Bell Cranel was a child of about 6, with pure white hair. He was an innocent child. He had little to no understanding of the world outside of his obsession of hero stories. He grew up on a small piece of land near a small town in the mountains.

He grew up idolizing the hero stories of old about elves, monsters and the dungeon without a real care in the world. He was taught from a young age by his grandfather that heroes were the best people to admire. He loved his grandfather more than anyone else in the world.

He has no parents.

He grew up with only his grandfather to call his family. He had a few friends but spent most of his time reading the few stories that his grandfather would write for him.

This boy Bell Cranel never knew but he was going to be the dawn of a new age of heroes

Chapter 1

"Bell!"

The boy was sitting underneath a tree in the far corner of the property his grandfather owned reading the dungeon orotio, a hero story about the gallant Albert Wallenstein and Aria the wind spirit. Looking up from his story when he heard his grandfather call. Grabbing a leaf nearby he stuck it into the side of the book so he wouldn't lose his page. He got up with his slightly too large of a book for such a small child of his stature, the cottage he and his grandfather lived in.

Bell ran as fast as he could along the small property that his grandfather owned, dancing around the planets in the garden with their slightly to green fruit and stepping over the small puddles left from the countless storms over the past few months.

Getting to the doorbell walks in to see his grandfather in the small living room sitting next to the empty fireplace.

What's up, Grandpa? ``Bell said curiously.

Bell's grandfather and old man with gray hair and a potbelly from the years of eating and drinking. He wasn't fat by any means of the word, he had lots of muscle and was very strong in his own right from the years of farm work.

"Bell my boy come over here and sit down i have some stuff to explain to you"

Bell walks over to his grandfather curious to what his grandfather would call him in for. His grandfather was usually fairly passive and usually wouldn't seek him out for this kind of thing.

Bell sits down in the small living area that they have in his usual lumpy arm chair near the fireplace. He finally asks his grandpa

"What was it you need grandpa"

"I have something important I need to tell you… about your family. Specifically you parents and what you actually are"

Bell was confused. He never put much thought into his parents or what might have happened to them so he was curious why his grandfather even brought it up. Bell had always been content with his perverted grandfather and never needed to know what happened to his parents but he was curious now that his grandfather actually volunteered this information.

"Bell… I need you to understand some things before i go any further"

Bell nodded his head in understanding.

His grandfather continued " I need you to understand that no matter what you hear in a minute, remember that I will always love you with all my heart and there is no need to change yourself."

Bell was confused but nodded his head anyways at this uncharacteristically serious tone of his grandfather.

Bell. Let me start with you parents. Your mother was apart of a large Familia in Orario and i never knew your father but i'm told he was a good man that was always thinking of others until the day he died."

Bell was listening intently but still a little confused by why this was brought up in the first place,

"... Your mother was named Materia. She was a part of the famous Hera Familia. I knew her well, she was very pretty she had a shade darker hair then you do and was the sweetest person you could ever meet."

Bell was getting more and more curious about his supposed mother with everything that his grandfather would say about his mother. He was a little disappointed that he didn't know much about his father but he didn't let that hurt him too much.

…Your mother bell, was very ill for most of her life. This was entirely due to an incurable desi that would leave her weak if she did really anything even walking would put a bit of a toll on her. You can imagine how much stress childbirth was on her. She died shortly after you were born and requested that I and hera take care of you for the foreseeable future, or at least until you can fend for yourself."

Bell was at a loss for words. He was learning so much about someone he never even knew. It was odd no matter how much he thought about it, even though he had never met his mother, the idea of her dying left him a little saddened. After a few moments of silence A Few questions ran across his mind.

"Grandpa?" Bell said cutting his grandfather off from continuing his story Bell asked

Why did my mother ask you and her to look after me? What happened to my father? Where is Hera?"

Bell ran a mile a minute with his slew of questions for his grandfather. This rapid succession of questions amused the old god.

Bell's grandfather chuckled a little before say " Hold on there bell ill explain here in one moment and then i'll ask you a question that will be important going forward in your life.

This made bell settle down a minute. He focused on his grandfather and nodded.

"Well to answer your first question. I was asked to take care of you with all my heart because he is my wife. I'm Zeus the god of lightning."\

Bell almost short circuited when he heard this. He was a little confused, surprised and excited to hear more.

Zeus continued " Your father was the next part of the story. Have you heard of the three great quests?

Bell nodded wordlessly. Being a hero nerd like he was was really helping out for once, Bell said confidently

The leviathan of the sea, the Behemoth master of land and the one eyed black dragon the queen of the skies."

Zeus continued " well my familia and Hera's were two of the largest familias ever and strongest so we were tasked with completing these with completing these quests. We were able to complete the behemoth and leviathan relatively easily."

Bell was so happy to hear this story and learn of his family. Bell was an odd child, even to Zeus's surprise he was taking this extremely well. THis was odd, Bell was a 6 year old child but he's taking this better than an adult normally would.

Zeus comminuted " after the leviathan the last quest was the OBED. That was by far the hardest we even knew it to be. Hera and I were overconfident. We sent our Familia's to deal with it. We never would have expected 3what happened."

Bell even being a naïve little child he still understood the tonal change in the story so far. Zeus had an obvious shift in the way he told the story.

"... they finally found it and engaged it. This was the first mistake."

They had a plethora of level 6', 7's, 8's and even a level 9, but that made no difference. It was a massacre. They almost all died fighting that accursed beast. Almost none of them came back and this weakened both of our family's greatly. So a power struggle in Orario took place and we were kicked out to maintain the balance. This led Hera being so heartbroken about her children to go back to Tenkai and me to go into hiding with you."

Bell only marginally understood what his grandfather was telling him. He understood what this all meant in the grand scheme of things, or at least thought he did. The one thing that he was confused with was what did this all mean for him?

"Bell." Zeus said after he let the story sink in.

"There is one thing about you I have never told you and never really planned on telling you but things have changed and I need to know an answer soon. Be assured that no matter what you say I will always love you no matter your answer."

Bell became a little anxious after this. What did his grandfather need from him

"Anything grandpa!" Bell said this in a kind of shaky broken voice.

Bell, you are part spirit because I needed to use some divinity to help salon the process of your birth.

This surprised bell. He was more confused about how that happened but happy that he is truly related to Zeus in some way, but still a little confused.

"...Bell… Will you become the hero of the new age."

Zeus let this sink in a moment before saying

"By this I mean will you get stronger and kill the OBED… I Know this is very important and i know you might need to thi-"

Bell is elated at hearing that he can become like the hero's of old and save the day so he cuts of Zeus mid sentence and says without even thinking in any meaningful way
"Of Course I'll become a hero Grandpa! This is awesome i can finally become a hero. I can do all the things I want."

Zeus was only marginally surprised by this. He knew that bell may jump at the chance to become a hero. He knew that he himself had almost brainwashed the child with the stories of heroes and the good parts but, this all worked out well in the end.

Alright bell, If you're sure you want this you will be spending the next 8 years getting stronger before going to orario to crawl the dungeon. This will be a grueling and hard road but I believe in you, my boy." Zeus finished this and left the table to send a letter to some acquaintances.

8 years later

There's a lone boy no older than 14 walking along the main road. He had his face and hair covered. He looks kind of frail and normal in almost every sense of the word. The only odd part of this mysterious child is the way he walks, isn't that of a child. He walks as though he has had many years of experience and that he's a seasoned veteran in fighting. He leaves no openings anywhere but seems completely relaxed in his stride.

This unknown young man walks up to the gate of Orario and finally speaks to the gaud of the gate. Obviously a Ganesh Familia member from the clothing.

"What is your business here hid" the guard says, almost annoyed he had to get up from his chair he had nearby.

The young man looks up and lifts his hood off of his head and finally says.

"My name is Bell Cranel and I was planning on going into the dungeon."
