OH MY GOD

I'm so sorry for the long wait. You see as soon as I got back to work I was reassigned a different job that literally starts the moment I get up to the very second I go to bed. The good news is that I am very close to complete my life long dream of moving to Japan. The bad news is that it gives me less time to work on my stories. But I am still working on them.

On a side note my very first SI is in the works as well as a High School of the Dead story. I already a few chapters done with both of them.

On with the story.

I sat there shocked as my mother came running towards me and wrapped me in a hug. "Mom," I said still in shock, "What are you doing here?" I asked. She was the last person I would suspect of running into on my Pilgrimage. My mother broke the hug.

"A Commander Shepard told me that she needed to talk to me," she said, "and since I was on the Citadel for the Fleet I told her that I would meet her in the wards."

I was blown away. "The Commander wanted to speak to you?" I asked confused, "about what?"

My mom shrugged her shoulder, "She said it was about you but she wouldn't go into details." Mom crossed her arms and leaned forward glaring at me making me feel very small. "You're not causing trouble are you?" she asked her motherly tone slipping towards her military leader side.

I waved my hands in front of me. "No," I said quickly, "At least I don't think I did."

My mother narrowed her eyes before she relaxed and rested a hand on her hip. "Alright then," she said motion me to sit back down on the bench. Once we were both sitting down she spoke again.

"So how's your Pilgrimage going?" Mom asked and from there I went on to explain everything that has happen to me up to this point.

When I had finished telling my mother about my tale so far she wrapped my into another heartfelt hug. "I'm so proud of you," she mumbled, "I knew you going to do great things." Mom then released me from the hug.

"So~" she said in an almost sing song kind of voice. I felt my brow become wet with sweat. I know this tone, and when my mother uses this tone it's never good. "You're on the same ship as Tali," she stated causing my eyes to widen.

"Um yes," I said looking down and shuffled my feet. I knew what she was going to ask about, and I didn't want to talk about it. She wasn't going to like what I had to say.

My mom began pressing, "So-"

"How do you stop the bonding process," I said quickly interrupting her before she could say more. I slowly looked up and saw the shock on my mother features. I watched as my mother placed a hand in front of her mouth piece.

"Your bonding with Tali," she said with a gasp which quickly turned to outrage, "and you want to stop it!?" I flinched at the statement.

I nodded, "Yes, Tali deserves something better than a science experiment," I said sadly looking back to the ground.

"Oh Jay," I heard my mother murmured as if she understood my pain.

"JAY!" I heard Tali's voice yelled. I flicked my head towards the direction of the shout to see not only Tali running to us but Garrus and Shepard as well.

I stood up only to be tackled to the ground by a worried Tali. I pat the girl on the back, "Are you alright?" she asked letting me go and looking up at me.

I nodded me head, "I'm fine," my voice felt hollow, dead.

I got back up along with Tali to see my mother and Shepard talking. "So your Commander Shepard then," I heard my mother say as she studied my captain. "You just like her."

I looked at my mom confused, "Just like who mom?"

Mom glanced at me before speaking to Shepard, "It might be best if we took this somewhere more private."

"We can talk on the Normandy," Shepard said leading the way back to C-Sec which were the Normandy was docked.

Later we were sitting in the meeting room and everyone was sitting down in the chairs provided. I was nervous, I had a gut feeling that something big was going to happen, and that it would center around my origins once again. I felt myself being wrapped into a hug.

"I'm so proud of you," my mom said, she just found out about my little episode in C-Sec. "You not only me proud but your people proud by showing your loyalty," my mother put extra focus on the word. I guess she can feel my feelings on the matter.

Shepard pulled up her omni-tool and locked the room so that we wouldn't be disturbed. She also told Joker to cut all feeds as this was a private matter. Then a silence settled in the room that quickly made me more nervous. I felt sweat form on my brow before the internal cooling suit-systems cooled my head down.

"So," Commander Shepard said sitting down crossing her arms across her chest, "Who exactly do I look like?" she asked referring to what my mother said before. My nervousness quickly evaporated and was replaced with curiosity. What does Shepard remind my mother of?

My mother let out a tired sigh. "I shouldn't be telling you this, but," she shook her head, "I believe you have the right to know seeing that….." My mom paused. "It might be best if I start at the beginning," she said standing up.

"About twenty years ago my squad was assigned to search an seemingly abandon base in the Terminus System around the Valhallan Threshold," mom began explaining, "When we got there my team quickly clearing out the rooms trying to find anything that the fleet could use. After going through two levels it would seem that the mission was a bust, but that is when our techie found out that from a data packet that we picked up from the main terminal that the base was still fully operational." I put my head down having hearing this story already. "This base was run by a group called Cerberus, their objective was to create sleeper agents for different races. From what we know Jay was the only one to survive." I buried my head lower not wanting to think about what could have happen to me at that base.

It was then I felt a three finger hand grasp my five finger hand, and with it came with a warmth that calmed me down. I felt my nerves wash away. I looked up to see the owner of that had…..

….was Tali.

The girl who has been by my side since childhood, and the very same girl who never judge me because I was different. Who always helped be back up in my time of need, and who even now is still by my side giving my support.

I gave the hand a squeeze while giving her a smile that she will never see.

"We did manage to find one survivor," I looked to see my mother send Shepard something via omni-tool, "What I haven't told you Jay, is the name of the survivor."

Everyone looked my mom waiting for her to speak.

I heard my mom sigh before her head drop before she spoke, "The name of the survivor and the birth mother of Jay is….."

I got a bad feeling about this, and I guess Tali felt it to because she gave my hand another squeeze.

"Jane Shepard."

I heard Shepard gasp and I shot my head to her. She was looking at a picture of my birth mother and said something that caused everyone to freeze.

"My sister."

How's that for a shocker.

Sorry about the shortness of the chapter but I just wanted to let you guys know that the story is still alive (abet barely) and that I am still working on it. I'll try to increase the length but that depends on what life gives me. This also goes for how much I update.
