Ike, Link, Elincia, and Lucina had reached the streets of Smashville by the time the invasion had begun. It had been so sudden that they had been taken completely by surprise. Dropships flew by at low altitudes, dropping foot soldiers and warriors to raid the village.

"What's happening?" Elincia gasped. Being the only one of the group who had never left the planet, she was too shocked to react.

"A battle." Ike said grimly, as he raised Ragnell. "Stay with me, Elincia."

Link winked at Lucina. "Know how to use that sword, princess?"

She gripped it, scowling. "Very well."

A group of the insect like space pirates saw them standing there and let out their distinctive, alien cry. Groups of them filtered towards them, lasers at the ready.

"These are small fry." Ike noted. "Who is the commander?"

He neatly blocked a laser beam with Ragnell and then brought it down, sending its own ray of energy to the pirate. It split the head in half, leaving it stumbling about.

"Leave that to Samus." Link said, immediately. "We need to focus on protecting the guests."

Some distance away they could see Prince Roy and his Father, Eliwood, fighting off a giant, bull like creature. It raised its giant, axe like weapon and brought it down onto Eliwood's head… only for an explosive blast from Roy's Sword of Seals that blew the entire thing into dust.

"Roy!" The group hurried over to him. Roy looked up at them, looking determined.

"What's happening?" He asked immediately. "Does anyone know?"

"No one here." Ike said, immediately. "Any injuries?"

"Hector saw a Dragon and went chasing after it." Eliwood said, a little grimly. "He's going to get himself killed again if he keeps this up…"

"Lady Lyndis has barricaded herself into our Smashville Home." Roy said. "A small group of non combatants are in there with her…"

He stopped, staring at Ike.

"Your sister!" He said. "I just saw her with Zelda! She was going to look for Yuri Kozukata… she may be in danger!"

Ike's grip tightened on Ragnell.

"Zelda can take care of her." Link said, immediately. "Don't worry yourself, Ike. Mist is in good hands."

"There you are!"

Out of nowhere a blonde girl came charging at them, eyes glinting in the moonlight. Ike raised Ragnell, expecting her to make a beeline for him, but instead she dove past him and headed straight for Link. Armed with a sword and shield, she spun wildly to slam her weapons against his.

He blocked her easily, staring at her dispassionately.

"Now who is this?" He asked conversationally, digging his heels into the ground. The girl scowled at him.

"Hero of Time!" She said. "You will pay for what you have done!"

Link was so surprised that he almost dropped his guard. The girl brought her shield up and tried to bash it against his head. Before she could, however, Lucina stepped in, swinging Falchion down at her. She stepped back, grimacing, glaring between the two of them.

"This is between the two of us, Hero." She spat. "She shouldn't interfere."

Link cast a bemused glance at Lucina before looking back at his opponent. "I'm sorry, I think you have me confused with someone else-"

"I know who you are, Hero." She snapped. "I remember it well… how you came to the continent, with nothing but the Master Sword and shield on your back. How you fought and clawed your way into possession of the Soul Edge. How you destroyed it, and left the rest of us in the dust…"

She brandished the sword.

"I am Cassandra!" She shouted. "And I will make you pay for what you have done?"

Link still seemed somewhat bemused. "I think you have me mistaken for someone else." He said. "Can we talk this out!"

Cassandra screamed and swung at him. Link, effortlessly, deflected the attack and struck back at her with the Master Sword. She cried out as she took several steps back.

He had frozen her in time. He narrowed her eyes at her as he attacked her, again and again. After four full seconds of strikes he sheathed his weapon and turned away from her.

"What was that all about?" Link asked the group, as Cassandra cried out in pain and agony as blood came spurting out from all the wounds in her body. She collapsed to the ground, unable to continue.

"She said Hero of Time." Roy said. "So she might have might another incarnation of you."

"Huh." Link said, scratching his chin. "It's hard to keep track sometimes…"

Lucina looked at the girl, a little bit anxious.

"She wasn't your lover, was she?" She asked, strangely a little quiet.

"Who knows?" Link asked, shaking his head. "But certainly not in this incarnation."

Lucina said nothing, but her lips tightened.

"We should head to the Castle." Ike said. "And regroup with the others."

The others all agreed, and off they went.

Fox McCloud raised the blaster and fired. The ReDead recoiled slightly, moaning piteously as blast after blast pelted its sickly looking brown skin. Eventually it succumbed, and crumpled to the ground, unmoving.

Krystal raised her magic staff and fired off blasts of fire at the large keese that were flying down at them from above. One cried out in pain as a blast hit it, burning it to ash.

"Where are they all coming from?" Krystal asked, a little worried. They had been taking a walk together in the woods when the attack had come, and no one else had been around.

"No idea." Fox said grimly. He pressed the communicator on his neck and spoke into it.

"This is Fox McCloud… This is an Emergency-!"

Krystal screamed as pale, clammy hands reached up and wrapped around her body. A giant, writing mass rose from the ground and advanced towards her. The Dead Hand lowered its head, its jaws wide…

Fox shot the thing through the mouth, causing it to release Krystal. It backed away fearfully, its head bent, and dug back underground.

"Jump Fox!" Krystal commanded, as she leapt into the air.

She slammed the ground with her staff with an intense magical energy: A large burst of energy caused the ground around them to shake, and they heard the Dead Hand cry out in pain beneath them.

"Good job." Fox said. "But I doubt that will be the last we see of the enemy."

"Has anyone responded?" Krystal asked.

"No." Fox said, grimly. "Communications are down. Both locally and long distance. I can't contact anyone."

"The others." Krystal said. "Do you think they're-"

"They'll be fine." Fox said. "I'm more worried about Marcus."

Krystal raised her finger.

"I can sense him." She said. "He's fine. He's holed up at our place…"

They stopped. Something was rustling in the bushes. They raised their weapons, pointing at the spot in question.

"Pika-pi!"

It was a Pikachu. It stood up on its hind legs and stared at them intently.

"A Pokemon?" Krystal asked, bemused. "Here?"

"Perhaps our Pikachu invited it." Fox said. They knew the Smash Brothers Pikachu well enough to tell at a glance that this Pikachu was not theirs.

"Go on, then." Krystal said, bending over to it. "You best go find a place to hide."

The Pikachu's cheeks sparkled.

"CHUUUUUUUUUU."

Krystal cried out in pain as electricity coursed through her entire body. She was so shocked that she dropped the staff at her feet. Fox raised his blaster, aiming it at the rat, but before he could fire a figure dropped down from a tree above, kicking him in the back of the head.

Fox went sprawling on the ground as this figure rolled and grabbed Krystal's staff.

Just as suddenly as it had appeared, the Pikachu turned and dashed back into the brush. Fox adjusted the blaster to fire at this mystery attacker. The attacker turned, and brandished the staff.

A blast of fire burst forth, and struck him!

"Ugh!"

Fox fell to his knees, as the figure whipped the staff back around. Krystal, regaining the use of her limbs, took on a fighting stance.

"You…' She murmured.

"Yes, Krystal." The figure said. "It's been a long time."

Fox trained the blaster on the new opponent. It dawned on him suddenly that this opponent was a Wolf.

"Who are you?" He demanded. "Answer me!"

"Fox…" Krystal murmured, her eyes downcast.

"Ah, Fox McCloud." The Wolf said. "I've been wanting to meet you for a long time. A very long time." He took the staff and slammed it to the ground. Powerful magic energy burst from it as it embedded itself into the ground. The Wolf released the staff, and reached for the sword at his sword.

Fox fired off a shot. A powerful energy shield rose from the staff and surrounded the wolf completely, protecting him from the shot.

"I won't ask again." Fox said. "Who are you?"

"I am called Sabre." The Wolf said. "Son of Randorn, Royal Knight of Dinosaur Planet." He stepped forward, his eyes narrowed as he brandished his saber.

"Sabre…" Krystal whispered. "What are you-"

"You know him?" Fox asked, training his eye on his wife. She nodded.

"He came to Dinosaur Planet in hopes of helping me stop General Scales." She said. "I haven't seen him since."

Fox turned back to him, his blaster trained on him. "Is this true?"

"It is." Saber confirmed. "Before you came and interfered, I had every intention of retrieving the Spell Stones and restoring Dinosuar Planet. I was already on my way to rescue Prince Tricky when you first touched down on the Planet."

He grimaced. "I spent weeks waiting on that mountain… observing the SharpClaw, learning the names of their leaders, planning out a rescue operation. I froze my tail off sleeping in caves, with nothing but fire to keep me company…"

He pointed the sword at Fox.

"And what happened?" He asked. "You interfered! You prevented me from rescuing Prince Tricky and going about my mission."

The blade in his hand shook with anger.

"You destroyed Drakkor, defeated General Scales, and restored the Planet." He said. "With no understanding of what you managed to accomplish."

"It was just another mission." Fox said, his voice cold. "But one great thing did come from it."

"And what is that?"

"I met my wife."

Sabre stared at him. And then he began to laugh.

"I'll enjoy killing you, Fox." He said. "Now, let us begin."

The two clashed.

Ridley took off through the window, his powerful wings quickly pushing him through the air. His keen eyes noted the vast number of ships in the sky, and his eyes narrowed.

The giant flying galleon below him was a flurry of activity. Samus Aran was dueling a single, mighty enemy. Samus was winning, but other foes were waiting onboard. One figure in particular stood out to him. Ridley folded his wings and dived.

He landed on the deck of the ship and screeched.

"Sylux!"

Sylux turned to look at him, its weapon raised.

"Ah, Ridley." It said. "A pleasure."

It dove out of the way from a swipe of Ridley's claws. Ridley glowered.

"What is the meaning of this?" Ridley asked. "Why are all of these Ships… under my command attacking this planet?"

"Your command?" Sylux asked, snickering. "You have been relieved of your position, Ridley. Or perhaps I should say… replaced."

Ridley's nostrils flared.

"Samus Aran, and the Federation have been a thorn in our side long enough." Sylux said. "Today is the day we end it."

"End it?" Ridley asked. "By exposing yourself to a massive counterattack by the Federation by encircling an entire planet with an entire fleet?"

"You think this is the extent of our power?" Sylux asked. "Soon, you will face horrors that you have never even imagined…"

Ridley looked up. His eyes widened in horror.

The ships were preparing to fire. They were going to destroy the entire planet.
