Chapter 3: Josuke Higashikata Wants to Hear Secret Messages

Josuke woke up in the park again. He felt the back of his head where a large knot had formed from where that strange stand had kicked him.

'For someone against a great evil, the user of this stand isn't exactly a nice guy, is he?' Josuke thought, 'well, I guess I need to find the others. I wonder how many of us were sucked in that damn portal?'

At that moment, a bicycle rushed past Josuke, nearly lopping a sizable chunk of his head off.

"Hey asshole! Watch where you're going!" Josuke yelled at the bicycler, as Crazy Diamond appeared behind him, grabbing the back wheel. This caused the biker to fly off the bike and wipe out hard on the brick pathway of the park.

'Whoops. Guess I got a little carried away,' Josuke thought, rushing over to help the poor sod he tripped up.

"I'm sorry, please don't beat me up!" the kid on the ground yelled. He was blonde, wearing an all-black uniform of some kind, and had a prominent gold chain hooked on to his chest.

"I'm not gonna beat ya up man, I just knocked you off by instinct. Sorry," Josuke said, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.

The blonde kid loosened up a little bit. "I'm Josuke. Josuke Higashikata. What's your name?" Josuke asked, reaching down a hand to help him up.

"Miyuki. Miyuki Shirogane," Shirogane replied, taking Josuke's hand.

Josuke pulled him up, chuckling. "Sounds like a girl's name."

Shirogane, never one to let go of his pride, clapped back with "At least I look like I live in the 21st Century. I mean look at that hair!"

Josuke's expression changed from jovial to enraged.

"What the hell did you just say about my hair?"

"I was just joking! You made a joke about my name; I was just clapping back! We were having fun!" Shirogane said in a panicked voice, clearly seeing Josuke was upset. He began to back away, but tripped over his bike.

"SAY IT AGAIN!" Josuke demanded, closing in.

'This is bad. If I don't say anything I might get beaten up, but if I say it again, I'll definitely get beaten up!' Shirogane thought, looking his attacker in the eyes. 'If only I knew what caused him to feel that way about his hair, maybe I could defuse the situation!'

Suddenly, a memory flashed through Shirogane's eyes. It was mostly blurry, but Shirogane saw a man dressed like Josuke outside of a car, helping a woman by laying his coat under the car tires on a snowed in road. Then, just as quickly as it appeared, the memory faded. When Shirogane snapped back to the present, Josuke was winding up a punch.

"I didn't know about the man on the snowy road! I'm sorry, I didn't know the significance!" Shirogane yelled desperately, shielding his face. Josuke stopped moving, fist inches from Shirogane's face.

"How did you know that?" he asked quietly.

"I-I don't know. I wondered what made you so attached to that hairstyle, and suddenly, a memory flashed in my head that wasn't mine," Shirogane answered.

Josuke sighed, visibly relaxing his body. "Don't let it happen again."

"What? Reading your memory or insulting your hair?"

"Insulting my hair. About the memory reading, I'm gonna do something and you'll have to tell me what you see."

Josuke stood still, and out of thin air, something appeared. It looked human, but had pink skin, and was covered in a light blue armor with a heart motif.

"What is that?" Shirogane asked.

"It's a stand. Stands are the manifestation of your fighting spirit. All stands have a unique special power that reflects the user. Mine is called Crazy Diamond, and it's ability is restoration. And since you can see it, that means you have a stand too," Josuke explained.

"How can I summon mine?" Shirogane asked.

Josuke stayed silent. Crazy Diamond moved past him, going in for a punch. Shirogane yelled in surprise and covered his face, but when he did, a yellow humanoid came out from behind him, moving it's arms with his. The stand had an odd shaped helmet, light yellow armor, and a short cape. Shirogane also observed that it looked similarly to a Spartan or Trojan from ancient Greece.

"Alright. Now that you've unlocked it, so to speak, it should be a lot easier to access it. Almost like remembering a song title based on a few notes played on a piano," Josuke told Shirogane.

"What's mine's name?" Shirogane questioned.

"That's for you to decide," Josuke replied.

"Hmm. My stand can read people's memories, so I'll call it Secret Messages," Shirogane exclaimed.

"Sounds good. Well, I have to go find my friends. I'm sure we'll see each other around, Miyuki," Josuke said, adding a little emphasis on Shirogane's name to tease him a little more.

Shirogane nodded, and picked his bike back up. Something in his gut told him things were about to get a lot weirder. Suddenly, his phone began to ring. He pulled it out.

Josuke looked back over and exclaimed "Wow! I've never seen a phone that looks like that! Must be something to do with this new universe!"

Shirogane chose to ignore his strange comment, as he looked at the called ID. It was Kaguya Shinomiya, his romantic opponent in the battle of love and brains. After some quick internal debate, Shirogane picked up the phone, deciding she could be calling about something to do with the Student Council, or something else important.

"President, thank god you picked up," Kaguya said, relieved.

"What is it Shinomiya? Are you in trouble?" Shirogane answered, his need to protect his crush overpowering the part of his mind thinking this could be a mental trap.

"I'm here with a man named Jotaro Kujo, and I think you should come to my house right away. It's urgent," Kaguya said, not detecting Shirogane's slip-up.

"Of course. I'll be right over," Shirogane replied, and hung up.

That's when Josuke spoke up. "Did I hear the name Jotaro Kujo?"

"Yes," Shirogane answered, "is he one of your friends?"

"Yeah. I guess I'm going with you. Lead the way, Miyuki," Josuke told Shirogane.

Shirogane mounted his bike and the two set off to the Shinomiya estate. Meanwhile, someone watched from the shadows.

"Good… Lead me to Jotaro and Kaguya. Then I can kill all 4 of you! Nothing can stop my stand, Discipline!"
