Chapter 17
The Force is a particular source, something beyond what science could comprehend. Although I am able to channel it, sometimes it acts on its own, mostly as a detriment to my goals.
The Jedi Temple, Coruscant
As the clock strikes noon, the Jedi gather in droves to attend their lunch hour, Padawans and their Masters alike filled the mess hall, conversing and fulfilling their appetites. Jedi Master Syfo-Dias and Master Qui-Gon Jinn sat discussing a plethora of topics including;
"The Chosen One?" Syfo-Dias raised his brow.
"I know it sounds ridiculous but it's true." Qui-Gon assured.
"I don't want to doubt you Master Qui-Gon but are you sure it was truly the Force?"
"I've never had a vision quite like that one, it was like...like the Force warned me." Qui-Gon explained.
"Did the Force tell you the Chosen One's location?" Syfo-Dias asked.
"No, it only spoke of his mission."
"His? It's a boy?"
"Yes, it specified that but nothing else, simply speaking parables of how he will conquer darkness and bring back the light." Master Jinn said.
"Have told the Jedi Council?" Syfo-Dias said, cutting his food.
"No, you know how they are." He replied; "I need to find the child on my own and bring him before the council."
"Do you even know where to start? Where to go?" Syfo-Dias inquired.
Qui-Gon sat for a moment, rubbing his beard, thinking of any possible options; "...Not exactly." he said.
Syfo-Dias sighed; "I have an idea, but first we need to go to the library."
The Chairman's Office, Scipio
At the helm of his financial throne, Heigo Damask continued his duties as Secretary Of Republic Treasury, calculating the economic overflow coming in and out of the reserve. "Send this to the front office." Damask commanded the astromech next to him. He handed the droid a chip device, as it rolled it's way out the door.
Another droid entered the room with a holopad as it said; "Sir, it's time for your 11 o clock appointment with the Supreme Chancellor."
"Transfer the call into my office." he instructed.
"Yes sir." the droid said, tapping on the holopad.
After a few minutes pass, a giant transmitter rises from the hardwood floor as a human-sized hologram of the Supreme Chancellor appeared before him.
"Chancellor."
"Chairman." The Chancellor greeted; "I didn't know I still had to make appointments."
"What brings you in my presence at this hour." Damask said, scrolling through his holopad.
"Uh, I assume you have heard of a possible shift in powers within the Senate." He continued; "Rumors are that the Rim are clinging to win the majority and without a leader in the Core Faction, it will be challenging to reclaim it."
Plagueis laid his holopad on the table and sat back on his chair. "I assume you want me to fix that for you."
"Uh-" The Chancellor stumbled; "Yes-I mean I would appreciate your input, Chairman."
Plagueis took a second, without moving an inch, "I already have that taken care of Chancellor, anything else?"
"Oh, well have you complete the budget for-"
"I already had my astromech droid send the details to the Senate offices, Chancellor." Plagueis replied.
"... That's great, I'm glad you were able to finish it in time."
"Anything else?" Plagueis said simply.
"Uh, no that is all...Goodbye Chairman." Chancellor Antilles said as the hologram disappated.
Damask resumed his work, "B-247!" he called, the droid immediately entered the office as it said "At your service sir."
"Search for the last known location of Finis Valorum for me." Plagueis said; "Whether it's through purchases, withdrawals, deposits anything of the sorts."
"Yes sir." the droid replied, bowing as it left the office.
The Jedi Temple Library
Entering through the hall of great knowledge, the two Jedi Masters approached the desk of the Chief Liberian, Jedi Master Jocasta Nu, asking for her help.
"Master Jinn, Master Syfo-Dias, how can I help you at this hour?" she asked.
"I would like access to the holocron vault." Syfo-Dias answered.
"Is there any specific reason? do you have permission from the Order?" Nu asked again.
Syfo-Dias and Qui-Gon looked at each other for a second; "I need access to classified information, it's an emergency."
"I'm sorry Master Jedi, specifics are needed for me to grant you access to the holocron vault." Jocasta Nu explained.
Syfo-Dias went over and whispered into her ear and after a couple minutes, Jocasta Nu nodded and motioned for the two Jedi to follow her; "Right this way."
"Well that was fast." Qui-Gon commented.
"Just needed some convincing that's all." Syfo-Dias replied.
The trio approached the entrance where Master Nu opened the lock with the force, causing the doors to shift open. The two Jedi Masters continued to follow the librarian through the circular corridor until they stopped at a certain section. Master Nu proceed to then pick out a holocron from that section and handed it to Master Syfo-Dias. "Thank You Master Nu."
"My pleasure." she replied, she made her way out towards the exit, leaving the two Jedi Masters to discuss amongst each other. "What information do you have for me?"
Syfo-Dias opened the holocron to reveal a holographic image of a giant, 20-legged creature with long tails and wings bigger than the average military freighter ship. "These are the Duinuogwuin or Star Dragons in simple terms." he continued; "These creatures are the most intelligent and destructive of any beast in the galaxy. There intelligence is believed to be derived from their innate ability to be in tune with the Force, a connection stronger than even any great Jedi can comprehend." the hologram morphed into an image of another creature, a more rough looking one. "This power made them targets for Sith, Bounty Hunters, scientists and black market traders alike, but the reason for their brink of extinction was their war between their rival species, the Gotal. The Gotal managed to reduce their numbers significantly but the Republic eventually intervened and ended the conflict and vowing to keep the Star Dragon race protected from extinction. It's the main reason why information about them is kept in this vault."
Finishing his explanation, the Jedi Master put the holocron back where it belonged as he said; "I say all of this to tell you that the only way to speak to the Force directly is to meet one yourself and I know where to find one." he paused; "But you will need some equipment for this mission."
"Very well, I will make some preparations. Qui-Gon said.
"Good, I'll have a ship ready for us in a few days, for now just keep this information between us, Master Qui-Gon."
