A/N Thank you to SRAM and Warriorcreed for your reviews. They mean a great deal to me. I hope I can do justice to these characters.
I also want to thank mac1706 for following the story.
I still am just borrowing these characters.
After going over the contract with Captain Ortag and signing it, Penny was headed for a meeting with the Infiltration Team.
She had been stunned when she realized that because she would have no way to spend any Credits during the next twenty years and the size of the compensation she would be a rich woman when her tour was over.
On the other hand, it had been disquieting to learn that a surprising number of agents lost their lives. She supposed it made sense since they spent so much time on primitive and savage planets.
She and Ortag had agreed she would try to find out what happened to the agent on Earth.
When she entered the Conference Room, she was met by the four members of the Infiltration Team. She had often heard of the amazing things they could accomplish. She was not disappointed.
Doctor Hoktor, a Dorian, started the meeting, "Based on what you told the Humans, we have taken the following steps."
"First, we have created a Nebraska Driver's License in the name of Penny Hansen."
"Second, we created a high school record and diploma for the same name at Omaha Roosevelt."
He smiled, "We didn't want to make you stand out in any way so that someone would wonder why they didn't remember you. They had a graduation class of over two thousand students so they should not expect to know every student."
He smiled, "We weren't sure how smart to make you. We ended up giving you a 2.9 grade point average which put you about in the middle of the graduating class."
"To be safe, we did not have you belong to any clubs or take part in any activities. And of course, your picture is not in the yearbook."
"At least we did not have to create a work record."
"Third, we created a social security record for you." He reached out, "Here is your social security card."
"Fourth, you are an only child and I am afraid I need to inform you that your parents are dead."
"Their names were Wyatt and Susan Hansen. Here is your birth certificate. We also recorded your birth."
He smiled, "Your birthday is June 22, 1988."
"We gambled a little in that we did not bother to create records for them. Hopefully, there will be no reason for someone to look up data on them."
"Fifth, we created a bank account at Pasadena First Bank with a balance of $10,432.89. If anyone ever finds out and asks where you got the money, you will say you inherited it from your parents when they died."
"Sixth, we created a credit card record for you. We created a couple of transactions. It has a limit of $2,000." He reached out again, "Here is the card."
"Oh, and here is a copy of your signature everyone has on record, I suggest you learn to write it as soon as possible."
"Since you have just graduated from High School, we did not file any income tax returns for you. But remember to do so when you get a job."
"We will need to administer a series of shots to protect you against Earth diseases. You also should obtain some form of health insurance." He smirked, "Health services are apparently very expensive." He hesitated, "Although your internal organs are within norms for a human, you should avoid being examined if you can."
One of the other members of the team spoke up, "I am afraid Earth medicine is still quite primitive in many ways. If you are injured or become ill, you may consider calling for a ship instead of trusting yourself to them."
"Well, that's what we have. Can you think of anything else you might need?"
After Penny thought for a while and couldn't come up with anything, he went on, "There will no doubt be times you will need to think quickly at questions you receive. Just do all you can to avoid standing out, attracting attention."
As Penny started to rise, he stopped her, "And, oh, one more thing. You are three times as strong and four times as fast as most humans. You will need to be careful to keep that a secret."
"From here you will go to have surgery on your ears. After that we will want you in the theater to be educated on Earth, both the current situation and its history."
When Penny rejoined them later, she couldn't avoid the feeling that she had really changed her appearance. She knew it was just her ears but still felt almost naked.
She spent the next few days watching film and hearing explanations of Earth's past. She was stunned as she watched the long history of war and suffering. She knew Celara had its savage time, but she could hardly believe it had been as bad as this.
She also was shown the history of entertainment, of music, radio, TV, movies, and theatre.
Then she was introduced to the world she would live in. Again she was shocked at what was occurring. Wars in places like Afghanistan and Syria. The constant turmoil in the Middle East. So many nations armed with nuclear weapons.
She also felt deeply saddened by scenes of poverty and people not getting enough to eat. She found herself a little angry how humans had ignored the dangers to their planet.
But most of all, it was just the sight of so much suffering.
She learned of the important people of this time, the leaders, the celebrities.
They covered social mores, actions between men and women, how children were raised.
They talked of food and drinks, especially dangers of alcohol that could cause her to reveal something.
They talked about grocery and other stores.
They then worked with her on her wardrobe.
She spent time on a driving simulator.
Finally, the Team decided she was as ready as she could be.
She then sat down with Ortag, who gave her a communicator she could use to contact the nearest Starship which was about 6 weeks travel away. He also told her a ship would return in six months to see how she was doing and then would come every year after that.
Then after wishing her good luck, he had her beamed down to her apartment along with her new set of clothes and the communicator.
When she had first been beamed down, she had found a one-year lease signed by the missing agent, Randall Smith. He had apparently paid the full year in advance.
There was also a key to the apartment.
She had noted that the lease had been signed eight months before. That supported the idea that the agent had expected someone to come much sooner.
With there being only four months left on the lease, she decided she needed to try to see if she could get a new lease.
She wondered if she should put on something more conservative or wear something more revealing. Not knowing anything about the landlord, she settled for something in between. It showed off her legs and a little cleavage.
When she met with him, seeing the way he looked her over, she decided she should have gone with the slutty look.
"Mr. Stevens, my name is Penny Hansen and I am a friend of Randall Smith who leased apartment 4B. He has moved out of the country and told me I could live in his apartment until the lease is up."
Leaning forward a little, she saw his eyes move to her cleavage and widen a little, "I really do like the apartment and would like to extend the lease."
Tearing his eyes away from her chest, "We could certainly look at that. I would of course have to check your place of employment, credit record, etc."
Crossing her legs, "I understand. I am afraid however, I just graduated from High School and just moved here from Nebraska. I really have never worked. But I plan to find a job within the four months left on the lease."
Removing his eyes from her legs, "I am sure you do plan on looking, but I am afraid we will need to wait for that to happen."
"Are you sure? I really would like to get this done." She leaned forward again, "Isn't there some way we could get this over with?"
She smiled, "I would really be so grateful."
Stevens once again found his eyes drawn to her chest and legs. It would be nice to have someone like her in the building. Especially someone who was grateful to him. It was also true that rentals were really down in Pasadena and it would be hard to find someone to take over the apartment. He shrugged to himself; if she did miss a payment or two, he could always evict her. Or, even better, perhaps they could work something out…
"I really shouldn't do this, but you seem like a nice girl. Why don't we do a six-month extension and see where we are."
Penny smiled and got up to give him a hug, "Thank you so much."
Stevens smirked as he felt her breasts push up against him.
"You're welcome."
As she stepped back, he smiled, "Okay, let's get the paperwork done."
When Penny returned to her room, she wasn't very proud of herself, but was happy with the result. She hoped she could get a job and be able to live there more permanently. She realized she wanted to be near Sheldon and Leonard and be part of their lives. She told herself it was because they would probably be aware of any science breakthroughs. She ignored the little voice that said she just enjoyed being with them.
She did decide she needed to take a shower.
Later, she heard voices in the hall. Looking through the peephole she saw Leonard and Sheldon enter their apartment.
This time, she didn't need the little voice, she faced up to the fact she was excited about seeing them again and wondered what the future would bring. Putting on a Nebraska tee shirt that extended below her waist and a pair of shorts, she set out across the hall.
