Seth stares, a cold shiver crossing down his spine. "Wha... what did you just say, Luke?"

"It was one of the more sizable nursery villages," he says, brows furrowed, a weary look on his face. "Consisting mostly of baby Digimon..." He sighs heavily. "There's nothing that can be done for it now, reports are that it was fully destroyed... but there may be survivors... if you could..." His voice falters. "If you could go look..."

Seth looks heated, and vulnerable. "Of course, man. We... we can do that," he says, hand twitching as he reaches out and touches Luke's shoulder. He feels solid, despite just being a computer program, and Seth breathes in. "We'll let you know if we find anything. Anyone."

"Thank you," Luke breathes out.

They take their leave of him, and the trip is silent, tense. When they arrive, the village is mere cinders, homes burning, and data choking the air. It's clear Luke was correct, there are very few, if any, survivors, here. But they search anyway, carefully picking through the rubble. The women are crying quietly, and the men look pretty destroyed as well, signs of young digimon all over- the melted remains of toys and tiny utensils to help them eat.

Seth digs his nails through the dirt after getting to the bottom of yet another pile of scorched wood, hanging his head at still finding no survivors. He's not sure how many digimon may have lived here in peace and happiness only hours earlier, he doesn't want to know, the weight in his chest already too great. He's about to stand up, give up, when he hears a soft sound. His eyes sharpen in the distance as he hears it again- a whimper? Getting back to his feet, he stumbles over to one more building and realizes there's a pit in the ground, as if someone had tried to dig a makeshift cellar in one of the homes, and he digs out the concrete and wood, opening the below levels to the open air, peering inside.

One lone, young Digimon lay there, trembling and crying out, tears pouring down her face as she looks up at him. He swallows, hard, and hops down, kneeling by her. "You're safe now," he promises the young Salamon, resting a hand on her back. "Let me get you out of here." She whimpers, loud and desperate, as he gently lifts her up. "Am I hurting you?"

She doesn't say anything and he nuzzles her against his shirt, trying to warm her up. "Let's get you out of here," he whispers, Betamon helping him get her safely up and out. "Thanks." Once he's back up on solid ground too, he hoists the little creature up and tucks her into his arms, walking back towards the other Digidestined, Heath and Drake immediately taking over soothing the baby.

Seth looks out over the rest of the village and closes his eyes. All of this destruction and they'd only saved one creature, but it's even that much. He reaches out and strokes a finger down Salamon's face, trying to breathe a little more steadier as she stares up at him, trembling. "Let's get you to Luke," he says softly. "C'mon, guys."

He looks over his shoulder at the destroyed village and grits his teeth, wondering if they'll ever get a handle on the evil overwhelming this world or if it's just going to be like this for as long as he tries to fight against it.
