Chapter 18
Late August 1 week after school started
Athena POV
I was startled awake as my room started shaking. 'An earthquake! I need to get Percy' I thought running out of my room. As I passed the hall bath I noticed sink and shower faucets shaking harder than everything else 'it's not an earthquake someone's shaking the water in the pipes!'. I opened the door to Percy's room and saw him covered in sweat thrashing around on his bed 'is he having a nightmare' I thought 'but that's not possible gods don't have dreams'. "Percy wake up" I said shaking him. His eye's fluttered open as the shaking stopped "Mom? What is it?" he asked.
"What were you dreaming about" I asked. "I-I don't remember" Percy said sitting up "but I feel cold, not like cold cold. I mean like scared cold." I nodded and rubbed his back. "Well get some rest I need to check on a few things." I said. I had barely closed the door to Percy's room when there was a knock at the door, half way there I heard my neighbor Cristin talking to her husband Tom "Cristin we can't just break in there." He said.
"But what if their hurt" Cristin replied "we need to know they're same". "I assure you both me and Percy are fine" I said opening the door. "Oh thank goodness" Cristin replied hugging me. "You can let go now" I said after a bit. "Oh sorry" Cristin Laughed "I'm a hugger you know that". I nodded and kinda went on autopilot as I could feel the other me being summoned to Olympus.
-still with Athena but on Olympus-
I slouched in my throne after I flashed into the council room, normally I would try to look dignified but I was exhausted from sustaining two different bodies all the time and it was the middle of the night. Several more flashes introduced my fellow Olympians, including my shirtless fiance 'glad I grew out of that school girl faze otherwise I'd be blushing horrible right now'. My father was the last to show up as usual "I apologize for the late hour but I feel this matter can….not….brother seriously you couldn't throw on a shirt?"
"You said it was urgent." Poseidon defened. "It is urgent" Zeus "I'm sure you all know about the earthquake that just struck Manhattan". 'oh-oh' I thought. "Yeah totally ruined a rave I was at." Hermes said. "The earthquake was caused by Percy Jackson as a result of a nightmare." Zeus said. The reactions varied from surprised to an odd sense of respect but the most seemed to be unnerved by the thought of such a young demigod holding so much power.
"I called you here to decide what we should do with him seeing as he is clearly a danger to those around him." Father said. 'Too bad I can't tell them he's got a goddess watching at all times' I thought. "He just needs to be trained and camp half blood is ill equipped to do so, Hades it's ill equipped to train any children of the big three in terms of how to use their powers." Poseidon said. "So what are you proposing?" Demeter asked. "Give me a year or two to properly tr-". "I will not have you training him we have laws for a reason" Father stated. "Yes all because you cou-". "I agree Poseidon shouldn't be the one train his son but I do believe training is the best course of action the only question it who." Hera said.
"How about Artemis." Aphrodite suggested. "NO!" the other members of the council boomed. "It was just a joke." Aphrodite said sullenly folding her arms. "What about Triton?" I said "He should be more than capable of teaching Percy."
"I don't like having the boy in his father's domain" Father said. "Why not?" Poseidon said "He'll have plenty of space to train, there's nothing he can really destroy, and your little tracer spell will let you know if I even go within a mile of him". 'That would be true if the spell worked on gods' I thought. "No objections…great with that done I'm going back to bed" Demeter said flashing out.
Unknown POV
"That really looks good on you" the receptionist said. "Thanks" I said as I checked how I looked in the mirror I had to agree I looked great. I'd spent almost the entire reign of Olympus trapped in that freak shadow palace so I didn't know much about modern fashion but this felt good. I had a slightly puffy white shirt, loose black jeans, a faded tan open in the front vest, a cowboy hat as it was called, and an old fashion 20 something button up black coat. "Yeah you look like a modern cross of a cowboy and Pirate" She said. "In that case I'll take it." As I needed mortal money I simply created it and handed it to the girl "If you plan on sticking around town for a while call me." she said handing me the receipt and her phone number.
As soon as I rounded the corner I tossed her number in the trash. I had things I needed to do and having children would only complicate things. Plus I wasn't going to be the god who ran around having children with every mortal I met. I headed downtown and under the one bridge in the whole city, the mortals probably thought it was a hobo sitting under the bridge but I could see it for what it really was a Telekhine. "What brings you out this way stranger?" the Telekhine asked. "I need weapons made ones strong enough to be my symbol of power and I need them quickly." I said.
I hated coming to something as vile as the being in front of me but I needed to stay under the Olympian's radar for now. "That's quite an order." the telekhine said "Are you sure you can pay for something like that". I pulled out a small and poured some of the rare gems into my hand "Is that-". "Jorgonite, Virdent, and lacrima." I said finishing the monsters sentence "All gems that were plentiful before the fall of the titans but are almost nonexistent now. A mere handful should more than cover the cost of the weapons".
"Is there any specifications you would like" he asked. "Yes I have the designs here" I said handing him the paper "also I want them made of stygian iron. How long do you think it will take?". The Telekhine looked the plans over "You have some unusual preferences in weapons." He said "Stygian iron is hard to come by but I do have some in stock. I'd need two weeks just to do it properly, if you gave me three I could put all my skill into it". I nodded and handed him a few gems "You'll receive the rest three weeks from now after I've tested the weapons." I said.
Percy POV
"Are you feeling alright Percy?" Emily asked as we walked out of math. "I haven't been sleeping all that well lately" I said. "Well you better shape up" She said "Mr. Brady looked like he was about to blow a gasket at his star student looking completely out of it". Our next and last class of the day was science and I wasn't looking forward to it. My teacher Miss Darbe was beyond boring, her voice was like a quite foghorn, I walked and took my seat and checked the board for our start up work. Miss Darbe always gave us a thought assessment or a pop quiz to keep us busy while she graded papers from the previous class. Today was pop quiz on the periodic table, Malcolm sat on my left while Emily was on my right cheating off my paper "You could just memorize it yourself." I said quietly. "Yeah but that's boring and your memory is better than mine." She replied.
We passed up our tests and got started on the day's lesson. To be honest I don't even remember what it was about because I was asleep before she even turned on the projector. It only felt like I was asleep for second but when I woke up Emily was shaking me, my heart was pounding, and I felt like I couldn't breath. "You ok Percy?" Emily asked. "Ya just give me a second." I said looking around, the class was empty even the teacher was gone. "They announced there was going to be an assembly after class." Emily said practically reading my mind.
I got up and followed Emily out of the room letting her lead the way. "This isn't the way to the assembly hall." I said noticing we were heading the completely wrong direction. "I know we're head up to the roof." She said, I gave her a mock glare "What it's not like we haven't ditched assemblies before." I just shook my head and followed her.
Third person POV
"So what were you dreaming about?" she asked. "I don't remember" Percy said. "Really?" Emily asked clearly not believing me. "I can't honest, I've had it before but I can only remember the feeling I have when I wake up." Percy said leaning back. The warm wall felt good on his back and his eyelids started feeling heavy "It's just complete fear." Percy said falling asleep. Emily snorted looking at Percy sleep 'you know it rude falling asleep when talking with someone' she thought.
Percy cringed and started tensing up like he was back in class, what really scared Emily was his ragged breathing, trying to find away to calm him down Emily laid Percy down so his head was in her lap. "You're alright Percy it's just a dream" Emily muttered softly, Percy ever so slowly relaxed and even smiled, Emily kept telling herself she was only trying to help a friend. She was so entranced by Percy she didn't even notice Malcolm stand in the doorway to the roof 'I'll just let them be' he thought heading back down the stairs.
