Chapter 28
AN: Okay so a few people pointed out that the name Furok is from a TV show called Magi Nation. I had no idea what this show even was and in fact got the name from a friend when I was having trouble coming up with one. So please ignore it I will not be having a Magi Nation crossover. Now on with the Story!
Artemis POV
I was locked with in combat with Atlas when Percy shouted "Protect them!" followed by something that sounded like "Fur rocks". I pushed away from Atlas hoping to get a little breathing room when my body froze and the air seemed to teem with raw energy. It was like the air had become solid and everyone else seemed to be affected by it as well even Atlas.
Booming laughter seemed to come out of nowhere causing the ground to shake. "I can't believe it someone finally passed the test." The voice said in an amused tone.
"Who are you I demand you name yourself!" Atlas bellowed. I simple 'shut up you fool you'll just get us all killed' I thought.
Up above us the sky seemed to split open revealing a gigantic figure with the longest beard I've ever seen "You demand! My foolish grandson you are in no position to demand anything."
'Grandson?' I thought mentally working the ancestry out in my head 'Atlas is the the son of Iapetus who is the the son of...Uranus Uh-oh we're screwed!'.
Atlas noticeably paled as Uranus continued "I created the weight of the sky as a test for a mortal who begged me for power. So I made a deal with him if he could prove he had true strength I'd give him the power he wanted. If not he'd be stuck holding it up till another took it from him. Now after 15,000 years I never thought anyone would pass but this child of the sea has. True strength does not come from your heritage, domains, or your physical might. True strength come from the heart, a willingness to put everything on the line for the people you care about. I could continue but I feel the kid would just prefer his reward."
Lightning corse down the clouds and into Percy making him scream in agony then stopped leave Percy and the are around him covered in dust. One thing that I felt impossible not to notice was that the weight of the sky was gone, it completely vanished with the lightning. The sky began to close up and Uranus left us with this final remark "I will not help the gods or Titans in their quest for power but I do hope Percy enjoys his gift and his new pet."
I was so focused on the word pet I almost didn't realise I could move again. Atlas didn't have that issue and came right at me. The smoke where Percy and Annabeth were parted and a deep blue-white Dragon crashed into Atlas.
Annabeth POV
I laid there staring at as this dragon thing forming behind Percy out of this blue energy that seeped out of his skin and clothes. Right after he shouted a sort of intelligent light appeared in it's eyes. When Uranus spoke, I felt this giant weight on my chest. Then Percy was struck with lightning and the dragon took off.
I dragged myself over to Percy wincing as my muscles burned with pain. When I got to him I quickly checked his pulse, thankfully he was fine and I noticed that the string of the necklace his mom gave him had been cut. The tear drop shaped stone currently lay a few feet away and that was when I noticed the blood, it was golden and pouring from his eyes, ears, and mouth.
Triton appeared but he was see through like a ghost "Tie the necklace around his neck" he said.
"What is he?" I asked.
"Look I can't explain right now you need to tie the necklace back around his neck before the battle's over." He said and I gave him a look. "I swear on Styx I'll explain later just do it. If the others see this Percy will probably be killed." Having gotten the unexpected oath I did as he asked and saw Percy's blood turn red. "Thank you Triton said fading out.
As the last of the dust settled I saw the same dragon fighting Atlas. As a testament to the Titans might he was successfully fighting off a Goddess, two hunters, two demigods, a satyr, and a Dragon. My heart warmed a bit when I saw Tomas there fighting. I know it's a little selfish but I'd like to think he was fighting for me.
Several minutes later Zoe stumbled when dodging an attack and Atlas went to hit her with his spear. The girl from west point pushed Zoe out of the way and went flying when Atlas hit her. Atlas so caught up in his hubris attempted to gloat but that just gave the Dragon a big enough opening to not only bite his right arm but rip it off a the shoulder.
After that it was all downhill for the Titan as he couldn't really defend himself properly one handed. Thalia struck him with lightning, then Tomas stabbed him in the leg, and finally Artemis slit his throat. For a moment we all took a sigh of relief then Thalia screamed "Bianca." and ran over to the fallen hunter.
Before Thalia reached her Hades appeared out of the shadows causing her stop. Hades kneeled next to Bianca and seemed to say a few words then she turned into a ball of light that he stuck in his pocket. Meanwhile the Dragon calmly strolled over to us shrinking as it did till it was about the same size as an iguana and curled up on Percy's chest.
Hades stood up and disappeared into the shadows. "Well he was a lot of help." Thalia wheezed.
"We need to get going before anything else arrives." Artemis said, her look showed strength, her voice didn't. Artemis whistled and what I guessed was the moon chariot dropped down "Quickly everyone in the chariot." She said.
Tomas ran over and helped me carry/drag Percy into the chariot. "What happened?" Artemis asked me sending Percy a particularly worried glance.
"I'm not sure to be honest he just passed out after the sky disappeared." I said.
"How about you three?" She asked.
"We're fine just a little beat up." Thalia said.
"We should probably hurry milady." Zoe said.
"Why can't we just flash there?" I asked.
"I'm not sure Percy can handle that kind of travel in his condition." Artemis said. A few minutes later we were nearing Olympus.
Apollo POV
I sat on my throne waiting for Zeus to quite with the crap and get to the fact that one of our own had been captured. Ever since I basically disowned Artemis I'd given up on all pretenses. I wasn't just gonna sit back anymore, I'm saying what I think and doing what I think is right. Just as I was about to loose my cool Annabeth and Artemis burst through the door.
"Where's Thalia." Zeus asked and I rolled my eyes. Never mind the others or the two beat up beings in front of you.
"She's with Grover, Tomas, and Percy but Percy is injured badly." Annabeth panted.
Poseidon shot me a look but I was already getting off my throne. "Where are you going Apollo." Zeus said warning tone.
"To take a look at Percy." I said.
"Leave the kid be we need you here." Zeus said "Besides it's not like we need him alive." Which immediately grabbed Poseidon's attention.
"You what you can shove it every life matters and if you need a vote from me so badly Hephaestus can have mine till I get back." I said. Zeus started shouting but I just flashed away.
"Lord Apollo." the satyr said moving away from Percy.
I did a quick scan of his vitals something were a couple things off since I'd seen him last but I couldn't tell what all of them here. It was then that I noticed the lizard on his chest "What's with the lizard?" I asked.
"Not sure but it seem to want to leave him." Thalia said.
"Well it's going to have to because I can't have him in hospital wing." I said, mainly because there was an energy link between the two. At those words the thing jumped up and laid itself across Thalia's shoulders. "Get to the throne room I'll take care of him."
Thankfully my palace wasn't to far away so it was a real quick trip to my emergency room. On a deeper analysis the energy connection between Percy and the lizard was extremely similar to the connection between a god and their sacred animal. But it couldn't be that, sure Percy technically has enough power to pull that off but the strain on a the body is immense a mortal just couldn't handle something like that.
There was also this thing, like an extra muscle that I couldn't identify. I debated trying to trigger it to see what it was but I had no idea what it would do to him. Then there was this background buzz which wasn't exactly new I'd sensed it before somewhat throwing off my scans but now it was louder like a machine that was working over time.
I cut his shirt off so I could take care of his ribs and slipped off his necklace just so it wasn't i the way and his blood turned gold. "Hol...hmm" I screamed before a hand covered my mouth and something thin was pressed to the back of my head.
"Don't move." a man said behind me "I'm going to remove my hand okay, don't move and don't scream."
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I'm a friend." He said.
"You well you're making one heck of a first impression." I said.
"That may be but I can't let you tell anyone about Percy being a god." He said.
"Ya mind telling me how that happened?" I inquired
"He was born that way." He said "Poseidon had Hestia cast a spell to remove his god hood before Zeus could sense it and kill him."
"Why would he do that, even if his mother was an enemy that wouldn't anger Zeus." I said.
"Then think it through, you've been seeing Percy's visions what would anger Zeus." He said.
"I don't know if the girl was someone Zeus was interested in but bloodlines like that overlap all the time. It would have to be something closer to home like a….a daughter." I said as it hit me.
"Exactly." He said "and right now you are one of six people that know this secret and I'd very much like to keep it that way."
"How do you know so much? Not just about Percy but the visions as well." I asked.
"Swear on Styx to keep Percy's secret and I'll tell you whatever you want." He said.
Considering the weapon on the back of my head I didn't have much of a choice "Fine I swear on Styx not to tell anyone about Percy till his parents announce it."
"Good now if you want answers meet me at the Florida state museum at the space exhibit in three days at 4 pm and come alone." He said moving his weapon so I could see it "Side not do you like Hershey's." He asked dissipating into shadows. 'He held me up with a candy bar' I thought 'now that takes some serious stones.'
I heard the sound of footsteps coming down and quickly slipped Percy's necklace back on. Two seconds later Ares walked through the door. "Hey bro." I said calmly.
"You know I'm not sure if I'm impressed by you telling off dad or not but you've got one tough conversation coming later." He said.
"Is that all you came to say or was there something else?" I asked setting Percy's broken ribs.
"No it's not." Ares said then he proceeded to tell me everything the council had learned about the quest. "And then father sent me here to what this gift from Uranus was."
Thinking fast I said "Well in my professional opinion I'd guess the Dragon was Percy's gift. I've done a full check up and physically he hasn't changed all that much since his quest to get the master bolt. Ya sure he's older and a little stronger but that's to be expected and I doubt a mortal's body could stand the stress of being altered after holding the sky, so the pet Dragon would be the next best thing. Now if you'll excuse me I need to finish with these ribs." I said. I let out a sigh after Ares left "Kid you're either gonna be the death of us or our savior."
Please review
AN: I'm not entirely sure what Percy's gift is going to be but I'm will to take recommendations just nothing to out there or that would make him overly powerful.
