Mist and Zelda made their through Smashville, desperately trying to find any trace of the elusive Yuri. Not only was she nowhere to be found, there were not a whole lot of other villagers to ask either. Most either seemed to be either enjoying Peach's party or enjoying a quiet day out in the countryside.

'Oh, it's no use." Zelda huffed, as they came to a stop. "She could be anywhere."

"She'll turn up eventually." Mist said, a little bit anxiously. "You can ask her when you see her…"

"Oh, I wish Peach didn't host that party…" Zelda sighed, shaking her head. "Someone has to know where she is…"

Samus was finding herself very much at odds with the people around here.

"Darling." Bayonetta cooed, as she wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug. "You look ravishing…"

"Thanks." Samus said, awkwardly patting Bayonetta on the back. The witch pulled back, smiling. Her arm was locked arm in arm with the much shorter, mustachioed man by her side.

"Samus." Mario said. "You look a overwhelmed."

Samus had to stop herself from groaning. Mario had always been able to see right through her. "I am."

He winked. "The wedding will be over soon." He said. "You and Ike can be alone at last."

"I'm looking forward to it." Samus said.

"Oh, are you?" Bayonetta said, smirking, winking flirtatiously. "I could give you advice, you know…"

Mario yanked her arm and she let out a surprised sort of giggle.

"Ignore her, Samus." Mario said. "You need no advice from her."

"That's right." The lofty, rather impressive voice of Palutena, the Goddess of Skyworld, rang out over them. Samus froze, her eyes darting around, expecting the Goddess to appear out of nowhere.

"I'm not going down there." Palutena said, laughing to herself. "But I just wanted to wish you a very happy wedding."

"Oh, oh, oh. Tell Samus I said hi!" Pit's excited voice rang out. Samus could almost see Palutena rolling her eyes.

The divine aura faded.

"Is she really that scared of me?" Bayonetta asked. "I frighten her that badly?"

"I imagine she doesn't want to come." Mario said, amused. "I doubt it has anything to do with you…"

"Ah, Samus!"

Samus blinked. She had to stop herself from reaching for her pistol. Standing there, side by side, were two of her greatest enemies. The Space Dragon Ridley, dressed in an immaculate three piece suit that covered up his tail, wings, and claws. And Dark Samus, wearing a bright pink sundress over her jet black armor.

People stopped and stared as they walked up. Ridley's mouth was agape in something that resembled a very large grin. Dark Samus held the flowers in front of her as if about to offer them to her. They both looked ridiculous.

"My friend!" He said, reaching out a hand to clap Samus on the shoulder. She stepped back, eyes narrowed, as the claw narrowly scraped her shoulder.

"Ridley." She said, her voice cold. "What are you doing?"

Ridley's body drooped.

"I just wanted to congratulate my new sister in law for getting married." He said. At these words Dark Samus stepped forward, holding out the bouquet for her as if meaning to take it. "Oh yes, Darkie and I have gotten married… So sorry that you couldn't come…"

Dark Samus was nodding along, as if any of this made any sense. Ganondorf, King Bowser, and Wario were standing some distance away, and Samus could make out loud chuckles coming from their direction.

"Ridley." She said. "You-"

"Samus." Ridley said, his voice becoming quiet and simpering. "I know we've had our differences in the past, but a wedding is an important time. It's about showing our love and appreciation for one another, it's about moving onto the next major chapter in your life. Darkie and I have been talking, and I think it's time we… bury the hatchet. Don't you?"

The chuckles became full blown audible laughter at this point. Samus felt her face go red. She wanted to attack, but Mario was standing right there. He would put a stop to it in an instant.

"I suppose we should." Samus said, through gritted teeth. "Until the wedding is over."

"A truce!" Mario called, raising his glass joyfully. The rest of the Smash Brothers cheered, raising their own glasses. Samus groaned, rolling her eyes. Everyone was laughing.

And then the entire roof of the castle was ripped away.

"What?"

Samus looked up, eyes squinting. There, flying high above them all, was a gigantic, flying ship. The bow was adorned with a giant, moving dragon head, which roared ferociously. The propellers on the back spun frantically, desperately fighting to keep the thing afloat.

A green figure stepped up to the side of the boat and looked down at them. It raised its claw in triumph.

"Super Smash Brothers!" It called down to them. "Welcome… to your despair!"

Samus wasted no time: Power armor surrounded her entire body as she leapt up the side of the castle, up through the gaping hole in the roof. She spun wildly in midair before touching down on the deck of the ship.

"Samus Aran." The creature said sinisterly, as it raised its clawed hand towards her threateningly. "A pleasure."

It was surrounded by all manner of creatures on all sides. A giant, robed tiger sat crossed legged against the back wall of the ship. Watching her with slitted eyes. A robed humanoid figure, probably a female, stood idly by with a staff in hand. And finally… a figure she very much recognized. Sylux was standing there, staring at her.

"Quite an entourage you have here." Samus said, finger on the trigger in her arm cannon. "And you are…?"

"General Scales." The creature said. "Ruler, dictator, and tyrant of Dinosaur Planet." It grimaced at her, as if expecting her to recoil. She stood her ground.

"This isn't Sauria." Samus said, scanning the creature thoroughly with her scan visor. The scan indicated that the creature was a mutant dinosaur hailing from the Dinosaur Planet, Sauria. It had last been seen by Fox McCloud, just before it had been defeated by Andross.

"Yesssss…." Scales hissed, his reptilian eyes fixed on her. "But my rule of the Planet is threatened by you, Samus Aran. And Fox McCloud…"

"You tried to destroy Dinosaur Planet." Samus said, as she took a step. Scales snarled, brandishing his claw. It hissed at her.

"I cannot rule a destroyed planet, girl." He said. "No… that was the accursed Krazoa God's doing. It manipulated me. Controlled me, for its own purposes."

'What are you doing here?" Samus demanded, glancing towards Sylux. "Answer me!"

The Tiger leaned forward.

"It's simple." He said. "We're here to kill you, and everyone you know."

Samus stared at him, incredulous. She ran a quick scan on him. A tiger, born and raised on a tropical island. Somehow acquired magical powers. Other details unknown.

"Surely you can't expect to take on every Smash Brother alone." Samus said. "Everyone is here."

The Tiger pointed upward. "Indeed."

Samus looked up, and her heart stopped.

High in the skies above Tellius, a land that had not even yet developed gunpowder, alien ships covered the entire horizon for as far as she could see. Her Scan visor desperately tried to identify them all: Venom Warships, Space Pirate Cruisers, Star Destroyers.

Her attention was brought down to Earth, when General Scales charged at her. She whipped up her arm cannon in a frenzied defensive melee strike, knocking him backward. She leapt forward, wrapping his head around her arm in a vice grip as she shoved her cannon into his mouth.

"Ugh!"

The concussive blast of the Super Missile would have killed most creatures instantly, but it seemed that General Scales was made of stronger stuff. He ripped Samus off of him and jabbed her with his claw. She dodged, narrowly avoiding the blow, and fired again.

He took a step backward, wincing in pain. She leapt at him again. He snarled as he struck at her with her claw, but she again deflected it. Once more he went flying back.

"She is as powerful as they say." The Tiger commented. It had not moved from its spot. It seemed rather amused, if anything.

"Scales was a fool for challenging her alone." Sylux agreed. It too did nothing to aid its companion.

The scene in the castle below was Chaos. Enemies had appeared, seemingly out of nowhere surrounded the heroes entirely.

"Princess Daisy!" Tatanga, alien invader, cried as it flew through the hole in the ceiling. It lowered itself in front of Daisy, smirking to himself.

"It has been too long!" He cried out, as weapon fire blasted from his ships cannons. Daisy grimaced to herself, diving out of the way as the spray covered the entire room, sending cakes and pieces of the table flying.

"Tatanga!" Daisy roared, as she landed neatly on her feet. "I still owe you a beatdown for kidnapping me all those years ago!"

She reached for a bottle of wine and threw it. It crashed into his windshield, sending alcohol and glass flying. Tatanga stopped in place, waiting for the fluid to clear, as Daisy leapt upward and smashed her fist into the glass, shattering it into pieces.

'URGH!"

"Go Mommy, go!" Rosie cried, cheering in Luigi's arms, as Daisy ripped Tatanga out of the spaceship with her bare hand and roughly threw him to the ground.

He was instantly swarmed by an entire mess of dark, shadow like beings. They swarmed into the hall, moving rather like insects, surrounding the Smashers from all sides.

"Twilight Beasts!" Ganondorf cried out, for all to hear. "Zant! I will have your head!"

A Twilight Beast leaped for him, and Ganondorf punched it, sending the matter it was made of dispersing into air.

"Their weakness is light!" He said. "Palutena!"

"Yes, Master." A sardonic voice said. A beam of radiant light shone through the room. The Beasts cried out in agony, and were gone before they could even begin their assault.

But a powerful looking, bald man charged through the smoke, his eyes on the first target that came in sight: Minmin. He charged forward, and let out a vicious uppercut. Minmin barely managed to block.

"Bald Bull!" She said, as he backed away from her, preparing his Bull Charge again. "No you don't!"

Her arms extended. Bald Bull barely had time to react as she grabbed hold of him and pulled herself over. She kicked out at him furiously and then sent him flying.

"Hi yah!"

A large, black man dressed immaculately in a white suit and hat stepped up into the fray.

"Pimps, playas, and pain purveyors…"

A blow from Bayonetta's umbral weave sent him flying through the air at break neck speeds.

"AH HELL NAW!"

He slammed through the ornamental glass window of Princess Peach herself, sending shards of beautiful glass falling to the ground. Through the hole in the window came more enemies. Little robots, perhaps ones created by Dr. Robotnik or Dr. Wily, soared in by the dozen. Mean little eyes poked out of spiky, hardened shells, and they charged at the Smashers, looking to tear them to pieces.

"This is getting out of hand!" Corrin said, as she slashed at one with her sword. It bounced off harmlessly. "Where are they all coming from?"

Ridley shook his head as dozens of robots came swirling around him, buzzing saws and lasers at the ready.

"Oh, come on guys." He said, raising his hands. "I don't want to damage the suit-"

A robot dived in with a saw, intent on cutting him in half. Ridley raised up his hand and swatted him aside, sending him flying. A loud TEARing sound filled the room.

"My suit!"

Ridley's eyes, previously full of mirth and humor, suddenly turned harsh. He flexed his wings, tearing the suit into pieces, as he charged at the robots, making them scatter. He spun around wildly in midair, sending the pieces of his suit and his enemies flying with his tail, wings, and claws.

When he came to a stop he rose to his full height, snarling viciously.

"I'll kill you all!" He snarled, as he bolted upward, towards the pirate ship where Samus continued her battle with General Scales.

A/N

The villains have finally showed themselves! I had a couple of members speculating that the person behind the attack on Samus would be Ridley, but I can now confirm that that is NOT the case! No, everyone playable in Super Smash Bros Ultimate IS a hero in this story!

As a result of that, a lot of the characters I chose to be villains are somewhat obscure. Obviously General Scales, the decoy antagonist of Star Fox Adventures, wouldn't be the first choice for a lot of people, but for this story I really wanted to utilize a lot of forgotten, obscure characters as villains. Tatanga, for example, is the antagonist of Super Mario Land for the Game Boy, and once kidnapped Daisy. So I thought it would be cool for her to take her revenge.

But that begs the question… Just who were those other characters on the ship with General Scales? Can any of the readers possibly guess? I don't think any of you can!
