Good-bye
The Titans returned from their jobs in Jump City tired, sore, and in some cases hungry.
That night a thief had broken into the tower and stolen the Red X suit, went to Star Labs warehouse to steal a scanner, used said scanner to locate Xenothium at GoTo Industries, then attempted to steal their supply of Xenothium only to for it to be taken right under Robin's and Red X's noses by Professor Chang, which they had to go and fight Chang to get it back, and after finally defeating the newly made villain Red X disappeared into the night.
All in all it had been a long night for the Teen Titans.
But the night wasn't over yet.
Just on the outskirts of Titan's Island a shadow emerged from the waters and stealthily made its way towers Titan's Tower. The shadow darted from rock to rock slipping into the blind spots of the security systems. Said security system was going through an overhaul much to the chagrin of Cyborg, who very upset that some 'punk-nose shrimp' got past it with ease.
Once the shadow made it to the outer wall next to a window the moon choose that time to shine through the cloud cover and shone on the hidden intruder to illuminate Red X. Underneath the mask was Blitzkrieg who was under control of his father Slade aka Deathstroke the Terminator. Using the chip that he planted into his and his sister head when they were first born Slade was able to command Sean, and there would be nothing he could do except watch as his body did Slade's will. The only saving grace for the ex-hero right now is that Slade didn't want a mindless drone. No, the chip is only used a way to control him through fear for now.
Trying to gain a connection with his 'son' Slade has allowed Sean to say good-bye to anyone his wished, but only one person.
Blitz had chosen his one person.
The only person that really mattered to him.
The only person that had wormed her way into his heart without even knowing that she did.
The only person that truly cared for him despite who and what he was.
Raven let out a tired sigh as she detached her cloak flutter to the floor of Blitz's room. It was the only room she was able to find solace any more. She didn't let it show to the others but Blitz leaving hit her the most. When Cyborg left the team she remembered what she told Starfire at that time.
'People come, people go. It's pointless to be upset about Cyborg.'
Much harder to do when the person in question is someone close.
With a long sigh she sunk into the bed and grasped the nearest pillow as her mind wondered to happier memories. Her lithe fingers traveled down her chest until they found the necklace tucked in her leotard out of plain sight. Raven's eyes began to slowly droop close while her mind began to drift into the world of fantasies.
Unknowingly to her a humanoid form slipped from the darkness incased in shadows. The form made its way to the door when it noticed the occupant on the bed. Slowly the shadow moved towards the bed not making a sound. Not even a whisper. When it reached the bed it loomed over Raven who was soundly asleep unaware of the intruder.
The shadow leaned closer and the moonlight shone through the room dispersing the shadows that surrounded the intruder revealing Red X. X moved a hand to push his mask half way up to set his lips free. The thief placed his hands on the bed to steady himself as he lowered his head to Raven.
"My dearest Rachel," Red X said his voice at a whisper, "Know that I love you with all my heart, and that is why I must do this. I do this so that you and our friends will not be harmed by my so called father."
"If only we met differently. Maybe if we weren't heroes, if you were born in my world or I yours, but we did not. I am glad to have met you though and shown me what it truly means to love and be loved by someone. And that is why I must do this, and so with a heavy heart I bid you farewell."
With that Blitzkrieg kissed the fair maiden on the lips.
Raven was snapped out of her sleep when Red X rested his hands but decided not to do anything yet and wait for an opportunity to strike. Laying there pretending to be asleep the mage waited, but she became confused by the words of the intruder. Her confusion turned into shock and anger when the stranger kissed her.
Mustering her magic she punched the thief in the chest and sent him flying where he crashed into the wall. During flight Red X's mask came off, but the shadows still covered his face
"How dare you!" Raven growled as she used her magic to make herself grow, "Only one person is allowed to touch me! And you're not…"
That was when Red X came out of the shadows and show who the man under the mask was.
"…him."
She had her suspicion on the identity of Red X but she didn't know for sure. No, that's not true. In reality she knew who it was but it's just that she couldn't bring herself to believe it was true. Raven stood there unable to do anything, say anything.
"Why?" she finally whispered out causing Sean to turn around to hid his shame. "Answer me damn it!" she yelled out.
Blitz leaned down to pick up his mask from the floor before he slipped it back on half-way so that he voice wouldn't be distorted. "I have no other choice," he said as tears slowly fell from his face only for them to be absorbed by the material of the mask. "For the sake of you happiness," Blitz took a breath to harden his resolve, "You need to forget about me."
The mage felt her entire world shatter by that one statement. Her body lost the will to stand and she collapse when her knees gave out. Raven landed on the floor with a thud. Sean spun around to see Rachel on her knees while she looked at the ground with a lifeless gaze.
Rachel looked up at Sean with tear filled eyes. Her amulet glowing brightly through her leotard as it tried to absorb the maelstrom of negative emotions coming from within her. "Please," she whimpered with an out reached hand, "Don't go."
"I'm sorry," Blitz said, "This is for the best, it is what you need."
Inside of Raven's mind the emotion-clones were in a mess while they tried to hold her mind together.
Brave was keeping Rage in check at best she could, but the Trigon influence-fused emotion clone was slowly gaining ground as the cage that held it in place was slowly deteriorating. Happy was trying to keep Timid from having a meltdown while Lust and Perversion were…
Knowledge was indifferent as she was playing Go Fish with a sleeping black cloaked Lazy.
Love looked into the black sky and spoke, "You want us to be happy but how can we when the light of our life is gone. How do we live our new life, that you gave us, without you? Does this make you happy? Do you love us truly? I know we love you and we'll do anything to keep you." At the end of the emotion-clone's speech her voice turned demonic.
Life burn in Rachel's eyes as her strength renew by her determination to help the one she loves. "What I need?" she said with a clenched fist. The mage stomped forward making Sean take a step back. "Let me tell you what I need."
"What I need is you by my side were you belong fox boy," she said jabbing a finger into the bewildered hero's chest. "Whatever Slade has over you I'll find out and free you, and when I do you going to owe me big time buster."
Blitz gave a sad smile before he grabbed the hand and brought it up to his lips and gave it a kiss. "It makes me happy to hear you say that," he said rubbing the mage's hand causing her to shiver in delight. "But," Blitz continued, "I'm a lost cause." He released her hand and back away slipping the mask on fully before sinking into the shadows.
"Be happy," he said before the abyss took him.
Raven floated towards the shadows and found nothing within. Her outstretched hand fell to her side, "But without you I can't be."
Slade sat on his throne as his son came out of the shadows. While Blitz's face was covered one could tell the hatred he had for his father by the glare he was giving.
"I assume you said your goodbye?" Slade said his tone full of victorious energy.
Blitz ripped off his mask to reveal his sneer, "Fuck you!" he snarled.
Slade rolled his eyes while he shook his head. The villain pulled out a small sliver cylinder detonator. Blitz glared at his so called father who had his thumb grazing the button. The two tone masked man continued to watch his son glaring at him. "As you wish," Slade said pressing the button.
Blitz eyes widen as he felt his skin burn, the blood in his vein's turn to liquid mercury, and his internal organ turn themselves out. Sean fault with all of his might not to give in to the monster that torture him so, but it became fruitless and he cried out in pain.
Sam watched everything transpired right in front of her. Sean's words echoed within her mind.
'We're just tools for him. He doesn't care about us.'
'Could he be right?' Zero questions herself as her twin brother withered in pain just feet in front of her.
'You know he is,' a deep male voice boomed in her mind. 'Go and free your brother and yourself,' the voice ordered. 'Embrace your heritage.'
'Who are you?!' Sam demanded of the voice. This voice has been haunting her mind ever since she and the others 'visited' Sean at the Hive Academy.
'You still don't know,' the voice said sadly, 'what a pity,' he said before disappearing in her mind.
Meanwhile Slade had released Blitz from the binding of pain. The fox-like hero collapse on to the stone ground breathing heavily. "I…hate…you," he said hoarsely while still managing to have the energy to give his 'father' a death glare.
"Good," Slade said standing up, crossing his arms behind him, and walked towards the down hero. "Harness that anger and just maybe you'll actually be a threat to me one day."
The man then crouched down and grabbed a fist full of Blitz's star color hair lifting him up so he was at eye level. "Perhaps after I order you to kill Titans? Maybe then you'll reach your full potential? Hmm how does that sound?"
Blitz eyes shot open and they were filled despair and fear. "Please," he cried, "don't"
"Then you better not give me a reason too." Slade said releasing the boy who flopped to the ground. "Serve me without question and I promise not to hurt your friends." He looked expectantly at his son.
"Well?"
Using all the energy he could muster Blitz got on to one knee bowing his head, "What is thy bidding my master?"
Behind his mask Slade couldn't help but smile.
