I'm so sorry about the lateness of this chapter work had picked up for me so I was very busy, also I had writers block in the worst way. Anyway I would like to thank you my readers for giving this story a try. I really didn't think that this story would go far when I thought about it, so I really didn't really think how I wanted this story to go. But now I have a general idea to work with now.

Now this has been bugging me for a while.

Has anybody notice the name of the Tech Expert back on the first chapter? For of those who did congratulations.

For those who didn't go look up Green Lantern.

Keep an eye out I tend to make little jokes and references like that in my stories.

If you have any idea's that you would like for me to consider please PM me or leave it in a review. It could be anything from mischievous like Shepard playing a prank on the crew or something serious like a Pilgrimage gift idea from Jay (I have a few ideas but nothing solid as of yet). I have already decided to put one of the ME books (Ascension I think it's called. I don't have the book on me at the moment) into this story.

So let's get to the story shall we.

Ch4

Darkness.

That is all that I saw. I tried to remember what had happen before the abyss took me. I was doing something important.

What was it?

I heard a scream in the darkness.

That's right, Tali was hurt. I can't be here Tali needs me.

I have to protect her.

I have to protect…

My…Fren'shal

I opened my eyes and immediately closed them as needles stabbed my eyes. Once my mask darkened enough for me to see I open my eyes again. Tilting my head around I saw that I was in the infirmary on the Normandy.

How did I get here?

I sat up with a groan alerting the other occupant in the room.

"Good you're awake," Dr. Chakwas said coming up to me and helping me up.

"What happened?" I asked shaking the grogginess that I had acquired.

"That's what I would like to know," A voice beside me said. I looked over to Shepard standing by the door way arms crossed, "What exactly happened down there?" Her tone of voice suggested that she was confused, curiosity, and concern.

"I don't know," I said holding my helmeted head in my hands, "I remember the Armature landing and Tali getting shot…." My head shot up at the same time as my body as I search the room quickly, "Where is Tali? Is she alright? Was she hurt? What happened?" I said quickly before a huge wave a pain came over my head.

"Clam down Jay," Dr. Chakwas said lowering me down into the bed, "She's fine."

"Yea, she got up a minute after she was knocked back," Shepard explained, "Apparently she was only disoriented and couldn't move for a bit."

"Thank the Ancestors," I said relaxing before trying to recall what happened, "Well…all that I remember was Tali getting blown away and that's it."

I looked at the Commander and asked, "What happened?" She let out a sigh before taking a seat on the bed across from me.

"Well this is what happened…"

Commander Jenifer Shepard let out a curse as bullets flew at her. "We need to take care of that Armature now!" Ash said popping out of cover and firing a few assault rifle rounds taking out the last of the Geth solider units.

"Tell me something I don't know," Shepard retorted flinging a biotic push at Armature platform disrupting its movements for half a second, "I'm open to suggestions."

"Why not call the Normandy for an air strike?" Garrus said tossing an overload depleting the Armature's shields a bit before ducking down to dodge its return fire. Shepard shook her head, "The Normandy doesn't have the ordinance for it."

"Look out," Kaiden called out, "It is firing its main gun." Everybody ducked as the Geth shot a blue pulse striking a nearby box which exploded.

The next few moments would forever be carved into Shepard's mind.

"Tali's down!" Garrus yelled just before everything was drowned out a bone chilling, blood freezing scream. "What the hell is that," Ash asked looking behind her. Her answer came in a form of a biotic glowing...

"Jay?!" Shepard said with slight confusion.

Jay let loose another scream as he used a biotic charge slamming into the Armature's front leg. The Geth began sputtering as it tried to crush the hybrid with its massive feet. The other members of the ground watched in shock as Jay began climbing the walker's leg clawing at it as he ascended. The Armature tried it's best to shake the Human Quarian off, but he held on making his way up to the head. When Jay was on top of the tank-class Geth he screamed again and began firing Tali's shotgun into its head.

White and blue fluids began spraying from the wound covering Jay from head to toe. As the gun clicked dry Jay began to glow again before tossing Tali's gun to the side, and started punching the hole with biotic enhanced fist. "Who made that monster," Ash said in fear watching as Jay literally tears the Geth's head apart with his bare hands.

Suddenly Ash was kicked in the stomach by enraged and perfectly healthy Tali, "HE'S NOT A MONSTER." The Quarian turn as the Armature fell to the ground and Jay let out a victorious howl. He slumped his posture and fell to the ground in a heap. "JAY!" Tali ran towards the hybrid and began running a diagnostics on his suit and pumping his body with a Q-cocktail (*).

"…after that we called an evac to get you medical treatment and continued on with the mission. Luckily we did call the Normandy in because after we secured T'Soni, the dig site became unstable and began collapsing."

"I see," I said softly as my mind ran at the speed of light trying to process what I was just told.

"Well since you checked out, why don't you go and see Tali," Jennifer said patting my shoulder, "She been worried sick about you."

"Yes," Dr. Chakwas said going to her desk and began typing something, "I had to chase her out she hasn't left you side in the 17 hours since she got back."

"Yea, I'll go and do that," I said not even registering what Dr. Chakwas said about the length of my stay as I got up and left the infirmary.

General P.O.V

Commander Shepard watch as the hybrid left the room as soon as the door shut she turned to the doctor, "You said you have something to show me Karin?"

"I think you should see this," Dr. Chakwas said pressing a few button on her Omni-tool bring up a 3-D projection of a human body along with a few stats on the side. Typing away she brought the same image on the wall screen. "This is a normal human being with biotics, you to be precise." Dr. Chakwas pointed at the screen which showed a human skeleton with a few blue nodes each connected with a blue line that converge at the spine and went to the skull where an amp would be. She then activated her omni-tool which brought up another human skeleton. Like the other human this one had blue nodes as well, but the big difference was how they were connected. Instead of thin lines like Shepard's these were thick pulsing with power, "This is Jay," Dr. Chakwas said.

"Impossible! No human pull off numbers like these," Shepard said in shock looking at the numbers beside Jay's skeleton. The numbers show that his biotic level was that of a Krogan Battlemaster if not an Asari.

"Your right no human can," Dr. Chakwas said pulling up more stats, "He has had extensive genetic manipulation. And when I say extensive I mean it shouldn't be possible."

Shepard turned towards the doctor, "What do you mean?"

"I don't know how, but he somehow his DNA was combined with Quarian DNA," Chakwas said with a sigh, "By logic he should be dead or worse."

"He did say something about that back on the Citadel when we first met him," the Commander said remembering first meeting the boy, "but both he and Tali refused to go into detail."

"That's not all I found take a look at this," the doctor said zooming in all Jay's head which showed two large blimps. One at the back of his brain and another on the side, "What I'm I seeing?" Shepard asked not knowing what she was seeing.

"Chips," Chakwas stated bring up a rendering replica of the chips that was plug into Jay's head.

"Those two blimps are chips?!" Shepard nearly yelled in shock. She never head of chips being that large, even her biotic amp wasn't that big.

"Yes," Karin Chakwas said, "I was able to identify them. The one placed at the back is a biotic amp, it's a highly advance one. You could say that this was the prototype of your L3 if not better. It looks like it could be easily changed and upgraded to keep up with the times. It seems that whoever did this to him wanted a very powerful biotic. But it seems that Quarian biotics are rare, so he hasn't had the chance to practice very much. But with the right training he could be a force to reckon with"

"That would explain his biotic abilities and power," Shepard said as she played through what happened back on Therum's surface. "And what is the other?" she asked praying it was something nice and would not lead to another headache.

…No pun intended.

"This is just a guess right now, but it seems to be a half of a control chip of some kind," Dr. Chakwas said pulling up the other chip so it took up the whole screen.

"A control chip?" Shepard said curiosity wondering why Jay would have a control chip.

"Yes, I've analysis it and it seems to be designed to block and unblock memories at any given time, it also has other programs, but i can't get access to them. Almost if he was a….." the good doctor trailed off for Shepard to pick up.

"Sleeper agent," she growled making plans to deal with Jay, "What do you suggest doctor?"

"Like I said Commander it only half done," Dr. Chakwas said pointing at the screen, "I'm guessing that if Jay was supposed to be a sleeper agent for whomever, they didn't get the chance to 'program' him. From what I heard he's been a part of the Quarian people since he was a small child so he hasn't had the chance to be trained, given mission parameters or anything. He's just a blank slate."

"So he's not a threat then?" Shepard asked hopefully. She was quite fond of the hybrid, and she felt like she should protect him. Jenifer felt great red hot rage at the mere thought of somebody doing anything to Quarian-ized Human.

Chakwas closed down the screen and looked at the human Specter, "I would keep an eye on him Jenifer, but I wouldn't worry too much about him. Unless he starts developing heath problem or other issues," she said her left hand resting on her chin like she was thinking about something very important.

"Is this also the reason why he went berserk on the planet's surface?" Shepard asked once again going through what happened back on Therum trying to piece together the puzzle that was Jay.

"No I don't think so," Chakwas said sitting down at her desk, "I'm not a specialist on Quarian biology or anything of the sort, but I'm thinking that because he shares the DNA of the Quarians, he might have picked up a few instinctual aspects that only happen to them. It might be best if you asked Tali about it later since she is a pure-blooded Quarian."

"I see. I'll ask Tali about that later," Shepard said leaning against one of the beds, "did you learn anything else?"

"Actually I learn one more thing, but first let me show you this," Dr Chakwas said trying to delay delivering that piece of knowledge to the Specter. She picked up a data pad on her desk, and handed to Commander Shepard who looked at. On the data pad it show a cleaned up picture of a black diamond with two golden lines on the side. It looked like it was one of the chips that was stuck in Jay's head.

"Do you know what it means?" Shepard asked looking at the emblem, getting a bad vibe from it. She quickly prayed that she never had to meet this group, because she wouldn't know what she would do to them for what they did to Jay.

"Possible a symbol of the organization that did this to Jay," Dr. Chakwas gave a guess, "I'll have it sent in to see if it matches up with the Alliance achieves."

"So what did you learn?" Shepard asked the doctor getting a sick feeling when Dr. Chakwas bit her lower lip a worry look on her face. She became even more worried she spoke again.

"Jenifer I think you should sit down for this," Dr. Chakwas said in a tone that she only used when she got really bad news.

"What's wrong Karin?" Shepard said sitting fully on the bed that she was leaning against.

"I ran a DNA test on Jay to see if we could locate any relatives of Jay to help get an insight on what happened to him."

"Where you successful?" Shepard asked as her heart rose from her chest moving to her throat.

"Yes and no, since his DNA has under gone massive manipulation it was hard to get anything at all, but I did manage to get a match. According to the results Jay does have a few relatives in the Alliance. One in particular…."

"And…."

Dr. Chakwas took a deep breath before starting right into Jenifer Shepard's eyes,

"It matches yours…"

Jay P.O.V

I stood in the elevator as is made its slow decent to the lower levels. My mind going over what Shepard told me what happened on the planet's surface.

What I did.

But how is that possible. I never had the chance to practice my biotic abilities, mainly because we didn't have biotics on the fleet nor did we have the space to practice. Though I did get some practice helping around the Rayya whenever I could, which wasn't all that often given the fact that the elders believed that children should be…well children while they can. That doesn't mean we played all the time, we had training and schooling, but the schedule was chaotic since most of the teachers could be called away at any given time to help with something aboard the ship. I usually spent my free time practicing with Tali and Kal, or training with my mom when she had the time. The rest of my free time I spent by myself holding, pushing, and pulling things with my biotics.

So naturally I am confused that Shepard told me that I ripped apart the head of the Armature when Tali got shot.

That also is confusing me.

Why did I go through Ragne when I haven't reach that level of bonding with Tali. I know that Kal, Tali, and I have bonded to the first stage the Quin'fu ket. So why did I blank out like that?

My thoughts were cut off by the elevator doors opening showing me the cargo hold. I stepped out of the elevator and made my way towards engineering when a voiced called out.

"Welcome back to the land of the living," I looked over to see that it was Garrus who had said that, which I already knew. I mean how many people do we have that have the Turian vocals on-board?

"Thanks," I muttered still a little drained from my outburst.

"Are you okay?" he asked his mandibles twitching a little.

I nodded, "Yea, just a little tired."

"I don't doubt it, you really tore that Geth a new one," Garrus said flicking his head to the side to point out Wrex, "I think you even impressed him. He said something about 'having a quad', I think that a complement. I can never tell with Krogan." He then patted my back with his claw, "Well I'm glad you're okay then."

Garrus smirked at least I think he did. It's hard to tell with Turians, "Now why don't you go say hi to your mate she's been worried sick about you."

I didn't get the chance retort as I was blindsided by something.

That something ended up being Tali.

"You bosh'tet," she yelled at me while hugging me to death, "I was so scared when you collapse like that."

"Tali," I groaned out with a pain breath.

"Yes," she said looking up at me.

"I'm still a little sore," I said.

"Oh Keelah I'm sorry," Tali said quickly getting up and helping, "Are you okay?"

I nodded, "Just a little sore and tired that's all."

"Good," Tali said right before bopping me on the head.

"Ouch," I said not that it really hurt considering that my head was in a helmet, but still. "What's that for?" I asked my anger rising a little bit.

"That's for scaring me," she answered softly which melted any anger that I had.

"I'm sorry," I said, "I thought you were hurt or worse and I don't know I just lost it."

"Do you know why," Tali said before leaning in and adding softly, "Does it have to do with birth?" I just shrugged not knowing what to say. I was too afraid to say I thought it was which is that we were bonding, that she was bonding with a freak. "Maybe we should contact your mom," Tali said snapping out of my thoughts, "She was the one who found you. It might be your best bet since everything about that mission was locked away."

"It might be worth a shot," I said rubbing a hand on under my chin, "I'll send her a message when we make port."

I'll ask her if there is a way to prevent us bonding. Tali deserves so much more than me.

"So…..." Garrus said catching our attention, "Are you going to kiss or whatever Quarians do to show affection." Tali and I looked at him then at each other, and what do you know we were inches apart. Quickly backing away from each other we heard a groan from Shepard.

"Damn it Garrus," she yelled out, "Once again you ruined another one of their moments."

"Yeah Garrus," Joker said through the ships speakers, "If you keep this up your going to make me lose the pool."

"You have a pool?" Shepard asked a little intrigued, "Of what exactly?"

"If, when, and how our love birds get or not get together," our pilot answered, "the odds are looking good for me, although Kaiden doesn't thinks so. He thinks that they have a brother-sister thing going on between them."

I just wanted to crawl somewhere and disappear as my embarrassment rose.

Oh mother, what have I gotten myself into?

"Joker I have a shotgun," Tali threatened the pilot and Garrus.

There you guys go, a little twist to keep you thinking for a while.

I know that in the first two chapters I made it sound like Jay was weaker in the Biotics area, but in this one I didn't. The reason for that is because Quarian Biotics are extremely rare, so you have to take into consideration that the Quarian people do not have the right equipment to accurately judge and test a biotic's potential. If you have any questions send them to me and I'll try to answer them by PM or in the next chapter.

Don't forget to Read and Review.

Quarian Dictionary:

Fren'shal- Term of endearment. Usually used for fully bonded couples.

Ragne- A state of shock after losing a bond mate during battle-due to extreme shock.

Quin'fu ket- [Quin'fu]-the first level of bonding. Usually friends and family members form this bond. [Ket]- means that the bond is permanent the parties involve usually cannot go further in the bonding process. Although there have been cases where the bond evolved.

bosh'tet — curse/insult, likely being relative to "son-of-a-bitch" or "bastard".

(*) Q-cocktail—a term used for a medical application that is a mixture of anti-biotics, immuno-boosters, and medi-gel. Usually given to young Quarians going on their Pilgrimage and to Recovery and Advance Science Teams (RAST)

RAST- or Recovery and Advance Science Teams—this is a group of Quarians who go to areas where the Admiralty Board deemed necessary for the prosperity and defense of the Quarian people and the Migrant Fleet. These recon teams are use for scouting out possible mineral deposits or salvage that the Migrate Fleet can use, they are also sent to pick up Quarians that have sent a distress beacon. These teams consist of the best and available Migrant Marines (MM) on the Fleet. One of the most well known team of MM is lead by Mia'Toon which is well known for getting the job quickly and thoroughly.
