Look Into the Sandman's Eyes
The bright moon shines through your window.
Once again you cannot get to sleep.
You toss and turn,
Wishing that something could help you get to sleep.
Then you feel an instant need to scratch your leg.
You reach down,
Feeling dry sand on your covers!
Knowing you never brought sand into your room,
You think to yourself.
You quickly throw the covers off your bed!
Eyes widened,
You see sand flowing onto your bed!
Clouds cover the moon making it dark in your room!
You feel a strange presence,
Spotting a figure at the end of your bed!
Looking up you see glowing green eyes!
You notice it was only a boy
Maybe about 14.
You try and scream,
But he covers your mouth with sand.
Wide-eyed, the boy comes closer,
Looking into your eyes!
Memorized by his eyes you start to settle.
Feeling sleepy,
You don't really mind about the sand.
Looking up at the Sandman,
You quietly ask him to let you go.
Just a simple nod and the sand is gone.
Slowly the boy disappears.
The moon is bright once again and your room is no longer dark.
Yawning,
You pull the covers back onto your bed
And you rest your head on your pillow.
Before drifting off to sleep,
You think to yourself.
The Sandman was never loved…
