask a man named Tenguyama Hitetsu to teach me, and if he refused to tell him a man named Denjiro sent him; I was confused when he said Denjiro, but I didn't pay much attention to it. (15)

So, a few days later I arrived in Amigasa Village, a place located in the clearing of a bamboo forest with houses made of bamboo fibers that are shaped like kabuto helmets with a chonmage on top. I asked around for Tenguyama and someone led me to this small shrine-like building. I knocked on the door and a large man wearing a dark tengu mask with an extremely long nose over his face, a dark jacket with light poofs along its inner edges over a light kimono, dark puffy trousers, and extremely tall geta sandals on his feet with a pair of large wings on his back, came out. After confirming he was who I was looking for, I told him why I was here, he was about to refuse, but I quickly told him what Kyoshiro told me to, he seem to think about it for a second then he accepted, so for the next seven years, I was the apprentice of Tenguyama Hitetsu.

During my time as his apprentice, Hitetsu taught me many things aside from how to create a sword, such as Meitos. Meitos are famous bladed weapons of high quality and superior craftsmanship with immense cutting power and exceptional durability that makes them far superior to ordinary weapons. Meitos are divided into four grades Supreme Grade, Great Grade, Skillful Grade, and Grade.

The Grade Swords are blades of high quality, and although they are the lowest classification for a Meito blade, they still yield far superior attributes and strength than regular blades, such as exceptional resilience and cutting power against sturdy foes. Unlike the other grades of Meito, the number of grade swords in existence is unknown.

The Skillful Grade Swords are blades of very high quality, outclassing grade swords. These swords yield exceptional strength, sharpness, durability, with their lightweight being a key factor for speed-based swordsmanship. There are fifty known skillful-grade swords.

The Great Grade Swords are among the highest-quality blades in the world, second only to supreme grade swords. These blades are well known for their incredible power and outstanding balance in strength, sharpness, and durability. In the hands of capable swordsmen, they can even stand up to the Supreme Grade Swords in combat. There are twenty-one known great-grade swords

The Supreme Grade Swords are the highest-quality blades in the world. The blades have displayed incredible feats through their usage, such as being exposed to the harshest elements without losing their edge and slashing through enormous structures. There are twelve known supreme-grade swords including my father's Murakumogiri

He also enlightened me about black blades and cursed blades. Black blades, or Kokuto, are swords that have a black blade, having been turned permanently black due to absorbing their wielder's haki after countless battles. These swords are most renowned for their impressive resilience, as they would not bend an inch if a dinosaur stepped on them; It is stated that should a swordsman turn their swords into black blades, then their grade would increase in rank, but this is rare. Cursed blades, or Yoto, are swords that carry a curse and bring misfortune to their wielders, however, their curses can be overpowered if the user's luck is superior. My teacher and his ancestors belong to the Kitetsu, a school of swordsmiths who specialized in cursed blades., and the creators of Shodai, Nidai, and Sandai Kitetsu; My teacher was the one to create the Sandai Kitetsu and Ame no Habakiri, a great-grade sword and one of the katana Kozuki Oden used.

Also, after seeing me practice my kenjutsu, Hitetsu suddenly asked me who taught me kenjutsu; I looked at him a little weirdly and told him that Kozuki Oden taught me while he was with the Whitebeard Pirates. I must've fully earned his trust after that because he told me that he was waiting for Oden's children to pick up his swords twenty years after Oden's death as Kozuki Toki used her devil fruit to send his children twenty years into the future. So, knowing that my former mentor's children were safe, I stopped worrying about whether they were alive or not and decided to just make sure I am in Wano near the time they should arrive.

Over the years of my apprenticeship, I created many swords with most of them being skillful grade or below, however, there were two that were above skillful grade. One of them was named Yondai Kitetsu, the fourth-generation kitetsu sword, and unlike Nidai and Sandai Kitetsu it was not weaker than the previous generation as it was a great-grade meito. The second was my masterpiece, Seifuku-sha no ken or simply Seifuku-sha(meaning conqueror). Seifuku-sha is a supreme-grade meito, and also a black blade due to me testing a theory; Blades turn permanently black due to absorbing the haki it was infused with, so while I was making my blade, I infused it with haki to see if it would become a black blade, and it did, however, due to that only someone with conqueror's haki could wield it or it would suck all the haki out of them. So, with the creation of my masterpiece, I had my new sword, and it also marked the end of my apprenticeship under Hitetsu. Although I could go and fight Kyoshiro once more, I decided it was time to leave Wano for three reasons, to visit my father, to fight other people to get my sword the fame it should have as a meito, and to challenge the greatest swordsman, Dracule Mihawk. (age 22)

So, after goodbye to Hitetsu, Suzuki(bet you forgot about her) and I set sail towards Sphinx, the island where my father was born, as there should be people from the crew guarding it, and they could get in touch with my dad. However, before I could reach the Sphinx, I encountered a small black boat that resembles a coffin and has candles lit on the edges that burn with green fire, at the center is a mast that resembles a large crucifix, with black sails and a seat, and sitting in that seat was a tall lean man with black hair, a short beard, mustache, and sideburns that point upwards, and strangely colored yellow eyes, which resemble a hawk's eyes, and was wearing a wide-brimmed black hat decorated with a large plume, a long, open black coat with no shirt underneath with red, flower-patterned sleeves and collar, and light purple pants held up by a decorated belt and tucked inside overly large boots. Knowing that this man was Dracule Mihawk, I stopped the ship and asked if I could have a sparring match with him, to which he accepted after looking at my sword a bit.

I was decimated. After fighting him for fifteen minutes, I was laying on my back, my body was filled with cut wounds, and I was unconscious due to blood loss. When I woke up I was in a room that resembled a medic bay with my upper body wrapped up in bandages. I put on pants that were on a bed next to me, as most of my kimono was chopped up, and headed outside the room to search for who brought me here. I roaded the halls until I entered one room that had a dining table and sitting in one of the chairs at the table was Dracule Mihawk drinking wine, and immediately after I entered the room he pointed to a plate of food at the other end of the dining table. Thinking there was no point in him saving me then poisoning me I ate the food.

After eating, I thanked him for the food, then I thanked him for saving me and asked him why he did so. He said that I interested him because I, an unknown swordsman with an unknown meito that is also a black blade made him use his sword Yoru, a cruciform and well-ornated weapon with a curved, single-edged, black blade that resembles an oversized kriegsmesser that is a supreme grade meito and a black blade, instead of kogatana. He took up my sword, which was beside him, unsheathed it to observe it, and asked me about it. I told him it was a sword I made after years of learning being a swordsmith's apprentice. That seemed to surprise him as his eyes widened almost unnoticeable, then he turned to me with veiled interest in his eyes and told me had an offer. I asked what the offer was in curiosity. He said that he wanted me to be his apprentice for a few years. Knowing that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I accepted.

After recovering the first thing Mihawk taught me was that to become a strong swordsman I needed a style that is personalized for me, so I spent a year creating a style that I based on Iaijutsu with a special branch of techniques called Kagutsuchi no Mai. Then he had me use that style to defeat all the humandrills on Kuraigana, the island that he lives on, which didn't although I was using a basic katana since doing with a meito wouldn't be challenging. The second thing he taught me was that a swordsman must know the weakness of his style, and then he sent me to fight all of the humandrills, however this time with a small knife. Fighting all the humandrills was harder this time, because I have never used a knife as a sword before, and some of them were using my techniques. The last thing he taught me was that I needed to be able to maintain my armament haki while fighting, so after realizing that the humandrills were intelligent enough to copy my techniques from watching them, I took a few of them, taught them my techniques, and haki, gave them a few graded swords after crafting them, and fought repeatedly to see and decrease the flaws in my techniques while training my ability to maintain a steady flow of haki while fighting for hours. With my training routine established, Mihawk and I fought each other each year, until I could fight him for four hours before being defeated for the next six years.

After beating all the humandrills except my team, as I had beaten them the day before, and reminiscing a little it was time to leave the Island. My first stop was Alabasta because my father's second division commander, Ace, who I learned about after getting in touch with my dad using Mihawk's den den mushi, and I wanted to meet him. So, I got up and went to my ship which Mihawk brought to the island after he knocked me out while thinking 'It is time for the world to know my name, Yatogami D. Enzo, the son of Yatogami D. Kurumi and Edward Newgate aka Whitebeard.'

Next Chapter: Meeting Ace and the Straw Hats

AN: I know that Enzo is currently overpowered af compared to the current straw hats, however, he won't be getting into any really important fight for now. he'll chill with the straw hats for most of the pre-time skip, however, he will be somewhere else post-time skip, you should be able to guess where.

Yeah, so while after writing about 2k words of this I realized that I fucked up the timeline, I tried to fix what I could because there was no way I was going to delete it and rewrite 2k words. Yes, I know that whitebeard had hair on his head when he met Oden. Yes, I know that Oden was with whitebeard longer than 2 years. Yes, I know that Oden joined Roger's crew after staying with Whitebeard for a few years. I fucked up a Lil bit and I know that.

Kaido is on Wano which is the reason why Enzo stayed away from the Flower Capital when he was challenging samurais, as it could get Kaido's attention on him

The reason why he needs to learn how to maintain a steady flow of haki for hours is that if he finds someone that is equally as skilled as him, the victor would be decided by whoever gets a random advantage or whoever has the most stamina.

Yatogami means 'God's Night Sword', and Enzo means 'Ruler of the estate', or just 'ruler', so his name means 'Ruler(of the estate) of God's Night Sword'

Hayabusa is the Japanese name for the peregrine falcon which is also a symbol of speed. the company Suzuki made a bike that they named Hayabusa.

Kagutsuchi is the Japanese god of fire, and Mai means dance, so his sword style is named 'Dance of the Fire God/God of fire'

Anyways, Drifter is sliding out, so cya next time
