Chapter 19
Percy POV
"So how was your first day under the sea Percy?" Triton asked. "Awesome!" I said taking a bite out of my sandwich "What exactly am I eating?". "...It's probably best you don't know." He said. Today wasn't actually my first day under the sea. Triton had been teaching me all month, he just decided to take me into one of the smaller towns so I could enjoy some of the entertainment available here under the sea. "Triton, Percy" my Dad called. "Dad!" I shouted swimming over to him. "What are you doing here, what about the ancient laws?" I asked. "I just wanted to see you besides my brother can't see what happens down here in my domain." He said "Plus I needed to keep an eye on the storm."
"Can't Zeus take care of it or is it your problem because it's over the ocean?" I asked. "Actually both me and Zeus are watching this. You see storms are a combination of the sea and the sky,it's more powerful than either of us." He said. "But wouldn't you still be able to control it? You are the stormbringer". MY dad shook his head "Creating a storm and controlling it are two different things. Neither the sky or sea like to be controlled and when you put the two together the power increase exponentially. I don't think there's been a god or goddess who could completely control all storms since the Primordials were in charge the rest of us just have to settle for influencing them."
"What else is on your mind?" Triton asked "You look like something is bothering you". "I got a couple things first why can't gods visit their kids?". "That actually goes all the way back to Hercules as most people call him." Dad said. "When he was a boy Zeus kept his distance and Hercules was a very charitable person. Simply because he could he went to Thebes and freed them from the oppression Minyans expecting no reward at all. Zeus was ecstatic when he heard the news, Hercules wasn't even 19 yet, and Zeus called him his favorite son. About six years pass and Zeus absolutely spoiled him in that time. Hercules got used to having things handed to him and getting out of trouble because of who his father was. Hera then sent him into a rage, which Zeus was very cryptic on how, and the whole twelve labors happened. Hercules was given godhood for his heroics but Olympus was greatly displeased with what happened to him so we allowed Zeus free reign in creating a law to prevent such an outcome again. Later we realized our mistake as we now could barely see our kids at all."
"Ok next how did you find a way around the ancient laws so you could see me?". Dad just floated there a moment before smiling in a scary way "Well it all started the day I asked your mother to marry me, I would've had Hestia marry us that day but Zeus would never have let you live if I did. We went back to my place, opened up a bottle of wine, and me and your mother started kissing my hands drifted down to her-". "I change my mind!" I shouted "I don't want to know". "Thought so" My Dad laughed "now since the storms over I should be getting back to my meetings."
Triton POV
"So whats really bugging you?" I asked after Dad left. "When you picked me up for training the other day I overheard Chiron ask Mr.D if my rain was in preparation for the great prophecy. "I've heard about it a few times before but what is the great prophecy?" Percy asked. We were close to the sea floor so I took a seat "Mom and Dad have been trying to figure out how to tell you about it for a while." I said. "It's the real reason the big three made their no children pack. Just after World War 2 Apollo's oracle had a prophecy A half-blood of the eldest gods, Shall reach sixteen against all odds, And see the world in endless sleep, The hero's soul a cursed blade shall reap, A single choice shall end his days, Olympus to preserve or raze. Wanting to prolong the time till the prophecy came to pass they made their pack." I said.
I could see the gears moving in Percy's brain and I had to make sure he didn't misunderstand "Father didn't break the law to ensure his own existence. He was there for you because he wanted to. Hades the three of us A.K.A. Mom, Dad, and me didn't think you would be the child of the prophecy. We had thought we had gotten you out of it the day you were born then the Fates showed up last year and said they'd make sure you were eligible." I said. "Seriously?" Percy practically begged. "I Swear on Styx that is essentially what happened." I said. I looked up and saw the sun was about to set "How about you stay at one of my more scenic palace's for the night, I'll call mom and let her know, sound good?". Percy nodded "Triton?". "Ya" I replied. "Do you think I could be strong enough to save Olympus and everyone." He asked. "As you are now no." I said flatly "We can train you all we want but until you can control the power you inherited from Dad and the intelligence from mom with all your heart and soul. You'll never reach your full potential."
Third Person POV
At dawn the following morning the peaceful sleep of Artemis' hunters was ruined by the landing of a flying Maserati. "Apollo!" a very tired and cranky Artemis shouted as she stumbled out of her tent. "Sorry sis." Apollo said getting out of his car "Hermes apparently pranked me and messed up my navigation".
"Just what are you doing here?" Artemis asked massaging her temples. "What a guy can't visit his little sis when he wants to." Apollo said. "For the last time I am older than you." Artemis seethed. Apollo however was barely paying attention and was in fact waving at the hunters "I have told you NOT to flirt with my hunters!". "I was just waving at my daughter's Arty." Apollo said. "My name is not Arty it's Artemis!" She shouted "Just get out, I have things I need to do and you have a bad effect on my hunters". Apollo prepared to throw another quip when he just lost it "Fine! If you hate having me around so much I'm gone. Actually for that matter I'm done trying to be your brother and getting yelled for!" He shouted walking to his car. "See ya at the next council meeting." He called taking off. "What just happened?" Artemis asked herself.
Apollo POV
I took the long way to Olympus so I could cool off before meeting Hermes and the others. "Hey Bro!" I called to Hermes. "Where is everyone else?" I asked. "Hephaestus called and said Aphrodite had some things for him to do so he'll meet us at the club. Ares said his girlfriend surprised him with a date so he'd meet us at the club. As for Triton I haven't heard from him so my guess he slept in." Hermes said.
I leaned my head back on my chair "So I guess everything a bust till later." Hermes said. "No it's not, Triton is probably in his palace just off the coast of Delaware so lets go wake him up the fun way and get this day started."
We flashed down to Triton's palace and we didn't even knock we just went inside. Naturally we raided the fridge then proceeded to the living room where Triton was sleeping on his sting ray leather couch. "Why is he on the couch?" Hermes Whispered. "How should I know?" I replied. "But he doesn't even own a tv the living is just for games and what not?". "I said I don't know". "Where's my pudding?" Triton called from the kitchen. "Wait if Triton's in there the whose-" I began. "Percy!" Triton yelled. "Dude get down." I said diving behind the couch, Hermes apparently had the same hiding spot in mind because he landed right on top of me spraying pudding out of the little juice pouch it was in.
I covered my mouth so no one could hear me grunt in pain from being squashed. On the couch I heard Percy sit up "Wha going on?" he mumbled. "Percy." Triton said now in the room "do you remember what I said about the pudding in the fridge?". "Not to eat it?" Percy said seemig puzzled. Above me Hermes started moving 'what the Hades are you doing' I thought till I so his hand going after the pudding I sprayed earlier which was about to float out from behind the couch.
"Then why is it gone." Triton asked his voice becoming extremely annoyed. "I swear I didn't-" Before percy could finish his sentence Hermes lost his balance causing his head to bang on the floor with a really loud thud. "Who's there!" Triton shouted. I tried get up and run but Hermes shoved me to the floor screaming "every man for himself!". By the time I got back up Triton already had his spear pointed at me "Percy I think you should go home." Triton said with a dark look in his eye.
