Disclaimer: I do not own Diabolik Lovers or its characters; that right belongs to Reject and Idea Factory. I do own the Original Character (OC) in this story though.
Author's Notes: This chapter takes place in February. And you were warned in the previous chapter A/N that Time Skips would be happening for a few chapters. Don't whine at me. So if you do not like that, I politely ask you to turn around and leave now because I don't see the point in you wasting your time and mine.
The quiet of the snow-covered forest was almost stifling as Shu looked around, trying not to think. He was once more waiting for Edgar and Rosa to show up like normal. Except that today was a special day amongst humans, or so Shu had been informed. It fascinated him how many different ways they could think to celebrate throughout the year. Of course, in his classes, he had learned the origin of this particular holiday. The various Saints who had been martyred or massacred.
Giving a small shake of his head, Shu put all his thoughts aside and decided to enjoy the tranquility of the forest. Letting his eyes slowly close while keeping alert for the arrival of his friends. It wasn't often he could find such quiet or peace, with his brothers running around, causing chaos in the castle. And his mother harping about him taking lessons to be his father's Heir apparent weren't helping. Then there was Cordellia, who he realized had fucked up her sons beyond redemption. And then there was his Aunt Christa, his youngest brother's mother, who changed moods at the exhalation of a breath.
In a sense, something had to give. Shu didn't want to inherit anything from his father, who was never there. Reiji, on the other hand, was obsessed with it and their mother. Not that she would give him the time of day, which at this point Shu wished she would. Matters were getting more and more complicated as time went by.
The sound of soft bickering reached his ears long before he caught both the scent and sight of his two friends. In the month and a half, their dynamic as a trio had more or less returned to normal. Rosa had finished healing and was just as rambunctious and out-spoken before the incident last fall. Slowly, Shu opened his eyes and looked in the direction he knew they were coming from. His nose caught the faint yet familiar smell of Sugar cookies, letting him know what was to be given as a gift. Not that he would complain since they were a treat that had won a special place in his heart and Kanato's.
"See, I told you he'd be here waiting for us!"
Edgar's slightly happy yet grouse-like tone had Shu fighting to keep the corners of his mouth from pulling upwards. Shifting his body and opening his eyes, he saw the duo standing at the edge of the small clearing. Their gazes were locked on him, mixed with varying emotions. He had yet to feed from Rosa since she had healed, though Shu could tell her scent was ripening once more. He had refused her last month, again due to her healing, and he didn't want to repeat how he had reacted after not acquiring her blood for that month.
"Yeah, yeah, eddy, you're right, like always!" Rosa said, her voice a gentle tease that had a faint blush coming to Edgar's cheeks.
When Edgar looked at Rosa, Shu walked towards them, the snow crunching with each step he took. He felt a sense of calm wash over him from the normality of it, something he secretly craved.
"Shu, you hear this! She is being a brat and mocking me," Edgar whined, though the smile on his face said it was an act.
"I don't know, Edgar. You tend to be right a lot of the time," Shu said, openly teasing his friend, who glared balefully as his smile got wider. "But then again, Rosa is our elder, so you know she only speaks the truth."
The loud, twin huff from both Rosa and Edgar was all he needed before taking a step back before they lunged at him. Shu was more than capable of dodging them, but he let them tackle the snow-covered ground laughing.
