Being under house arrest was boring for most people but for those who could never sit still and who can't handle a dose of cabin fever, it's like a nightmare since they have nothing to do and would be desperate to find something to distract themselves with. But, in Sarah's case, she didn't mind as she kept herself busy with a few new projects and practicing she had in mind while the others are out and about; she first created new saddles for Thunder, Rumble, and Ruby and Sapphire in case her adopted parents would want to ride them.
The new saddles were fitted with leather seats that resembled chairs with armrests and bike handles at the front while the saddlebags were attached to the left and right sides and a storage box was placed at the back complete with the Extension Charm.
She also took the time to upgrade Winter and Shadow's saddles to have the same features and using Geminio, the princess was able to create enough saddles for her and Race's dragons (barring the baby dragons) but implementing the Growth Charm to have Drogon, Zephyr, Pyrrah, and Sapphira's saddles accommodate their larger sizes.
For the time being, the saddles belonging to the rest of the dragons including Skystorm's were to be put in Drogon's storage box.
As Tsukumaro and his team decided to stay and look after his goddaughter, he was able to help her with her latest project including building new Trick Arrows for her Moon Shield as well as Sarah and the gang's Phrenic Bows (created from Geminio), inspired from the Disney/Marvel Series - Hawkeye:
- Red-Violet Putty Arrows: releases a polydimethylsiloxane substance on impact
- Lavender-Blue Suction Arrows: contain micro-adhesors in place of the arrowhead, allowing them to stick to almost any surface
- Salmon Force Field Arrows: releases multiple small discs at a 360 degree when fired, creating energy force fields inside an area the discs surround able to trap enemies or oneself
- Crimson-Red Rocket Arrows: contained a small solid-fueled missile head capable of more powerful blasts than an explosive arrow
- Azure-Blue Cable Arrows: contained multiple cables within the tip that spring out on impact, latching onto anything in the trajectory and pulling them towards the arrow
- Indigo Pym Particle Arrows: possessed Pym Particles (subatomic particles that can increase or reduce mass as well as density and strength) giving them the ability to grow or shrink whatever makes contact with the tip of the arrow
- Plum Zip Line Arrows: when fired, they release cables on either side of the shaft, attaching to two surfaces on opposite ends
- Misty Rose Shockwave Arrows: release concussive blasts on impact, capable of throwing back anyone at close range
- Ivory White Syringe Arrows: equipped with syringes on the tips to inject liquids into the target
- Eggshell White Bola Arrows: releases sets of connected cords which wrap around a moving targets' wrists, legs and neck in order to take them down
- Apricot Electric Arrows: upgraded to deploy taser ribbons around their targets that keep their limbs pinned before delivering 50,000 volts of electricity to incapacitate the opponent in a 5-second discharge
- Marigold-Yellow Electromagnetic Arrows: generates extremely powerful magnetic fields upon impact with a ferrous material, creating a focal point for all metal in the area to be drawn towards the conductive field or the arrows themselves
- Candy Apple Red Flame Burst Arrows: creates bursts of fire that can knock down an opponent and incapacitate them
- Mint-Green Air Bag Arrows: deploys and inflates large airbags upon impact
- Watermelon Pink Shield Arrows: releases metallic nets which latch themselves to any surface and essentially become bulletproof shields
- Pale Peach Flashbang Arrows: flashbang grenades in arrow form
- Glacier Freeze Arrows: holds solution inside arrowheads that, upon breaking open, freeze much of a surrounding area from the exact point of detonation
- Cream Messenger Arrows: hold compartment along shafts used to store small notes
- Coffee Brown Parachute Arrows: shoots parachutes out of their tips and are used to safely jump or glide over large distances
- Drop Sky Blue Double Arrows: arrow tips split in two when fired, allowing two targets to be hit at once
- Dusty Carolina Flash Bomb Arrows: unleash extremely bright flashes of light to blind enemies
- Baby Pink Magnet Arrows: create magnetic fields to attract any metallic object
- Amber Mind-Warping Arrows: carries a small device attached to them to create electrical discharges that can incapacitate a person
- Eggplant Tranquilizer Arrows: multiple tranquilizer darts are compressed into the shafts and are released in a 360-degree circle to knock out a target instantly
- Cornflower Sonic Arrows: emits high-pitched 95-decibel sound 2 seconds after release
- Raven Spike Arrows: hold multiple metal rods that stick out of the shaft and spin to shoot spikes at a 360-degree circle
- Creamy White Luminous Arrows: omit huge blinding lights
- Ink Black Drone Arrows: releases jet-powered drones with cables that they wrap around their targets before flying upward
To accommodate the huge array of new Trick Arrows, the two upgraded the Hawkeye Quiver to hold a capacity of 400 arrows at a time while attaching the Dragon Heart Scepter to its right for ease of access.
Using some Geminio, the princess and her godfather then managed to create another two batches of the same trick arrows for Race and the gang with the old advisor conjuring up a large dresser to secretly store the extra Trick Arrows they have on them.
Given that Race proved himself with the Beast-X King Ultra Bow and since he would have to be given some training to further improve on his newfound archery, whenever they could after he returned with the others, Sarah would personally train him with his Phrenic Bow in order to aim and strike without any mistakes even while riding Athena. After taking more time to get used to his new weapon, Race had to admit that the new Trick Arrows will be a real necessity for him.
In the meantime, to make sure that she isn't bored out of her mind and not constantly plagued by the thought of reuniting with Cameron again, Ryder and Chase agreed to have him and Cadence stay with Sarah and her friends in the Ultra Rescue Tower for the time being with Yamper, Avel, Wooloo, and Ponyta helping the police puppy to comfort and play with her as best they could.
Meanwhile, over at the Adventure City Police Station, after getting confirmation that Ryan and a majority of his staff (despite some of them playing Devil's Advocate and exercising caution on the matter) didn't believe the wanted posters featuring Cadence and Sarah and the accusations thrown at them, the heroes and the PAW Patrol all helped him to comb through the police files he had on him regarding the recent attacks and big cat and wolf sightings that had been popping about for the previous days.
"Well, have you all found any clues to the cases yet?" Lusamine questioned.
"Something's fishy here, Lusamine. The pictures showing the sightings of the big cats and wolves and the attacks had a person and a puppy that looked exactly like Sarah and Cadence but at the same time, they're not!" fretted a stunted Ash, trying to keep himself from lashing out from the absurdity of what he's seeing.
"I'll betcha any sum of money that Cameron may have taken the initiative to try and make clones of them in order to frame them and have a perfect alibi," frowned Mallow, already thinking of ways of how to get back at the scientist for framing her best friend and Cadence.
"But, how does that explain the presence of the winged wolves?" Lillie rebutted, looking through the photos and reports of the wolf sightings. "The news reports say here that they're capable of using Elemental Manipulation."
"Hmm, interesting... Perhaps, the winged wolves in the reports are actually uncounted experiments that were created and tested before Animal Genetics Ultima Inc. was busted and now, they've been brought back to serve their master. Maybe they're the ones that broke him out of jail weeks ago," theorized Faba.
"Well, you're half-right on that..."
"Girlfriend, he's more like completely right. Mr. Brainiac here's smacked the nail on the head with that hotpot theory. We have a winner, ladies and gentlemen!" replied two voices (one deadpan, the other sounding like a female hipster).
The group and Chief Ryan turned to the owners of the voices and found two figures standing in the doorway; the first was a large 6'00" black-winged female grey wolf that had a white mouth, paws, tail tip, and purple eyes with her eagle wings having purple stripes and white-shaded ends, the other was a slim, African American female currently in her 30s with dark brown-black hair in an Afro style and a green tracksuit that had a pink stripe at the bottom of each leg coupled with a matching sweat top and a pair of large pink and green earphones.
"Yo-Yo, Ryan, my man! How's the police been kickin' 'round here, huh?" smirked the woman.
"Who are you?" asked Kukui, a little perplexed.
"My friends, meet our friend and volunteer policewoman, Angel," Chief Ryan introduced.
"Hey-yo, friends, what's cookin'? And, don't let my gal give you the heebie-jeebies, this right here is Raven. Heard from those bogus reports that your friends are getting a lot of flack for the attacks and wolf and cat sightings so we decided to drop by since we have something that'll be of use for you."
"You have information about all of this?"
"What kind?" Sophocles and Lana questioned.
Angel nodded while she frowned determinedly and looked to Raven as she petted him (the grey wolf standing at shoulder level with her), "My gal here; she's actually one of the very first illegal animal hybrid experiments created and put through the backburner by Team Lame-O from Animal Genetics Ultima Inc. 10 years ago."
"10 years ago?!" gasped the Pokemon School Gang and Ash in shock.
"Are you, for real?" balked Marshall, voicing the PAW Patrol's thoughts.
"I am," Raven replied simply.
"Fascinating. Angel, Raven, what else do either of you know about Animal Genetics Ultima and their illegal experiments?" Wicke inquired.
Surprisingly, it was Raven that spoke next, "It's not pretty; that's for sure. Ten years ago, the company began their experiments as they made use of plants and the usual animal test pack including rodents and guinea pigs. But, that wasn't enough for them; feeling that they could tap into any untouched potential they felt was within reach and that no other biogenetics and animal scientist has ever gone to before, they decided to ramp up their tests and start selling them for the sake of making a quick buck or two. Hmph, those human rats of stooges started playing out their science gigs on bigger creatures: giving 'em wings, enlarging them to attain greater sizes than was known, fusing two or more species into one, all to make them more appealing to the eye and make big-time money to the highest bidders. I was no exception, as you can see here..."
"Oh, and then?" Abe pondered, concerned.
"Well, for some reason, the hybrids began to develop supernatural powers for unknown reasons; Elemental Manipulation, Power Absorption, Telekinesis, Sonic Howls and Barks, the whole kit and kaboodle... That's how I ended up getting my powers as a demon. This was a breakthrough the scientists weren't expecting but they jumped at the opportunity to use them for their own gain. They began to test them out on the people, targeting them and having them wreak havoc on the city. However, the people finally had enough of their madness and after deeming them and their creators to be a threat to the public and the country, they soon burned down the original company to the ground and destroyed all of the experiments in it... Or, that was supposed to be the case..."
"...Wow," breathed a stunned Rubble.
"Dark, very, very dark," added Kiawe.
Burnet pondered as she rested her chin on her right hand, "So, Humdinger, Cameron, and whoever else he's conspiring with have learned about its tragic history and are trying to repeat it with everything we've learned..."
"But, there's one thing that we don't get right now," added James, skeptical of the powers bit from Raven's story. "How does it explain why they gained Ponchita, Cadence, and Race's Elemental Manipulation abilities?"
"The PAW Patrol and the Copycat they told us about are the only ones who are able to use that," agreed Nikki.
"That was mainly because we and Everest came into contact with a meteor that crash-landed in Adventure Bay a few years ago and we got it in our possession," Ryder noted.
"Yeah. And, Mayor Humdinger even went as far as to try and steal it once with the help of his nephew, Harold," Skye informed.
Angel pondered as well as she tried to recall whatever it was she was thinking, "Hmm, well, there was a report by the government regarding the appearance of a strange flying object that soared over Adventure Bay around the same time the hybrids started to gain their powers. Some said that it was a meteor or an alien but since it was all through witness accounts and because they couldn't get any clear footage, if they had been recording it when it came by, they were effectively null and void and the case remained open before it was shelved."
"Well, our meteor ended up crashing in Adventure Bay Beach one night and it gave us superpowers without warning after we came near it. And, it did make the Lookout float after it soared past it before the crash," Chase (who was with his friends to assist in the search for the truth) recalled, remembering the first time he and the PAW Patrol (Everest included) got their Mighty Pup powers.
Lillie gasped as she then thought of something, "Maybe those past experiments along with the wolves and lions all got their powers from another meteor! Think about it, what if another meteor crash-landed around here a decade ago and Dr. Cawthorn used it to give his creations superpowers now?"
"Lillie's right! If we can find the meteor, we'll make it our own and stop Cawthorn's schemes with it!" Rotom-Dex added in realization.
"Leave that to me, buster. I'll look into the meteor business and have it nailed for you, hook, line, and sinker," Angel smirked with a wink.
"Alright!" Ash cheered in delight.
"That's most wonderful!" Simo added, relieved.
"Then, it's settled! I'll call Tsukumaro and tell him, Sarah, and Cadence what we found out and about our next plan of action," Rotom-Dex nodded in agreement. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Operation: Framework, our mission to uncover Dr. Cawthorn's plot, clear Cadence and Sarah's names, and stop Humdinger is a go!"
"Ryder, you and the PAW Patrol continue to watch over the citizens and keep Humdinger at bay before he keeps making Adventure City topsy-turvy. We'll deal with Dr. Cawthorn and see what he's up to when we find him," Kukui informed, knowing what everyone must do now.
"Got it," nodded Ryder determinedly.
"I'll stay in the shadows and tail you guys if you need me," Raven offered as she looked at Chief Ryan. "Cawthorn's new crew have no idea about me so they won't know what hit 'em. Will it be alright with you, Chief?"
"Very well, I'll permit it, Raven. Don't try to scare everybody to death while you're at it, please," Ryan compiled before he gave Angel a warning look.
"And, Angel, don't fall back on kicking people out of annoyance and habit. I've already received enough complaints about your martial arts and what you've been doing with them while on the job. I'm also beginning to question your commitment to our cause to ensure the safety of our home with you taking things to the extreme when it's completely unnecessary."
"Yeah, yeah, no promises, Big Man."
"Well, we'll see," Angel and Raven replied, both giving him smiles although Raven's smile was smaller.
The others looked at each other awkwardly before Race cleared his throat and then said, "Well, I guess... Your help is most appreciated, girls. Hey, thanks..."
Raven and Angel just nodded knowingly, keeping their smiles on their faces.
Meanwhile, at the new Animal Genetics Ultima HQ, Dr. Cawthorn was now briefing Humdinger, Butch, and Reuben along with his new underground Mafia team on their current plan of action.
"A kid and a puppy with wings, eh? Say, Top Hat, you sure those two are the ones you want to bring in after capturing them?" quizzed one of the new crew members, looking at the wanted posters of Sarah and Cadence.
"That's them and they won't get far even on house arrest because Dr. Cawthorn and I got big plans for the two," Humdinger smirked in confirmation as his Kitten Catastrophe Crew joined him. "We've managed to get everyone riled up of the things they've done thanks to us and soon, the entire city will learn what happens when they crossed the line for me.
"But, Boss, they may have been compromised by the wanted posters and of those genetic animal sightings and the attacks but..." Butch began.
"...What'll we do about their friends? If anything, they and the rest of the PAW Patrol will do anything to clear their names and they might be pouring over the reports, leading them back to us," finished a worried Reuben.
Cameron scoffed as he turned away and explained on Humdinger's behalf and his wolf-dog hybrids joined him, "We'll wait until the moment when they're close and we take them by surprise to use as leverage against them. It's just a matter of time before they would catch on and we leave them at their weakest..."
But, the villains and the world's most incompetent mayor had no idea that they were being listened in by a small, four-legged feline (that was a Pokemon) that had a red jewel on its forehead as it narrowed its eyes from its current hiding place and quickly scurried off. When it had gotten away safely, it met up with what looked like an orange floating rock-like Pokemon as they nodded to each other and disappeared via the rock-like Pokemon using Teleport.
On the rooftop of a random building, there stood a group of seven people in black cloaks overlooking Adventure City. Their eyes were fixed on the HQ of the revived Animal Genetics Ultima company until they were joined by the Rock Pokemon and Psychic Pokemon spying on the villains and the latter went over to one of the hooded figures and relayed what it heard to its owner. The figure nodded before it looked over to the middle figure (the leader of the seven) who shook its head and motioned for them to move out and prepare for what's next.
The other hooded figures agreed as they moved out and the leader nodded to the Rock Pokemon in thanks before it revealed a Pokeball and returned the creature inside it. And, then, delivering what looked to be a glare towards the evil company under its hood, the figure left to join its group but not without whispering...
"Don't die, my boy..."
Meanwhile, in her alleyway home and using a discarded newspaper for a blanket, Liberty work up and she happily stretched, unaware of what happened to her friends from the previous nights.
When she was ready, the little street-savvy Dachshund pup went over to a wagon she has on her and rolled her way down the street to a store run by one of her close friends, Tony.
"Hey, hey, hey! Liberty, haha! I hear that sound anywhere and I just knew it had to be you! Eee-ooo-eee-ooo-eee-ooo!" Tony greeted warmly, seeing his number one customer pulling in.
"I know, I know, I just got my wagon fixed. So, how's the fruit business rolling along, Tony?" Liberty asked.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha! Well, it would be better if I wasn't always giving you free fruit but what can ya do? Anyway, did you hear the news about the fireworks fiasco several nights ago?"
"Oh, I didn't just hear about that whole debacle, I was there. Honestly, Tony, that night... Oh, it was the best night of my life! For a few hours, it was like I was a real member of the PAW Patrol and the Power Rangers."
"Ha, imagine that; Liberty, the most street-savvy puppy in all of Adventure City, the newest member of the PAW Patrol."
"Yeah, right, I wish."
"Oh, yeah, have you heard the latest scoop, Libs? I heard that this Sarah kid and the winged malamute, Cadence, got bounties put on their heads. Something about the recent attacks and sightings of big cats and wolves with wings, you know anything about that?" Tony inquired.
Liberty was shocked when she heard this, "What?! My girls, Sarah and Cadence? Huh, no way, Jose! They'd never do such a thing; attacking my people and striking fear into them, that's a low not even they would go to! And, Cadence is as sweet as a bug's ear, she was terrified of that masked Dr. Frankenstein lookalike when we caught up with them and they told us everything."
"Well, unfortunately, that new mayor who issued the wanted posters would think and suggest otherwise."
Liberty was stunned; she knew that Humdinger had a vendetta against the PAW Patrol and he wasn't as happy to hear the Power Rangers be involved in his affairs. But, with these developments, "unexplainable and atrocious developments" to put it mildly, she started to realize that there was something off about the whole thing.
"Well, no matter what that Mayor Cuckoo Puff bluffs about, I'm going to get to the bottom of this! I know those two and none of them would harm a fly after what they did for us," she vowed.
Tony nodded as he then said, "Speaking of which, you'll catch the mayor monkeying around at the subway right now. You better stay off those trains, for now, kiddo. My word of advice here: stick to your wagon."
"Thanks for the heads-up, Tony!"
And, with that, Liberty climbed back onto her wagon and darted off to the subway to see what Humdinger was up to. She could only hope that whatever that incompetent mayor was up to, it wouldn't put even more of her people in danger.
At the Adventure City Subway, Mayor Humdinger was present with his Kitten Catastrophe Crew, Butch, Reuben, and his winged wolves (courtesy of Dr. Cawthorn and his new team) as he prepared to launch the next part of his tenure as Adventure City's mayor. What was worse was that he was still making use of Kendra and her team's Cloud Catcher for his selfish purposes.
"Ah, nothing like another perfect day here in the bustling concrete jungle of Adventure City. Enjoy the sunbeam, kitties, because we're going to make the most of it in my ongoing run as mayor!" he sighed blissfully before a flustered and now frustrated Kendra appeared.
"Mr. Mayor, the Cloud Catcher's hydrometer is overloading the capacity of its pressurized internal containment chamber!
But, Humdinger raised an eyebrow as he still didn't understand her scientific talk, "What, do I look like a high-class scientist to you, Dr. Kendra?"
"Oh... What I mean to say is, we need to bring the Cloud Catcher back down, now!
"What, and ruin all this lovely weather? Whatever for?
"The Cloud Catcher is only a research tool and my team and I designed it specifically for research alone! It's not your plaything that you can use as you please, it wasn't designed to run nonstop!"
"Pfft, nonsense! It's perfectly safe and it's doing its job brilliantly and as long as I'm the mayor of Adventure City, we shall have clear skies and the sun will always shine here."
Humdinger then growled to her as he narrowed his eyes and rudely said to her face, "And, as long as those two fugitives don't get in my way, we're all perfectly fine... Butch, Reuben, take her away!"
Kendra was shocked as Butch and Reuben led her away but at the same time, she couldn't help but be surprised, curious, and concerned over the part he said about two fugitives. She and her team had also heard about the wanted posters featuring Cadence and Sarah and the bounties that had been placed on their heads.
After doing their research into their backgrounds and coming to the same conclusion as Chief Ryan and the majority of his officers had done, they ended up being very suspicious and concerned for the pair. They were completely convinced that there was something fishy about Mayor Humdinger's actions, even more so when they also discovered the signature belonging to Dr. Cawthorn.
"Ahem, citizens of Adventure City! Thank you for coming to Adventure City Grand Subway Station and as your new and already favorite mayor, I proudly present to you the next step in my plan to put the "adventure" back in Adventure City," Humdinger announced as he revealed three loop-de-loops built in the middle of the subway, shocking everybody.
"Behold! The Humdinger Hyperloop: the kookiest, swoopiest, loop-de-loopiest subway the world has ever seen!
Already, the crowd and news reporters gathered had strong opinions about what Humdinger had planned, and even Marty Muckraker didn't have nice things to say about it.
"Mm-mmm, I am NOT getting on that thing."
"What the heck?"
"What is this, what the hell is going on here?"
"Why would you think this would be good, you big, daft muppet?"
"Is this some kind of joke?"
"Are you crazy?!"
"This isn't a playground, this is a city! You're supposed to serve the people, US, even if we didn't vote for you!
"Hey, Humdinger, what do you think this subway is, some kind of carnival ride?"
"Mr. Mayor, Mr. Mayor! Mayor Humdinger, have you ever considered the possibility that this is the single dumbest and most dangerous idea that anyone has ever come up with?!
"I'm an unqualified elected official! What's the worst that could happen with my hyperloop?" Humdinger defended, not taking the stings from everyone lightly until he sees a subway consist coming. "Oh, look! Here comes the express train, now you shall see how much if a genius I am to bring back some excitement in this down-n-dirty jungle! Throw the switch, kitties!"
The Kitten Catastrophe Crew threw the switch to divert the train off of its main path and onto the Humdinger Hyperloop. But, Humdinger had completely underestimated the train's intended speed as it rode on the loops before it suddenly stopped and got stuck. The people inside and watching the whole thing screamed in horror over the danger that was present thanks to Mayor Humdinger's continued selfishness.
Even Mayor Humdinger winced as he realized that he went a step too far with his intended plan, also garnering some unimpressed eye rolls or scoffs from the wolves that joined him, his henchmen, and his kittens.
"Ooh... That's not good, I think now would be a good time to take off until I get everything sorted out," he peeped sheepishly before he and his crew prepared to make a fast getaway with his annoyed wolves joining their temporary. "Butch, get the car! Reuben, grab the kitties, it's time for us to vamoose!"
Back at the PAW Patrol Tower, Ryder got a call from one of the victims trapped on Humdinger's subway loop-de-loop failure.
"PAW Patrol, what's your emergency?" he answered.
"Help! Young man, help us! Please, you, the PAW Patrol, and the Power Rangers, we're in big trouble! Mayor Humdinger has built a loop-de-loop in the middle of the subway track, and now, we're hanging on for dear life! I don't know how much longer we can last until we fall!"
"This is a new low for subway service in this city and that's saying something, for sure!" a man and woman cried in alarm as they desperately held onto the train.
"Don't worry, we're on our way! Just hang tight!" Ryder nodded reassuringly before he ended the call and quickly signaled the Power Rangers and Lusamine.
"What's wrong, Ryder?" Lusamine asked through her Wrist Com to the PAW Patrol tower's supercomputer.
"Lusamine, Humdinger has just built a bunch of loop-de-loops in the middle of the subway system! And now, he and his kittens had inadvertently trapped some people riding on it and leaving them hanging for dear life! We're going to help them right now, can you continue to keep an eye out for him and Dr. Cameron?" Ryder informed.
"Of course, Ryder, be careful. All of you, and whatever you do, don't cross paths with Dr. Cameron should he or one of his creatures come around to keep surveillance on you for whatever he's got planned."
"But, what about Sarah and Cadence?" asked Lana worriedly, she and the others hearing the call.
"We can't have them join us. With the bounties from the wanted posters still on their heads and Dr. Cameron still at large, it'll be too dangerous for them to join us."
"Alright, in the meantime, until the matter with those bounties and Dr. Cameron is straightened out, I'll have to appoint Race as the rangers' temporary leader for the time being. I know Sarah will most likely have him be chosen given that she trusts him fully," Lusamine nodded.
"What?! Lusamine!" spluttered Ash in response, making his friends laugh.
"...What?" Race peeped through the call, feeling a little aghast as everyone laughed harder.
"Take care, Lusamine. Right now, we got to get to work," chuckled Ryder once he composed himself.
"Good luck, PAW Patrol," Lusamine finished with a nod, she and Ryder ending the call as the latter told the pups, "Okay, Pups, we've got to rescue the passengers on that train before the whole thing comes crashing down on them. Since we're down one pup after what happened to Cadence, let's put in double the effort for her sake. PAW Patrol is on a roll!"
The pups all howled in acknowledgment before they suited up again and made their way to the scene of the disaster.
As the PAW Patrol headed out and made their way to the sight of the soon-to-be inevitable crash, Muckraker was currently reporting the irresponsible and dangerous actions of Mayor Humdinger and his crew that had placed the citizens in the subway train in danger.
"Good morning, Adventure City! Marty Muckraker reporting live to you from Adventure City Subway Central and Mayor Humdinger's latest disaster; in a surprising twist that surprised nobody, the shoddily-built upside-down subway turned out to be nothing but a steaming hot pile of, dare I say, poop. And now, those poor citizens are on the brink of life and death as they do their best to hang on tight while help arrives."
Just then, the PAW Patrol finally arrived and they were shocked by the sight that greeted them. "Ugh, I can't believe Humdinger thought it would be a good idea to turn the subway system into a roller coaster," Ryder chastised, annoyed by the damage Humdinger had once again done.
"I know, right? The subway's already crazy enough without his stinkin' looptyloop and he had to blow it all up with this lousy contraption," Liberty jabbed in agreement, arriving in her wagon.
"Hey there, Liberty!" smiled Skye in greeting.
"Reporting for duty!" she jabbed again, getting an amused look from Ryder. "Oh! Unofficially, so you know... Like, an honorary member, right?"
The PAW Patrol chuckled before they suddenly heard a loud noise from above which turned out to be the stalled subway as the cars began to lean to the right side dangerously.
"Oh, no! We gotta do something or that subway train will fall roof over wheels!" Marshall gasped in alarm.
"Then, let's not waste any more time! Rocky, Rubble, you're up first; I need you two to stabilize that loop and see if you can glue it into place with your quick-drying cement," Ryder ordered, beginning the operation.
"We're on it!" the two pups nodded as they went off to keep the destabilized loop-de-loop in place.
"Skye, you're next. Since Lillie's busy with her friends on the case involving Dr. Cameron here, you're on your own for this one; I need you to stabilize the loop as best you can before it gets more out of whack."
"Let's take to the sky!" affirmed Skye as she took to the air, knowing she'll have to work twice as hard without Lillie to help out.
Back on ground level, Liberty decided to do her part as she kept the crowd at bay so they wouldn't get caught in the crossfire and be hurt. Since she was a friend to everyone living in Adventure City and knows the people and the people all know her, they were able to trust her easily and respect her words when she speaks her mind out about something. And, in this case, the safety of everyone she's friends with is no exception.
"Stand back! Beep-beep! PAW Patrol at work, friends! Make way, I'm an honorary member at the moment but my authority should still be respected!" she ordered, doing her best to keep the growing crowds back and away from danger.
With Rocky and Rubble, they began their part of the operation as the Mixed Breed Recycling Pup drove his truck to the loop as it continued to lean dangerously, small cracks starting to become apparent in the cement work as they grew.
"Arf, Hydraulic Arms, activate!" he announced, bringing out his truck's arms before they managed to grab the loops tightly. "Gotcha!"
Next, it was Skye's turn to add to the stability effort as she brought down her Fighter Copter's grappling hook and wrapped it around the top of the loop once she was hovering near it at a safe distance. She tried to pull it back upright with her vehicle's normal power but the loop turned out to be too heavy for it alone.
"Time for a little more copter power! Arf! Afterburners, activate!" she exclaimed, kicking her jet's afterburners into high gear and giving them enough force to move the loop and straighten it out again. "Okay, Rubble! Let 'er rip!"
Down below, near the infrastructure of the loop, Rubble raised his rig towards the cracks in the cement after hearing Skye's call. "ARRROOOOOO! Rubble on the double! Coming your way, Skye!" he smiled in affirmation, activating his cement mixer and spraying his rig's quick-drying cement over the cracks as they sealed them shut.
"The track's secure, Ryder!" Rocky called out.
"Yeah, Rubble! Way to go!" Skye praised.
"Great work, you three! Chase, we got to rescue those people. Are you up for it?" Ryder said before looking to Chase.
"Chase is on the case!" agreed Chase as he jumped out of his Pupmobile and ran into the building that's the closest to the track before tying himself to one of the pillars, getting the people's attention.
"Don't worry, we'll get you down! Arf! Zipline, shoot and lock!" he ordered, activating his Pup Pack's zipline as it launched and connected to the door of the subway train.
But, just as he was about to zip across, it happened...
Chase froze in fright as he looked down (forgetting about the golden rule of heights and what to do when confronted with them), his fears and anxiety from his past running high again and making him unable to perform his rescue. The people in the subway train looked on worriedly as they saw him back away and lean against the pillar as his past continued to haunt him. This caught Skye's attention as she saw the team's pup leader looking petrified.
"Uh, Ryder, I think we have a major problem!" she informed, knowing that Chase was also in need of help.
"What's going on?" the hero boy asked, now greatly concerned.
"It's Chase, something's not right with him. He's just standing there and it looks like he's afraid."
Ryder quickly brought out his binoculars and to his horror, he saw Chase being unable to complete his part of the rescue as his fears from before took him over once more. "Oh, no, Chase is in trouble! Skye, bring him down quickly! Marshall, you take over, get your ladder up to the train and help bring the people down!" he told his Fire Pup, coming up with a Plan B.
"I'm pumped!" nodded Marshall, making his way to the roof of the train through the car garage.
Once he was close enough, the Fire Pup prepared to get the citizens down for his best friend. "I think I can reach them from here easily. Here goes, arf! Fire ladder, release!" he commanded, activating his Pupmobile's ladder as two small legs came out from the sides of his truck and the back extended, the ladder flipping over and extending all the way to the closest train car before him as it attached itself to the door.
"Please don't panic, everyone! Make your way nice and easy out of the train car and proceed down the ladders as you exit," he called, allowing the people to get to the doors where his ladder is and opening them for the evacuation.
"This should make things easier! Ladder Slide, go!" he continued, activating a slide that allowed people to slide down to safety.
As Marshall got the people down, Skye quickly hovered over to Chase and landed her Fighter Copter to help and see what's gotten him scared.
"Hang on, Chase! I'm coming to get you!" she called as she approached him. "What's wrong, tell me what just happened there?"
"I don't know... I just, froze," Chase answered meekly. "I had it right there, but..."
Skye frowned worriedly as she laid a paw on him, "It's okay, Chase. We got everyone off the train and they're safe, let's get you down."
Taking Chase with her as he started to calm down from his short panic attack, Skye returned to the rest of the PAW Patrol as they quickly joined the pair to check on the police pup and see if he had a panic attack or something that caused him to freeze in fright during the mission.
"Great work, Pups! Another job well done!" Ryder smiled before he saw Chase and Skye coming towards them and he ran over to his best friend before hugging him. "Chase! Thank goodness, we were so worried!"
"I'm sorry, Ryder... I don't know what happened," frowned Chase apologetically. "I was about to do it, but... I don't know..."
Ryder also frowned apologetically, having now started to regret coaxing Chase and Cadence to return to Adventure City without making sure they were fully ready to tackle the place with everything that happened.
"I'm so sorry, Chase. This is all my fault; I thought you'd be fine in Adventure City and so would Cadence after all this time. But, I was wrong, it's all still too much for you, especially with Dr. Cawthorn still at large and those bounties placed on her and Sarah's heads," he apologized.
"Look, Ryder, it's okay. I'm fine, I just-"
"No, Chase, I really mean it. You weren't ready to go through all of this all over again after what happened before," Ryder interrupted gently. "Why don't we get you back to the towers and have you take a break with Cadence? We'll handle the rescues for a while until you're both ready to help us again..."
Shocked and heartbroken, Chase couldn't believe what he was hearing; he thought Ryder was telling him to quit the team for a moment when in truth, his best friend had to keep him out of danger for a minute after realizing that his fears of returning had come back. He thought his best friend that took him in years ago was pitying him for his misfortunes and the trauma that he went through prior to his adoption. And, now, he felt like he was being betrayed by the one person he saw as a true friend and a father figure.
"What?! Ryder, wha-? No, you can't, that's not fair!" he objected, his troubled mind now racing.
"I'm sorry, Chase. I know it's hard for you but there are times when we have to acknowledge that we have to take a step back from our duties to compose ourselves and maintain a clear head in any sort of danger," Ryder insisted, not wanting to have Chase think otherwise.
"Ryder..."
"This is the way it's gotta be for a while..."
"...I see, so that's how it is, then? Is this how you feel about me, then?" the heartbroken Chase accused, shocking the other pups and Ryder.
"Chase, no! I didn't mean it like that, I-!"
"You knew it all along from before, didn't you?! I never wanted to come back to Adventure City when Liberty made that call and the same can be said for Cadence after what Dr. Cawthorn and his old team put her through! If she had to go through the same things I did today or worse, meet the man who'd broken her in heart, mind, body, and spirit all over again had he'd shown up, she'd agree to never come back, too! I trusted you, Ryder; you told me everything would be fine after all this time but NOTHING'S CHANGED! I'm still the scared and frightened little puppy that everyone once thought I was! It won't be different for Cadence even before she was kidnapped and forcibly given her wings against her will! What kind of leader am I; what kind of leader gives up on someone the second things get hard including the puppy I loved?!"
"Chase, I..." Ryder began, speechless and now regretting his previous words before the angered and tearful Chase turned heel and ran away, prompting the hero boy to chase him. "Chase, come back! Wait! I really didn't mean it like that, I swear!"
But, it was too late; Chase had made up his mind and now, he wanted to get away from Ryder and wanted some time alone to compose himself and think about everything he had been through. The pups and Liberty, fearing that something bad might happen to the police pup and knowing how Cadence would react when she hears about Chase's latest failure and his fears getting the better of him, quickly took after the two and hoped they could help patch things up before they got worse.
As for the police pup in question, he ran as fast as he could through the streets, not paying any attention to the people around him as he wanted to get as far away from Ryder as possible and not wanting anything to do with him for the moment. All the while, he blamed himself for everything that happened since he and Cadence heard they were to come with him and the rest of the team to Adventure City and the last place the two would want to be in. He couldn't save the last victims from Humdinger's fireworks disaster, he was beating himself up for not completing his part of the subway rescue mission after he let his fears get the better of him, and recently, he couldn't protect the puppy that he loved most from the reappearance of Dr. Cawthorn and his creations. He felt like a total failure and he wasn't sure if he could really be the hero that he truly was after everything that happened since his and Cadence's return much less look his team and Cadence in the eye again.
But, as he ran through the same pedestrian crosswalk he was almost run over on years ago, he had no idea that he was seen by Reuben and Butch as they saw him running by.
"Oooh, looks like we got one of those PAW Patrol pups all on his lonesome..."
"Get the van," they sneered.
While the PAW Patrol was dealing with the fouled-up roller coaster on Humdinger's part and as Chase reached a terrible crossroads regarding his previous fate and what had and hadn't changed in his mind regarding Adventure City, Angel and Tsukumaro had joined forces and were combing the forest bordering Adventure City for the meteor Lillie and Rotom-Dex alluded them to (after the latter briefed the two of everyone's plans). Seeing that Angel would need some help in finding the meteor and with Raven tagging along with them and the Power Rangers from the shadows, the old advisor offered to lend his and his team's assistance and to keep her from going to the extreme in her crime-fighting, to which she was keen to oblige.
"Ms. Angel, you did mention that the reports involving this meteor thing from ten years ago landed here... Where exactly do you suppose the meteor could have crash-landed?" he questioned the policewoman.
"Search me, homie. But, it's, as the old saying goes, 'hiding in plain sight'," Angel answered, waving a tracking device around as she kept her eyes and ears open for a signal from the meteor they were looking for. "Maybe somebody already found out about the meteor and stashed the big rock somewhere around this force, right under our noses or in front of our faces."
"There it is, Kitties! Right where we and Cameron thought it'd be after we dug it out," Mayor Humdinger's voice rang out at the same time as Angel's tracker started to ring faster as if it found something close by and at Humdinger's current location. "Who'd ever thought that another meteor, like the one responsible for giving the PAW Patrol their Mighty Pup powers, would end up being here in this very forest?"
Angel and Tsukumaro looked at each other as they recognized the voice and nodded, the policewoman shushing him as they quietly crept their way over, only to find Humdinger, his KCC, and his wolves at a section of trees near a rock covered in moss and with digging tools at hand.
"Now, you and the wolves keep an eye out for strangers, Kitties! Wouldn't want anybody else to sneak in and snag a few pieces for themselves and know that we're here, would we?"
The Kitten Catastrophe Crew nodded as they and the wolves stood on guard, prompting Angel to shut down her tracking device and she and Tsukumaro to duck down before they would fully look their way. Carefully peeking out so as not to grab their attention, the two of them watched as Humdinger got some mining tools on hand as well and proceeded to break a small piece that he deemed useful for something off of it.
"Mayor Humdinger..." they whispered, surprised.
"But, what's he doing chiseling down a piece of a moss rock? What could he possibly want with it?" Tsukumaro added suspiciously before Humdinger finished his work and took some of the moss off, revealing it to be a piece of a meteor akin to the meteor owned by the PAW Patrol.
"The meteor...!" Angel and Tsukumaro whispered, now completely shocked as the incompetent mayor collected more samples of the meteor and placed them in a brown bag.
"Ha, perfect! The radiation on this meteor piece and the others we've collected should be more than enough for Cameron," he sneered in delight as he, his wolves, and the KCC left. "Come along, Kitties, time to go home! Our genetics-happy friend will be needing these babies for his pets..."
When Humdinger and his menagerie had gone and were now out of sight, Tsukumaro and Angel quickly snuck out of their hiding place and went over to the moss-covered meteor, the old advisor summoning his Pokemon and Phoe-Phoe to guard the area and make sure they don't return to cause trouble or give them any grief and to ward off curious onlookers exploring the forest. The two were astounded by the meteor's presence as it glowed and gave off energy from its radiation.
"How do you like that? This is where the meteor has been in for the last decade and now, Humdinger's mining pieces of it," Angel gasped.
"It looks like he's giving pieces he had been mining to Dr. Cawthorn and his scientist mongrels framing my goddaughter and Ms. Cadence for his creations. That explains why he was able to alter their genetic materials to give them the power of Elemental Manipulation, it's because the meteor's supernatural properties gave it to them," Tsukumaro agreed.
"And now, the same power that's being used by the PAW Patrol is now being used against them, the Power Rangers, and everyone else in the city. We need to take this for evidence if we're to create a case against Animal Genetics Ultima Inc. and shut them down permanently. What are we gonna do?"
"Allow me," Tsukumaro smirked with a wink, taking out his wand (which surprised the policewoman) and giving off a flick and a mental teleportation spell to send it to the PAW Patrol and Ultra Rescue Towers.
"WHOA!" Angel gawked in bewilderment.
Her shock was also shared by Sarah, her family, and Cadence as they continued to mind their own business while they were on house arrest for their own safety. Playing together in the Ultra Rescue Tower's Command Center, the pair were given the surprise of their lives as they were greeted by the sight of the meteor Angel and her godfather found and it landed in the middle of the center as they stumbled back and gave surprised and shocked yelps.
"What was that?!"
"I don't believe it! It's a meteor, like the one that's being kept back at Adventure Bay!" Sarah and Cadence spluttered as they looked the meteor over.
Then, a note appeared seconds after as it poofed up in front of their faces but with the words "Powerful meteor found in the forest bordering Adventure City, keep it safe with you at all times - Tsukumaro" written on it.
Sarah had to smile after she finished reading the note, "Tsukumaro..."
"How did you do that?" Angel blinked as Tsukumaro puts away his wand.
"A wizard never reveals his secrets. Now, come! We must return to the others and explain everything, at once!"
Meanwhile, a worried Ryder and the PAW Patrol along with Liberty were searching for their missing leader but their search ended up being fruitless at every turn, seeing no sight of the broken police puppy anywhere.
"Chase! Hello, Chase?"
"Are you there, buddy?"
"Come on, Chase! Where are you?"
"Come on out, Chase!"
"You okay?" Ryder, Marshall, Skye, Rocky, and Rubble called out, deeply concerned.
"We know you're here somewhere, dude!" Zuma added.
"Come on, Chase, I'm so sorry... Where'd you go, bud?" Ryder went on before he turned down one of the alleyways, only to find Chase's Pup Tag without its owner. "Oh, no..."
"Ryder! Where'd he go?" Marshall asked as he picked up the Pup Tag and they all join him.
"I don't know... I was right behind him while we were running but when he turned a corner, he was gone and this was all that I found..."
"His Pup Tag?"
"Oh no, what are we going to do?" Skye and Zuma fretted as Liberty came up to them.
"I don't know. Without him wearing his Pup Tag, we wouldn't have a clue or a lead as to where he might be. And, if Chase was somehow captured..."
"We may not have tracking collars or Morphers just as you and the Power Rangers do but the city has eyes and ears all over. We just have to pound the pavement for him," the street-savvy Dachshund pup suggested.
"Pound the pavement?" Rubble echoed, confused.
"I mean we need to talk to people, question everyone about him and his whereabouts. Leave no stone unturned to see where he might have ended up."
"You're not going anywhere nor are you going to be questioning anyone, you meddling pups," Humdinger sneered as he appeared before the PAW Patrol and Liberty.
"Humdinger! I had a feeling you had something to do with all this! Where's Chase, what did you do to him?" Ryder snapped, wanting to know what happened to his best friend. "Are you also working with Dr. Cawthorn on what he wanted to do to get revenge on Cadence for what happened here five years ago?"
"Oh, don't worry your little heads over him, Ryder, boy. I haven't done anything to them, yet. But, that won't matter now as you'll soon be joining them," Humdinger snarled back as he snapped his fingers and his winged wolves appear from their hiding places above the buildings and surrounded the team. "You, PAW Patrol, have humiliated me for the last time and now, I'm going to make sure you don't foil my plans ever again by taking things to the next, level!"
"You won't get away with this!" Skye barked furiously as they and Liberty were led away roughly.
"Oh, I already have..." Humdinger sneered snootily before he went off.
But, Humdinger had no idea that as all of this was going on, he and his wolves capturing the PAW Patrol and Liberty was seen by a shocked Kendra peeking through one of the corners as she was snooping around. She couldn't believe what she was hearing and seeing before her; she thought Humdinger was being bad enough when he flouted her warnings about the Cloud Catcher and his excessive use of it but now, she was shocked to know that he had a vendetta against the PAW Patrol and was going to more dangerous lengths to ensure that his plans for the city and himself wouldn't get foiled.
"Oh, no..." she whispered in horror before she turned and was greeted by Raven as she appeared in front of her. "Wah!"
"Shh, take it easy, friend. I've come to help you, come with me," she urged quietly, teleporting herself and Kendra away before they would get caught.
Ryder's suspicions were right; Chase did indeed end up in a spot of trouble thanks to Humdinger, Butch, and Reuben, the two henchmen having caught him while he wasn't looking. And now, he was being carted off to who-knows-where as he was stuck in the back of the van.
"Stop this vehicle, now!" he shouted bitterly.
"Oh, are we under arrest, little pup?" Reuben mocked as he and Butch laughed and they came into a dog obedience school, dragging him through several rooms holding many dogs.
"Here's your new home. Enjoy it while you can 'cause it's the last thing you'll see around here!" sneered Butch as Reuben threw him inside one of the rooms at the end of the hallway they were in and they laughed mockingly at him again as they slammed the door and left him trapped.
Picking himself up after he was thrown inside, Chase looked around worriedly as the lights came on, revealing a few dogs inside the doghouses placed in them: a French poodle, an old English sheepdog, and a terrier.
"What is this place?" he asked the dogs, looking around.
"This? Oh, it's Fuzzy Buddies Obedience School you've landed in, friend. Isn't it awesome?" the English sheepdog answered, much to Chase's confusion. "It's very simple; we dogs are gonna learn so many new tricks like sitting, rolling over, and, uh...…..sitting."
"Oh, Barney, how many times do I have to tell you? Ever since Mayor Humdinger trespassed here and began his sweeping 'reforms' on the city, he's completely changed the place and this is not even an obedience school anymore. His stooges took over the place and turned it into a prison for us dogs!" the poodle grumbled to the sheepdog, Barney.
"You see, Old Humdinger's not really much of a dog lover compared to the rest of the city," the terrier explained.
"He's more of a cat person and they give us the heebie-jeebies," the poodle stated, making the other dogs shiver in response.
"Ever since he came here and found out about us, he's been rounding up all the dogs left and right and locking us in here."
"That's terrible!" Chase gasped before he frowned.
"So, kid, what's your story?" the terrier asked comfortingly.
"What's the point, I don't even know anymore. I thought I was a member of the PAW Patrol and a hero of sorts like the Power Rangers but now, I feel like they're better off without me..." Chase answered, not wanting to care anymore as he gave into his misery.
"Really, what makes you say a thing like that?"
"I kept messing things up while I'm here and I let everyone down... Most importantly, I left the puppy I loved down and now, when I found out that my friends were captured... Oh, this is all my fault, I shouldn't have left them like I did. They all got captured because of me and now, the Power Rangers are all that the last member of our team safely out of harm's way have left..."
"Urgh, I can't stand to listen to and deal with all of this negativity, I'm out of here," groaned the poodle with a scoff, walking away and leaving Chase feeling more down than ever.
"Don't mind her, kid. Delores is all bark and no bite. I'm Harris, and I suggest you pick yourself a doghouse. You're gonna be here for a while," the terrier, Harris, comforted again.
Nodding solemnly to Harris' suggestion, Chase looked around for an empty doghouse and picked a yellow doghouse with a red roof on it, walking inside of it and sighing sadly. He couldn't have felt more worse than he already had been but now, after getting the news of his friends being captured after he was dognapped by Reuben and Butch on the drive to Fuzzy Buddies Obedience School, he truly felt like it was all his fault.
In fact, all he had to say out of the other dogs' ears was, "Ryder, everyone, Cadence... I'm sorry..."
Meanwhile, with Ash and the rest of the Ultra Rescue Rangers, their families, Nikki, and James, they were spying on the new Animal Genetics Ultima HQ (after they managed to get a lock on the revived facility's current location) to gather intel for Chief Ryan and see what they can uncover regarding Dr. Cawthorn's operations.
Hearing what sounded like angry and frantic snarling and metal banging, Gladion quickly brought out a set of highly-advanced binoculars (similar to the ones Adam used in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie) and looked around before finding the source of the snarling and banging metal: a pride of 10 white adult female African lionesses in cages as they demanded to be free.
"Oh, man..." Gladion breathed in shock as he zoomed in and saw the angry lionesses (all of them with their looks akin to Adult Nala from The Lion King and The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride) in their terrible conditions. "Looks like Dr. Cawthorn's somehow got a hold of a pack of endangered white African lions."
"Whoa... I've got to record this, Chief Ryan will want to have a word about what that mad man's up to!" Rotom-Dex buzzed in agreement, turning on his camera and recording the whole thing before he noticed one lioness that's the largest of the group that had the same features as Sarah's Animagus form. "Guys, look at that! That lion has the exact same features Sarah has when she's in her lioness form!"
"Yeah, it's an exact match!" agreed Ash, comparing the leader to Sarah in her lioness form as he recalled her transformations.
"I'll betcha Dr. Cawthorn had them poached and smuggled to America without warning and under the government's noses thanks to the mafia," Kiawe put in suspiciously.
"But, where is Dr. Cawthorn?" Lana asked.
"Look there. Rotom, can you get that?" Burnet signaled, pointing everyone and the still-recording Rotom-Dex to the mad scientist himself as he joined his team with a few objects in his hands.
"Look here, team, this is what we've been looking for. As you can tell, once Mayor Humdinger told us about a meteor just like the one the PAW Patrol found and gained their Mighty Pup powers from and heard the reports of the meteor sighting ten years ago, he was generous enough to go and look for it and return with a token for us. These pieces he just mined after he found the meteor will give our creatures just what they need to make them the perfect weapons for the government. And, the test runs we've done in the city have proven to us that they're much more effective with these meteor fragments and they've become a greater success with their new Elemental Manipulation!" Dr. Cameron declared, showing a meteor fragment from Humdinger.
"Of course, it all makes sense!" gasped Rotom-Dex in shock, zooming in on the meteor fragment Dr. Cawthorn has on him.
"No wonder the white lioness that attacked Sarah and Cadence was able to use Elemental Manipulation," added a shocked Mallow as she looked at the images of the meteor fragment.
"Boy, what a set-up for something they like to call Operation: Animal Attack; they capture and bring in a bunch of wild creatures from somewhere in the world like Africa including those white African lions, and then use the power of the meteor that crash-landed near Adventure City ten years ago to change up their genetics and give them their own superpowers," Sophocles deducted.
"Then, once they've been tested, they'll make them into dangerous weapons that will be sold and shipped to the highest bidder who'd want them," gasped Lillie.
"And, to cover up using Adventure City for their field tests, they'd frame Island Girl and Cadence for the attacks and reported sightings so that nobody would be none the wiser as to Cawthorn and his crew's machinations," Race seethed.
"So, they're using Cadence and Sarah as scapegoats for their revived operations."
"That explains it all," Nikki and James added, stunned.
"If they let themselves and their bidders loose with those poor creatures once they've been genetically engineered to their own devices, the city and the world could be in danger and at Cawthorn's mercy!" Wicke breathed in horror.
"Not on our watch. We've got to meet back with Chief Ryan and tell them everything," Burnet suggested.
Everyone else nodded as Rotom-Dex finished recording everything into his database Chief Ryan and everyone in Adventure City needed to hear. But, just before they could make their escape, several cubes appeared above their heads and they projected large electric cages over them, trapping them all inside.
"Race, LOOK OUT!" Athena screamed, seeing a cage above his and Race's heads as she jumped back and pushed him out of the way with her.
Rotom-Dex was also lucky to have avoided the cages as Ash quickly grabbed him and tossed him out of the way as he joined the escaped pair but he was also shocked as the pair were by what they had gone through, "What happened?! Ash, Professors, guys! Are you okay?"
"We're trapped!" Ash screamed, seeing the cages everyone else were trapped in.
"These cages are electric!"
"But, how did this happen? This was a perfect hiding place for us!"
"Nobody was supposed to know that we're here!"
"Scary!" Lana, Abe, Faba, and Mimio, Harper, and Little Sarah cried in bewilderment and fear.
"What is the meaning is this?!" demanded a shocked Kukui.
"Oh, I'm sure you know what we mean by this, Prof. Kukui. We had a feeling you snoopers would figure out what we've been up to ever since you found out about the reports about that meteor and the news of my company being reborn from the ashes of the old one shut down five years ago," Dr. Cawthorn remarked as he and his team surrounded the captured group while Race, Athena, and Rotom-Dex gasped in shock.
"It's you!" spluttered Rotom-Dex.
"And, I have you right where I want you," Dr. Cawthorn smirked (voice reference: Vic Perrin - Dr. Zin (Jonny Quest 1966 & 1986)). "It seems you and your families and friends finally unmasked my little plot, Power Rangers."
"What's behind your genetic rejects using those innocent lions, Cawthorn?" snarled Lusamine.
"It's ingeniously simple since I'm a genius at what I do I'm knowing of a better and brighter future for all animals. If everyone were to see that if wild animals are capable of harnessing and having abilities they wouldn't normally have as their initial species and supernatural powers i.e. the meteor Humdinger kindly dug up and mined for us, no one would suspect the truth that we would have officially created the world's first-ever army of Super Animals."
"But, messing with nature's creations and the things that give us so much joy in life is a sin not worth making!" snapped Kukui.
"Yes, and all part of my plan to enact my vengeance on the one creature that slipped through my company's fingers and put us through the gutter. And, that is why you all will be our prisoners until the princess and Cadence come to us and comply to our demands since we have you all as the very things they hold very dear to them..."
"Wait, you mean you captured the PAW Patrol, too?!" gasped Lillie before everyone saw the PAW Patrol and Liberty in their own cage as they were brought to them via Humdinger and his crew.
"Ryder, guys!"
"Everyone!" Ash and Ryder cried out in alarm, the two groups seeing each other.
"I have big plans for my company once Cadence is brought back to me and your leader is ripe for the picking, Rangers, PAW Patrol. Besides bringing the world's riches to me and my crew as well as the mafia responsible for my company's return, my creations will all bring me unlimited power!"
"You'll never get away with this, Cawthorn!" Gladion hissed, gnashing his teeth at the mad scientist as his team cackled.
"You'll be sorry once they find out about this and get your behinds bit!" Liberty spat.
"You think Sarah and Cadence will do as you say for your own sick desires?" Nikki scoffed as well.
"Well, don't bet on it!" finished James defiantly.
"Please, you meddling kids, can't you all use a better cliche than that?" Cawthorn chuckled menacingly and mockingly before Humdinger did a headcount of the Ultra Rescue Rangers and realized something was off.
"Hey, Doctor, did you notice that we only have seven rangers on us and not eight? And, what about that flying mini-computer that talks and the robotic cat?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"No, we have them all here, you simpleton. Why?"
"'Cause THERE THEY GO!" Humdinger snapped, pointing at Race, Athena, and Rotom-Dex as they quickly ran off while the villains were gloating.
"Run for it, Race!"
"Race, get Sarah and Cadence! Get help!" Ash and Mallow screamed.
"Right!" Race said as they left.
"Guards! Seize those runaways!" Humdinger screamed furiously, the guards quickly rushing after the trio but being too late as Race, Athena, and Rotom-Dex were already too far ahead despite them being fast.
"Athena, you have a Motorcycle Mode built on you?" Race asked his Beast Bot.
"Yeah, I do! Why?" she panted.
"Get ready to blaze out of here and back to Island Girl and Cadence as well as Chief Ryan! Fire Cycle, hang ten!"
Agreeing to her master/friend's call, Athena transformed into a motorcycle similar to Solar's Solar Rider Mode but with Pyroar designs on her with Race quickly activating his powers, getting onto his Fire Cycle as they quickly darted out of sight and away from danger to get help for the others.
"Hey, wait for me, guys!" Rotom-Dex shouted as he flew as fast as he could after the pair while they left the guards in the dust.
"D'oh, they got away!" Humdinger whined.
"Let them go, there's only three of them and they'll only make our work easier," scoffed Cameron before he turned to the imprisoned heroes. "And, I suggest you make yourselves comfortable 'cause you're all going to be in time out until you are wanted... Take them away!"
With that said and Cameron's plans set in motion, the Power Rangers, their families and friends, and the PAW Patrol and Liberty were all carted off. However, little did the mad scientist and Humdinger know that they were being watched by the mysterious robed figures from before. They first watched the heroes being carried away by the villains while turning their attention to Race, Athena, and Rotom-Dex as they darted their way back to Adventure City. Nodding to each other and knowing what they must do, they quickly left the scene to put whatever plan they're having to set things right again into action.
Back in Adventure City, Cadence, Sarah, and her family were still hanging about in the Ultra Rescue Tower but this time, they had a few guests in the form of Kendra and Raven after they arrived. Kendra was amazed and elated to meet the leader of the Ultra Rescue Rangers and the most recent member of the PAW Patrol but their conversation was interrupted as she was getting to the part of the PAW Patrol's being kidnapped when Race, Athena, and Rotom-Dex came in.
"Sarah, Cadence!" Rotom-Dex shrieked as they barged in, looking flustered.
"Rotom, Race, Athena!"
"Are you guys okay?" Sarah and Solar gasped in alarm as they and Cadence joined them with Raven and Kendra coming up from behind.
"We got trouble and it involves the others and the PAW Patrol, Island Girl, and-Wait, who are you?" began Race before he looked at Kendra.
"Oh, I'm sorry, my name's Kendra. I'm one of the leading students and researchers of our city's Department of Meteorology, my team and I are responsible for studying our world's weather patterns," Kendra introduced herself warmly before she immediately jumped ship to what she wanted to speak to Sarah and Cadence about. "I don't know if you know this but your friends, the PAW Patrol, had just been taken hostage by Mayor Humdinger."
"What?!"
"No way/Impossible/This can't be!" Sarah's family gasped in shock, horror, and anger.
"You mean, they were kidnapped?!" Cadence breathed in panic.
"And, that's not all; I've done a recent patrol of the area and the path leading to Dr. Cawthorn's company's new HQ and I lost trace of the other Power Rangers as well as their families and your friends," Raven noted.
"That's where we came in. Island Girl, our friends and their families including your mom and dad, Dr. Cawthorn knew what we were doing and he got them kidnapped as well," Race informed, shocking Kendra, Sarah, her family, and Cadence even more.
"This is a disaster! Who's going to save Adventure City when things get worse?" Kendra fretted.
"Take it easy, Kendra, there's still hope yet. We just need to have a plan worked out if we're to get them out," Race reassured.
"And, we have an even bigger problem; Ryder sent us a quick message after he and the rest of the PAW Patrol and Liberty were captured and it told us Chase had run off and he wasn't with them. He might've been found and carted off to a different location compared to them," Raven informed gravely. "It's best that we find out where he is first and deal with the situation accordingly. Time's not on our side right now and Adventure City won't be safe as long as Humdinger and Dr. Cawthorn are running amok with the others out there."
"Look, Raven, Cadence and I still have bounties on our heads! We can't go out there; what if they suspect that we're the ones responsible for the attacks as well as the big cat and wolf sightings and now the disappearance of the PAW Patrol and my team? What are we supposed to do?" Sarah interjected.
"Actually, Sarah, we talked this over before we met up with you after entering your team's and the PAW Patrol's homes and we got a great idea," Kendra smiled, winking to Raven before she went off and came back with some ragged clothing. "If you want people to think you're from here and nothing like your real selves, you have to dress the part. Raven, you do the honors."
Raven smirked in response as she used her magic to change the ragged clothing into something that'll allow Sarah and Cadence to change their appearances and make them blend in with Adventure City's citizens as well as their overall looks; Cadence was given a matte black cloth to hide her wings and she was transformed into a Siberian Husky (akin to Everest) while Sarah's royal attire was traded in for a pair of simple black jeans and a blue jean jacket. Her crown was also altered to become a brown snow hat to cover a headpiece she was given.
"Final trick," she added, creating some Lost Dog flyers featuring Chase on them.
"That's great! Now, we won't have any trouble getting to ask about Chase and what happened to him while looking for the others and the rest of the PAW Patrol!" Sarah said, amazed by what she saw from Raven and Kendra.
"And, you and Cadence can flout the wanted posters so nobody can tip Humdinger and Cawthorn about you two," Race smirked in agreement before he turned to Kendra and Raven. "Nice work, ladies."
"Just glad to help you out. Now, I better get going before my team notices I've been gone for too long, good luck out there," Kendra smiled before she left to return to her team at the Department of Meteorology.
"Thanks a lot, Kendra!" thanked Cadence. "Now, let's go find Chase and-!"
"Hold on a minute, Cadence. There's still something I have to top things off before we go," Raven interrupted, immediately shapeshifting into Liberty right before everyone's eyes.
"Whoa! What the puppy power?!" spluttered Cadence in shock.
"How did you change into Liberty?" added a stunned Zorua as she and Sho came up to the disguised Raven.
"Angel and I knew her from our outings whenever we're not on the job, first met her at Tony's produce shop while we were making one of our grocery rounds when we were low on fruit and vegetables eight years ago. She taught us what more there is to know about the city and then some; been friends with her ever since she showed us the whole nook and cranny of Adventure City. That sneaky devil of a pup even taught us how to flout dangerous authority to help us get our jobs on the force done and I think it's time we put that to the test again if we're to find Chase."
"What do you have in mind?" Athena quizzed.
"Never underestimate how many connections a dog like Liberty can have, friends who we've grown close to who felt the same way we did about the problems we have to face. There's someone else besides Tony that the three of us are friends with who can help us," Raven said in Liberty's voice, teleporting everyone to another grocery shop.
Entering one of the alleyways and turning right to the grocery shop she knew about (along with Liberty and Angel) and humorously keeping her disguise on, Raven led Sarah, Race, Athena, and Cadence along with some of her Pokemon that decided to tag along (but being kept in their Pokeballs and her satchel to further avoid suspicion from the townsfolk) to begin their search for Chase. While they made their way to the shop, the small party has put up the Lost Dog posters, hoping that someone might give them a clue as to where Chase could have been taken if Humdinger and his goons really did get to him first.
"In here, I know someone who can help us along with Kendra once we give her an update," the disguised wolf noted as they entered the shop and found the friendly Latino owner, Carmen, who adores dogs and treats everyone as part of her family when they shop in her store (Liberty being her personal favorite customer).
"Liberty, mi cliente número uno! How's life treating you these days?" she smiled.
"Carmen, I've got no time for chit-chat; my new friends and I are in a tight jam, a big one, and we really need your help," Raven stated, turning her radio off.
"Oh? Well, what can I help you all with?"
"M'am, have you seen a young German Shepard puppy named Chase anywhere? We went looking for him but he appears to have vanished without a trace," Sarah asked, showing Carmen the Lost Dog flyers.
"Hmm, no, I haven't seen him. If you want, I'll gladly have you put it up on the wall," she replied, gesturing to the wall behind them that was chocked full of Lost Dog posters featuring all of the dogs that went "missing" including Delores, Barney, and Harris.
"Holy guacamole..." Race blinked in surprise. "Are these all of the files of the dogs that had gone missing before Chase, Miss?"
"Si, lots of dogs are disappearing lately and I've kept my eyes open for them but it's as if they've all vanished like magic."
Race nodded along with Sarah as they tried to think of how they might've "vanished" as Carmen was telling them and the rest of their party, "This can't be a coincidence... How long has this started ever since or before we came here, do you know?"
"It all started a couple of days ago, a little while after the race for the new mayor of Adventure City got underway before Humdinger won by default. My customers all had dogs whenever they come to shop but now, half of them are missing a dog. Oh, piedad de mí, whatever could've happened to them?"
"...Right. M'am, I don't think this is some sort of accident or something. There's got to be something deeper into all of this everyone else is not seeing, I think somebody must've taken them without warning," Sarah theorized to Carmen.
"Dognapping? Who would do such a thing to those poor dears?"
"We all know there's one person here who hates dogs more than anything and that's Humdinger. While we were on our way to Adventure City, Ryder told us that he's had a grudge against dogs and prefers cats to them like with his Kitten Catastrophe Crew. But, the only piece we're missing here is where... Where could he and his men have taken Chase and the other dogs?"
"Wait, hold up! There have been many rumors going on that after he took over, he had his stooges, Butch and Reuben, turn the Fuzzy Buddies Obedience School on the northern side of town into a jail penitentiary for dogs!" Raven recalled, amazingly maintaining her Liberty guise. "And, I know just how to infiltrate its ranks and find out where the dogs are being held at."
"How?" Athena inquired.
"Simple, I'll be the bait for this trap. Then, I'll allow myself to be dognapped; you all tail me and when we find the dog penitentiary and I get to Chase, we'll issue Operation: Jailbreak," smiled Raven knowingly.
Race and Sarah smiled, knowing what Raven was suggesting is exactly what Liberty herself would've done.
"Alright, Liberty, go for it," the princess agreed.
Then, as if another miracle had been put in place for the heroes remaining while the group went outside to put Raven's plan into action, Angel and Tsukumaro came by and Race and Sarah immediately saw them before they went back to the alleyway they all came from and dragged them both in.
"Princess, Sir Race! Oh, don't ever do that again! I almost couldn't recognize you through your costume!" Tsukumaro breathed once he saw that it was Race and Sarah that dragged her and Angel into the alleyway.
"Yeah, nice to meet you too, man. Look, the point is, we have a lead as to what happened to Chase after we discovered that the others and the PAW Patrol got themselves kidnapped by Dr. Cawthorn and Humdinger so we-!"
"What?! Princess, your family and friends, and the PAW Patrol... They were all kidnapped?" spluttered Tsukumaro in shock.
Race nodded in confirmation, "Yeah, turns out the Mad Doc knew that we would all eventually unearth his schemes and set up a trap for us but Athena, Rotom, and I managed to escape but we don't know how long it would be before they would demand a ransom from us for their lives. They could do something worse to them even after they captured and imprisoned everyone so we'll need to get Chase back and have everyone together again so we can put an end to the madness those two are about to cook up."
"But, we're going to need more dirt on those jokers if we're going to bust them good and throw them behind bars," Angel reminded.
"That's why we have one of the most brilliant minds among us and he also managed to escape with Race and Athena as he said," Sarah reassured before he called Rotom-Dex through her Wrist Com and to the Ultra Rescue supercomputer. "Hey, Rotom, can you look up any more information regarding Dr. Cawthorn and his company along with Humdinger's track record?"
"I'm on it, Sarah! I'm looking up any incriminating evidence that can help us make a solid case against them with the others right now," Rotom-Dex informed them.
"Great, I'm counting on you," Sarah nodded, ending the call.
"And, with that out of the way, it's time for Operation: Jailbreak, and it all starts with me," Raven added, still in her Liberty guise.
"Heh, I see Liberty's street-savvy attitude has fully rubbed off on you, girlfriend," Angel laughed, seeing where Raven was going with her disguise as their best friend of a pup. "Mind left us and our big boy over here in on the fun?"
Raven's plan was soon put into action; after interrupting an interview with the now-disgraced and embarrassed Mayor Humdinger over his early acts as Adventure City's new mayor (which got amused laughter out of everybody gathered), the flustered and angered Froggy Bottom mayor ordered Reuben and Butch to catch her and take her to Fuzzy Buddies Obedience School. Then, once they were on their way, Raven immediately told the tailgating Sarah, Race, Angel, Tsukumaro, and the princess' family with her the license plate of their van loudly as they drove her to the school-turned-penitentiary.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! This is just rich, is this getting too easy or are we just getting better and better?"
"We're getting better at this job, Reuben! A lot better!" they sneered with a cackle as they threw Raven inside and left while slamming the door, leaving her smirking as she managed to infiltrate the dog jail without tipping them off.
"Chase, Chase? Hello, Commander Liberty to Major Chase!" she called before she turned to the other dogs. "Yo. Anybody 'round here seen a German Sheppard pup about yay high, always saying, 'Chase is on the case'?"
"Liberty?" blinked the puppy in question, surprised to see who he thought was Liberty and not Raven in disguise.
"Hey there, buddy! Listen, I've come to bust you out of here. I got a ride for all of us ready in five."
"Pfft! Oh, puh-lease! You, a scrawny little purse pup is going to pull off a jailbreak?" Delores scoffed.
"Oh, yeah? You talk trash for a dog looking like a toilet brush," Raven retorted.
Shocked and indignant over Raven's street-savvy retort, Delores harumphed as she turned away again (some of the dogs sniggering at her which added to her embarrassment). But, Chase slumped down as he realized that Raven, still masquerading in her Liberty guise, had possibly fouled things up for the both of them as he went back to his doghouse and slumped down miserably.
"Come on, Chase! What's wrong with you, get up. We're making a break for it soon," Raven pleaded.
"Liberty, just leave me alone. You shouldn't have come after me when it's my fault we're all stuck in a right jam, now we're both stuck here while the others are all kidnapped trying to look for me..."
"Of course, I came after you! I might be just one small pup in a big, big world, all alone in this giant city... Heh, always trying to make sense of it all when needed but regardless, I can still make even the tiniest of differences in what is this beautifully cruel world we all live in. I can still be a hero and see the world for what it could be, just like you and as you've always done."
"I'm no hero, I'm a coward... And now, I'm a traitor after what I've done to them after I was dognapped."
"Yeah, right. And, I'm more of a purebred show dog with papers for ears... Oh, you're serious, dead serious...right?"
"I used to think I was a hero like everyone else wanted me to and I thought I really was... But, as it turned out, I'm just scared. I couldn't do anything right being the big baby that I am..."
Raven smirked and, as she was still convinced that Chase is still the hero he doesn't see himself as, just pushed his doghouse over in response as she continued her "Liberty" pep talk to him.
"So? Who cares if you're scared? Isn't that a natural thing for everybody? Even heroes get scared when things start to go wrong, nobody's brave all the time."
Chase was surprised when he heard this from Raven as he still believed she was Liberty, "They're not?"
"Of course, they're not! Heroes can get scared, too, but someone once said that 'there is no courage without fear'. You wanna know why heroes ended up being so brave and courageous, it's because those same heroes faced their fears, embraced them, and took that first step forward towards a path they know is worth taking despite that fear. It's what you and your friends have always done and what our new friends have been doing long before we met them."
Chase was in awe as Raven continued her explanation to him, "Take the Power Rangers, for example; they faced threats that are unlike anything you pups in the PAW Patrol took on including those from different dimensions and planets and those that are beyond our wildest nightmares. The original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers took many beatings from Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd before and after they were married but even though they were scared, they didn't give up; they pressed on and continued fighting for the greater good. That's exactly what happened with the other Power Rangers after them against the likes of Master Org, the original Lothor, Mesagog, Sledge, Astronema before she changed back to Karone, Dark Spector, they fought them all and kept going despite fearing that they could be destroyed and die at any point. That's what makes them real heroes."
As he listened in on everything Raven was telling him, Chase suddenly realized that she was right; heroes don't have to be brave and fearless all the time, it's alright for someone like him to become scared at times. The little German Shepard finally knew that he had been going about the prospect of what it really meant for him to be a real hero and a true leader all wrong. He once thought that he needed to put up a brave face for everyone but now, with what the disguised wolf was telling him, Chase was starting to reevaluate his approach.
Raven grinned as she then said, "While you chew and swallow that knowledge bombshell I dropped, I'm gonna bail us out of here."
Chase blinked again in surprise as he approached her doubtfully, "But, Liberty, we're stuck in here! That door over there is locked and it's the only way out of this room."
"Well, there's one thing I forgot to mention when I was kicked in here," Raven smirked as everyone heard something banging against the wall in front of them opposite the door and a loud crash came as part of the wall broke to reveal a familiar face. "I came with them!"
"Cadence!" Chase cried happily.
"On the double, as Rubble always said, Chase!" Cadence smiled brightly as she used her Super Strength to completely break the wall open and Sarah, Race, Angel, Tsukumaro, and the royal duo's Pokemon with them along with Phoe-Phoe came into the scene.
"Chase, are you okay?" Cadence asked, giving her pup of a boyfriend a relieved nuzzle.
"I am now, thanks to you. Wait, are you a Siberian Husky like Everest?" Chase blinked in surprise.
"Don't worry, Raven just changed my appearance so we could find you and nobody would be tipped off with the wanted bounties still on my and Sarah's heads. It'll wear off when we get back," she reassured just as the door opened and Butch and Reuben came barging in.
"'Oi! What's going on in here?!" they snapped before they froze at the sight of the dogs and the rescue squad before them.
"Butch and Reuben, in the name of the Adventure City Police Force, you two are under arrest for fraud, conspiracy, and dognapping as well as animal cruelty amongst many other charges!" declared Angel, showing her police badge and pulling out what looked like an extendable police baton.
The dogs also looked at the two henchmen before another dog named Rocket gave the call to everyone as he said, "Get 'em!"
That was the signal for all of the dogs sans Chase, Cadence, and Raven (still posing as Liberty) to attack Reuben and Butch, finally getting their chance for some long-awaited payback and making them run for their lives while unlocking the other doors and freeing the other dogs.
"Well, I think that's the end of those creeps. They'll be screaming all the way to Chief Ryans and singing to him like canaries when this is all over," Raven smirked as she jumped up, flipped, and ditched her Liberty guise, startling Chase as he looked at her and she winked.
"Raven! You were Liberty the whole time?!" he gawked in shock and bewilderment. "What's going on?"
"Just a little perk of me being a wolf with magic I was injected with ten years ago. We'll explain later, for now, let's get back to the towers," Raven noted as she teleported everyone back to the towers.
Making their way back to the Command Center, Rotom-Dex and some of Sarah's Pokemon with him are continuing to dig up any evidence on Dr. Cawthorn and Humdinger's track record as mayor until they came across a video message being sent to them.
"Sarah, perfect timing! And, you got Chase back! Great, we just got a video message or a call of some sort and it might be important!" Rotom-Dex informed. "I'm sure it might be Humdinger and Dr. Cawthorn since they still have the others and the rest of the PAW Patrol on hand."
"A call, from Humdinger and Dr. Cawthorn?" gasped Chase as he and Cadence (after her disguise finally wore off) came up alongside Sarah and Race.
"It must be them. No doubt they have a bargaining chip on them, patch it through," Sarah ordered, Rotom-Dex nodding as he activated the video message and Humdinger appeared on the screen.
"Well, well, Princess. Nice of you to finally get in touch, I was beginning to worry that you wouldn't call back after what happened with you and everyone else during your time in Adventure City," the disgraced mayor sneered with a chuckle.
"Cut the flirty chit-chat, Humdinger. We know what you're up to along with Dr. Cawthorn, up to no good," the princess snapped, not having time for the incompetent mayor's games. "What do you want this time? Haven't you two and your kittens as well as your goonies caused enough trouble for everyone already?"
"What do I want, what do I want? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, my dearie, you got it all wrong. You see, it's not what I want, I should be asking: what do you want? You see, I heard that you've been looking for your friends as well as the rest of the PAW Patrol when your cute little boyfriend clued you in on our endgame. But, don't worry, they're all right here... All dressed up but with nowhere left to run or hide nor any hope for them to escape, as you can see here."
Humdinger then showed the group Sarah's friends, Ryder, and the rest of the PAW Patrol including the real Liberty still trapped in their electrical cage prisons.
"NO!" Chase cried in horror and alarm, seeing the results of his running away in full force.
"Ryder! Marshall, Skye, Rubble, Rocky, Zuma, Liberty!" Cadence added, horrified by the sight of her and Chase's captured family.
Everyone else gasped as they shared Chase and Cadence's shock and horror and even Sarah was stunned until she suddenly started to feel her rage overcoming her as Tsukumaro and Race quickly held her back, doing their best to ensure that she doesn't do anything stupid that will provoke whatever fate would be in store for the captives should their lives be put in more danger.
"No! Mom, Dad, guys! Ryder! NO!" she screamed, tears of fury and anger rolling down her cheeks as she struggled in Tsukumaro and Race's grips. "LET, THEM, GO!"
"Please, Princess! Please! Control yourself!" Tsukumaro begged.
"Stop it, Island Girl! That's just what he wants, calm down! CALM DOWN!" Race screamed, managing to snap her out of her hate-filled trance before he decided to speak on her behalf when Cameron finally appeared in the video call/message. "What are you going to do with them, you monsters?"
"That all depends on you, Pyroar Ranger. They're safe, for now, until we make a deal with you to ensure that your friends and their families can go free," Dr. Cawthorn bargained casually. "Their lives for Cadence and the princess, deal?"
"How do we know you're not bluffing your hearts out, you swine?" scoffed Angel. "If you hadn't called us and we came to you first after breaking Chase and the other dogs out of jail, we would've settled the score."
"As if we'd ever make a deal with creeps such as you!" Sho added, blowing a raspberry at the villains along with Yamper, Zorua, the baby Jungle Pokemon, their older siblings, Avel, Donka, and the baby Nifflers.
"And, we're not giving you a choice, fools. The deal's still on so make your choice, your girlfriend and Cadence as well as your dragons or their loved ones will be on the chopping block as Cameron's newest laboratory specimens!" Humdinger finished as he cackled before the message was cut off.
"I guess they really weren't bluffing if they're really that certain," Solar remarked worriedly.
"I wouldn't trust them by a long shot," Sunce put in, not liking where things are going. "Many bad guys always have something in mind that'll always turn the odds in their favor, how would things be any different with Humbug and Dr. Cawthorn?"
"I don't like this, guys. There's just too much riding on this so-called deal and whether or not those buffoons would keep their word regarding everyone else's freedom," Rocky (Shovelhelm dragon) pondered grimly.
"But, how can we possibly save them via a loophole in the deal should those idiots change it or pull the rug from under us?" Puff asked, feeling frantic.
"She's right! Those two still have those bounties on Cadence and Sarah's heads and even before Operation: Jailbreak was pulled off to save Chase, they took the PAW Patrol and the others by surprise without even breaking a sweat!" Big Buff agreed.
"Look, we can't just do nothing! We have to fight!" Thunder argued.
"We'll fight, yes!"
"And, be destroyed? No, thank you!" Silvally and Tou-Tou added.
"We still have two PAW Patrol members and we're all still here so we're not exactly helpless," added Anga convincingly.
"But, you won't be able to get the drop on them even if we still have Cadence and Chase with us," argued Raven.
"Why not?" the female Swooping Evil questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Those stooges might've already looked up Sarah's profile after hacking into the Aether Foundation's database on the Power Rangers Ultra Rescue. They'll more than likely be able to exploit her powers and use them for their own gain which was why they added your dragons to the deal. They also found out about her scepter and its powers, mainly Dragon Manipulation, but the only thing they didn't catch was that it would only respond to its wielder even though it's another blow to them and their egos. That's, however, when they'll pull off the leverage card on you, that's when they'll arm-twist you guys mentally in order to make you oblige to the deal on their terms once they get past that!
"Okay, okay, okay, but what about this thing from that Lion Guard TV show called the Roar of the Elders the kids told us about? There's no way they could've known about or replicated that," Fuhara questioned, appearing from Race's suitcase along with Shauku.
"That does seem plausible, Fuhara. And, that lioness clone Dr. Cawthorn created didn't even use it since it can't be duplicated and I'm the only one who knows how to use it," Sarah nodded in response to the male ShiShi. "But, we may have another way to beat them. I've been doing some experimenting with my amulet and as it turned out, I found out it gave me two more gifts we can make use of."
"And, what might that be?" Thunder inquired.
"What did it give you?" added Cadence curiously, Sarah focusing on her amulet as it glowed and she changed into a black and silver wolf via a white light.
"Shapeshifting, just like me... That'll work," Raven nodded, impressed.
"But, what about the second power?" Chase quizzed, allowing Sarah to change back to her old self and create a mythical Fire Horse from Greek mythology after waving her hands.
"So, you also know Animal Creation," Raven remarked, further impressed as she took in the Fire Horse's bright red coat and dark-red and orange-shaded mane and tail and its black hooves.
"Animal Creation?" Cadence and Chase echoed in surprise, looking at each other as Tsukumaro turned to them and explained.
"She'd right; it means that the princess is now capable of creating any kind of animal from any time period; from the living and the hybrids to the extinct and the fictional, they can all be summoned at her will with varying levels of independence (controlled, automatons/programmed, semi-independent) and existence (momentary to permanent). All of that, by her own choice," he informed.
"Hold your horses there, pallies. Let's not rule out those winged wolves and the big cats; you can't just flat out kill them and sink to the levels of the poachers that are making off with them for money, it's not their fault they're being roped into Cawthorn's gigs," Angel warned, seeing a wrench in the heroes' plans.
"Angel's right; the wild animals are not at fault here. My magic also allows me to perform Purification in order to cleanse whatever is ailing them and have them cross over to the light and turn them away from the darkness. And, I may even be able to teach you two a new form of magic to help with that," Raven agreed, looking between Race and Sarah as the two of them recalled their earned magic from the Twilight Gem.
"Good."
"Anything's worth a try," the young couple nodded.
"But, do we still have the element of surprise on us? What else do we have that can throw those creeps off their game and get everyone back?" Athena requested.
"Speaking of games... Sarah, do you and Race still have our new friends including the new mythical and the Cyberspace Pokemon? What about the ones in the chest you guys took with you after we beat the game?" Solar asked, recalling the chest they had to use to beat Cyber Guzzlord in Ming Wu's game and Varokuna.
"Yeah, and we still have our mythicals and our dinosaurs. I guess they didn't update their research to take into account our escapades in Cyberspace," his partner nodded.
"Now, I remember! Humdinger and Cawthorn didn't know about your adventures in Ming Wu's game and they haven't seen your new mythical companions as well as the Cyberspace Pokemon we've acquired! Plus, they have no idea about the dinosaurs we took in so we also got that going for us! And, the best part, none of them even knew how powerful they really are!" Rotom-Dex realized.
"Dinosaurs, you guys have real dinosaurs like us in Dino Valley?" Chase gasped in surprise.
"No way," added Cadence, sharing his surprise.
"Way," nodded Rotom-Dex in confirmation.
"Sold!" Solar said brightly.
"Capital idea, Princess! Varokuna and the other Pokemon in it can give us a hand along with your prehistoric friends," agreed Tsukumaro, taking out the chest from one of his pockets (having cast the Shrinking Charm on it again and carrying with him the whole time).
"Wait, what was in that chest you fellas snagged?" Angel questioned.
Sarah looked to her and Raven as she said, "I'll explain on the way."
"But, why not call Hiccup, Zenna, and their buddies to give us a hand?" Zorua pouted.
"They and their dragons have their own things to worry about right now. Even if we could, trying to explain that they could be tried and thrown behind bars for murder in our world and our current time period would be tedious, at best. Can you imagine how out of place they would be since their own Viking way of life is all they know how to live? And, we already had enough people put off about us with those bounties on my and Cadence's heads, we don't need any more trouble than we already had."
"Dang, girlfriend, what exactly did you all do before dropping by here?" Angel blinked, confused over what she was hearing.
Sarah just smiled, "More than you know... But, we're burning daylight right now. Let's plan now, talk later."
"Right," the heroes currently gathered agreed, knowing what they must do to save the world and Adventure City from Humdinger's nonsense and Dr. Cawthorn's devious machinations.
