Chapter 46: New Danger Aries
It's been a few weeks since Stoke, the twins (Melody and Harmony), and Zale have been living at the Edge. There was a lot of hardship and stress during their time here. Like the time when they went to Berk with Mira and her family to help in building the new stables for dragon with Kishi's help and the other dragons help while the Riders were doing some dragon training at the Edge. Stoker got odd looks from the villagers but soon was assured by X that they were simply curious since it is not every day, they met another Human/Dragon hybrid. So far for them, they helped the villagers when they were away from the Edge, though when they came back. They learned from the riders that Hookfang went off to help a female Monstrous Nightmare to protect her nest from a rival Titanwing Monstrous Nightmare. Soon afterwards, Berk was attacked. It was a hit-and-run attack, a single ship fired a few salvos, mostly with catapults and volleys of fire arrows, then just turned tail and ran. It hit a few buildings in town including Astrid's parents' house. Astrid panicked and headed over to her parents' house, which was burned and destroyed. Lucky, Gobber informs her that her parents are fine as they were out at the yak races.
The riders and human hybrids were going to help rebuild the houses. Snotlout, Ruff and Tuff are going to ferry whatever supplies they need. Fishlegs do the heavy lifting with Meatlug, X, and Stoker. The J Twins with Melody and Harmony will check on those who were injured, and Mira will get Treecutter, Windstreak and Spiritrunner to gather some wood for the houses to be rebuilt. And Hiccup and Kishi will look for Edgar, since they believe it was him that caused this attack. Though it was not Edgar's style, he prefers attacking head on instead of a hit and run. They'll find out once they find him. Stoick informs them that he was heading north, it was their best bet. So, they took off while the rest fixed up the houses. They spent hours fixing the houses and tending the injured, they finished until noon and they were completely exhausted. When Hiccup and Kishi came back, they saw the others were in the arena. Hiccup saw Meatlug's claws were in warm buckets of water.
"Uh, is Meatlug okay?" Hiccup asked Fishlegs with concern.
"Of course, she'll be fine. All that taking off and landing is tough on her insoles." Fishlegs said, earning rumbles from Meatlug.
"Oh, okay. We couldn't find any sign of Dagur, but he did have a full day's head start on me. How'd you do the repairs?" Hiccup asked the group.
"We fixed the houses that were damaged." Joe answered to Hiccup.
"Yeah! It was awesome!" Tuff added.
"Yeah, but everybody was so grateful, they gave us all this food." Ruff gestured to a table of food, which surprised everyone.
"They also gave us this furniture." Tuff added, gesturing the furniture that were piled beside the food. "They just left it piled up in front of their houses."
They looked at them blankly as they saw the belongings. The Vikings put them out in order to fix their houses. However, due to the twins being…twins, they had other ideas of the furniture and belongings. Suddenly, not so silent Sven came rushing in with sheer panic.
"Hiccup, It's a terrible tragedy! Someone's been looting all the burned houses, taking food, furniture...anything valuable they can get their hands on!" Sven explained.
The group made a blank look before they turned towards Ruffnut, who was sitting casually on a chair that she and her brother took while admiring a shiny golden necklace. But she soon stopped when she saw all eyes were on her as she quickly hides the necklace behind her back.
"That's horrible, what kind of world do we live in?" Ruff questioned, trying to act all innocent.
Sadly, the riders and hybrid were not having that as Hiccup assured Sven that pretty sure it'll reappear very quickly. Soon, Astrid came back from checking her home, she felt sad by the fact that her house that she grew up in is now gone. Snotlout offers to let her cry on his shoulder, but she flings him across the room, which makes her feel better.
Hiccup explains to the team that Edgar was last seen fleeing due north. By his calculations, the Insanity Leader could be heading out of the archipelago. So, they have to go back to Dragon's Edge first thing tomorrow morning. They'll use that as their base to search for him. He then tells them to go back to their houses and get a good night's sleep. Mira offers Astrid to stay at her place tonight, but Astrid kindly declines as she prefers staying at the arena. Being so kind, Hiccup suggested that he should stay too, and not too long the other riders joined with the Hybrids, much to Hiccup's annoyance.
Soon afterwards, they woke up on the next day to head back to Edge, even though Snotlout's back was sore but was fixed thanks to Hookfang whacking him to the wall, but Astrid decided to stay here and train some recruits to protect Berk. At first, Hiccup wanted to protest, but Kishi had to agree with Astrid since Berk needed to strengthen their defenses.
So, with that said and done, the new recruits of the Berk's new defenses are Gustav Larson, Spitelout Jorgenson, Gothi, Not-So-Silent Sven, Mulch, and Bucket. Each of them got on their own dragons, of course, Gustav still has Fanghook as his dragon while the others got theirs. Spitlout has a Deadly Nadder which he named Kingstail. Gothi's dragon is a purple Gronckle which she named Herb. Sven's dragon is a Monstrous Nightmare which he named Fearfang. Lastly, Mulch and Bucket have a Hideous Zippleback which they named Whip and Lash.
Astrid gave them an extremely hard and serious training that almost led to breaking them. However, the harsh training did save and help the Dragon Riders at the Edge when Edgar the Insane made a sneak attack on the base. They were lucky that they had a big help with Astrid's Team which they called the A Team as they will keep Berk safe from invaders.
Speaking of invaders, the Riders faced a new threat that came to Edge. Stormfly was taken by Dragon Hunters. These hunters have more knowledge about the dragons and their weakness. Heck, they're using Dragon Root arrows to knock their dragons down. And they knew that Gronckles aren't affected by this as they were led by a man named Ryker Grimborn. Ryker wields a dragon proof sword as he appears to be more skilled in combat and has more knowledge of the dragons' weakness. The rest of the riders were captured while Hiccup, Kishi-in Mors's form-, Mira, and Snotlout were able to escape and gather some reinforcements. Kishi took off back to the Edge to get X and Stoker while Hiccup leads Mira and Snotlout to a curtain destination. Although, it was an annoying ride since Snotlout has been pointing to random small islands.
"Is that the island we're going to?" Snotlout points out.
"No." Hiccup sighs in annoyance.
"How about that one?"
"Also no."
"That one?"
"For the last time-" Hiccup looked down and saw the island with small holes on it. "Oh, yeah, that's exactly the one. My bad."
As they flew down, Snotlout was getting the feeling of unease since the holes gave him a reminder. Not a good reminder, but a really, REALLY bad reminder. And that's when it clicked through his tiny brain as he realized what made these holes.
"Hiccup, I recognize these holes. Why didn't you tell me we were going to an Island of Whispering Deaths?"
"Because I knew you would react exactly like this. Besides, this isn't an island full of Whispering Deaths. Somebody else lives here, too." Hiccup said.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake and something big exploded out of the ground. And it was none other than the Screaming Death itself. Toothless, Hookfang, and Sapphire were in a defensive stance, growling and glaring at the Screaming Death.
"Oh, the Screaming Death? Why don't we wave him over and have him kill us?" Snotlout reminded Hiccup in fear.
"Would you just relax? When he gets closer, he'll recognize us and calm down. I hope." Hiccup said before turning to Mira. "Or better yet, recognize Mira."
"Me?" Mira pointed at herself.
"Think about it, you're the one who somehow lured the Screaming Death to his mother. Maybe he will recognize you better than us."
"I hope you're right." Mira said with worry before cringing as the Screaming Death lets out a roar.
"Come on out to Screaming Death Island. We'll have a few laughs. Get killed." Snotlout said in a mocking tone.
Suddenly, the Screaming Death charges at their direction in full speed, roaring in fury.
"Worst plan ever. This guy hates us. Let's get out of here!" Snotlout yelled in fear.
"Have you forgotten? We reunited him with his mother." Hiccup said to Snotlout, trying to assure him.
"No, but it looks like he has!" Snotlot yelled in fear before screaming when the Screaming Death came closer.
But then, when the white dragon spotted Mira, his red eyes widened and he suddenly stopped in front of a flinching Mira, who was shielding herself from the incoming Screaming Death. Mira peeks and saw that the Screaming Death was looking at her.
"…"
"…"
"…Um…hi?" Mira greeted the Screaming Death awkwardly, earning a snort from the white beast.
Hiccup releases a sigh. "Good, he remembers you."
"How can that be a good thing?" Snotlout whispers fearfully, not comfortable to see the Screaming Death up close.
"Because there's something in those tunnels we need." Hiccup said before going towards Mira slowly. But he stops when the Screaming Death eyed at him dangerously. "Okay, Mira, try and persuade him to let us go to the tunnels." He whispers.
"I don't he would let us, Hiccup." Mira said hesitantly.
"Just let him know that you're still his friend." Hiccup assured.
Gulping, Mira prayed to the gods to keep her safe as she slowly made her way to the Screaming Death. Speaking of which, the giant white beast stared at Mira suspiciously as she made her way to him. She clears her throat as she speaks to the Screaming Death almost awkwardly.
"Hi…I know you remember me…and I was hoping you can let us go to the tunnels and…you know…we need something in there, so would you be so kind and…I don't let us through…please?" Mira almost begged.
The Screaming Death stared at her dead in the eye. Mira almost wanted to scream but something happened, the Screaming Death grunted before turning away as he went back to the hole, leaving the group blinking in surprise.
"What just happened?" Snotlout asked in disturbance.
"I think… the Screaming Death allowed us to go through." Mira said hesitantly.
"Uh, how about, no. There is no way I am going in there." Snotlout said to the group.
"Fine, you stay here while me and Mira collect the item we need." Hiccup said as he and Mira started walking towards the hole with their dragons, leaving Snotlout and Hookfang behind.
"Well, it's just you and me Fangster, what'd ya say we go and…Hookfang?" Snotlout looks around for his dragon and notices that his Monstrous Nightmare was leaving him to go with Mira and Hiccup to the hole. "Hookfang! Aw, come on! Not you too! Those things I do for this dragon!" Snotlout complains as he follows his dragon to the hole.
As they entered through the tunnels, they saw some Whispering Deaths close by. However, they were avoiding the group since they have Mira with them. They know that she is the mermaid that brings good fortune, and the Whispering Deaths want the good fortune.
"Did the Screaming Death look even bigger to you?" Snotloyt suddenly asked as they were on their dragons and flying through the dark tunnel.
"That's what I was counting on."
"Oh, really? Thanks for letting me know." Snotlout said sarcastically.
"Hiccup, what's actually the plan?" Mira asked.
"The Screaming Death grew that means he had to molt. And if he shed his skin, there should be old scales around here somewhere…like those!" Hiccup points at the white scales on the ground. The dragons landed as their riders dismounted them before Hiccup and Mira started collecting the fallen scales.
"If you're thinking what I think you're thinking, I think your thinking is the worst plan ever." Snotlout said to Hiccup.
"Well, I disagree." Hiccup said as he and Mira started collecting the scales. "Come on. Let's get to work. We have to collect the scales now."
They gathered the scales and went up to the surface to sow them together. And to their surprise, Snotlout was able to sow the scales together with ease.
"That's amazing. You're almost done already. And Snotlout, your workmanship..." Hiccup complimented.
"My mother taught me everything I know." Snotlout said pridefully with a smirk.
"Well, if this works, remind me to thank her. All right, next step, find those Dragon Hunters." Hiccup said, taking out his map.
For about an hour or so, Hiccup, Mira, and Snotlout were able to find the hunter's ships. And their dragons were wearing the Screaming Death's scales like an armor. And because the Screaming Death's hide is so strong, nothing can penetrate it, not even Dragon Root Arrows.
"Hiccup, as far as worst plans go, this has to be, by far, your best worst plan ever." Snotlout said.
"Uh, I'll take that as a compliment." Hiccup said to Snotlout.
"Hunter ships, down ahead!" Mira pointed out.
"I see them! Get ready, bud!" Hiccup said to his Night Fury.
And with that they attacked the ships. And thanks to the Screaming Death scales, the arrows have no effects on them. They destroyed some ships and the giant crossbows, and soon reinforcements came Kishi (in Mor's form) took down the ships with X and an incredibly angry Stoker. Stoker hated Dragon Hunters, and boy he is showing his hate by setting the ships on fire. Even though they have reinforcement, they still needed to figure out to free the riders, but suddenly Toothless's armor was loose.
"Your armor's loose!" Snotlout exclaims. "I knew I should have used a lock stitch, not a cross stitch! Stupid, Snotlout, stupid! Oh, mom's gonna be so disappointed in me!"
"Let's hope it holds. Now, take out those two support ships." Hiccup ordered.
And with that, they took down the support ships with ease. Although, they almost got shot by a boulder that was fired on a catapult and it was launched by none other than Edgar the Insane. Edgar was yelling at Hiccup to come down and fight him, but Hiccup wasn't having none of that as he and the others kept firing on a safe distance. They bought enough time for the other riders to escape with their dragons. And to Hiccup surprise, Heather and Windshear were there with them.
"Heather?" Hiccup spoke in surprise.
"Hey, Hiccup." Heather greeted almost out of breath.
"How…how did you-"
"It's a long story, but I was heading my way to Berserker Island when they ambushed me." Heather explained to him.
"By the way, did I see Edgar on that ship? Is he with the Dragon Hunters?" Hiccup questions.
"Eeyup!" Ruff exclaims.
"Hiccup, we have a lot to talk about." Astrid said to Hiccup seriously.
"Screaming Death armor? Yeah, makes sense. Thickest scales of any dragon." Fishlegs explained, observing the armor on Hookfang.
"Woo! Excellent workmanship." Ruff complimented.
"Ugh, I don't know. I'm surprised you didn't use a lockstitch." Tuff said about the poor sewing skills.
"I'll use it right now on your mouth!" Snotlout threatened Tuffnut.
"Hey, it did the trick." Hiccup said with a smile.
"It looks heavy. Maybe we should try a set made out of Gronckle iron, now that I have the formula." Fishlegs said proudly.
"Well, we might need to do just that. I'm pretty sure we've not seen the last of the Dragon Hunters." Hiccup said seriously.
Mira turns back to the flaming ships with a pang of worry. She remembers that her father was a dragon hunter, her birth father. She fears that he could be on those boats. She had a feeling of dread that she hopes that she never encounters her father.
After they brought Heather to Berserker Island, they all returned to the Edge, preparing their defenses. Luckily, thanks to Fishlegs, they got the formula for Gronckle Iron. He contacted Gobber about the formula and Blacksmith sailed all the way here to see for himself. Fishlegs and Hiccup prepared the Gronckle Iron and made a Gronckle Iron test dummy. When Gobber came, they prepared the test of the Gronckle Iron.
"Are you sure you've got the recipe right?" Gobber asked Fishlegs.
Fishlegs nodded with a proud smile. "Of course I'm sure, three parts limestone..."
Hookfang swoops down with Snotlout on his back as the Monstrous Nightmare blasts at the dummy while Snotlout cheers. "WHOO-HOO-HOO-HOO!"
"Yeah, three parts limestone..." Gobber repeated with a smile as he and Fishlegs slap hands.
"Uh-huh!"
Then Hiccup riding Toothless came flying through the sky, charging at the Gronckle Iron dummy. "Give it all you've got, bud!" Hiccup ordered as Toothless releases a plasma blast, sending the metal dummy flying. Fishlegs and Gobber watched happily as the iron dummy was up in the air.
"Two parts sandstone..."
"Sandstone, check."
The dummy crashed on the ground with no dents on it, much to Fishlegs and Gobber's joy, as they both high five each other.
"One-part iron ore...uh-huh, a down low!"
"Yeah-heh..."
"And now...the secret ingredient..." Fishlegs added with a grin on his face. They both watched as Barf and Belch stomp on the metal Viking, trying to destroy it but to no avail.
"One giant spoon of cooled and hardened Gronckle lava!" Fishlegs said happily as Barf and Belch play tug-o-war with the Viking, and Ruffnut joins in, biting on the other part of the iron dummy. While she dangles in the air, the Zippleback were pulling the dummy, trying to break it.
"Gronckle lava, of course!" Gibber exclaims in pure joy.
Meatlug spits up Gronckle lava and Fishlegs gestured it proudly. "Voila! You have Gronckle Iron!"
"Alright, let's see how your Gronckle Iron holds up against a close-range spine shot." Astrid challenged with a smirk, gesturing her Deadly Nadder.
Fishlegs made a kind gesture. "Be our guest."
"Stormfly, spines!" Astrid points to the metal Viking.
Stormfly squawks and charged at the dummy with her spines ready. But the Deadly Nadder didn't notice Tuffnut-who looked messed up with plants on his helmet and bruises-as he suddenly appears into the arena muttering the words giant, furry, and teeth. As he limps through the arena, Stormfly charges towards the dummy and Tuffnut without stopping. Hiccup spotted Tuff as he was close at the dummy. And realizes Stormfly is about to hurt Tuffnut.
"Tuff, no!" Hiccup yelled out.
Astrid saw this and tried to stop her dragon, but Stormfly was too close and took the shot. The spikes hit the metal Viking and just barely missed Tuffnut's head by an inch. Tuff, who was unfazed by this, turns to them in relief.
"Thank Loki, you guys are not gonna believe what just happened to me, it was-" He was cut off when the metal Viking fell on him, hard. The others run up to help him as Tuffnut mutters out. "We'll talk in a little bit..."
After getting Tuffnut out of the dummy, Jon started patching him up as Thorston explained his story of how he got hurt in the first place. Everyone was at the clubhouse with Gobber, the Human-Dragon Hybrids, and Kishi as they heard Tuff's make-believe tale.
"There I was: me, and my inner Nut."
"Tuff, what happened out there?" Hiccup asked in concern.
"And please, take your time." Stoker said sarcastically, checking his claws as he leans at the door frame.
"Stoker, be nice." Melody said to her caretaker, holding Zale as he sat on her lap, nobbling his tiny claws.
Stoker scoffed a bit and placed both of his claws behind his head as he rested at the door frame while Tuffnut began telling his tale on how he got injured. "It was dark. So dark, Hiccup." He said, placing a hand on Hiccup's shoulder and then dramatically pulls him close. "Not even the moon to light my merry way. And then all of a sudden, out of the darkness. Red eyes! Ferocious teeth! A growl that could peel the beak off a chicken!" He explains while dramatically gesturing the features of the creature's looks.
Then Chicken started clucking to him warningly, as if she were offended by the last part. "Sorry, metaphor." Tuff apologized before grabbing Chicken and started shaking her. "It grabbed me, and tossed me around like a rag doll, a very handsome rag doll. And then, it left me for dead."
As Tuff placed Chicken down, Fishlegs then asked. "Tuffnut, can you tell us anything else about what attacked you?"
"It was far too fast, too...cagey, too...quick, give me another adjective." Tuff said to the group.
"Ooh, how about, "imaginary"?" Snotlout stated.
The others, minus Stoker, laughed in agreement, thinking that it could be Tuff's pranks again, trying to scare them again. Tuffnut was annoyed that no one believed him. But he showed them something that would change their minds.
"Laugh and guffaw, if you must, but would an imaginary beast give you one of THESE?" Tuff shows his arm which has a red bite mark on it. Chicken approaches it, inspects it, and then bawks at it.
The group looked at each other worriedly, thinking that this could be serious, before they decided to investigate the bite mark. Well, Fishlegs is since he has all the notes of every dragon that they encounter. Fishlegs was trying his best to find out what bit Tuffnut, but nothing.
"Ugh, there's nothing anywhere that matches this, the Book of Dragons, Bork's papers, even the Dragon Eye." Fishlegs said to the group as they were at the fire while Gobber was picking his ear with his good hand.
"Hm, it won't be any of those." Gobber said as he pulled out a huge earwax out from his ear and flicked off.
"Gobber?" Hiccup asked in confusion.
"It's obvious we're all thinking the same thing." Gobber said to the group.
"Well, I can pretty much guarantee we're not." Hiccup said.
"You clearly have no sense in your explanation, Gobber." X added.
"But why don't you tell us what you're thinking, Gobber." Hiccup said to the Blacksmith.
Gobber looked at everyone seriously before finally speaking. "Lycanwing."
"Ly-what?" Joe asked in confusion.
"The Lycanwing dragon is a rare beast, and a vicious one at that. Those who survive its bite are not actually survivors at all. They are doomed to a life as half-man, half-Lycanwing. At the height of every full moon, the condemned Viking transforms into a terrifying dragon! Wings the size of a house, teeth stronger than Gronckle Iron! And a thirst...for blood." Gobber explains to them dramatically.
Tuffnut yells in fear. Stoker scoffed at Gobber's tale as leans over a wall with arms crossed. X was sitting beside Stoker as he raised a brow towards Gobber, clearly stating that Gobber might be over exaggerating. Mira glanced over them curiously, wondering if they knew something.
"Tuff, the Lycanwing is a legend! It's not a real dragon! Gobber, have you ever seen a Lycanwing?"
"No..." Gobber answered.
"Has anyone on Berk ever seen a Lycanwing?"
Snotlout and Fishlegs look at each other. Hiccup looks around the room before noticing Joe and Jon secretly pointing at X and Stoker, who was giving them a death glare, but Hiccup shook his head, indicating that Human-Dragon hybrids don't count.
"Not that I can recall." Gobber said.
"I rest my case." Hiccup said in relief.
"But the stories...oooh! They'll straighten the hair on a curly-haired yak!" Gobber said with a grin.
"Oh, no." X did a facepalm.
Outside, Gobber was holding a torch and Snotlout and the twins sitting in front of him. Stoker was sitting on the grass floor with X, Melody, Harmony, and the J Twins. Mira took Zale to bed with Betty, so he won't have to listen to this story.
"His name was…Kessler!" Gobber exclaims, zooming into Snotlout's face.
"That's a weird name!" Snotlout said in fear.
Gobber moved away with a nod. "Weird kid. Bright red hair, eyes as black as night! Naughty as a Nadder in a chicken coop."
"That's seriously naughty. Am I right?" Tuffnut said to Chicken before holding up three fingers. "High-three!" However, Chicken just stared at him blankly, not doing anything. "Heh, never mind."
"Why am I even here?" Stoker mutters in annoyance, he'd rather go to sleep than listening to Gobber's story.
"One-night, little Kessler, against his parents' wishes, went exploring in the forest. Days went by no sign of him. Only a faraway scream, coming from the woods. The little bugger never returned." Gobber said sadly before he turned around and quickly scared the gang, except X and Stoker, who was staring at Gobber blankly.
"AHHH! Or did he?! Every year from then on, when little Kessler's birthday rolled around, a red, black-eyed dragon would fly over his parents' house and pluck one of their sheep right out of the paddock! The dragon would look back, taunting them." Gobber said seriously, looking at them before casually saying. "BUUUT I wouldn't worry, Tuffnut, you're not exhibiting any symptoms."
"Hey, hey, hey, can we really say for sure what our pal Tuffnut is exhibiting?" Snotlout asked, with a mischievous smile. "C'mon Gobster, lay em' on us! Just for the sake of argument."
Ruffnut glared at Snotlout. "I don't think that's a good idea, Snotlout."
"Oh, no. Here we go." Stoker said before lying on his side to sleep. "Wake me up after the whole craziness is over." He told X.
Gobber then began explaining the symptoms. "Well first off, you'd be looking at sensitivity to light."
"Aren't you always that it hurts your head when you look into the sun?" Snotlout questions Tuffnut.
Tuffnut thinks about and realizes it. "Yeah...I did say that." Tuffnut then proceeded blinking strangely before staring into the embers that were close by. He quickly recoils from the brightness of it. "Ah!"
"Unquenchable thirst..."
Tuffnut started gasping and rasping dramatically while licking his fingers. The J Twins, Melody, and Harmony watched in awkwardness while X was pinching the bridge of his nose, finding it annoying that Tuff thinks he's turning into a dragon. Stoker, on the other hand, simply sleeps it off, ignoring the whole ordeal.
"You look thirsty." Snotlout said teasingly before Ruffnut smacks Snotlout's face away from Tuffnut.
"Hey! He always looks thirsty!" Ruff defended her brother before facepalming when Snotlouta asked Gobber to continue.
"What else, Gobber? There's gotta be more than that."
"Fidgety arms, on account of the wings starting to sprout." Gobber listed out the other side effects.
Suddenly, Tuffnut's arms start fidgeting and twitching about, one slapping Ruffnut in the face, causing her to yelp as she falls backwards. The other twins winced at the sight while X shook his head.
"Watch it, would ya?" Ruff said in annoyance as she got up
"Geez, sorry. I'm fidgety..." Tuff answered almost fearfully while Snotlout snickers at this.
"What else? What else?" Snotlout asked Gobber for more.
"Finally, the overwhelming desire to eat fresh fish." Gobber finished.
Then Tuffnut suddenly runs over to Barf and Belch, who are feeding from a trough full of fish. Tuffnut dunks his head in and starts eating like crazy, surprising the two-headed dragon.
"Yeck, tastes terrible!" Tuff yelled as he ran out of the scene.
The J Twins, Melody, Harmony, and X stared at Tuff's leaving form before looking at each other and then to Gobber with a really confused look with the others while Snotlout was laughing hysterically.
"Ahahaha! How awesome was that? What an idiot." Snotlout said with a mischievous grin.
Ruffnut glared at him. "You have no idea what you've done!" She said to him angrily, which he wasn't fazed with.
Later, inside the clubhouse, Mira was making dinner for everyone. It's lamb chops as everyone eats their meal before going to be. Sapphire, Toothless, and Virgo were inside the clubhouse, enjoying the meal that Mira prepared for them. Then they heard Tuffnut coming in with a wheelbarrow and in it were his belongings. Everyone, minus some of them, looked at Tuffnut in confusion.
"Uhhh...Tuffnut? What are you doing?" Hiccup asked in confusion.
Tuffnut sighs sadly before he stops in front of Snotlout and takes out his mace. "I give you Macey. Hold her dearly, she likes sitting by the window, looking at the moon...the full moon. Ha! The irony." He explained sadly as he hands Snotlout Macey.
"Oh my, Thor. That's so thoughtful." Snotlout said sarcastically before he tossed Macey behind him when Tuff moved away. Stoker glanced at X with an annoyed and somewhat confused look while X simply shrugged at him. Tuffnut came over to then came over the Ingerman. "Fishlegs. I give you my favorite bowl." Tuff said as he handed Fishlegs a bowl but upon further investigation, Fishlegs saw the design had flowers and a picture of Meatlug on it.
"Hey, that's my bowl!" Fishlegs exclaims in annoyance and anger.
Tuff pats Fishlegs's shoulder. "And now, now you've found it. Eat well, my friend. Eat well."
Tuff made his way to Stoker. "Stoker, my fire brethren."
"I never see you as my brother, ever." Stoker said to him rudely.
"It doesn't matter now, here. My favorite blanket. Even though you can keep yourself warm, this blanket will make you even warmer." Tuff said, handing him the blanket that smelled like something had died.
Annoyed and disgusted, Stoker tosses the blanket out of the clubhouse, not wanting to own it. Then Tuff made his way to the Haddock. "Hiccup, Hiccup, Hiccup. What do you give the man who has everything? Here." Tuffnut grabs Ruffnut and hands her over to Hiccup.
"Hey, you can't give me away!" Ruff exclaims in annoyance.
"In time, she'll come to you. She's going to take this very hard and will most certainly go through a prolonged morning period. She's gonna need a new twin brother." He explained, which made things even more confusing and awkward for Hiccup. "I nominate you. It's a terrible job and she smells horrible. You'll have to dress like me and grow your hair long, so there are perks."
As he lets go of Ruffnut, who sits back down, Hiccup finally broke the ice of confusion. "Alright, alright! What did I miss?"
"I'm just..." Tuff sighs sadly. "Preparing myself."
"For what?" Astrid asked in confusion.
"Yeah, I'm with Astrid, here." Mira said agreement with Astrid.
"Have you seen that moon?" He gestured the waxing gibbous moon. "It rises to its apex, which I think is a word that means the tip-top. I'm going full dragon, Tuffnut Lycanwing." Tuff explained dramatically.
"…I'm sorry, what?" Mira asked in confusion.
"Ahaha!" Snotlout laughs at Tuffnut's antiques, before the male Thorston comes to his face.
"You're a funny guy, Snotlout. I'll eat you first..." Tuffnut said threateningly before moving away while making growling noises, which scared Snotlout a bit.
"Tuff, we went over this. The Lycanwing is a myth, it's not real, you're not turning into a dragon! Fishlegs, X, Stoker, will you guys please tell him?" Hiccup asked his friend.
"Uhuhuh? Hmm..." Fishlegs spoke awkwardly, clearly has no answer for this.
"Leave me out of this conversation." Stoker said rudely before taking a bite on his mutton.
"Honestly, I am not sure if it's true or not." X said with a shrug.
"Now, I must go and say my most difficult goodbye of all, if you'll excuse me." Tuff excused himself from the group while Sapphire, Virgo, and Toothless watched him leave in confusion. Virgo the Light Fury croons in confusion towards her fellow Furies, who warble in response, saying it isn't everyday that they have to deal with Tuff's shenanigans. Suddenly Snotlout bursts out into a fit of laughter, finding it hilarious. Until he stopped when an angry Ruffnut marched over to him.
"What did I tell you? WHAT DID I TELL YOU?!" She yelled at Jorgenson, scaring him as she pointed at his face with her index finger. "YOU are gonna help me fix this, Snotlout! YOU HEAR ME?!"
After Ruffnut's outburst towards Snotlout, she walks away angrily, leaving a wary and confused group, except Stoker-he was busy scraping something out of his teeths.
"Wow, they can really get riled up, huh?" Snotlout said to the group, which earned an angry grunt from Hiccup.
Tuffnut was at the stables with Barf and Belch. There, he was saying his final goodbye. Although, the Zippleback was confused on what's going on. I mean, they heard from Toothless that Tuffnut was going to turn into a dragon…which is strange since they don't smell any changes in Tuff's body.
"Barf, Belch. My winged brothers! I'll see you in the friendly skies. Who knows, maybe we'll slide down a rainbow together." Tuff said sadly before he walks away while Barf and Belch rumble in confusion and Chicken squawks at Tuffnut.
"OK, you ready?" Tuff asked Chicken as they walked into the stables, leaving Barf and Belch looking at each other, wondering what's going on. Tuffnut inspected one of the stables. "Hm, this should work. Good view, got good ventilation, gotta keep the others safe from me when I turn."
Tuffnut closes the door of the stable. He sits down while Chicken jumps beside him, clucking at him. Tuff looked at Chicken sadly. "I feel you, my animal brother." Tuff said as he inhales deeply and sighs. "My last night as me, for tomorrow, at this time, alas, I shall no longer be human." Tuffnut then picks Chicken up and holds her up. "I will be Tuffnut, Lycanwing! Killing-Machine!"
As Tuffnut hugs Chicken next to his face, he started making strange eating noises, like he was turning. Though he wasn't aware that Joe, Jon, Melody, and Harmony were outside of the stable, leaning over the opening, as they stared at Tuffnut in confusion.
"Is…is he going to be okay?" Harmony asked.
"Depends. If we can try and figure out if this Lycanwing curse is real or not." Joe stated.
"And I know who can help us." Jon said with a grin.
"I know what ya thinking, bro. We can ask them." Joe agrees with his twin.
"Who's they?" Melody and Harmony asked in confusion.
"We'll explain the situation, follow us!" Joe said as he and his brother zipped away, followed by the girls.
The boys brought Melody and Harmony to a secret underground cover where the J Twins and Mira would visit their nine aunts. They would help them with information and advice from them, and this case. Telling them if the Lycanwing dragon is real or not. Their aunts were there as if they were expecting them. Though they were curious about the new arrivals, aka Melody and Harmony, as the two brothers made the introductions. For some reason, their nine aunts seemed interested in meeting the new female human/dragon hybrid.
"Hello, Aunties." Joe and Jon greeted them kindly.
"Hello, Joe, Jon." Kolga greeted with a smile.
"What brings you two here with your new friends?" Himinglava asked curiously, looking at Melody and Harmony happily.
"Well, we need your help." Jon said, getting their nine aunts' attention. "You see, one of our friends named Tuffnut Thorston…yeah, he was bitten by an unknown dragon called a Lycanwing and he thinks…"
"And he thinks that he is turning to a dragon, correct?" Blódughadda said with a matter of fact tone.
"Y-Yeah, is it possible that if a…you know, a Lycanwing is real or not?" Joe asked.
"So, is it-" Jon was cut off by Hrönn.
"Oh, the Lycanwing is real all right." She said to them.
"Wait, what?! It is?!" Both Joe and Jon exclaimed in shock.
"Yes, but it does not come here." Blódughadda said to them calmly.
"What?" The four teens asked in confusion.
That's when Kolga started explaining. "You see, children, the Lycanwing is a solitude dragon. It isn't fond of humans. And there is no possibility that one might have come to the Edge, it would simply move away."
"So, what you're saying is that a Lycanwing is real, but it didn't come to the Edge, right?" Jon theorized.
Bara nodded. "Indeed."
"But how come?" Jon asked.
That's when Kolga began the tale of a Lycanwing. "You see, before all of you were born, there was a Dragon God known as Draco. He created all the dragons in the Norse Region. And the Lucanwing was one of his creations."
"Really?!" Joe and Jon exclaimed in shock.
"But how come Draco made it and used it as a curse?" Melody asked.
That's when Blódughadda comes in. "It was not Deaco's doing, it was that slimy snake, Loki, who did it." She answered in an angry tone.
"What do you mean?" Harmony asked in confusion.
"You see, the Lycanwing was meant to be a guardian dragon for your mother, Kelda. Lord Draco became fond of her as if she was his own child. And decided to make a gift for her." Duva said with a sad smile.
"But of course, Loki-being a God of Mischief-decided to use it for HIS personal amusement." Blódughadda stated blankly as she crossed her arms. "That snake stole Draco's creation and used it as a curse on an unexpected Viking, turning him into a Lycanwing."
"That was a cruel prank." Harmony said.
"It was. And not only did that Trickster God steal from Draco, but he also basically cursed a human with no crime against the gods!" Blódughadda said irritatedly.
"And then what happened?" Joe asked.
"After Odin found out about this, he punished Loki dearly for stealing the Lycanwing from Draco. Though the condemned Viking had to live his life as a Lycanwing and steered cleared from any villages that have humans." Kolga finished.
The J Twins were amazed by this tale. They thought that the Lycanwing was just a story that Gobber told was just a myth, but it seems that it was real. But they wonder about something. If the Lycanwing is an isolated dragon, what bite Tuffnut? They'll figure out once they investigate further, they thanked their aunts before they left the cove with Melody and Harmony while their aunts watched them leave.
"Those two make great wives for our nephews." Himinglava said happily.
"Agreed." All the other sisters agreed with Himinglava.
On the next day, Gobber came in to check on Tuffnut, seeing if there were any changes in the Thorston's head (which there was nothing there), trying to convince to Tuff to come out, but no avail. The Blacksmith came out of the stables with a sigh. He looked over to the group. The Riders (except Fishlegs, Snotlout, and Ruffnut) and the Human/Dragon hybrids were there and were waiting for some results.
"Well, I did my best. He's not talking to anyone but that chicken." Gobber said, pointing behind at him as they could see Tuff from afar. "And he's convinced the moon didn't apex last night, so it must be tonight."
"Talk to me, Chicken. Talk to me. What did they say? What are they saying?" Tuff said in a paranoid tone.
The group stared at Tuff in confusion. Stoker, who had his arms crossed, simply shrugged his shoulders. "Well, it seems that there's nothing we can do but accept the fact that Tuffnut has lost his mind yet again."
Hiccup sighs in annoyance as he agreed in a sarcastic tone. "Well that's great."
Suddenly they heard something from the sky. They turned around and saw Hookfang appearing in the sky, which surprised the group, even Stoker.
"Is that...?" Astrid began.
Hiccup squinted his eyes and saw the female Thorston riding on Hookfang. "Ruffnut...flying Hookfang?" The Chief heir spoke in confusion.
"That's new." Jon said.
"Where's Snotlout?" Astrid asked.
"Yeah, wasn't he taking Hookfang for a flight a few hours ago?" Mira added.
Gobber looks closely and points out to them. "There he is. Big lump behind her. Tear-stained face." He described how he saw Snotlout lying behind Ruffnut and appeared to be crying in pain.
"Yikes, what has Ruffnut did to him?" Joe asked curiously.
They all backed away as Hookfang came closer to land but crash-landed since he was going too fast. And both Ruff and Snotlout fell for him.
"Oh, rough one." Ruff said happily as she stood up.
To show his anger, Hookfang blows steam at Ruffnut angrily, startling in the process, and lumbers away while Ruff gives him an annoyed look. Snotlout groans in pain in the sudden impact.
"What are you two doing? We could use you right about now." Hiccup said.
"And there better be a good explanation." Stoker said in annoyance as he stood beside X and Mira.
"We've been gathering samples." Ruff answered to them.
"Samples of what?" Astrid asked.
To explain, Ruffnut shows Snotlout's arm, and the group recoils in shock and disgust with yelps, except for Stoker. He just simply stared at the arm blankly. Snotlout's arm has a different variety of bitemarks. And it needs to be patched up.
"Are those dragon bites?" Mira asked in shock and disturbed.
"Yup. One of these has to match Tuff's and convince him that this Lycanwing deal is just another one of his paranoid fantasies." Ruffnut explained to them.
"Aaand...why is Snotlout...?" Hiccup was cut off by Ruffnut.
"He started this stupid thing with his impressive yet sinister powers of suggestion." Ruff said angrily as she lets go of Snotlout's arm roughly, making whine in pain, but not before he elbowed him hard, making him groan. "It's all Snotlout's fault my dopey brother thinks he's turning into a dragon."
As Snotlout groans, the riders and human/hybrids agreed to her statement. Stoker found it amusing to see how Snotlout got what he deserved, it was fun and painful to enjoy.
"Ruff, maybe I should check on his wounds? They look pretty bad." Jon suggested.
"Yes, please-" Snotlout was cut off when Ruff smacked Jorgenson on the head. "OW!"
"No! Until we figure out what's the dragon bite, he is NOT getting any treatment until we finish this!" Ruffnut said sternly.
"…Well looks like you're in this one, Snotlout." Hiccup said as he has nothing to do to stop this.
"Have fun then." Stoker said casually.
"Not so funny now, is IT?!" Ruff said to him threateningly.
"No, Ruffnut. Not funny at all." Snotlout whines as she grabs Snotlout's arm and drags him away. "Let's go, pal."
As Ruffnut drags a groaning Snotlout, the others watch them leave while shaking their heads. Though Joe had to make a mental note to prepare more healing ointment for Snotlout's wounds. Just then, Fishlegs and Meatlug came from the sky as the Ingerman had exciting news that he had discovered.
"Hiccup, Hiccup! Oooh, you're not going to believe this! I was at my wit's end, trying to think of something, anything, that could help with this, when my perfect little angel crushed my desk, and looked at what I found!" Fishlegs then shows a new Dragon Eye Lens. "It's the one you found in the caves with Gustav! I've been meaning to give it back to you, Hiccup. I'm usually not so irresponsible with priceless artifacts."
"Fishlegs, we have got to go see what's on it!" Hiccup said while Astrid rolled her eyes.
When Hiccup and Fishlegs left, Joe and Jon went over to their sister. "Hey, Mira. We need to talk." Joe began.
"What is it?" Mira asked.
"It's about…the Lycanwing." Jon whispered.
Mira looked at them and nodded. They along with the Human/Dragon Hybrids and Astrid went to the forest that was far from the others. Kishi was there with Betty and Zale, who were napping in his arms, wanting to know about the situation. Joe and Jon began the explanation one what their aunts told them about the Lycanwing.
"So, let me get this straight…" Stoker began, pinching the bridge of his nose, before removing it and outstretching his claw. "The Lycanwing…is real?"
Joe and Jon nodded. "Yes."
"Greatttt…just what we need, a Lycawing Tuffnut." Stoker said sarcastically.
"But here's the thing, Tuff isn't turning into one." Jon added, getting everyone's attention. "Our Aunts told us that a Lycanwing is a solitude dragon. It wouldn't dare go to any villages."
"And whatever bitten Tuff is something else." Joe added.
"So, we're dealing with an animal of some kind, correct?" X asked.
"Yeah, but the question is, what?" Jon stated.
"How about we investigate where Tuffnut was attacked." Astrid said to them. "X, Stoker, you two should help Hiccup and Fishlegs while the rest of us find out what caused Tuff's bite."
"Oh, gods." Stokers sighs in annoyance.
"Come on." X said before they took off to the sky and headed towards Hiccup's hut.
"Okay, we need to find the area where Tuffnut was attacked." Astrid said.
"And we know who to ask." Joe and Jon both said unison.
Smidvarg the White Night Terror roars as he sits on top of a rock. The group went to him since Smidvarg and his pack are nocturnal. He told them that some of his pack members heard Tuffnut's screaming a few nights ago at the east side of the island. They went to the spot where Tuff was and both Melody and Harmony could smell Tuff's scent here. But also, something else. They couldn't figure out what it is since it was near a mint bush that caused it to mix the scent.
"So far, we can indicate that Tuff was here, but we can't tell what animal attacked him." Melody explained.
"Well, we better keep searching some more before the sun goes down." Astrid said, referring to the setting sun.
Just then, Festivia the Serenade Wing came and landed in front of them with a gentle hiss. "Hello, Festivia. What brings you here?"
Festivia made small hisses as she explained to them about Snotlout passing out at the Edge. "She said Snotlout passed out at the Edge after Ruffnut made him collect samples of dragon bites and…a sea snake bite?"
"Aren't Sea Snakes, you know, poisonous?" Joe stated out.
Jon sighs before getting on Thunder. "They are. And I have to go there to give him the antidote before venom kills him."
"We'll meet you back home, Jon. Good luck." Joe said to his brother. Jon nodded before Thunder took off to the Edge, preparing to give Snotlout the antidote.
Meanwhile, at Hiccup's hut, Stoker was leaning at the doorway with his arms crossed while X stood beside him as they both watched Hiccup and Fishlegs work on the Dragon Eye that has a new dragon lens. They were trying to figure out how to light it up, but so far, nothing seems to be working.
"Ugh, well that's it! That's every combination I can think of." Fishlegs said with a grumble as he puts down the Dragon Eye.
"This is a waste of my time." Stoker said as he turned around and was about to leave, but suddenly, with the moon's light, the Dragon Eye started to emit the projection. Hiccup saw this and quickly called out to them.
"Wait, wait, wait! I see something!" Hiccup said, getting the other's attention before turning to Toothless. "Let's try this. Toothless?"
Upon hearing his name Toothless stretched his body before he lazily made his way to the Dragon Eye before lighting it up as it revealed a projection shown on the wall. It revealed an image of a man with dragon wings.
"Now am I crazy, or is that a man with dragon wings instead of arms?" Hiccup said worriedly.
"You aren't crazy..." Fishlegs said as he turned a dial to change the scene. "And there he is again, with a tail to go with the wings…Hiccup?"
Hiccup notices the inscription. "Can you make out what this says?"
Fishlegs reads out the words. "No man shall tread on these shores lest he become what he is most feared. That must be Lycanwing Island."
"It's real," X said softly.
"And that, my friend, is why we always listen to Gobber." Hiccup added.
"Hiccup, this Lycanwing, it could be, well, not a myth." Fishlegs said worriedly.
"Please don't tell me we're actually dealing with a Lycanwing curse?" Stoker said in annoyance.
"That island's not far from here." Hiccup said with a knowing smile.
Fishlegs became worried. "Why do I get the feeling we're going on a little Hiccup-Fishlegs recon mission?"
"Don't worry, Fishlegs. Stoker and I will be there." X said.
Stoker gave him a look. "Seriously?"
"Yes, seriously." X said sternly before he drags the Monstrous Nightmare human hybrid out of the hut and to the stables.
"Ok, guys. If we do happen to run across a Lycanwing, we need to have a really good plan." Hiccup said as they walked into the stables to bring Meatlug out, who started playing with Toothless.
"How about, "don't get bitten?" That sounds like a good one to me." Fishlegs said before X brings over Voltage the Skrill.
"…Yup, me too. Ok, Lycanwing Island, here we come."
Hiccup and the others leave the stables and headed towards the destination. Unaware that Tuffnut watching from his stable, hearing everything while Chicken was sitting on his head. He didn't believe the whole Lycanwing thing since he was trying to mess with them. But now, hearing that Lycanwing Island is real, Tuff began to think that he's really turning into a Lycanwing.
Meanwhile, Hiccup, Fishlegs, X, and Stoker were heading towards Lycanwing Island to investigate it. As they landed, they went towards a big cave. There, Toothless shot a plasma blast to create light to the cave, but causing a bunch of bats to fly out, much to Fishlegs displeasure.
"Let's go, Fishlegs. Don't worry. We'll be right next to you the whole time." Hiccup assured as he and the others entered the cave carefully. The venture deeper through the cave before they discovered old cave drawings. This made Fishlegs even more scared.
"'Beware the beast. Turn back before you become him. Your fate is sealed!' Did you hear that, Hiccup?! Our fate is sealed!" Fishlegs said fearfully as he read the writings on the wall.
"Fishlegs, we're fine. It's just an old cave drawing." Hiccup said, trying to assure his friend.
"I can't believe we're gonna die chasing an imaginary dragon." Fishlegs mumbled.
"You're going to die since me and X are half dragons, we can handle an imaginary dragon." Stoker said.
"Not helping, Stoker.
Suddenly, they heard Toothless growling as he was facing up ahead. They followed his gaze and gasped to see a shadow of a dragon. Fishlegs began to panic and wanted to leave as he closed his eyes, fearing the worst, but nothing happened. Toothless fire a plasma blast to the ceiling to create light That's when Hiccup spotted something.
"Look, it's eyes..." Hiccup began.
"I am not looking into that thing's eyes; do you know me?!" Fishlegs said fearfully as he still covered his eyes.
"Fishlegs! Would you just look?" Hiccup said.
Fishlegs opened his eyes and turned to Hiccup and saw him standing in front of a statue along with X, Stoker, and their dragons. What's more surprising is that the statue has Dragon Eye lenses for eyes.
"Hiccup, are those..."
Hiccup removed one of the lenses from the statue. "Dragon Eye lenses..."
"Whoever put them there, wanted people to be away from them." Stoker said with a growl.
"And used the Lycanwing myth to keep people away." X added and looked over to Hiccup. "We have to tell Tuff, now."
Nodding, they all left the cave and took off to the sky, heading back to Berk as fast as they could. Unaware that a pair of silver eyes were watching them from afar, hidden beneath the tree lined.
Upon their return, they saw Gobber at the stables, closing the doors, chuckling. They landed in front of the Blacksmith as Hiccup and Fishlegs got off their dragons and went over to him.
"Gobber, how's Tuff doing?" Hiccup asked with concern.
"Gone. He and the Chicken flew the coop last night, said something about taking flight off the tallest cliff when he went "full dragon"." Gobber quotes.
"You didn't try to stop him?" Hiccup said in somewhat disappointment.
"I was a bit busy." Gobber said.
"Doing what?" Fishlegs asked.
Gobber took out a tool with a sharp needle. "Extracting sea snake venom from Snotlout. You should have heard him. He sounded like a yak being turned inside out."
"Well, we better go tell Ruffnut." Hiccup suggested.
"Gone too. Went to go look for her brother. She seemed to think whether he was a dragon or not he wouldn't survive "the flight." Dragged Snotlout with her before Jon could give him the antidote. Personally, I'm surprised he made the trip. The boy's not looking so well."
This made the males look at Gobber in disturbance, how can Snotlout survive that? But there's no point in guessing that. Right now, they have to find Tuff and stop him from doing anything crazy. Gobber told them that Astrid, Mira, and the others were searching for Tuff too and trying to find a way to stop his shenanigans. They quickly took off and were able to find them at the beach. They told them everything and they quickly went on the search for them.
"Have you seen Ruff and Snotlout anywhere?" Mira asked as they zoomed through the sky.
"No, they went after Tuff and tried to convince him that he's not turning to a dragon." Hiccup said to them.
"Well, we better hurry, we need to stop Tuffnut and give Snotlout the antidote for the Sea Snake bite." Jon explained.
"What happens if he doesn't?" Stoker asked.
"Since Gobber didn't fully extract the venom out of Snotlout, he'll probably suffer from nausea, vomiting, temporary blindness, aching bones, fainting, hallucination…" Jon listed out.
"We get, Jon. We'll find him and Tuffnut." Hiccup said before they continued the search.
Suddenly, they heard strange howling, from a distance. Looking at each other, the group went to the direction and saw Tuffnut at a ledge, howling at the full moon with Chicken. Tuffnut was going to jump at the edge of the cliff, but Ruffnut was there to prevent it. Trying to convince her brother to not jump off a cliff.
"It's too late to stop the metamorphosis, can you not see what I've become? MEHEHEHE!" Tuff yelled.
"Tuff, stop!" Hiccup said quickly as he and the others quickly landed on the ground and stopped Tuff from jumping off the cliff. "There is no metamorphosis, alright? You are not turning into a dragon. Fishlegs, please tell him."
"It's true! We found the cave of the Lycanwing. It was just a myth to keep people away from these!" Fishlegs showed him the two Dragon Eye lenses.
"It was all in your head, Tuff!" Mira said to him.
"No. No! I don't believe you. Look at me. I'm hideous, I'm terrifying!" Tuff said to them loudly.
"Tuff! You're not hideous!" Astrid before muttering out. "Terrifying at times, yes. Hideous? No."
"I beg to differ." Stoker mutters, earning an elbow to the arm from X.
"Well, then how do you explain THIS?" He showed them the bite mark, and no one answer to that. "Can't do it, can you, hm? That's what I thought. Now, it's time to fly!"
"Wait, wait, wait, wait!" They all heard Snotlout coming and turned towards the direction to see the male Jorgenson, who appears to have a bandage wrapped around his left eye, dragging a sack that appears to be moving. "Wait! I can explain! I can explain it!"
"Whoa, you look worse than I do." Tuff said to Snotlout.
"Uh, Snotlout? What do you have in that bag?" Hiccup asked in disturbance to hear it growling.
"I have what did THIS!" Snotlout shows the bitemark to them.
"Ah! The Lycanwing got him too. Save yourselves!" Tuff yelled in fear.
"It's not a Lycanwing. It's not even a dragon! It's a wolf. And I caught him!" Snotlout said, gesturing the moving sack that has the wolf inside.
"So, that explains the unknown bite mark." Jon said with relief.
"Huh, we explore around the island, we never notice there was a wolf here." X said.
"Maybe the wolf wandered far from his territory." Mira suggested.
"Who cares! All I know is this. Tuffnut, you're not turning into a dragon!" Snotlout exclaims.
"I'm not? I'm not!" Tuff said happily.
"That's what we've been trying to tell you." Hiccup said to him.
"Snotlout only made it up to scare you." Mira added while giving Snotlout the look.
"I just made you think that! But it's not true. It's funny, but it's not true." Snotlout said, like if he was trying to apologize.
Tuff couldn't help but smiled in relief, unaware that the ledge was breaking off. As Tuff was about to go to them, it broke off, and Tuffnut fell off with Chicken. As Tuff screamed, everyone tried to get him but Toothless and Virgo reacted quickly as they quickly grabbed both of Tuff's boots. And Tuffnut was able to grab Chicken before she fell off.
"Don't worry, buddy! I've gotchu. We're going home Chicken. We're going home." Tuff assured Chicken with relief. Both Toothless and Virgo looked at each other before they brought Tuffnut back to land.
"Oh, thank Thor." Hiccup sighs in relief.
"Good job, guys." Mira said to Virgo and Toothless, who purred happily. Sapphire raised a paw as she and Virgo did a high paw together. Then they see Ruffnut run up to Tuffnut and hug him from behind.
"Oh I know what you're gonna say, you realized how much you love me, you were scared, you were gonna lose me, and I better never do that again." Tuff said before Ruff faces him.
"Actually, I was just going to tell you what an idiot you are. Come here." She said. The twins hug. Ruffnut looks at Chicken behind Tuffnut with a small smile as she whispers. "Thank you." Earning a cluck from Chicken.
"Uh…hate to break this reunion." Jon began as everyone looked at him. "But, where's the wolf?"
Hearing this, everyone went into panic as they turned towards the sack to see it was empty, indicating that the wolf escaped. However, the wolf didn't bother the riders, dragons, and human/dragon hybrids. Instead, the wolf went after Snotlout and lunged at him, causing the Jorgenson boy to scream in pain and fear. Though as his scream echoed through the edge, everyone was not aware that a hooded figure was standing at a sea stack, close to the edge.
