I decided to make a fanfic featuring characters from both Shin Megami Tensei V and Persona 4.
I hope you enjoy it. If not…then I'm sorry.
I'm doing my best either way.
Chapter 1: Just Deserts
After apprehending a serial killer, the Inaba Investigation Team were living a peaceful life in Japan. It looked like a job well done for them, even if they weren't expecting to meet a goddess in the process. What were the chances of that?
It was good that nobody else was going to get hurt by a madman. Especially since he wasn't insane anymore.
However, not all was well with the world. At least, not their hometown.
There had been reports of strange attacks.
It didn't look like that humans were responsible.
These attacks seemed animalistic in nature.
What was going on?
Tohru Adachi was still owning up to what he did, so it didn't seem likely he was responsible. And there was nobody hanging from a telephone line. So nobody was getting pushed into the Midnight Channel, at least.
And according to Teddie, the Shadows had been peaceful following his arrest.
So what was going on?
Perhaps they would find out eventually.
But would Nanako be safe? They would hate it if anything happened to her.
It looked as if they were going to have to investigate…again.
Then again, that was what they did best.
On the lighter side of things, new students had joined their school.
Their names were Tao, Miyazu, Yuzaru, Ichiro, Kouhei, and Sahori.
It was nice to meet new faces.
Though it was on the fence as to whether they knew about the attacks or not.
"I think I'm going to like it here!" exclaimed Tao.
"Maybe, but I've heard that there have been a few murders recently." noted Miyazu. She wasn't sure what was going on, but it wasn't anything good.
"It's scary stuff." noted Ichiro.
"I can only hope they catch the killer." remarked Yuzaru.
His sister was rather frail, unfortunately. Her immune system just wasn't the best. But medicine did keep her healthy. He could thank the doctor for that.
One could only hope that she didn't end up being attacked by whoever was responsible.
It seemed like some sort of wild animal.
"The sooner they catch the culprit, the better." noted Sahori.
For some strange reason, their friend Kouhei did not talk much.
He was kind of like Yu.
But he was still pleasant to hang around.
Namely because he liked to help others.
It was admirable.
They saw a portrait of Mr. Morooka.
"Please try not to remember him as a jerk…he didn't deserve to be murdered by a diseased maniac." noted the portrait.
"Was he one of the victims of the recent attacks?" asked Miyazu.
Kouhei put his hand on his chin.
It seemed plausible.
However, according to the death date that was underneath the portrait, his death happened before the recent attacks.
Ironically, it was one of his own students that had done him in.
Sahori decided that she was going to join the lacrosse club.
It sounded like fun.
Little did she know that she was going to earn the dislike of two of the club members.
A dislike that would turn into burning hatred.
Fortunately for the students, the first day at school was a good one.
Class wasn't interrupted because of an alleged animal attack.
And of course, the teacher was willing to help the new students get settled in.
His name was Mr. Kondo.
Unlike their late teacher Mr. Morooka, people got along with him. Of course, he seemed the most normal of the lot of them.
"We have a bunch of new students today. So I hope you get along with them." said Mr. Kondo.
Sadly, two of these students would not get along with Sahori.
But that was a tale for another time.
Fortunately, Tao enjoyed her first day at school.
And so did her friends.
But on the way home, something unexpected happened.
A portal suddenly opened up.
She wondered what was going on.
Suddenly, she got sucked in.
Tao let out a scream…and then there was silence.
As she did so, a Jack Frost stepped out.
"So this is the human world I've been hearing about, ho!" exclaimed Jack Frost.
She found herself being whisked away across time and space.
And she then found herself in another world.
"Where am I?" asked Tao.
It looked like she was in a desert.
Where was her sunscreen?
She decided to look around.
She could only hope that she didn't die of dehydration.
Suddenly, a slime showed up.
"What is that?" asked Tao.
"Mmm…tasty human." remarked the slime.
She would make for a fine appetizer.
And something told him that she would taste sweet.
"Well, this cannot be good." noted the girl. It looked like she had encountered a human's natural predator.
She tried to run away, but the slime seemed persistent.
"Is this how I die? Eaten by a slime monster?" questioned the saint.
Perhaps it was. Even if the slime wasn't exactly fast.
Suddenly, help showed up.
His name was Aogami…and he was basically a robot.
"I can help you…but I require you to merge with me." explained this mysterious individual.
"You wish to combine with me, huh?" asked Tao.
"Yes. You need to if you wish to survive." noted Aogami.
"Well, I guess I have no choice then." answered the girl.
She decided to accept this being's offer.
As soon as she took his hand, she began to transform.
"What's going on?" asked the slime.
Suddenly, she transformed into an angel.
She was wearing a strapless golden dress to go with the angel wings, which themselves were golden.
Also, for some strange reason, her shoes were gone.
"I wonder where my shoes went." questioned Tao.
But then again, she enjoyed how the sand felt against her feet.
"I think eating her just might have gotten more complicated." noted the slime.
It was hard to catch prey when they could fly away from you.
And besides, he was sensing power radiating from this girl.
A strong power.
She pointed her finger at the slime, and blasted the blob with a light beam.
"Ouch!" exclaimed the slime.
"It's good to know I can defend myself. Though I'm not one to solve my problems with violence." noted Tao.
Unfortunately, that was the case for her best friend Sahori…in an alternate reality, that is.
"You'll need to defend yourself, because there's more demons than just that one." explained Aogami.
"There's more of them? What have I gotten myself into?" asked the angel.
"I'm not sure how you got here, but we'll need to find you a way back home." noted the robot.
"Good. I don't feel like I'm safe here." remarked Tao.
"Trust me, you're not. That slime you're facing is pretty mild compared to the other horrors lurking in the Netherworld." warned Aogami. Truth be told, slimes were basically the weakest demons around. They could swallow you whole if you allowed them though. You wouldn't really feel it, but you wouldn't want to experience it.
"That doesn't sound good." noted the angel. What had she gotten into?
"We'll need to work together in order to survive." explained the proto fiend.
"I see." nodded Tao.
For now, she blasted the slime with light…until he was sent packing.
"This is a good start. Beginner's luck, perhaps?" asked the angel.
"Possibly. You'll need more than light magic if you really want to fight demons though." explained Aogami.
"I guess I better start learning then." noted Tao.
The next day…
"Have you seen Tao? She's my best friend since forever." noted Sahori.
"I feel a sense of deja vu." remarked Chie.
Sahori had gotten settled into the lacrosse club rather quickly.
It turned out that she had a talent for strategy.
But even so, some of the club members felt she was too bossy.
She was the newest member after all.
Still, most of them felt that they could work on that.
With two unfortunate exceptions.
"Where is she? It's not like her to miss school. Her attendance record is practically perfect." remarked Ichiro.
"I know!" exclaimed Miyazu.
Naoto wondered if they had another mystery to solve.
Did they need to enter the Midnight Channel again?
However, there was no sign of the missing girl on the channel.
So where was she?
She needed to find answers.
Luckily, her friends could help with that.
"A girl's gone missing? Reminds me of when I got sent to the Midnight Channel." noted Yukiko.
"Well, we got sent there too." remarked Rise.
"It was scary." noted Kanji.
"I don't think it's the Midnight Channel this time." spoke Naoto.
Yu wondered what was going on.
Perhaps if he searched hard enough, he would get answers.
"Wait, where's Yosuke?" asked Teddie.
"Probably trying to pick up girls." suggested Chie.
She wouldn't put it past him.
As it turned out, he was trying to do just that.
But he had picked the wrong girls.
They were Aki and Suzume, the meanest girls around.
And yes, they were the same girls that tormented Sahori in canon.
"Hey, girls!" exclaimed Yosuke.
"Get away from us, you loser!" shouted Aki.
"Yeah! You're so lame!" exclaimed Suzume.
Aki (the one who wore glasses) pushed him to the ground.
"Get lost, you dork!" bellowed Aki's partner.
The two of them walked away.
"And here I thought Chie was mean." noted Yosuke.
Admittedly, Chie would never attack him unprovoked. But her temper needed work. At least Yukiko was able to put up with it. The two were best friends forever.
"Why are girls so mean to me?" asked the boy who had awful luck.
"Are you alright?" questioned Sahori.
She stretched out her hand.
"Huh. Maybe I spoke too soon." remarked Yosuke.
He accepted her hand.
"You're one of the new transfer students, are you not?" asked the wind user.
"Yes, I am." nodded Sahori.
"I'm pleased to meet you. My name is Yosuke." greeted Yosuke.
"My name is Sahori." answered the redhead.
Perhaps there were girls out there that were nice after all. Even if Saki had her reasons for disliking him. It was sad that she died, even if she wasn't the nicest girl in the world.
This could be the start of a beautiful relationship.
Suddenly, Chie showed up.
"There you are! There's a girl that's gone missing! We need your help finding her!" exclaimed the karate master.
"This is Chie." explained Yosuke. "She always beats me up."
"Are you going to let her walk all over you?" asked Sahori, raising an eyebrow.
"Um, can you please not punch and kick me?" questioned the boy.
"I wasn't going to do that, I just figured we could use your help." noted Chie.
"Whew!" exclaimed Yosuke.
Sahori gave the thumbs up.
"Is this a friend of yours? If so, I can understand why you weren't with us." remarked the kung fu queen.
"Thanks for being so understanding." noted Yosuke.
"I guess she truly is a friend of yours." remarked Sahori.
"You wouldn't happen to know where Tao is, would you?" asked Chie.
"I wish I knew. She's my best friend in the world. The fact that her life could be in danger is what troubles me." noted Tao's best friend.
"I know how that feels. I freaked out when I realized my friend was sucked into a TV." explained the kung fu girl.
"She got sucked into a TV? What were the chances of that?" asked Sahori.
"It's a long and crazy story." noted Yosuke.
"Well, if you need help finding her, you can count me in." said the redheaded girl.
"Why not? There's always room for one more…though it's surprising how much our circle of friends has grown, hasn't it?" asked Chie.
"Of course." nodded Yosuke.
Sahori decided she would check it out for herself.
She could only hope that wherever her friend was she was doing alright.
In alternate Minato…
"I guess I kind of feel bad fighting these demons." noted Tao. Even if it was for her survival.
"Sometimes it isn't necessary. You can negotiate with them instead." explained Aogami.
"Oh really?" asked the angel.
"You can try with that pixie over there." suggested the robot.
Tao nodded.
She might as well given how cute the pixie was.
"I think you're very cute." said the angel.
The pixie giggled.
"You think so?" asked the flying demon.
That was very flattering.
"You don't exactly look like a demon…" noted Tao.
"I guess I do kind of look like a human…I could say the same for you though." remarked the pixie.
"Funny you should mention that." spoke the angel.
"I think I'll join your side. It could be fun!" exclaimed the flying girl who wasn't an angel.
"So we can recruit them to join our side?" questioned Tao.
"Yes, we can. In fact, I strongly suggest you do so. I imagine we won't be able to survive with just the two of us." explained Aogami.
"Well, the demons do seem to be gathering together over there." noted the angel.
"Are they?" asked the robot.
"Yeah. I'm starting to think the demons are making friends with each other." remarked Tao.
"Indeed. Don't be surprised if they work together to fight you." explained Aogami.
"I guess I should recruit more demons then." noted the girl.
"Of course." nodded the robot.
The more the merrier, she supposed.
"However, you should keep in mind that demons will want things from you in exchange for their help." noted Aogami.
"That makes sense, I suppose." nodded Tao.
Still, she was glad to have a pixie at her side.
Something told her she would be very helpful.
Elsewhere, Sahori got the feeling Tao was making new friends.
It was making her feel very happy.
She still wasn't sure where she was though.
It was good that she found people that could help.
Constructive criticism is helpful. I'm not following the same storyline as the games though.
That's not how I roll.
Though I am open to ideas.
