Shinsuke stares up at the sky, his lips pursed unhappily as he searches for... something. Anything to explain why exactly he feels like this, as if something is coming for them. Something massive, something dangerous. Unlike anything they've ever experienced before. He's still mulling over it when Shane walks up to him, calm and confident, as he has been since winning his match against Miz at Wrestlemania. Shinsuke nods politely to his boss before turning his focus back to the clouds easing by overhead.
"Is something wrong?" Shane wonders, fingers toying with the crest around his throat. "You're usually not this pensive, man. You've got a lot of us talking. So I just figured I should come over and try to figure out if something's about to happen that we may as well be aware of."
Shinsuke turns to look at him, a twist to his lips that Shane's never quite seen before. "It... feels like an old enemy is about to return." Shane stares at him, expecting some sort of a clarification, but Shinsuke turns his focus back towards the distance, clearly done speaking.
"Great," Shane mumbles, standing quietly by his side and watching too, though he's not sure what for. He eventually returns to the others, forced to shrug and shake his head, uncertain what exactly's going on with their eccentric leader. Rusev, Lana, even Aiden head over and stand close to him, but no one says anything, the tension and uncomfortable expectation weighing on all of them.
Asuka seems troubled as well and Shane walks over to her. "Do you know what's going on?"
She exhales, looking up at him, eyes wide and wet. "Hai," she says quietly. "It... is not good." He stares at her and she struggles, unlike Shinsuke, to say more. "Just a... sense... of something on the horizon," she tells him quietly. "Nothing solid, just... foreboding."
Shane exhales. "Great," he mumbles. "Perfect. Some danger that no one can see, but can sense coming closer. Just what we need." The Digimon are on edge too, Coronamon, Floramon, Bearmon and Armadillomon all lurking nearby, the more inexperienced partners staying by their partners sides in hope to defend them. He turns his gaze back to where Shinsuke is staring, and thinks he sees something.
A dot, in the horizon, growing larger and larger. "Armadillomon, digivolve," he commands his partner quietly, and this begins a chain reaction as all of the partners capable of it follow his lead, excluding Coronamon, who remains by Shinsuke's side, quiet and watchful.
Not that it matters- the first attack is huge, tears through all of them and causes most of them to revert back to baby form, leaving them and their human partners scattered around, moaning and singed as fires rage here and there. Shane can only squint upwards as WarGreymon X-Antibody lands heavily between them and Shinsuke, laughing derisively. "You have harmed my kind for the final time," he informs them, planting his massive foot on Andromon and grinding him into the ground until he de-volves as well, Tsubumon unconscious under his heel.
"NO!" Shinsuke yells, and Apollomon appears, tackling WarGreymon X-Antibody away, allowing Shane to scramble forward, breathless and in pain, to collect his partner and hold the small, lifeless creature to his chest.
"Oh my God," he whispers, barely able to hear over the sound of his pulse pounding against his skull. "Oh my God." He buries his face in Tsubumon's side and rocks, slowly, despite the pain coursing through his body.
