He sat up in the bed, looking down at the sleeping boy next to him, smiling a little as he stroked his orange hair quietly, golden/yellow eyes closed; features that were mirrored with his own. His sleeping twin brother.

He sighed softly, shifting a little in his sitting position and the sleeping twin mumbled something incoherent, smiling a little as he curled up a little more, and shifting closer to the warmth that was his brother and the one that was awake smiled softly. A picture of pure innocence; that's what his brother created.

Kaoru then sighed softly, closing his eyes as his hand idly stroked the shirt strands of Hikaru's hair. He thought of many things at night; it was the best time to, especially since he had been getting less sleep than usual, it seemed. He didn't know why, either; but he didn't really care. He got to think more at night since Hikaru wasn't up asking him what was up and if he wanted to do this or that.

What the younger twin felt for the older twin was wrong; he knew this, and yet his feelings continued to grow and flourish. He loved his twin brother; loved him very much. Would do anything for him; would die for him. Just so that Hikaru could be happy.

Even if he had to be pushed away from his world, to sit alone on the bench in the cold, holding no one's hand. Only if his brother was happy.

That's all he cared for; Hikaru's happiness. If he could see a smile on his brother's face; laughter in his eyes; a carefree attitude, then he felt complete; happy; full. Only if Hikaru smiled, though.

He knew his brother liked that girl…Fujioka Haruhi. She was their classmate, and a Host in the Host Club; a good one at that. Yet she was still unbelievably female whenever she dressed the part. He found it sad that Hikaru was opening their small world for her, but at the time when he first started doing so, he was still part of it: Hikaru, Haruhi and Kaoru. Because Kaoru was always last and he knew this. And he didn't care.

As long as Hikaru was happy. As long as he was smiling. That's all that mattered to Kaoru.

He felt his brother shift again, and slowly wake up, looking up at him with tired eyes. "Why are you up?"

"Couldn't sleep." Kaoru replied, smiling softly. Hikaru lazily rolled his eyes, pulling his brother down and wrapping an arm around his wait, looking into his eyes tiredly as he struggled to stay away to say whatever he had to say.

"Get some sleep, Kaoru; even if you have to use me as a pillow. Whatever will work." He mumbled, then sighed and pulled Kaoru closer unconsciously, going back to sleep. Kaoru blinked, before he smiled and shifted closer, resting his head on Hikaru's chest, his hand resting on his shoulder quietly.

Slowly, sleep started to claim him, and he yawned, eyes closing as he slowly drifted off. But before he did, he looked up at his brother, and saw a small smile on his face, and couldn't help but smile in return.

As long as he was happy.
