If someone were to tell him 12 years ago that joining the revolutionaries would lead him to the big ass pile of paperwork would he have agreed to join them? Well yes, Sabo would have gladly accepted his fate then, but now, the idea seems pretty vague to him.
Sabo sighed.
Everything was going pretty smoothly in his opinion save for the fact that he didn't meet Luffy, but he was surely tracking him and was hoping to meet him soon enough. Don't get him wrong he had made sure to make peace with his brothers about his wellbeing in the past years he wasn't with them to which the first step was Ace. Oh god, he surely doesn't want to be beaten up like that in his whole life again ...
okay, he bragged a bit there but he's on whitebeard's ship.
He remembers Ace being in rage as his pained and angered gaze landed on him and how he cringed inwardly when the said person lunged at him with the detestable speed that even his haki couldn't comprehend.
It started with the punches but ended with both of them being a crying mess even worse than when Luffy cries and he was sure that if the said brother would have been present there he would have cried and laughed at them complimenting on how those two were looking like a bunch of crybabies.
The thought of the said brother bought a tired yet soft smile on his face, through the past months he had made sure to stay in contact with his brother still remembering the ear-piercing wails of his little brother as he listened and silently cried to him crying and wailing and stuttering out his name with pure longing and pain and happiness mixed in his voice. Oh, how he had hoped that he would be standing there with Lu in his arms and soothing him like he always did and Ace would be scoffing and smirking at them calling Luffy a crybaby and she would be...
She.
The mere thought of her left an unbearable pain in his chest and his fond smile was soon replaced with a heavy frown.
He still remembers his conversation with Ace clearly.
~flashback~
"So I missed a lot of things?" Sabo sighed heavily, just a few minutes ago he had been under his big brother getting beat up to the point that he was feeling numb now.
Ace scoffed and smiled slightly,
"Yeah, do you know how hard it was for me? You weren't there and I have to raise that idiot of a troublemaker alone an-
"Alone?" He couldn't help but interrupt his brother ranting, what does Ace mean by alone, wasn't she there? She should be there unless she was caught in the fire and ...oh no Sabo wouldn't want to let his thought roam, it was a bad sign ..and soon his stomach lurched with an uneasy feeling and it didn't help that Ace was now frozen for that matter and wasn't seem to be there. Ignoring his instincts to not ask or look up from his calm view of the sea, Sabo looked up to his big brother just to find him frozen, his face looking pale and it looked like he was gonna puke all over, the sudden intake of heavy breath brought Sabo out of his panicked mind and he cursed inwardly and shook his brother vigorously.
Ace was brought out of his musings with the heavy shaking he felt and he felt his brother's worried eyes over his form. He glanced around his surroundings and saw no one but the green of the forest and looked back at his brother.
"Ace pls don't tell me, pls do-" he was stuttering now. Sabo didn't like how his brother just went into a panicked state after he asked about her, the uneasy feeling he felt rose ten folds and he couldn't help the shaking of his hands, it was too much, he knew by the look of his brothers face what could have possibly happened but he didn't wanna admit it, what if it his faul-
"Sabo" the quiet and desperate voice of his brother bought him out of his musings yet again.
'pls don't let it be true' he chanted inside his mind like a mantra.
"You weren't alone right"
hearing his brother's pained voice Ace felt a stab in his heart knowing it would just make him more miserable after what he was gonna tell him, at first he thought he wouldn't and would never tell him, but he couldn't help it, he just got his brothers back and yes, he was selfish, he doesn't want his brother and best friend to hate him, but it wasn't fair to Sabo after all he had all rights to know as she was as much important to him as she was to him and Luffy.
Taking a deep breath he recalled everything that happened that horrible night bracing himself for his brother's hateful gaze and for him to point out how a devil he was but instead the only thing that remained was an uncanny silence between the two brothers and a pained and horrified expression on the blond.
Sabo whimpered, a desperate cry rang out of the blond's throat as he didn't know what he could say, there wasn't anything he could have done right now, one of the most important people of his life was gone just like that and his amnesiac self wasn't even there for his brother which made it more painful for him and despite that his brother didn't hate him.
Soon Ace's silent cry was mixed with his and he lunged at his big brother for the much-needed comfort and maybe Ace was as miserable as him as he hugged him desperately clawing at his skin.
That night, he got his important person back but as he gained he realized that was the day he lost too.
A pained look crossed his eyes as he remembered the last time he saw her was when she was defending them and how his brothers were crying with him to stop her, then his bastard of dad took him and he -. He sighed and looked out blankly from the window to the ocean which had always been there silently glistening and maybe listening to his raging thoughts.
A knock rang out, breaking the uneasy silence of the room.
Taking one last look at the ocean as its waves raged and collided with the shore of the island rather aggressively.
"Come in" his voice felt hoarse, clearing his thought he resumed his paperwork as a familiar orange head popped through with her famous hat for once not in her head but instead in her hand, and raised a brow at the blond.
"I know you weren't working a sec ago.."
"oh, I thought I was good at acting"The orange-haired beauty scoffed at the blond's words and eyed the blond initiating a mute challenge that she wasn't going to be the one to break that silent wall present b/w them.
The blond sighed at the uncomfortable silence that was created b/w them and finally looked up to find the said girl looking at him with a look, a look he hated so much.
"What do you want koala?!"Finally done with his friend's look, he said rather irritated, he didn't want anyone right now, he just wanted to be alone, was that too hard for people to understand?!
"Like you have something I would want and Yes I'm here because you tend to start that childish behavior of yours of self-criticism whenever we leave you alone for a minute, and by the way what's with the tone huh? never thought you had in you to shout at me?"
The pain was evident in the girl's voice, and Sabo knew he fucked up. This girl knew his mind too much for his good, she has always been good to him, and had done nothing but helped him through his up and downs and now he was shutting her out too, he felt shitty.
Why couldn't he just appreciate her presence and why couldn't he just...
he hated himself for being the reason for the pain in his best friend's voice.
"And wooh! there you go again, with that blank look and self-loathing and a mantra chatting how you hate yourself.." Her voice broke him out of his he was spacing out too much for his good.
Finally mustering up the much-needed courage he looked up to only find the disappointed gaze of his best friend...
He knew he was messed up, this was becoming his daily habit and he knew if he didn't break out of the habit he would eventually fall too deep that it would be impossible for anyone to save him.
Gathering up the courage he started- "I don't know Koala I just don't know, I know everything is fine but I just-, I don't even know what I'm doing I-I " and there he went on the ranting phase. He knew he had to try to get himself out of this state, if not for him, for his family, for his brothers, for his friends, for the people who put faith in him, and for her.
He had to do it for her, if she would have been there she would have scolded his abused self and would have gently ruffled his hair, beaming that smile he has always loved and everything would have been fine. The four of them would have been together as in the past and Sabo would've been over the moon, but the fact was she wasn't there, she wasn't there to tell him off, wasn't there to ruffle his blond locks and she wasn't there with her beautiful smile and that made it more painful for him to realize that she just wasn't there.
Koala pitifully watched her best friend rambling and frustratingly pulling at his hair. It was hard to watch the usually cheerful blond panicking like that. He was always his cheesy self, but now the poor girl couldn't tell who he was. Even though he tried it all showed on his face. Sighing tiredly the orange-haired girl opened her mouth to stop the blonds ranting as she knew if not, another panic attack was yet to come. Yes, the blond has been having several panic attacks since last month. The last time it happened he screamed for help, repeating it like some sort of mantra and even Ivankov was worried about the said boy. She knew Ivankov knew something if the constant pain and pity in his eyes whenever he looked at the blond was anything to go by. But she knew she wouldn't be able to get it out of him as the said person won't tell a fly about it cuz' she knew Sabo would've made him promise not to tell anyone. Sometimes she suspected her boss knew something about that too but Dragon never said anything about that so she never gave it a thought.
She looked over the blond and as soon she opened her mouth to call out to the blond the door burst open and out came a hooded figure followed by the sound of too many footsteps.
Koala narrowed her eyes at the said visitor she knew it wasn't Iva(Ivankov) according to the size and the presence of the said person, and definitely, it wasn't Dragon as she knew he wasn't the one to bang the door unnecessarily.
The person was wearing a deep black cloak with the hood on, Judging by the hands he/she was wearing a leather fingerless red and black gauntlet with spikes at the wrist part of her hand. To match it off the person was wearing black leather boots with a silver, wait was that a pocketed knife, at the back of the boots. to complete the look a chain stick was hanging from her hands and a handle of a sword was poking out from the edge of the cloak. All in all, by judging the appearance of the person Koala concluded that the said person was probably a girl. The sudden banging of the door broke the orange-haired girl from her shameless staring at the person and finally taking full take of the girl she took a fighting stance.
The sound of pipe clinking against the ground made her look at another person present in the room who was apparently bought out of his messed-up thoughts due to the loud banging of the door.
"Now, Now, you can put down your weapon pretty boy, I'll put mine down too."
The sudden voice of the person sent chills through Koala's body and judging by the way Sabo stiffened he felt it too.
"Who are you and How did you get here?" Sabo asked, the air around the room stilled and sweat creased his brows. He didn't know why the person felt dangerous yet somehow he don't know, familiar?
He knew the girl standing in front of him was dangerous as no one can just barge into the revolutionary's chief of staff's cabin with all the security around the base.
"It's for me to know, and you to find out boy"
Koala gritted her teeth, she knew couldn't do anything right now as the person's presence was enough to send chills through her body but she knew she can't shut her mouth too.
"Stop playing, who the hell are you- "
"I'm not here to hurt anyone, I just wanted to greet the chief here. Well, the greetings are done so I'll take my leave lady and the blue gentleman" a sudden blow of wind followed, and just like that she was gone.
They both stood there hoping to catch on to what happened.
The door burst through and many revolutionaries came inside
"Are you ok Chief she suddenly came and made many of us unconscious and was searching for you an-"
"I'm fine" Sabo heaved a sigh of relief, he knew the person he just interacted with was dangerous, and to top it all she knew him personally by the way she spoke and he didn't even get a chance to look at her face. The only thing he notice was the gauntlet and her weapon.
He looked over Koala to find her already looking at him with a look that practically said "Did you know her?"
"No, I don't who she was Koala"
The tensed structure of the orange-haired girl made him sigh and he pinched the bridge of his nose and storm out of the office in search of the boss to let him know of the current incident, who knew if she knows him, she might know his family and what if she attacked them? He wouldn't want that. The way she spoke indicated authority and something he couldn't quite put his fingers on.
The man stood silently in the room contemplating if he should ask the orange-haired girl what happened when the said girl looked at him and sighed heavily.
"The person had escaped without any damage to us or the base, pls report the situation to others too, and do ask Hack and Ivankov to be back as soon as possible"
That said the man nodded and hurried his way out of the room.
Koala looks at the only window of the room, looking in the direction of where she predicted that the girl would've vanished, and taking a last glance at the now peaceful ocean tides, she made her way out of the room to the head office to discuss the matter. Something told her, that this was just a calm before the storm hits. The poor girl didn't know how right she would be in the near future.
As the hooded figure watched the orange-haired girl making her way out of the room she smiled to herself.
Basking in the light of the now the setting sun she made her way towards the sea and disappeared.
The only thing last heard by the silent ocean was a whisper of
"Two found, one more to go"
with that, the leaf flowing with the wind fell on the water and lulled along with the tides of the water peacefully.
So I finally described half of the mysterious girl's clothing.
The update took days due to the rush of exams so I'm really sorry.
I would be updating more now as the exams are finally done with, so let's together watch where the story goes.
"HOPE YOU LIKE THE CHAPTER!"
