Chapter 68: The Reunion

Continuation of the last chapter. Contains a reference to Disney's Tangled.

(Eret's POV)

The gang – now including Becky and I – arrive on Berk, and Drago is eventually defeated, Toothless becomes the alpha and Hiccup becomes chief.

After I proposed to Becky – officially – and she says her speech, we head over to her adoptive siblings so we can officially meet.

"Ruffnut, Tuffnut, I'd like you to officially meet my husband, Eret. Eret, these are my adoptive siblings, Ruffnut and Tuffnut."

"It's a pleasure to meet the twins who saved Becky's life before she was brought into your family." I say.

"Oh, so you told him about the attempt, sis?" Tuffnut asks.

"I had a really bad cold one day, and I told Eret about my attempt and thought about how my attempt might have been coming back to bite me in the butt by giving me a really bad cold."

"Gotcha. Eret, thank you for saving our sister. We really can't ever repay you for all you've done for her, and for us." Tuffnut replies.

Ruffnut is staring at me, with goo-goo eyes.

"Ruffnut…hello? Sis, snap out of it! Just because Eret's gorgeous doesn't mean he's yours." Tuffnut says, snapping his fingers in front of his twin.

"Huh? Oh, thanks, Tuff." It's then Ruffnut, finally, actually notices her sister.

"BECKY?!" Ruffnut all but tackles her sister to the ground.

"Ruffnut, for the love of the gods, please, don't be so rough on her. You remember how you-know-who did you-know-what just hours ago to your sister?" I ask.

"Right. Sorry, sis. I got carried away." Ruffnut gets up and offers a hand up to her sister. Becky takes it.

"I-it's okay, Ruff."

"Oh, my sweet brunette baby girl!" We turn and see who I'm assuming are Becky's adoptive parents.

"Mama!" Becky's adoptive mum rushes over and gently but firmly hugs her adoptive daughter.

"Oh, my gods. My sweet baby girl."

"Mom…you're kind of…squishing me."

"Oh, sorry."

"It's okay, Mom. It's good to see you, too. Where's Dad?"

We look out to the distance and see a man standing there, just staring.

"Oh, my brunette little girl! It's so good to see you again." The man comes over and hugs his adoptive daughter. The twins and their mum join the hug and they sink to the ground, content. I stand off to the side, not wanting to interrupt this sweet moment for the Thorstons.

Becky's adoptive mum looks at me, and offers a hand. I go to shake it but she pulls me into the hug.

I suddenly hear someone starting to hyperventilate, and I know that sound all too well. The Thorstons back off, and our poor Becky is gasping for air.

"My love, shhh. You're okay. You're safe. I promise you, you're safe. Come here, baby. It's okay." I say gently. Becky crawls over to me and I hold her close as she begins to sob.

"Is she okay?" Ruffnut asks, concerned for her sister.

"No, but she will be. I hope someday she'll be able to tell us what Dra – that madman – put her through."

"If that bastard touched my brunette little girl." Becky's adoptive dad starts.

"That's a story for another time, I'm afraid, Mr. Thorston."

"Please, Eret, call me Frank. You've earned that right, having saved our Becky's life."

"I just wish I could've stopped the torture she went through. Shhh. You're okay, love. You're okay." I say, looking down at my true love.

My poor girl soon falls asleep in my arms, and I carry her to her home at the Thorston's – a place she hasn't slept in in three years.
