Chapter 41

Annabeth POV

It had been months since Triton and Zoe were married not that anyone really knew yet. I mean of course they Triton was married they just didn't know to who yet. Zoe refuse to tell anyone before Artemis as she was her closest friend. Zoe hasn't made a single public appearance which was causing many to question if Triton was actually married. Zeus was so convinced Triton's marriage was faked somehow that he was openly slandering both Triton and Poseidon. We didn't care though Triton was happy and as of March the proud father of a young girl named Amera. She has dark black hair, more like her mother's than Triton, and deep sea green eyes. Amera was growing so fast I didn't know what to do with her, she got older and bigger every month. Geez gods did seem to have it made. Short pregnancies of only a month or two, and after being born they could start weapons training after just a year.

Sighing at the unfairness of it at I turned my attention back to the scene in front of me. Mother had been trying to solve the problem with Percy receiving sacrifices with little luck. There was no way for to prevent Percy from receiving sacrifices. And Hestia had been having trouble finding the one(s) making the sacrifices due to the fact that they were random and infrequent. With no solution available the current situation was inevitable.

"What do you mean I can't go to Camp Half-Blood?" Percy wined

"That's exactly what I mean." mother replied "You can't go you have to stay home."

"But why, Annabeth is going so why can't I go?" He countered.

"It's different with Annabeth-"

"But how?" he demanded "What's the difference between me and her."

"Percy I need you to trust me, there are things going on that you don't understand. If you go to Camp Half-Blood you'll be putting both yourself and Annabeth in danger." She said

"How exactly am I putting her in danger, how am I even in danger." he screamed.

"Percy listen I can't tell you that right now I need you to trust me I'm your mother and all you need to know right now is that it's not safe for you to go."

"You want me to trust you and you won't even tell me what is happening. What are you hiding from me?!"

"Percy I just need you to understand that I can't tell you, besides think about it this way if you stay you'll get to spend more time with Emily. Weren't you upset earlier that you were going to have to go the whole summer without seeing her, now you won't have to go see her everyday if you want." Mother reasoned.

"Yes but my friends need my help. Demigods have been going missing and it's no secret that Luke has been trying to find a way to invade camp I need to be there to help defend it." Percy said exasperated

"I know that's hard for you Percy but your staying and that's final!" Mother declared yelling for the first time.

"Fine!" Percy shouted back before he stormed out the front door.

The moment he was gone Mother collapsed on the couch. "You know that's not the way to get through to him." I said.

"I know but he is a stubborn as I can be and he has a heart as big as his father's." she replied "There's no way I could trick or bribe him out of doing what he thinks is his duty. So this was the only thing I could think of to keep both him and you safe." she sighed and then turned to me "You better head down I can sense Grover is about here with the cab."

I nodded and grab my stuff before giving her a hug I love you." I said.

mother smiled and planted a kiss on my head "I love you too."

Just as mother predicted Grover was waiting for me downstairs. The ride to camp Half-Blood was a remarkable Grover really just tried to catch me up on the latest important events that it happened. well important to him like current rumors to where Pan might be and things are going on with his girlfriend Willow. While Grover was one of my closest friends by the end of the car ride I was looking for some space, I mean 30 minutes of hearing him gush over his girlfriend was a little too much for me.

After I took my bag down to the Poseidon cabin I went to see if Thomas was at the Hermes cabin. He wasn't but Connor Stoll mentioned that he might be at the arena so I went to check it out. Sure enough he was at the arena but I wasn't expecting what I found, he was currently dueling three sons of Ares. Not only was he dueling three sons of Ares he was winning with ease. The sword style he was using wasn't like the one we were taught here at the camp, it was rougher more punishing. It also used the shield more as a weapon rather than relying on it for just defense.

One son of Ares approached his left side which was also the side that his shield was on and was backhanded like he was only a fly. The ares camper on his right attempted to capitalize on Thomas' split focus and received a kick to the face for his efforts. The third brother charged only to have his sword knocked from his hands and a shield slammed into his chest.

Seeing that the fight was over I rushed down to him "Hey Thomas!" I called.

"Annabeth!" he yelled back "When did you get here?" He added when I got close.

"A few minutes ago, just in time to see you cream these guys like they were amateurs."

"I told you I've been training in the letters I sent you." He said "Didn't you read them?"

"I did but I wasn't expecting this!" I replied. "I never even seen someone progress that fast in just 6 months. Not to mention your fighting style in a fair bit meaner than it used to be."

Thomas looked downcast "Oh, I didn't realize that that's how it looked."

Realizing How I must have sounded I gently grabbed his hand "I didn't say I hated it. I thought it actually looked pretty cool actually I was just shocked at first that's all."

Our conversation was cut short by a three bursts of a horn. It meant Chiron was calling in the cabin councillors for a meeting. I gave Thomas and apologetic look but he waved It Off. go he said it's not like I won't see you later" I smiled at him I gave him a kiss on the cheek before running off to the big house.

On the way there I ran into Malcolm who became the head counselor of cabin six after I moved out. "Hey Malcolm." I greeted "Do you know what the meeting is about?"

Malcolm shook his head "No sorry all I know is that it has something to do with the fact that Clarisse just got back."

Athena POV

"What do you mean the sacrifices are coming from the Roman camp?!" I demanded. Hestia had called Poseidon and I to her palace saying there had been a development in a search for the source of the sacrifices.

"That's what I mean." Hestia said flatly "Apparently he ran into Jason Grace a month or two before Artemis was captured by Atlas and Jason saw him bleed gold. Then Jason prayed to him and Percy knowingly or not answered him and Jason began his sacrifices to him the very same day."

I groaned and rubbed my temples in frustration "The day of Triton's wedding." I muttered "I should have realized it the moment I saw him. He looked so drained like he'd just fought for days. He must have used every ounce of power he could muster to help Jason. How could he be so reckless?" By this point I was practically growling "He's not connected to his domains, he could have put himself into a coma."

"And how could he have known that?" Hestia reason "Percy isn't even aware he is god. To him Jason's pray must have seemed like a dream. After all he was never taught how to tell the difference between the two."

"I know!" I snapped "I-I know this is our fault." I said softly, glancing at Poseidon I added "I knew there would be risks with making him mortal I just didn't expect this." My legs seemed to lose their strength and I started to fall briefly before Poseidon caught me and helped me to a chair.

"I'm sorry my love." he said kneeling beside me. "Because of my absence you've been forced to raise our son alone."

"Don't apologize we always knew that I would have to raise Percy alone once he was discovered. I just wish I knew how Jason and Percy were even able to meet? Even though Percy's a god Jason as a Roman shouldn't have been able retain his memories of a greek like Percy. Hecate's spell shouldn't have allowed it."

"That is actually my fault I'm afraid." Poseidon said sheepishly rubbing his head.

Both Hestia and myself turned to look as directly as we could "You didn't?" I breathed

"I may have-"

"Poseidon!" Hestia scolded "You know you're supposed to ensure that you are fully in either your Greek or Roman aspect. You know the dangers of having a child while your aspects are mixed."

"I know, I just got so caught up in the moment I didn't even think about it." He replied. "I think he leans a little more to my Greek side than my Roman but it's close I was almost perfectly balanced that night. From the way his powers react to his anger I was at least 40% Neptune maybe more."

Again I groaned in frustration really having a god with mixed heritage wasn't a huge issue but a demigod that way was another story entirely. Trying to force down the stress I sighed, the problems just seemed to keep mounting and I already felt so tired. "Okay tomorrow you-" I said pointing to Poseidon "-are going to the Roman camp to stop Jason and anyone else from sacrificing to Percy. I don't care if you have beg them or hit them in head so hard they forget just get it done. I will tell Triton about the situation so he will have a better idea of how to train Percy. For now we're going back to your place to sleep I'm dead tired and I've gotten so used to having you there it actually hard to sleep without you now."

AN: Just to clarify I'm defining a perfectly unified God as being 50% Greek and 50% Roman. This is the best case scenario where they would no longer be pulled apart if the two camps went to war. If that had a child while in this state that child would Miles ahead in terms of power compared to a purely Greek or Roman sibling. As for how close Percy is to this best case scenario I myself haven't decided yet. He could be a perfect mix or a near miss.
