Chapter 16: Depression
I haven't done a chapter with my OC suffering from depression, so it's about time I do one…especially since my depression has been at an all-time high lately…
I'll also do one with Eret, don't worry. I'm sure that guy gets depressed, too.
Takes place three months after the Small Bump and Battle Scars chapters, but about six months before HTTYD3, so Becky hasn't discovered yet that she's pregnant.
Note: Becky's pregnancy has nothing to do with her depression hitting her.
I glance at my wife, who's hardly touched her food tonight. I worriedly glance over to my brother- and sister-in-law.
"Honey, you've hardly touched your food. Are you feeling alright?"
"I just don't feel like eating…or doing anything else, for that matter." She says, not looking up.
Uh-oh. Her depression's hit.
"We're here for you if you want to talk, sis." Tuffnut says.
"Yeah. Tuff's right, Becky. When all this is over, we'll still be here, and so will you." Amalie chimes in.
"I just…I feel so alone." I put a hand on my wife's.
"You're not alone. We're here for you and we're here to listen to you and hear what you have to say, and we'll do our best to give you advice if you need it."
"Thank you…I just feel so hopeless."
"Why?"
"Because I don't feel like I'm good enough for you or pretty enough or strong enough to handle my pain or having children or dealing with Berk's enemies or…anything…"
"My darling. My dear, dear Becky. You are so good enough for me. You're more than enough for me. But you're not too much for me to handle, though, You're the perfect amount of enough and that will never, everchange. You're so beautiful, I can't stop looking at you." I nudge my sister-in-law so she can chime in, while, to prove my point, staring at my beautiful wife.
"You don't think you're strong enough? After dealing with you-know-who, banishment from Berk, giving birth to a madman's child, getting through Stoick's death. If you're not strong enough, then no one is strong enough. You are strong enough to survive all of this, and more, Becky. You're strong enough to get through anything and everything. You've got a fighting spirit that no one can touch, no matter what's thrown in your way, and we are all so proud of how far you've come, and we couldn't be prouder to be a part of your family."
"You guys really mean all of that?"
"We wouldn't have said it if it weren't true, my love."
"Thank you. I feel a little better. But I've still got a long way to go until I'm okay again." Becky says, wiping a tear from her eye.
"And we'll be there until and when you are." Tuffnut says.
"Group hug!"
And so, Amalie, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Becky and I form a group hug. Ruffnut soon breaks the hug by punching her brother in the shoulder.
We know we can get through anything, as long as we're together as a family, no matter how weird we may be.
