A Glass of Water
It was October 22, a cold autumn day in London. The streets were still bursting with people, most buying Halloween costumes for the upcoming holiday. One of these people had bushy brown hair and matching chocolate brown eyes. Her figure was nice and slim and her teeth were so perfectly straight you would have thought she used magic to get them.
She was heading in the direction of a place that only she seemed to be able to see. We just saw a plain corner on the side street of London, but she saw an old pub named The Leaky Caldron. She stepped inside and was greeted by Tom the innkeeper there.
"'Ello Miss Hermione, What can I do for you today?" Tom greeted.
"Nothing really, I was just here to get a glass of water from Ron…Have you seen him?" The girl called Hermione asked.
"He's stayin' in room 12. Second floor."
"Thank you Tom, have a nice day." She waved goodbye as she headed up the stairs.
She walked down the hall and scanned the doors for the number 12. She had just about given up when it appeared in front of her. 'How silly of me not to see it.' She thought. She knocked on the door three times, softly and three times hard. "Just a moment!" Came a voice from behind the door. There was a loud bang and a smash, but finally the door opened. A tall redheaded man stood before Hermione. He was covered in freckles from head to foot and had amber brown eyes.
"Hermione, how nice to see you!" he hugged her.
Hermione hugged him in return and gave him a small smile. "Its wonderful to see you Ron."
"So what brings you here?" Ron asked curiously.
"I just felt like a glass of water." Hermione shrugged.
Ron moved from the door way and invited her in. He went to the cabinet and took out a pure crystal glass wither her name engraved on it, and filled it with water. "Why are you staying here anyway?" She asked, turning to him, from where she now sat. "Because….because I have some…...business to attend too." "Oh really?" She questioned. "I have things to do a person to see. You know same old same old." He replied rather quickly. She sighed at his stupidity, how could he not see that she knew he was lying?
She watched him disappear into the other room and come back a couple minuets later. Her water still sat untouched on the counter, she stared at it for a moment while drumming her fingers on the table. Ron cleared his throat to get her attention; she turned from the glass to him and waited for whatever it was that he had to say. "Hermione, we've been friends for a long time and I must ask you," He got down on one knee before her, "Hermione Jane Granger, will you marry me?" He finished pulling a large diamond ring out of his pocket.
She was speechless, this was not what she expected at all. Her mouth had opened slightly and her eyes scanned him for any sign of a joke. She had to be dreaming, Ron Weasley was not kneeling before her holding a diamond ring, was he? She pinched herself and it hurt, in other words it was real. Her opened mouth turned into a big smile and she said "Yes!" Ron stood up and slipped the ring on her finger, smiling too. He kissed her softly and looked into her eyes.
"I love you." Was all he said.
"I love you too." She replied.
Meanwhile, back on the counter her water sat still untouched, how funny to think she had only come for a simple glass of water.
