There were only a few moments in my life that I have ever seen Razputin Aquato not wear his famous little helmet and goggles. Sometimes, it was because of what he was wearing. Like when we were kids and Ford made him an 'official psychonaut agent' and he refused to wear his helmet because he thought it would be 'unprofessional of him' to wear it with his uniform for the first time.
Raz let out a small sigh as he pulled off his old helmet from his head. His fluffy little mop of red hair fussing about as he ruffled it with his gloved hand. He let out a little yawn before moving to take off his jacket as it was obvious the now teenager's latest mission was rather tiring on him.
Sometimes it was because he was tired.
I gave an amused look at Raz as he then waddled over toward me in a tired fashion before flopping down on the little couch I was on and placing his head on my lap. The now eighteen-year-old boy nuzzled into my thigh ever so slightly as he mumbled incoherently to himself while he took one of my free hands with his and then plopped it on his head without a second notice.
Other times, it's because he wanted his hair messed with. One of his favorite ways of affection.
"Rough day, sleepy?" I teased lightly as he just murmured into my leg as I scratched lightly at his scalp. Instantly, it was as if he was melting at the slightest touch. A content sigh released itself out of him as he became the equivalent of a cat within its owner's lap. "No words today?"
"No words, just scratches." The boy mumbled softly as he nuzzled his cheek lightly into my leg. "Am no longer Razputin the Agent, am now Razputin the Lap Cat." I couldn't help but laugh gently toward the tired mess that was my boyfriend as I continued to mess with his hair.
"My lap cat, hm?" He hummed in approval as I went to mess with the sensitive part right at the nape of his neck. "An exhausted kitty I guess." I giggled a little as he just nodded along.
"The exhaustest."
"Raz, that's not a word."
"It is the word if I want it to be."
"So you're the exhaustest?" I laughed a little as he turned just enough in my lap to look up toward me with a little nod. A soft sleepy smile on his lips as he made sure my hand was now messing with the hair right above his forehead.
"The most exhaustest."
"Razputing the Most Exhaustest." I smiled softly as I ruffled his hair a little more. A pleased look took over his face as I gave small scratches to the top of his head. "The most tired Psychonaut."
"Saving the world since you're eleven will do that to ya." He shrugged with a goofy smirk as his tired green eyes just looked up at me with pure tired admiration. "I believe I deserve scratches for it."
"You deserve the world, Raz." I smiled gently as I remembered how much had changed between us since then. How much I have mellowed out over the years and how much we have truly been through.
I can say I have grown a lot since the first time he tried to get into my lap like this. I remember being a flustered little thing about it all as I tried to push him off of me and onto the floor despite thinking how adorable it was.
"How about you rest up, hm?" I spoke softly as I saw his sleepy eyes try to flutter shut more than once in the last minute alone. "Lap cats need sleep too."
"Alrighty." He let out a soft yawn as he let his eyes stay closed this time around. "Love you, Lils." I felt my heart flutter as it always has when he said those few little words. Crazy to think they would still have the same effect so long after we first said them to one another. After seven years of being partners in crime.
"Love you too, Raz."
