Chapter 58: No Extra Charge

Takes place during How To Train Your Dragon 2, and the corresponding fic I wrote for it, The Past's Future Is Present, up to certain point. You'll see what I mean.

Read and review, please and thank you!

Eret and I are on Drago's ship with my friends and adoptive siblings.

"And, as an added bonus, I also caught you their riders. No extra charge." Eret tells Drago.

"What?! Are you kidding me?!" Astrid asks.

"Awww, but you were so perfect!" Ruffnut exclaims.

"Sis, what do you see in this guy? He totally just sold us out!" Tuffnut asks me.

"I'm sure Eret has a plan. I'm sure of it." I tell my adoptive brother.

"Turns out, there's a whole bunch of them. They atta-" Eret starts before Drago grabs him by the throat. Drago's men struggle to hold me back.

"How many?" Drago asks Eret. My breath quickens as Eret chokes, stammering. I can hear Astrid whispering to the others.

"Drago doesn't have them after all," she whispers.

"HOW MANY?!" Drago demands.

"Hundreds! A whole island full!" Astrid exclaims as she walks up to Drago, his grip tightening around Eret's neck.

"Astrid. Stop. Talking. Now!" I say through gritted teeth.

"No. I'm not done." Astrid stubbornly says.

"I wouldn't worry about it. My men are hunting them down as we speak. They won't know where you're hiding, I promise you that." Eret hoarsely says.

"Oh, yes, they will!" Drago drops Eret and I go to him immediately, not leaving his side and glaring daggers at Drago.

"They know we're missing and they have…what are you doing?" Astrid asks as Drago is no longer paying attention to her, but he has his greedy eyes on me.

"Drago, please. Don't hurt her. She's done nothing wrong." Eret says.

Drago slaps me across my face, before grabbing it.

"Have you told anyone about what happened with the baby?"

"No, Drago."

"Good. Because I will. We'll see if Eret still loves you."

Drago drops me.

"Eret…did you know that your precious Becky gave birth to my child two years ago?"

"What? Wait a minute, you did what?" Eret asks me.

"I'm so sorry, Eret. He told me not to tell anyone. Or he'd kill me. I wanted so much to tell you."

"And, yet, she's about to be punished once again for defying me."

"Drago…please. Don't hurt her. She's done nothing wrong." Eret says again.

Drago grabs me by the ponytail and forces me onto the deck, ripping my boots, leggings, and underwear off of me.

I involuntarily moan as Drago forces himself inside of me.

I begin to hyperventilate as sobs begin to wrack my body.

"Love, focus on me. And only on me." Eret tells me.

I can only nod.

I can't help but climax as Drago releases himself inside of me.

"If things go my way, you'll have my child in about nine months. And I'll make sure neither you nor the baby survive the birth."

"Drago, please. Let her go. Do whatever you want with me. Just leave her alone. Please. I'm begging you." Eret says, and he actually starts crying on my behalf.

"I don't like it when people beg me for mercy. It just makes me kill them that much quicker."

Drago draws back his bullhook and stabs me in the stomach and pulls back the bullhook.

He's killing me, just…like…he killed…my son.

Love…

Love, wake up!

I bolt up, breathing hard. I can feel tears streaming down my cheeks.

I look around at my surroundings. I can see the moon through the skylight, and I can feel Eret next to me, and I can feel my baby stirring inside me.

"My love, are you alright? You were thrashing around in your sleep. I was so scared for you." Eret asks, placing a hand on my shoulder.

I begin to tell Eret about my nightmare as I lean on him.

"Can – can we go for a walk?" I ask after I finish telling him.

"Of course, love. Of course we can. Come on." Eret gets up and he helps me up after making it to the other side of the bed.

I'm about six months along in my pregnancy.

Eret helps me downstairs and we walk outside after he grabs a blanket from our couch and after we put our shoes on.

Eret wraps the blanket around me as we walk through Berk.

I can't stop leaning on my husband.

"Are you alright?" He asks me.

"No." It's then I break down, and Eret is quick to catch me and help me to the ground.

"Shhh. Shhh. I'm here, love. I'm here."

I sob into my husband's chest, and I'm so overwhelmed, and I can't stop.

"You're alright, love. You never have to see that monster ever again. I promise."

"Eret, is she alright? Is – is the baby coming early? Do I need to get the midwives?" Hiccup asks, kneeling in front of us.

"She's alright, chief. She just had a really bad nightmare and needed to take a walk."

"Oh. Gotcha. I'll leave you to it, then."

"Thanks, chief. Good night."

"Night, guys."

Hiccup walks off, and Eret slowly helps me to my feet.

"Are you sure you're alright, darling?"

That question…it sends me spiraling into hyperventilating.

(Eret's POV)

"Baby, baby, baby. Focus on me. Focus on me. You're going to be alright. Just focus on my voice. Deep breaths. Deep…breaths. If you hyperventilate, you'll lower the baby's heart rate."

That sends my wife into hysterics, and I panic, not knowing what to do.

"Chief! Chief! We need help!"

Hiccup runs as fast as he can over to us.

"Give her here." I gently pass my sobbing wife to our chief, and he holds her close on the ground.

"It's okay. You're okay. Focus on my heartbeat." Hiccup slows his breathing, which, in turn, slows his heartbeat.

"Sweetie, you need to slow your breathing down. You'll be okay." Hiccup tells my terrified wife.

"E-Eret."

"I'll pass you back over to him as soon as you're calmed down. I promise."

Soon, my wife's breathing goes from shallow and fast, to deep and slow, back to normal.

"That's it. That's it."

Hiccup passes her back over to me. She's shaking.

"I'm sorry…sorry."

"Shhh. You've done nothing wrong, my darling. I promise."

"Get her to Gothi as soon as possible. Gothi may want to observe her for the rest of the night."

"I will. Thank you, chief."

"You're welcome."

I stand up slowly with my wife in my arms and walk up to Gothi's hut.

"I'll get Fishlegs. You just focus on being with your wife."

"I will. Thank you again, chief."

"You're welcome."

Hiccup leaves, and, while he goes to get Fishlegs, I knock on Gothi's door.

"Gothi, we need your help."

Gothi opens up the door and beckons us in.

I lay Becky down on the bed and explain the situation to Gothi.

She listens to the baby's heartbeat and scrawls her notes down in the dirt.

I translate them for myself and my wife.

"She says it was a close call, but you'll both be alright. She suggests bedrest for the next few weeks."

Becky nods, laying back.

"Get some sleep, my darling. I won't leave you." Becky nods again, and soon falls asleep.

Gothi asks, in her own way, what caused this.

I explain to her, and she whacks me on the head with her staff before scrawling something else in the dirt.

"So, what you're telling me is, after so many years of knowing her, I should know how to handle this situation?"

Gothi nods.

"Gothi, you flatter me, but I don't know everything."

Then it dawns on me.

"But I do know my wife…which means I should've known – should know – how to take care of her when something like this occurs."

Gothi nods.

"Thank you, Gothi. I don't know what we'd do without you!"

Gothi provides me with a pillow so I can sleep with my head next to my wife, and I eventually fall asleep.

When I wake up, Becky is wide awake, and sitting up.

"Hey, there, sleepyhead." She tells me.

"You doing alright, love?"

"Better now. I just panicked last night. I'm so sorry I put you through that."

"Honey, that's not your fault. You had a really bad nightmare, and I don't blame you for that."

"You don't?"

"No. Of course not, love! If anything, you're stronger now than you were before you-know-who."

"I am?"

"You are. And I'm so proud of how far you've come."

"Thank you, Eret."

"You're welcome."

"Well, good morning, guys. Gothi says you can go back home, just to take it easy."

"Thank you. Both of you. And don't worry. I'll be taking it easy as much as possible." Becky says as I help her up.

"The most challenging part is…how are we going to get down?" Becky asks me.

"Well, I'll carry you, of course!"

Becky smirks at me, and I smirk back.

"Thank you, Eret."

"You're welcome, my love."

We head back down to the main part of Berk, and I carry my wife home. We get some strange looks on the way there, but Becky and I both ignore them.

We're grateful. For Gothi. For our friends and family. For our baby. And for each other.

Once we get home, even though she protests at first, I wait on my wife hand and foot, bringing her food and drink, things to do, and I read to her when she's not asleep.

A month passes, and we're forced, by Grimmel, to leave Berk.

Permanently.

I can only hope and pray that this doesn't stress Becky out too much, causing premature labor.
