Chapter 5: Meeting The Family?

I don't know how long I was pacing around in the Student Council room while Sona, Tsubaki, and the rest of the Student Council are in the room. I am THIS close to pulling my hair out here at the ridiculousness of the situation. "So... let me get this straight. Sorry, but this is still something I need to wrap around my head."

"I understand." Sona says, having lost all the meekness and putting on a brave face. I am guessing it is more for me since I pretty much lost it for a second there.

"So, in Devil Society, Pure blooded Devil heirs and heiresses are married off between each other?" I say as I make a round. Sona nods her head. "You didn't want to be married off, as it would interfere with your goals?" She nods once more to my question. "Right, right... so to circumvent this you convinced your father to include a extra requirement, which was that your suitor had to beat you in Chess?"

"That is correct, Luca." She says as she puts her head in her hand. I can see Momo, Tsubasa, Tomoe, Reya, and Ruruko are looking like they have a mix of concern and guilt. Tsubaki seems to be cool headed, but Saji is seething still. I really don't have time for this shit.

"So since I beat you in chess then by Devil law we are now engaged and to be married?!" I say as it all just comes out. I didn't mean for my frustration to make my voice sound so annoyed, but it is really REALLY hard.

Sona doesn't flinch as she swallows all emotion down to make it seem like she is strong in this moment. Impressive willpower Sona, but still! "Yes. We are effectively engaged and are to be wed by Devil laws. The contract included a notification spell for my parents so they would know when I would lose fair and square. They already know."

I can feel my brow twitch as I speak. I give a chuckle as I do. "Ohhhh perfect. You know I have just one itsy bitsy question for you, Sona. If I may of course?" I put on my best polite smile that really doesn't fit me right now.

She sighs. "Yes? What is it that you wish to as-"

"WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU CHALLENGING PEOPLE TO RANDOM CHESS MATCHES WHEN YOUR WHOLE FUTURE IS ON THE LINE EVERYTIME?!" I yell at the top of my lungs and let all my emotion I have fill it. I must have leaked a bit too much since I seen that my hands were on fire. I extinguish them and look to see that Sona had flinched back and looked down.

"I... just like to keep my skills sharp. I didn't think you would be able to beat me. I haven't lost a chess match since the contract was set, so my confidence was high!" She gets in on the argument as well. "Besides I HAD to put that in there so my father wouldn't marry me off to someone I didn't want to be with! I would be damned if he married me to the Glasya-Labolas heir!"

"I..." I take a sharp inhale and then exhale as I fall back on the couch. My voice comes out strained as I am in utter disbelief. "I understand, but the fact that you are still challenging random men to chess is THE problem here. It is a good strategy, but all it takes one person to fuck you over and now here we are."

She looks to me with an understanding face as she is ashamed of the situation. I continue before anyone else can talk. "The fact is I am not fit to marry you either. I can't provide you with a happy life the way I am either."

"Well I mean we can-" She says and make a shush gesture to her.

"Sona, I am mentally unhinged. I am honestly so obsessed with my goal to murder Galilei that I am effectively warped by it. I am pretty sure I can be called a serial killer with how many Stray Exorcists I have killed for even looking my direction and the worst part is I actually like it. No I love it!" I say as I slam my hand on the table and it startles the room. "I am a cold blooded killer who has PTSD and a bloodlust that I lose myself too when I get near a potential target. I am broken and that is the problem here. Another is the fact we barely know each other, but how I am mentally is honestly farrrrr more important to this than you think!"

She looks at me with pity and then she sighs and comes to sit next to me. Saji goes to stand, but Tsubasa keeps him in place. "I can make time, Luca." I look at her with a raised brow. "Look I don't want to back out of this since my father would use this as an excuse to alter the contract. After I get you Galilei I need you to do me a favor."

"Nooooooooo..." I say as I look at her.

"Just give it a bit of time and I can see about healing your mind a bit. I don't want my life to go to someone who would just see me as some walls that they can split. Someone they can just use to make babies and move on after. I think this is far more reasonable than using the terms of my deal with you to force you into something you don't want." She says and I can hear the pleading in her tone that she is trying to hide. "Please just... think about it. We can get to know each other a bit more and maybe something will come from it. If not then I will dissolve all forms of engagement and I'll take my chances."

She is rubbing my back as I put my face in my hands. This is stupid as hell, but... fuck I can't send her to something like that. That would be a horrible fate, but... dammit. "Fine!" I yell and then I stand up and then turn to her and get right in her face. "You better bring me Galilei or Freed for this shit. I am putting a lot on this and if I don't get my closure... in as brutal honesty as I can put it... I will burn Kuoh to the ground and everyone in it will go too."

The room goes deathly quiet and I can see the small amount of fear on a few of their faces. Sona and Tsubaki seem the most unaffected by this however. "I have been screwed over by the previous Devil families I worked with and if you are the same in this just to get what you want... a second war is the least of your worries when I am done. I am broken and lost and I will take this whole world down with me if it means that Valper dies and my friends are avenged." I am about an inch from her face at this point. "Capiche, Sona?"

She nods and then stands up as she pushes her glasses up. "I don't like being threatened... but I understand, Luca. I'll get you those two and we'll see where things go." I sigh as I fall back and then lean against the arm of the couch as she continues. "I guess this was as tiring for you as it was for me."

"... just a bit." I say with a tired tone. I feel her hug me and I look over to see her looking at me. "What?"

"Thank you." She says and I give her a confused look. "You are really saving me here... despite your rash threats and actions, I am truly grateful." She then stands up and then walks to the center of the room as she waves her peerage over. "My parents would like to meet you this weekend and then we will go from there." They then teleport out of the room.

I sigh once more and then just lay back on the couch as I just go to doze off. "Yeahhhh whatever. I am so done with tonight." I then just let sleep take me, but then I get a quest.

Quest Received

The In-Laws!

Looks like you are gonna be meeting your new family soon Luca! I am actually happy for you since it may be just what you need to finally get some of your humanity back. The wedding bells are around the corner and I can see you looking really good in a suit.

Objective: Survive

"WELL THAT'S NOT FUCKING OMINOUS SYSTEM!" I yell out to it.

This quest cannot be declined.

"... perfect. I'm going to bed." I say as I clear my screen and head to sleep.

Saturday Afternoon

It's been a week, that is for sure. I, and Kiba, had some time to hang out and we ended up fishing Thursday afternoon. Caught a few things, but nothing to really write home about. I feel a connection with that guy and he does too. He reminds me a lot of Isaiah and it just makes being friends easier with him and more refreshing. I then went patrolling for Stray Exorcists that night too and I gained another level as well. I got about 15 stat points now, but I am still saving them.

Then I was actually invited by Momo and Tsubasa to go shopping for some more clothes for myself. I went, but I thought people would be making it hard to shop, but Momo ended up casting a small illusion on me to make me appear normal. It was nice actually and I got a few new shirts and stuff. They were a bit upset that my wardrobe was mostly dark colors, but I like them and they aren't the ones wearing them.

Saji has been on some fuck shit though. Every time I see him he has this jealous glare always aimed towards me. Sona has taken notice as well and has had words with him, but he still thinks I ain't 'good enough' for Sona. As much as I agree with him... spite is a hell of a drug to make you wanna prove someone wrong, and so far I am holding a lot of it in from all the childish 'how dare you talk to the girl I like' bullcrap.

Speaking of that though... that is the highlight of this whole week. I got the meeting with Sona's parents and everyone is telling me to be on my best behavior. What they see is what they get so they can like me or hate me for all I care. Still though the 'Survive' objective is definitely messing with me a bit. I decided to tone back my casual asshole personality... just a bit for this because of the objective.

I am currently being dressed in a suit by Momo and Reya. They were arguing if I should wear a green or red button-up shirt for this and I just let them keep prattling on. With luck I'll be late and we'll call it off. After a moment Tsubaki walks in and is dressed up to go as well. Apparently it is customary to assemble the peerage for something like this and I groaned a bit and gave a wave to her as she was coming over.

"What is taking so long? Why isn't he dressed?" I point to both girls and they turn to look at Tsubaki.

Reya was the first to speak. "Tsubaki! Thank goodness you made it here. Can you tell me what you think about Luca wearing a green button up? I feel like it would look better if he had this color because it makes his eyes pop!"

Momo then interjected. "No! He should have red because it would look much more professional on him. Wearing green would be good for a party, but this is a meeting and fancy dinner. He shouldn't pop, but instead should be more tame and tidy. Red will also make a statement of power instead of being festive."

Tsubaki looks between the two as sparks form between Momo and Reya's faces while they stare each other down. She then looks at me and I just shrug as I stay sitting. She sighs and then moves the two of them away from each other. "Stand up, Luca." I do as she says and stand up. Tsubaki then takes the two shirts and puts them over my white undershirt to see how I look in both. As she does she inspects me from top to bottom for anything out of place.

Eventually she stops in front of me and turns my head to the left and right, taking in everything. She then steps back and then makes a window with her fingers to look through at my impassive face. Tsubaki seems to go into deep thought as she hums to herself and then snaps her fingers and then a magic circle appears. It deposits a container of gel and she squeezes some in her hand. She then runs it through my hair as she styles it to be swept back and then put the red shirt on me. "That looks good to me. It should do for the day and I have no doubt you'll turn a few heads."

"Pfft... is that for my scars or for my look?" I say sarcastically.

She smiles and then answers curtly. "Both." Wow she is ruthless... I love it. "You look like a mob boss and that will give a commanding atmosphere to you, while your scars will dissuade anyone from trying to harm you."

"I get it. What do you two think?" I say to Momo and Reya.

They both look me over and do a few circles around me as they check me out. Momo then fixes my tie and Reya fixes my collar. After that they both stand in front of me and nod in satisfaction. "Looks great!" Momo says in a chipper voice.

"You look powerful, Luca!" Reya follows up on that and then she moves and grabs a cologne. She gives me a few spurts and then after that she nods to Tsubaki.

"Well, you seem to be released from your jail time Luca." Tsubaki says, comparing the whole dressing nightmare into a prison setting.

"Is it yard time already warden? I thought I at least had 30 more minutes of boredom and torture to go." I say sarcastically and this gets a small chuckle from her, as well as a few giggles from Momo and Reya. I chuckle as well and then look to the group. "Soooo where is this fancy dinner at?"

Reya was the first to answer. "Oh! It's in the underworld and it's this really nice place called the Morningstar! The food there is amazing and it is a cultural melting pot for different dishes. Really expensive though so I can't believe I get to eat there!" She practically fawns over the idea of this place.

"So really big time food place? Got it. Guess we better get this over with, but I wonder how the Devils will feel about a human just showing up with all of you. Might be fun if they react the way I want them too." I say with a grin and chuckle, but get smacked in the shoulder by Tsubaki.

"Don't start anything with anyone. Defend yourself if necessary, but don't make a scene in there. Sona would like to have you on your best behavior, but also able to still be you." She chastises me and I groan slightly. I then hear the door open to see that Sona has entered.

She is dressed in a lavender dress that matches her eyes and has a slit in the side for her leg. She is wearing red heels and the dress is hugging her figure tight as it shows off all her curves in the right places. Behind her is Saji in a blazer and a yellow button up. His hair is fixed up and next to them is Tsubasa in a baby blue dress that has a lacey back. Tomoe wears a maroon dress that has a slit on the opposite side of Sona's slit and it has a bedazzled chest. Finally, Ruruko is in a green dress that stops just above the knees and has a sash around her waist.

Sona takes a look at me and then gives me a scrutinizing look. The other girls nod and gasp as Saji rolls his eyes. "Dick."

Sona finally stops and then nods as well, but I can see a slight flush. "It looks good on you, Luca." I nod to her. "Now that we are all ready we will be teleporting to the restaurant to meet my family. My sister is going to be there, so... please don't freak out from her personality, okay?"

"The Leviathan is gonna be there? Greatttt if I wasn't on thin ice before I am now." I groan as the rest laugh a bit. "Well I won't worry too much about that Sona. I dealt with plenty of people before so your sister is just another person to me." I say with a bored tone.

Sona nods, but there is something about it. A bit of hesitance there, like maybe she is embarrassed of her sister or something. "Right. Well let's head over there. They are most likely waiting for us now inside so let's go. Everyone stand close." She announces and we all move closer to her. She then holds out her arm and looks at me. I roll my eyes and interlock my arm with hers at the elbow. "I know this is still sudden, but it is just as bad for me. You can at least try to enjoy yourself."

"This is my 'enjoying this' face. I would rather spend time closing in on Freed and the other pests, but I really don't have a choice with this either." I say in a deadpan tone. "Let's see... you look nice." She quirks a brow at that. "Just take the damn compliment. Dates and stuff like this isn't my scene. I fit better with arson, murder, and hunting." That gets an amused sigh from her, I can tell it is amused because she is smirking a little.

"Tsubaki." The tall woman turns to her. "If you would, please?" Tsubaki nods and in a flash we are all teleported to the Underworld.

My vision clears slowly and I don't stumble since I have Sona to keep me steady. I blink my eyes rapidly and once it clears I look around the scenery. It honestly doesn't look like I thought it would, since I pictured the biblical version of hell.

The sky is not blue, but more of a green color and there seems to be vegetation around as well. "It... looks like Earth." I find myself saying as my eyes are drawn to the buildings and multiple Earth Cultures that seem mashed around in this place. Even the people walking around look like a bunch of people that you can find walking the sidewalks of Manhattan.

My words seem to grab Sona's attention. She looks at me with a raised brow. "Yes. What did you think the Underworld would look like?" She had a bit of warning in her voice there that I shouldn't say something offensive.

"If it was Saji, that tone would work." I hear him shout "Hey!" at me... deja vu? I shake the feeling and then continue. "I thought it would look like I threw a temper tantrum to be honest. This is honestly a surprise since the Book Big G had written was depicting it as such a horrible place.

"First of all, don't bully Saji." I chuckle. "Second, that book is mostly propaganda and really took the extreme views of how Devils are... well now at least. In the past it was correct about our mannerisms, but now we are a lot more civilized and less evil." I nod along as she explains.

As we were talking, we were walking towards the Morningstar and it was absolutely beautiful. The outside was encrusted in gold as it snaked it's way around it. The doors were a bright orange and the building was made of carved marble. It had large windows and went three floors high, some of the windows were stained glass and had pictures of Lucifer on them and others had pentagrams and other symbols for Devils. A nun would have already burned up at this point.

There was a greeting of waiters and waitresses at the front that stood at attention and opened the doors for guests to enter. Walking inside was a whole different story, since the inside looked like a 6 star restaurant through and through. The building was broken up into multiple cultures from Earth and there was a large fountain in the center of the place. Above it, hanging from the ceiling was a large, I mean bus size, Diamond Chandelier that seemed to glint and sparkle at the slightest eye change.

Sona, her peerage, and I walked up to a woman behind the counter and she greeted us with a chipper smile. "Welcome to the Morningstar! Do you have a reservation with us?"

"Actually we are here to meet with my family for Dinner here. Sitri family." Sona says as she remains professional and curt.

The woman goes through a list of people and then finally finds the name and table location. "Right here! You all are on the 3rd floor balcony, very fancy! Please follow me and I'll get you to the table." I didn't miss the second look she gave me, as her smile fell slightly and she put it back on. I just ignored it and as we walked I noticed something. My footsteps are a lot louder than befo- oh. People are looking at me and Sona and whispering. Wish I had enhanced senses to hear them, but that's what happens when you are born a human.

As we walked I let my eyes wander around and catch the eyes of some Patrons. They were casting me worried glances and others gave me sneers. One guy in particular was a blonde with short spiky and swept back hair. He wore a red blazer and pants with a white button up and seemed to be sitting with a large ensemble of women with differing cosplays. He glared at me with contempt and disgust, but I glared at him right back as my cyan eyes bore into his and we held each other's glares for a bit.

He then stood up and it was at that point that we passed by a wall that broke our eye contact. I wasn't even hiding the fact I was glaring at him since my head was aimed his direction. As I turned it straight Sona and the rest were looking at me. "What?"

"You were staring at someone for a bit. Did you see someone you know?" Ruruko asked me with a slightly tilted head, her gaze curious.

"Nah... some guy stared me down, so I stared him down right back. I don't mind odd looks, but the one he gave pissed me off." I said as I turned back forward to see where I was going.

Sona pinched my hand where I wasn't burned and I turned to look at her. "I thought I asked you to not cause a scene." She said mildly annoyed.

"I kept my word. If I wasn't honor bound by our agreement I would have burned him to ashes instead." The woman leading us stiffens as she walks. "This is me being nice to someone that pisses me off." I turned back to looking forward. "Only for tonight though."

She sighs and nods as we keep walking as the rest of the peerage awkwardly laugh as they just let it roll off of them. We all grew to like each other, but they still don't know how to handle that side of me. When we make it to the top the woman then holds the door open for us and ushers to the balcony. It has an amazing overlook of the surrounding area and the small breeze that flows through feels rather nice... relaxing even. If hell is where I am going when I die then I really don't mind at all.

As we were walked around Sona then spoke to me. "Most of the people here are of high class houses and pure blood Devils. Ignore them." I nod to her as we are led to a table with what looks like a young couple. The male at the front of the table has long black hair and wears glasses that show off his purple eyes... well I see where Sona gets those from. He seems to be dressed for more like a business meeting than anything else. His suit is well kept, black as well with a handkerchief his hands have a ring on them as well with a signet, probably a ring for Lordship or something.

Next to him is who I can only assume is Lady Sitri. She looks like Sona, but with twintails and no glasses. Her dress is a light lavender and goes down to the floor. White glove sleeves run up her arms and end just before the shoulder. On her hand is a ring as well, but it looks more like a wedding band. Looking back to Lord Sitri I can see as he readjusts his hands that he has one as well, it was just covered for a bit. One of the very next things I notice though is that the Leviathan isn't here. Not gonna question it and just go with it.

As they notice us they both smile and then falter for a moment as they see me locked around Sona's arm. I give them my best winning smile, but it honestly looks like I am bored and would rather be in bed or something. Either way the Lord stands up and then gives a small display as some form of greeting to us. "Greetings my sweet Sona, peerage, and... you? You must be the one that beat Sona in chess and thus became engaged to her." A few silverware falter in there cutting of food or eating in general. He extends a hand towards me to shake. "I am the Lord of the Sitri house, but you may call me Lord Sitri."

I look at his hand and then take it in mine for a firm shake. My smile is polite and nod to him. "Luca. It is a pleasure Lord Sitri. Forgive my appearance as it is not by choice unfortunately." I try to joke with him to break the ice and he gives a chuckle.

"I am sure there is a story there, Luca. I would love to hear it if you are not too pained to tell it. The pleasure is mine, as it is nice to finally see my daughter has become engaged. We thought it would never end up happening at some point." He says with his own jab and I did my best fake chuckle. He released my grip and then motioned to the table. "Please meet my wife. To you she will be Lady Sitri, Luca."

She smiles and holds out her hand to mine and I ended up grabbing it to shake as she gives me a raised brow. I look to see that Lord Sitri is and Sona says to me. "You were supposed to kiss the back of her hand, Luca."

"Well my previous upbringing has left me without the knowledge to properly greet Lords and Ladys. You will have to forgive my barbarism for that, and perhaps it is for the best." I point to my mouth. "I don't think someone would want this on them." I say with a joking voice, but also half serious. I get a small chuckle from them.

Lady Sitri even chuckles and then looks at me with a smile. "Not at all, Luca. You may try again another time. I am sure that we will be teaching you etiqutte that you lack in the future. We will overlook this tonight." She says as she retakes her seat and Lord Sitri pushes it in for her.

"Please... all of you sit and we will begin ordering and conversating. I am eager to get to know my new son-in-law." He says with that smile on his face. I nod and then motion for Sona to take a seat. When she does I push it in for her and she gives me a thankful look. I take a seat next to her and this puts me next to her father and across from her mother. The rest of the peerage take their own seats as well around the table.

After we all order our drinks for the night we get to scan through the menu to see what it is we would want to eat. This place has it all! There's Italian food and pastas, American food, Canadian, Chinese, Japanese, etc... this fucking thing is like 6 pages alone to cover all the entrees. I get too boggled with it and I just decide to settle for a steak. I put my menu down and I hear Lord Sitri clear his throat as he looks to me. "So, Luca. How did you end up coming into contact with Sona?"

Honesty is the best policy. "I was hunting someone and broke into their territory so I can kill him." Sona choked on her drink a bit. Lord Sitri and Lady Sitri gain quizzical looks and I continue. "I ended up finding a potential friend of my target and, after coercing him into giving me what I wanted, Sona found me. We had a meeting where she challenged me to chess and I wiped her board. Now here we are." I say as I don't break my gaze to him and I see the peerage out of the corner of my eye sweating and Sona looks down with a faint blush.

"I... see..." He says and then drops to a neutral expression. He then takes off his glasses to clean them with the handkerchief corner. "You're quite forthcoming with your crime of breaking into a territory. May I ask why? Is it arrogance and thinking yourself untouchable?" His tone is dangerous.

"Not at all." I wave it off. "Honesty is the best approach and if I said anything else, and you found out, then all trust would be lost." I take a sip of water and then proceed to meet his gaze again. My expression bored. "If I am to be apart of a family then I would like for there to be no deceit between one another. It is only fair I treat you with the same honesty I expect from you." My voice drawls towards the end.

He looks at me longer and then turns to his wife as they seem to have a silent conversation. They give a smile to each other and turn to me. "Well said Luca." He then clasps my shoulder. "Your attitude and words never faltered when being accused and your head remained level. We'll make a Lord of you yet." He said now in a more happy mood. As he touched me though his expression seemed to turn to curiosity. "What is that?"

I raise an eyebrow. "What is what? The suit or my shoulder?" I say as he puts his hand on mine. "Ummm... I am actually confused now." I say as I look at Sona.

She seems to be staring intently as she looks to her father with interest. "Father has a... unique ability to appraise a person's potential in magic. Is something wrong father?" She asks and I return to looking at her father. A few tables seem to catch on and I can see some are listening intently.

"I... I can't begin to describe it. You must be an accomplished person when it comes to the arts of magic. I haven't felt such raw magical power since Sirzechs Lucifer." He says in a whimsical tone. Sona, and the rest of the people who heard that turned to look at me.

I don't let it bother me too much. "No... I actually haven't used any magic in my life. When I use my abilities I feel it, but it is always out of reach. My visage comes from my abilities damaging me as I use them. I am slowly killing myself as I continue to use them." My words cause Lord Sitri and Lady Sitri to gasp. A few more are now crane necking and appraising me. Sona now has a small smile as she looks at me with interest. "Devils are attracted to power so... well I guess that magic seed is better than I thought."

"Your faction must be so proud to have someone of your capabilities on their side. I hope this marriage between my daughter and you can open friendly relations with them." He says with a bright smile that beams with pride.

"Well I am actually factionless." He quirks an eyebrow. "I'm just a human. Nothing more or less Lord Sitri." And now my ears are ringing as I here a cavalcade of 'what' and the like. I sigh and then continue. "Yes... I am human and no I will not join a peerage. I have too much work to be tied down as someone's slave so save your breath and offers." My gaze passes over the crowd of people and they seem to get angry at that, but one glare from Lord Sitri puts them back in their seats.

"I see, Luca. With this much magic power sealed within you... you could be the second coming of Merlin and if you were to become a Devil in the future that power will only skyrocket further. I am sorry to hear that your power causes you harm. I am sure a Phenex Tear will help solve any of the effects that you have taken on you from long term exposure." He says with a smile. He then pulls a vial from a magic circle. "I can give you one as wedding gift to keep you interested in staying with my daughter. Would this entice you?"

I want it... I really want it. Phenex Tears are like the number 1 most expensive thing in the Supernatural world. Just ONE of those things can buy you a small country! I'd probably be able to heal my body as well from all the damage, but the only bad part is my pain receptors would come back as well. In the end I shake my head as I close my eyes. "You don't understand how bad I want that. The chance to be normal again is just... I would give a lot for that, but I won't be forcing Sona into a life she doesn't want. I know what it is like to not have a choice and have everything taken from you so if she wants to call off the marriage at any point I will let her do so. No Lord of hell will be able to force me to go through either." I keep my gaze leveled towards him and my tone holds no room for arguments.

Lord Sitri seems to be mulling my words over and he is taken aback by my casual rejection. I can see the gears turning and then he smiles once more. I turn to follow his gaze and I see Sona has a blush that is nuclear at this point and she has a genuine smile as she is looking down towards the table. It makes me smirk for a minute and then I look back to Lord Sitri. "Well I think you will find yourself with this in the future, considering the look of bliss on my dear Sona's face. I am happy to see that you hold her wants to such a degree. Truly, I want to say, welcome to the family, Luca."

I don't know why, but those words... they make me happy to hear that. It's enough to pull a rare, genuine smile from me and I nod to him. I then feel like someone is staring me down once more and look for the person, only to see the same Blonde guy again with his group of females. "Well there you are! Low class scum like you doesn't have the right to glare at, Riser!" Oh that third person talk just pisses me off. "Riser will forgive you if you grovel and kiss the boots of Riser, you disgusting freak!"

I wanna rip him to pieces right now. I really do, but I can't cause a scene, so I just turn and look forward. "I truly appreciate the welcoming Lord Sitri. It makes me feel like I am getting something I have been missing for a long time."

"Yes..." He says as he and the rest look towards Riser. "What are you doing here, imposing on our meal, Riser?" He says as his tone is laced with a warning tone that promises pain if he continues. Least this guy has my back now.

"Riser is here to correct the attitude of a low born and show him how to act towards his betters! Stay out of this Lord Sitri." He says as he stands posted with a hand on his hip. This dude looks like a pompadour that found a bigger dogs territory, so he tries to act big to scare it off.

"You will watch your tongue, Riser! I will not put up with this attitude towards my guest and future son-in-law. I don't care who your family is!" He says with contempt as he slams his hand against the table.

"Oh?" He looks me over and then sneers. "So this little sack of burned flesh is your daughter's fiancé? How the mighty Sitri family has fallen. To take a low born Devil like him into your family as the next in line for the lordship of your house is disgraceful. Riser disapproves immensely." Riser says as he walks over to me and then stands behind me.

"We don't need your approval Riser!" Lady Sitri speaks up and then aims her scorn towards him. "Leave now and we may forgive you of this transgression against us."

His smile gets even more cocky as he reaches over me and then grabs my water. I don't try to stop him. "Grovel before Riser, peasant. Know your place among the pecking order." He takes a drink and pours the rest on my head. I am soaked and my hair is ruined. Tsubaki tried really hard to make me look good too, so this just makes me extra mad. I stay silent as my hands come to rest in front of my face.

"What? Nothing to say yet? Maybe Riser should add a few more scars so you learn your place better." He says as his hand gets a magic circle above it that has a small flicker of flame.

My eyes narrow and I lower my head to the table. "I am unable to cause a scene."

"Hm?" He hums and the rest of the table looks to me.

"Sona has asked me not to cause a scene and so I will not. Her words prior to me entering are the only reason you are alive." Riser clicks his tongue and lowers the flame towards me and I continue, unbothered. "Make no mistake Riser. I won't be the cause of the scene, but... if you continue and attack me." I turn a cold glare to him and stand up. "I will kill you right here and right now. No Maou will be able to stop me from doing so either." I say as my voice oozes finality. I then light on fire as it rivals his own in heat and power.

Author's Note:

Uh ohhhh seems we found the fire rooster and man does he crow. Let's see what happens next, eh? I had fun writing this part and I never really did something like this before either. I hope I did good since it was my first time, but I understand if quality XD

Massone22: I read your comment at work today and spit up my morning coffee at that XD. It gave me a great laugh and started my day off great, so thanks for that!

RedReaper: Glad you do! It is great fun to write.

Wade98: He is... I like his kind of character in shows and other media. It was what I naturally gravitated towards playing in D&D and MnM since I play the smug villain really well and I turned the smug down for him and just made him slightly heroic XD
