I love the romance dawn trio, the OG3. This drabble is in honor of them.

Summary: "I am lost without you."

Points of No Return

# 13 : Off Course

The flying slash severed the town's bar in half and decimated it… even if he tried to block the attack by sending one of his own.

The road to claiming the title of the world's strongest swordsman is on a different level when they entered the New World. Opponents were stronger, fiercer, more dangerous.

And some of them never even blinked at the thought of fighting unfair or even involving unknowing bystanders in their onslaughts.

He found Nami buried under the rubble, not moving… her face as white as alabaster, her hair a stark contrast against the cold, grey stones of the bar's remains.

And her blood… trickling down into a pool underneath her limp body.

He heard his voice gradually rising into a roar of her name as he tried to wake her up and didn't receive any response.

A lump formed in his throat. The awfully distinct smell of blood, her blood, reaching his nose, filling it.

He felt a heavy feeling sinking in his chest, down into the pit of his stomach.

He failed to protect her.

He failed her as a nakama.

Nami wake up! Come on.

He leaned down her body and buried his face into his hands.

"Where are you going Zoro? Stay put and guard the ship!"

"Why should I?"

"Because we need someone to be on the lookout! Plus you'll just get lost you stupid oaf! This island's topography will be the death of you!"

"I don't get LOST! And I don't need to listen to you. I'm fine!"

"No you're not!"

"Will you people stop saying that I always get lost! I don't!

"Maybe if you actually stop getting lost, we would!"

"You guys are the ones who keep disappearing on me!"

With a growl, he swiftly turned away from the orange-haired woman who was glaring daggers at him.

"Zoro wait! I'm coming with you! Kami knows you need someone to put a leash on you!"

"Uruse!"

Zoro felt a hand on his shoulder, pulling him away from that what took place earlier that day in the Sunny that kept replaying itself inside his mind.

He raised his head. Luffy was standing beside him. His expression serious.

"It's not your fault Zoro."

"I…"

Luffy's hand tightened its grasped on his shoulder.

"She's with me. She's my responsibility."

"Nobody's blaming you."

That made him scoff. "Shit cook begs to differ."

"He's… feeling the same as you do," Luffy removed his precious straw hat from his head.

Zoro blankly watched him.

"Hey! Where are you going?"

"Back to the ship! I wanna drink without you breathing down my neck every fucking minute!"

"Let me finish playing first!"

He didn't bother replying. Instead he sneered and left her inside the tavern in the midst of her card game.

The moment he stepped outside…

the flying slash came.

"It's not like you wanted her to get hurt Zoro," Luffy suddenly spoke, dragging him away from his thoughts again. The younger man carefully placed his treasured hat beside the sleeping Nami's hand, letting the tip of her fingers touch the worn out edges.

"I'd never…" Zoro's voice trailed off as he stared at his captain. Luffy's eyes were steady, gazing at him with unwavering trust. He exhaled sharply. "You know how we are with each other."

A smile appeared on Luffy's face and Zoro was left wondering about the profundity of his captain's trust and understanding in his friends.

"I know." Luffy reached out and grabbed Zoro's hand. "Chopper said she'll be ok." He placed Zoro's hand on top of Nami's. "Trust Nami alright? She's strong. She's not going to let this beat her."

Zoro stared intently at their hands for a moment. Warmth seemed to radiate from it.

And he understood what Luffy was trying to tell him.

What he seems to be forgetting.

Nami maybe a coward at times. She may run and hide instead of fighting an enemy head on but despite that…

She IS strong. And enduring.

She will not let something like this beat her or take her down.

Zoro managed a small smile and in a rare display of affection, he squeezed Luffy's hand.

Luffy's face brightened at that. Zoro looked so devastated earlier while Chopper was tending to Nami's injuries. He stood like a frozen statue in front of the closed infirmary door as Sanji hurled curses and kicks at him. Not once did the swordsman budged. Not once did he block the cook's attack.

He just stood there looking lost more than ever.

"You watch her for now Zoro," the rubber man ordered, tightening his grip on his friend's hand. "Captain's order!"

Zoro nodded, muttering a 'yes captain' under his breath and Luffy promptly moved to exit the room, giving Nami one last glance and a reassuring tap on Zoro's shoulder.

The green-haired man turned to look at resting navigator. Her slow yet steady breathing the only sound filling the room.

"Just be ok Nami," he whispered. "You can triple or quadruple my debt, raise it sky high, I don't care. Just be here to do it."

He bent down to rest his forehead against his hand that was still resting on top of hers.

"I am lost without you."

And her fingers moved to clasp his hand in hers.

The End –

My first angst-y ZoNa. Hopefully it's mild and toned down. Not too much drama.

R and R please.
