Chapter 61: Another Tragedy (Loki's POV)
(Loki's POV)
I'm woken up by…Stoick the Vast, of all people.
"Stoick?"
"Loki, it's your daughter. Something's wrong. I can sense it. You have to get to Midgard."
"But Becky's mother said…"
"Go. Please. If that young woman dies, it would destroy so many people on New Berk, my son included."
I nod at Stoick, and I head to Heimdall, and then to Midgard.
I'm in the Great Hall, and I spot my daughter passed out at one of the tables, her face down in a pile of mead.
Tears well in my eyes.
What had caused my daughter to drink? She's never had alcohol in her life, so what could have caused her to drink like this?
Invisibly, I approach my unconscious daughter, and, quickly, I check for a pulse, and there barely is one. Saying a quick prayer to Eir in my mind, I heal my daughter just as the young chief of Berk approaches her.
"Oh, gods, Becky. What did you do?" Hiccup asks.
My daughter bolts up, and Hiccup and I barely move out of the way in time. She vomits, and begins to hyperventilate.
What I wouldn't give to be there for my daughter. I have no clue what's going on, but I do know this: my daughter needs me.
I head to Valhalla, and approach Rebekah's biological mother, Amora.
"Amora?"
"Loki? What are you doing here?"
"I know that we haven't spoken in quite a while, but…our daughter needs me. She's…I hate to say this, but she was on the verge of dying."
"No…not my baby girl. How do you know this?"
"I spied on her. Stoick the Vast woke me and told me to go to Midgard, so I did. I healed her. I know you told me not to be in contact with her until after her 25th birthday, but if I hadn't healed her, she would be here right now, and a lot of people on New Berk would be destroyed, our son-in-law Eret included."
"I understand, Loki. But you are not to make contact with her again until after her 25th birthday, unless absolutely necessary. Understood?"
"Yes, Amora."
"Good."
Stoick approaches me.
"Loki…thank you for going down there."
Amora smacks the back of Stoick's head.
"I know that what I did, Amora, was in total disobedience of your orders to Loki, but…I couldn't not let him do anything. She needs him, Amora. She may not know him, but she needs him."
"I understand, Stoick. If I could have told her about him, I would have."
"It would have been too much for her to handle, Amora. At the time, at least." I say.
