The digiegg in Shinsuke's hands captivates him. He hasn't seen one of them in a very, very long time. He leans close to it and strokes its fine shell, closing his eyes softly. "I hope you're resting well in there, my friend," he says, picturing Coronamon. Relieving his final moments as Apollomon. "I miss you."
He exhales shakily and turns back to rejoin the others, bowing his head slightly in acknowledgement of how they had waited for him. "Let's go," he says quietly, walking resolutely towards a digiport. He may not be able to fight, but he can encourage the others, and some day, Coronamon will hatch from her egg, and once more he will be able to do all he can to protect this world. But in the meanwhile, he's fine with figuring out strategy and encouraging the others to carry on as best as they can, fighting as hard and as long as it takes to rid the world of one more digimon infected with the darkness trying to overwhelm the world.
It's a short portal trip that discards them all in front of a field of gorgeous flowers, as far as the eye can see. "Wow," Tamina murmurs, staring at the various, beautiful colors dotting the ground before them. "This is amazing."
It is, but Shinsuke's focus remains on what needs to be done and he doesn't even acknowledge her or the others' awed staring, walking past them. "Come, we must find this emergency," he says quietly, relieved when the others listen and follow him further away from the beautiful field.
When they make it to the village indicated, they all stop short and stare. There's a thick powder hovering in the sky, poisoning the sky, making everyone within its cloud cough and hack before collapsing in a heap on the floor. "What the...?" AJ mutters.
"Dammit," Shinsuke curses. They need a flying digimon to rid the area of this powder so they can safely advance further in, but none of their digimon have wings or anything that's capable of helping. He stares at hid digiegg and tries, desperately, to think, but before anything can be done, Modoki Betamon is digivolving. "Hey!" Shinsuke snaps, turning towards AJ with shock on his face.
"Something needed to be done," AJ shrugs, watching as JewelBeemon, unaffected by the powder, dives through it in search of the cause of this powder.
They get their answer pretty quickly when a yellow bodied digimon with a blue face is tossed out to join them. "HoneyBeemon," Miz gasps, gawking at him.
HoneyBeemon sputters and spits out dirt but before he can get up, do something else, JewelBeemon lunges out of the thick cloud of poison and straddles the Digimon, pushing him deeper down into the ground. "How dare you besmirch the honor of our fellow insect digimon by doing some heinous things," he snaps at the creature before him.
HoneyBeemon's eyes glint with dark promises and he arches up, startling JewelBeemon until he sees what HoneyBeemon is attempting, its massive sting dreadfully close to JewelBeemon's body. "Die," he tells him, jostling JewelBeemon further, and-
"As if I'd ever allow someone like you dictate to me when I should pass away or not," JewelBeemon tells him, face twisted in anger. He leans back, careful not to completely let HoneyBeemon free, and Shinsuke sees what's about to happen, but before he could warn the others, JewelBeemon stabs his spear straight through HoneyBeemon's prone body, embedding it so deeply that it gets trapped in the dirt and takes some work to pull it back out, allowing more data to pour from HoneyBeemon's wound.
HoneyBeemon barely reacts to deleting, just stares up at JewelBeemon with a smirk. "I wonder if the second wave will be agreeable to that," he says, voice growing wispy and faint as he slowly shatters and fades away.
"Second wave," Shinsuke repeats. "What now?"
No one has a clue, but he can't help having a very bad feeling about it all, returning to stroking his digegg thoughtfully.
