Kamen Rider Chaldea

Chapter 04 : Entrance Exam, Start!

Author's Note : Heya, long time no see. Real sorry about the delay for this chapter. It's been like... almost 2 months! A combination of busy college life and my own laziness got to me.

I'll just keep this one brief so you can get on with the story. I'll talk about more stuff at the end of chapter.

Disclaimer : I (obviously) don't own the Kamen Rider series, the Fate series, and My Hero Academia . They belong to their respective owners.

"With my Command Spell, I order you...!" = Normal talking.
'I wonder what's for dinner tonight?' = Inner thoughts.
["What a hopeless Senpai you are."] = Talking through an earpiece/radio.

UA High School, the best Hero Course school on the country. Graduating there promise a bright future as a Pro Hero.

Many would-be students enter with various reasons on their mind. Money, fame, glory, or even purely altruistic reason. No matter the reason, the notoriously difficult entrance exams stands on the way to their future.

A dark-haired boy with blue eyes stood on the front gate. His white Chaldea uniform stood out like a sore thumb due to it's unorthodox design. On his hand is a black smartphone with the logo of a C behind it.

"So, here we are. Our first stop to earn our license." He spoke to seemingly to no one. Unbeknownst to anyone, he is actually talking to a certain AI on his phone through a wireless earpiece.

From his phone, an image of a long purple-haired girl flickered to life. ["Remind me why we're here again, Senpai? Because I still couldn't grasp the extent of your plan even after you explained it."]

"What's so hard to understand? We enter, graduate, get the license, and then we're free to do nightly patrol without the interference of the authorities."

["I get that part, what I don't understand is the part where we needed to waste a few years of our lives here."]

"As weird as it sounds, I kinda miss the normal life of a civilian. Free from the dangers of Singularities, where all I needed to worry about is getting my assignment done on time..."

["Hee, is that so? I can't really relate to that feeling though. I'm just here to watch my miserable Senpai mingle with students a few years younger than him."] As soon as she finished the word, an imaginary lightbulb went on inside BB's mind.

"I don't like that look on your face right now, BB."

["Oh nooo~ I just realized it now, is this why you asked me to forge your papers and document? So you can enter your dream school filled with potential younger girls to add to your collection?"] BB teased with a snicker.

"Gah! Stop twisting my pure desire to experience a normal youth into some kind of sick premise of some R-rated game!" He yelled the last part a little bit louder than intended, attracting the attention of the passerby. He quickly noticed this and makes a gesture as if he were making a phone call.

"A-Anyway, I'll call you later. Thanks for helping me getting rid of my anxiety." He frantically said as he put his phone on his pocket. It's not actually a lie. He did felt a little anxious entering this exam, but BB's unchanging attitude calmed him down somewhat.

A certain pair of orange eyes witnessed this. "This guy... His voice sounds somewhat familiar..."

Meanwhile, a certain green-haired boy were having his own encounter.

"Ah, Kacchan! Good luck with the exam." Izuku greeted his blond, spiky-haired childhood friend.

"Tch, I don't need some stupid shit like luck. It's already a given that I'll pass this with no problem." He walked past Izuku as he said it. He took a small glance at his childhood friend some distance away. 'He didn't look nervous or anxious at all. Does he actually thinks he has a chance to pass the exam? Confidence alone can only get you so far... You damn nerd.' Bakugou doesn't like to admit it, but due to having known the green-haired boy for a long time, he knew the habit and mentality of Izuku. Being confident isn't a word he would ever use to describe the nerd, but that was exactly what he saw today. No shivering or stuttering at all. As if he was really convinced that he can handle whatever is thrown at him. 'Whatever, a Quirkless nobody like him can't do shit. It got nothing to do with me.'

'Kacchan is as cold as ever, but at least he's not actively bullying me anymore...' He closed his eyes to recall about the past few months ever since the so called Sludge Incident. 'I've trained hard too ever since that day, All Might taught me the basics of his Quirk so I should be fine as long as I don't lose my composure.'

He opened his eyes with the flames of youth burning on it. 'Alright! Let's go out there and pass this! Being a Hero is no longer an unattainable dream!' He thought as he took another step with regained confidence... until he tripped on his own legs. 'Ah, that's what I get for being overconfident...'

Just as Izuku were about to plant his face on the concrete floor he felt a light slap on his back. Suddenly his fall were suspended mid air, he floated harmlessly a few centimeters above the ground.

"Are you okay?" Asked a girl with a brown bobbed hair and matching brown eyes who stood beside him.

"Eh...? Wha...?" Is the only response he could muster as he flailed uselessly mid air. The girl grabbed him and helped him land safely.

"That was my Quirk. Sorry for using it on you like that. But i'm glad I managed to stop that fall." She apologized with a light smile.

The first thing that entered Izuku's mind is : 'A girl my age just talked to me!' The second thing on his mind is : 'A CUTE girl my age just talked to and saved me!' He quickly shook his head to regain his composure. "N-Not at all! I-I should be the one apologizing for inconveniencing you like that, umm..."

She lightly chuckled at his reaction. "Ochaco, my name is Uraraka Ochaco. And you are...?"

"M-Midoriya Izuku! T-Thank you Uraraka-san! I don't know if I could still take the exam if I got hurt from that fall. I really owe you one!"

"Think nothing of it, Midoriya-kun. Just be careful next time, okay?"

He frantically nodded. "Y-Yes, I'll keep that in mind."

"Okay then, good luck for the both of us on the exam. See you, Midoriya-kun." She said as she left the boy awestruck with her kindness.

'...All those months training really paid off! I actually talked to a girl!' He screamed internally at his achievement.

"So many people here, guess these days everyone wanted to be a Hero..." Ritsuka observed the people on the orientation hall.

["Kids their age likes to live on fantasyland, Senpai. In their eyes, being a Pro Hero provides the chance to fulfill that fantasy. I'm sure you would've done the same if you were their age."]

"Shh, not so loud, BB. Right now I AM indeed around their age, remember?" He said as he winked twice at his phone.

["Ooh~ How naughty."] She whispered with a giggle.

The spotlights on the room turned on, bathing a man with a long blond hair that points upward with its light. He wore a black jacket with a strange speakers on his neck. He also wore a pair of headphones and an orange-tinted glasses. This man is the Voice Hero, Present Mic. A Pro Hero and one of the teachers of UA.

"To all my dear listeners, welcome to my live show! Everybody say HEY!" He yelled with a huge grin on his face. He waited for a few seconds for a response but no one actually responded.

Ritsuka was actually about to say it but seeing that no else was about to do the same he stopped himself from making an embarrassment out of himself.

["Psst, Senpai. Next time he does something like that, I want you to respond."]

"Ehh? What are you...?"

["Do it or I'll moan as loud as I can. Maybe I'll hack a few speakers to broadcast it too. You wouldn't want that to happen, right Senpai?"]

Ritsuka gulped at the threat and weakly nodded. He prayed to whatever god that exists on this world to save him from this predicament..

The man on the stage shook his head with a fake shivers "Ouch, tough crowds. Oh well, I'll just explain a few things about your entrance exam. Are you ready?! YEAH!" Unfortunately, still no response from the audience.

["Senpai... I'm warning you here."]

"...Y-YEAH! LET'S DO THIS!" He overenthusiastically yelled. Internally cursing the outcome brought upon by the AI.

Many laughed at his sudden scream. For a moment, everyone forgot about the impending difficult exam. Ritsuka's silly action unknowingly dispelled the anxiety plaguing the room.

"That guy again... What's his deal...?"

"Man, that's what I'd call MANLY! Wish I were brave enough to do that myself."

"How youthful, kero."

"How shameful, disturbing the orientation like that..."

"Tch, annoying insect. Extras should just keep their mouth shut."

"Wait, isn't that... Fujimaru-kun?!"

["Hehe, that's my Senpai for you. Ever the comedian, no matter the situation."]

"Ahem!" Present Mic brought back everyone's attention to him. "Nice one! I see that someone here is pumped!" He grinned as he gave a thumbs up at Ritsuka's direction.

He then proceeded to explain about the rules of the exam, where the entrant must defeat or immobilize 'Villain Bots' to earn points. Certain robot gives more points but is harder to defeat.

"Robots, huh? BB, do you think you could hack the-"

["Senpai, who do you think you're talking to? I'm the Super AI that at one point controlled the entire network of the moon. It would be child's play for me to hack those outdated junks."] She boasted with a smug smile.

"Good to know..." He gave an approving nod at his AI companion.

"Excuse me, may I ask a question?" A bespectacled boy asked as he raised his hand.

"Ask away, kiddo."

"On this printout, there are clearly four types of robots listed, yet you have only listed three. An error like this is unbecoming from a top Hero Academy such as UA! We students gather here today to seek guidance on becoming a great Hero, not to see an embarrassing mistake such as this!"

["Yikes, four-eyes there need to chill a little bit."] BB commented while shaking her head.

"While he's not exactly in the wrong. I think there's a better way to deal with it."

"Moreover!" The glasses boy stated, not finished with his little speech. "You there!" He pointed at a confused Izuku with a piercing glare.

"Hmm? That green-hair..." Ritsuka noticed the one being pointed at.

"You have been mumbling to yourself for the past few minutes! You're distracting everyone here! If you think-"

"Hold it!" Ritsuka suddenly stood up from his seat. Everyone's attention focused solely on him. "Uhh... Hey, there. I feel like this is getting a little bit personal and off topic. We're all on a tight schedule here, so I hope we can skip this and continue the explanation from where we left off." He calmly stated with a rarely used serious tone. The glasses wearing boy didn't say anything, only sitting back down to concede with a frustrated look.

["Hehe, Senpai to the rescue~"] BB's giggle could be heard from his earpiece.

"Unnecessary public humiliation like that is uncalled for. I can't just stand here and do nothing..."

"F-Fujimaru-kun..." Izuku stared at his saviour with a grateful expression. Ritsuka discreetly gave him a thumbs up.

With a small glance, Bakugou took notice of the little interaction. 'They know each other?' Is his current thought. 'Nah, must be my imagination. That nerd doesn't have any friend.'

"Okay, okay. You listeners can simmer down. I'll explain that one for ya."

He explained that the fourth robot will reward no points. They only serve as obstacles for the participants. Their large size serves as extra reason to avoid them.

["Hey Senpai, want me to take over one of those and decrease the number of your rivals?]" BB asked with a mischievous grin. Although she already knew the answer he would give. He's a chronic goody two shoes after all.

"Nope, let's try to do this as fair as possible."

["Understood."] She said with a nod. 'Heh, right on the money.' She congratulated herself for the correct guess.

"Well, enough chatter from me. Before we start, here's one of our school motto. Taken from the words of a certain Hero by the name of Napoleon Bonaparte : 'True Heroism consists of overcoming life's misfortune.'"

'Napoleon... I haven't met him as a Heroic Spirit yet. I wonder what his Class would be? No wait, maybe I should stop assuming the gender of these historical figures. 'He' could easily turns out to be a girl. Wouldn't be the first time this happened.' Ritsuka thought about a certain King of Knights and a certain Roman Emperor.

"With that said, let's move on to the main event! Go beyond, Plus Ultra!"

["Yell that too, Senpai. Do it loud and proud!"] Another malicious smirk from the devilish Kouhai.

'Damn it, damn it!' he took a deep breath and pumped his fist up in the air. "PLUS ULTRAAAA!"

Another chorus of laughter erupted on the orientation hall that day.

UA Entrance Exam Location, Area C.

"I don't see Midoriya-kun anywhere here, he must've been placed in a different area."

["Let's stop worrying about other people for a moment and focus on yourself. How will you pass this one, Senpai? You can't transform here unless you want every Pro Heroes on the general area to swarm you."]

"Lord El-Melloi II and Ishtar have already taught me about how to use Gandr, so I was hoping to pass that as my Quirk. Nothing too flashy."

["But haven't you already said that your Quirk is a 'defensive' type to that Midoriya kid?"]

"Yeah, about that. I was referring to Mash's SG Card at the time. Not a smart move on my part I know. I'll just blame it on my 'amnesia' if he asks about it."

["Hmm, is that so?"] BB said with a smile. 'I feel like this exam won't be exciting enough for you. That's why I'll be 'helping' in spicing it up. Just you wait for it, Senpai~'

Ritsuka felt a shiver down his spine but for the life of him he couldn't figure out why.

Ritsuko Marufuji, aka Gudako has been observing a strange dark-haired boy with light blue eyes since this morning began.

She saw him whispering something to himself multiple times, in fact, he is still doing it right now.

'I wonder what he's trying to do? Psyching himself up?' Gudako thought, trying to guess about the boy's reasoning. 'That guy also does thing in his own pace, he didn't care that everyone else was laughing at him when he suddenly screamed like a lunatic during the orientation. At first I thought he was just some dumb hot-blooded weirdo... But the way he stopped that four-eyes showed another side of him, where he is willing to stop meaningless spiel at the drop of a hat. He's almost... like a different person.' This guy have also earned her interest, just like a certain masked Vigilante. 'Or perhaps, they're one and the same... I need to keep an eye on him.' In the middle of her thought, a loud yell stopped her.

"Alright everyone, it's go time! The exam starts now!" Present Mic suddenly announced from the top of a tower.

Ritsuka immediately dashed like a madman. Leaving everyone dumbfounded at his sudden sprint at the starting line.

["Whoa, what's wrong, Senpai? What's the hurry?"]

"Sorry, that was out of habit. Scathach-shishou taught me to be ready anytime during a training, even if it's only a second after the training starts. Otherwise she'll Gae Bolg me to death." He told her as he reminisced about the hellish training from the Ruler of Dún Scáith. He already knew that it would be safe to stop now, but the trauma from the training were just that great. He kept on running as far as he can.

Back on the entrance of Area C, everyone else can only stare at the one guy who started running by himself.

"What's wrong, you guys? The clock is already ticking! That kid earlier got the right idea! There's no countdown during a real battle! So run, run as fast as you can! The exam have already started!" Present Mic reminded with another yell.

And so, chaos erupted. One by one, the entrants left the starting line. Pushing each other out of the way to make room for themselves.

"Finally found one, this one is worth 1 point if I remember correctly." Ritsuka stated, stopping his mad dash when he encountered a green robot the size of a normal human with red monoeye design. The arms resemble a shield with the number 1 painted over on it, signifying the points acquired from defeating it.

"TARGET FOUND, BEGINNING ELIMINATION!" It announced as it noticed his presence. The sole wheel on its legs started revving up.

"Just gotta stay calm, this thing is far from the most threatening thing I've ever encountered, I got this..."

The robot launched itself towards Ritsuka, who stood his ground, patiently waiting for it to come closer. He pointed his finger at it like a gun, a dark energy started swirling at the tip of his pointer finger. "The joint seems less armored, so I'll aim there!" The robot got closer by the second, its fist locked on to the boy's face. Yet it failed to shatter his calm state of mind. He ended the scuffle with a simple chant : "Gandr."

With a single, well placed shot to the joint, the one pointer crumbled into pieces.

"Huh, that went better than expected, I guess that's why it's only worth one point." He took one last glance at the remains of the green robot. "Green with a monoeye design, huh? A classic look that have endured the test of time. I love it! I wonder if I can get a figure of it..."

Suddenly, a giant green robot plowed through a nearby building, reducing it to a pile of rubbles instantly. All eight red eyes on it's blocky face focused on the dark haired boy.

"Holy crap! Now that's what I'd call a mecha! This must be the so called obstacle, a zero pointer!" He stared at it in complete awe.

With a burst of speed not matching its giant size, the robot threw a punch at Ritsuka, who quickly move out of the way. The missed punch left a sizeable crater on the ground.

"Whoa! That was a close call! This exam does not jokes around! The reaction speed of that thing is insane! Must be because it has a more advanced AI!"

Suddenly, the earpiece on his ears buzzed briefly. ["Why, thank you. Senpai. I controlled it myself after all."]

"B-BB?!"

The giant robot pulled its fist from the ground, turning its head towards Ritsuka.

["With the Ultimate AI as the 'pilot', it does not gets more advanced than this, Senpai~"] The red eyes on the giant robot glowed menacingly as it stared at the poor boy.

Not a lot of happenings on this chapter, I know. Like I said last chapter, slow pace for now.

Yep, no transforming on this chapter, unlike modern Rider shows, which is basically a commercial for the merchandise. I don't need to introduce a new forms or a new Riders every few episodes, because I'm not trying to sell you anything. So I think for now that kind of chapter is fine. I promise more Kamen Rider stuff on future chapters. I've already decided if I want more Riders on this story or not, and if I did, I'm confident that their identities will be pretty unexpected.

I tried making Izuku a little bit more confident, but he could still revert back to the nervous stuttering mess he is during the beginning of the series, especially when it involves a girl. Speaking of girls, I dunno if I want to pair Gudao with anyone yet. We'll see how that develops in the future.

I'll see you next time.
