Tron Legacy : Rectifier - Real World Invasion

Chapter One

Clu is successful in leaving the Grid with his greatest achievement, the Rectifier. Will his goal for perfection be fulfilled? And at what cost to the real world?

AU, of course. Initial Clu Speech taken from the film, as well as some other lines just in this prologue.

Greetings, programs! Together we have achieved a great many things. We have created a vast, complex system. We've maintained it; we've improved it. We've rid it of its imperfection. Not to mention, rid it of the false deity who sought to enslave us! Kevin Flynn! Where are you now?! My fellow programs, let there be no doubt that our world is a cage no more. For at this moment, the key to the next frontier is finally in our possession! And unlike our selfish creator, who reserved the privilege of our world only for himself, I will make their world open and available to all of us. YES, TO ALL OF US! And whatever we find there, there, our system will grow. There, our system will blossom! Do this, prove yourselves, prove yourselves to me, be loyal to me, and I will never betray you! - Maximize efficiency, rid the new system of its imperfection! My vision is clear, fellow programs. Out there is a new world! Out there is our victory! Out there... is our destiny.

Without Clu's knowledge, Kevin Flynn and his son Sam were even now aboard the Rectifier searching for Quorra, hopefully rescuing her before Clu had the chance to harm the ISO. Hearing the Administrative Control Program's speech to his army echoing throughout the giant warship, Sam looked upward at the command ship sitting atop the docking tower. To his father, Sam said needlessly, "Your disk." He realized that the one thing Clu needed most was already connected within the command ship, linking itself to the Rectifier, along with all of the stored vehicles and repurposed programs aboard it.

Once his speech was completed, Clu headed back to the bridge. He had just explained his plans to his loyal programs, and was feeling very pleased with himself. It could not be better that his plans for perfecting the outside world, Flynn's world, were moving along unimpeded. On top of that, he finally had the last ISO under his control. How long had Flynn kept her from his grasp? But what purpose would she serve? Perhaps her code could be merged with his own, and provide him with the same freedom of self-determination and independence the ISOs had possessed. Finally, he would be free of Flynn's programming. But he would deal with her later. Right now, he had a vessel to ready. Clu was just about to leave this world that had been his prison for so many cycles.

It was finally time. Clu ordered the mooring clamps released. The mighty vessel slowly moved away from the city. Eventually it would reach the Outlands, and beyond that, the Sea of Simulation. Flynn had created the Sea as a barrier to keep programs from leaving the Grid. "You won't keep me here any longer, Flynn. You've just given me the way out. I've perfected my world, now your world is next." In his hand, Clu carried a memory disc that held the secret weapon his own experts had been working on for several cycles. First the docking port for Flynn's disk, now this device that would make the User world his to control. It would ensure his victory over the outside world. All he had to do was find a User who would be able to install it for him.

Father and son felt the ship's slight lurch as it was released from its mooring clamps, and started moving forward. "He's taking all of this with him."

"He's figured out how to do it," Flynn said. "We've got to get to the portal."

"Dad, I'll go find Quorra. Meet me on the flight deck in five, and get us some wheels."

Flynn nodded. "Wheels. What's your plan?"

Sam fell back on the thing his father had mastered, enabling him to survive all these years. "I'm a User. I'll improvise."

ooooooooooooooo

Sam took a route that led him up to the command ship's bridge. He had decided the direct approach was best. Find Quorra, get his dad's disk, and head for the flight bay. There he encountered several guards who tried to stop him, but he easily dispatched them. Entering the bridge, he found a terrified Jarvis. "Long live the Users," Clu's aide uttered, hoping the boy Flynn would leave him alive. Grabbing the groveling program by the throat, Sam demanded to know where the female program was being kept. Just then, Rinzler entered the room, with a bound Quorra beside him.

"Sam, go!" she cried out in warning. She didn't want him fighting Rinzler, knowing how expert the program was with his disks. The ISO was unceremoniously thrown to the deck by her captor. Then he faced the User, his disks in his hands.

But Sam wasn't ready to leave yet. He had grown quit adept at the disk, and managed to take out two sentries before entering the ship's bridge, another once he was inside. He threw his own disk at Clu's special warrior once Quorra was safely out of the way. He missed, but as soon as it returned to him, Sam tried again. The second throw was as easily avoided, only because Quorra had kicked out at Rinzler as she lay on the floor. Rinzler slid across the deck, he and his disks falling off the ledge. Using his own disk to cut her bindings, Sam freed the ISO before heading for the docking mechanism. He was about to retrieve his father's disk, but just then, Clu entered the room. Fury showed in his expression as he strode toward the pair.

Grabbing Quorra's arm, Sam dragged her behind him as he took a set of light chutes off the wall, and headed for the ship's observation window. Crashing through the window, he and the ISO fell to the flight bay where a waiting Flynn sat in a light jet.

"Dad, I wasn't able to retrieve your disk. What do we do now?"

"I don't know, Sammy. Let's get to the portal and see if we can stop Clu there somehow." For all Flynn knew, they'd be waving good bye as Clu's ship left through the only way off the Grid. Things were definitely not going well.

Letting Quorra fly the light jet he had secured, the trio headed for the portal, unsure what to do next.

ooooooooooooooo

Clu smirked when he saw Flynn's disk still in the docking port. They had failed to retrieve it, so his plan had not been thwarted. He turned to Rinzler, deciding he needed the repurposed program. Turning to Jarvis, he took his anger out on the obsequious Intelligence program. "You let her get away," he said, the tone of his voice a threat. Clu removed his disk from his back, and raised his arm. "Death to the Use..." was all Jarvis managed to say, before he was turned into a shower of data cubes. No program failed Clu in their directives more than once.

ooooooooooooooo

Their light jet was fast, but eventually the Rectifier passed them on the way to the portal. Flynn and his two companions watched helpless, as it flew over them. Sam looked despondent, his heart breaking for his father. "Dad..."

"I know, son. We were just too late." Flynn had no idea if Clu would be successful, and if he were, what might happen to Earth after his arrival.

Flynn, Sam and Quorra watched as the massive ship slowed as it neared the portal. This was probably Clu's only chance to leave the Grid, and he wasn't wasting that chance. There were so many questions. Would Clu make it? If so, would they be in physical form like humans, with all their weaknesses, or something far more advanced. And more importantly, what did Clu plan to do once there. Would the military confront the invaders? "Damn," Flynn thought. This was all his fault. Clu was his fault.

ooooooooooooooo

The great vessel moved into position, hovering over the the area where the portal could be seen. Its light was brighter than anything on the Grid. Clu knew Flynn was not far behind, and he relished that the almighty Creator would witness his creation leave the Grid to enter HIS world. Clu stood at the forefront of the command ship, and ordered the Rectifier to move into the beam of light. He looked upward as they moved over the portal center, the light blinding now. Clu smiled with satisfaction, before he was shut down.

As the carrier was being digitized, all of the programs aboard, including Clu, immediately went into sleep mode. Everyone and everything was being uploaded into the portal's matrix. Just as Flynn was able to come and go via digitization, so would the Rectifier. Just as an orange or human could be digitized and made to re-appear elsewhere as it was originally, it stood to reason size was irrelevant. If the Rectifier made the journey successfully, it would be as formidable in the outside world as it was on the Grid. It was a gamble Clu was determined to make. If he failed, however, he would never even be aware of it.

ooooooooooooooo

Flynn frowned as the trio watched the immense ship begin to disappear bit by bit. He's actually doing it, Flynn marveled. And there was nothing any of them could do about it. Worse, they were stuck here now unless he could upgrade Sam's disk. "I'm sorry, Sam, Quorra. This never should have happened. I guess the good thing is Clu is gone. Any remaining programs won't have to worry about him anymore. But we have no way to leave, yet." He would work on Sam's disk as soon as they returned to his sanctuary.

Sam looked at his dad. His eyes held no reproach but then what could any of them have done? Clu beat them. And at least they were together now. If they were to be stuck here permanently, maybe they could really make something of the Grid. And there was always the chance that Alan could put two and two together. Sam wished he'd left him a note, rather than blowing him off.

ooooooooooooooo

Clu's ship entered the User world, having been digitized from it's original creation. The re-digitization process began on the outside once the entire ship had been reduced to its most basic code. Bit by bit, the mighty vessel was re-digitized in size relative to its size when it was on the Grid. As the Rectifier appeared in the real world, it was hovering 5 feet above the ground, destroying Flynn's Arcade and the surrounding neighborhood.

There was nothing left of the arcade but rubble, fire and smoke. The way off the Grid for Kevin Flynn no longer existed.
