"I don't know where you planned on going but I live one hour away," she says over her shoulder.

"Boulder, actually." Her brows shoot up.

"Are you some kind of corporate stalker?" she chuckles.

I run a hand through my hair, wishing I had picked more casual clothes.

"Nah, just looking for someone there."

"Mhm, okay. Well, let's go. I'm dying to hear all about your quarter-life-crisis over some beer."

"How do you know it's a quarter-life one and not a crisis in general?" I ask.

"Because you're too well-dressed for a regular crisis. Besides, I can sense it's not just about you, right?"

"Do you read the tabloids by any chance?"

"Yeah right," she rolls her eyes. "As if I'd spend hard-earned money on some rubbish magazines."

"Right," I reply meekly. "By the way, I didn't catch your name?"

"I didn't give you my name, silly. You could be an axe murderer."

"Yet you invite me for a road trip?"

"Well, yeah, you might kill me but I'm not giving up my privacy for your pretty eyes," she winks.

Damn. Straightforward.

"My eyes are pretty?" I blurt out.

"Christ, please..." she laughs, leading me to the parking lot. "Stop fishing for compliments. I'm sure you know all about your eyes."

"Yours are quite stunning, too," I retort.

Another laugh as she stops in her tracks, tits bouncing a little in her tight little pink shirt.

"No, all wrong, Suit!" she starts. "You don't compliment a lady just by giving the same one she gave you. Didn't you get any advice from your mom or dad when you were younger? How to woo a girl 101?"

I immediately lose my cool and start imagining my dad talking about shit like that. He'd never. That mental image alone makes me almost tear up laughing.

"In my family the only advice I ever got was stock market advice, sweetheart."

"Wow, talk about opening up the pits of childhood trauma," she sighs dramatically. "And we're not even in the car yet."

I don't know why, but I'm wheeling my suitcase behind me, no questions asked. After all, you can't trust anyone, not even your own father. But I've got an eerie feeling about this girl. Something about her screams genuinity with an edge of adventure and just...there's something about her that I've never experienced before. And boy, I can use something new.
